Finally a legit actual siri shortcuts guide. Most of the guides out there are completely vague and don't even explain things very well. Can't wait for the other parts!
I am curious to try these 2 shortcuts, which I do manually everyday 1. Clear Safari History and web data , Close all Tabs 2. In Telegram, Clear Telegram Cache Can anyone, guide how to get this done using shortcuts
This video is 6 months old at this point but you single handily have helped me get setup with my iPad Pro. Now I am going to be going through your shortcut tutorials to get this thing ticking like a clock. I already have setup a raspberry pi to use as a mobile development platform. Thanks a bunch for your detailed tutorials.
All 6 of the guides are excellent. Not sure why this isn’t off the carts with likes. Maybe shortcuts aren’t mainstream yet. I’ve gone back to these guides over and over again as I learn shortcuts. Each time I understand more of what you are saying. These guides have helped SO much!!!!!! Thank you. Without the guides, learning shortcuts would have been way more painful.
New subscriber but huge fan! Rob, you are a true technical fellow in my book, meaning you can do and explain clearly. There are too many folks out there just interested in hearing themselves speak rather than helping the rest of us. Keep on. Thanks.
Doing this in September 2021. Some confusion as my screen is different, but with a bit of effort I found my way around. Will now watch the rest of the series.
Siri shortcut is not perfect now but it’s very fun. I learned some skills to put “nothing” into if-else and also at the end to make my codes more understandable. Also, some bugs might happen and I need the guidance to work around them. Learning basics are always enjoyable.:)
Just found this video. I’m looking to learn more about how to do more advanced shortcuts. Starting from the beginning although I know the basics already. Hopefully I’ll learn something. Particularly interested in the scripting part. I’m hoping this isn’t too out of date being a couple of years old.
Alright you’ve said everything I needed to hear in the first 90 seconds so I’m a new subscriber for sure! Love automation and have used it in my corporate career as a logistics director & many other roles. Now, I’m trying to develop one for my ‘18 BMW X5 so it can become more automated than what it already is. :)
Already in the first part of Your Tutorial-Series I learned something: That there is something called "Shortcut Properties", until now, to add it to the homescreen I‘ve always used the "Share-Sheet". Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Using the Shortcuts app to close all open windows tabs in Safari (for my grandmother)? Hello. Really a GREAT video. Well done ! Professionaly, and thank you for sharing! Could this "Shortcuts app" for Ios help my senior mother to be able to Close all the open Safari tabs on her Ipad Pro in one go? How to do that please? I would like it to become an icon in her dock to "close all safari tabs now".... I would have to instruct another friend from a distance how to do this as I do not have the Ipad here and she lives far away from my reach at the moment.
I am a lover of Shortcuts, and I am looking forward to your tutorials because sometimes I feel that while others try to explain certain concepts, the attempt seems still esoteric. Best wishes on your shortcut-workflow videos. I will be watching.
Just what was needed. I understand how important SC could be, it’s just the all tutorials I’ve seen up to now are too complex. A great start, thank you. One tiny point: I’d have preferred you to create a SC that might actually be useful. It would be more of an incentive to stick with the series. I really appreciated asides you made along the way, eg share sheets - always wondered how you got an app in there!
As the series progresses we'll start to build some more useful shortcuts. Picking examples is always tough, and for the first two videos in the series at least I've favoured simplicity over utility!
This is the first/only channel that I have actually clicked the bell to be notified of uploaded content. Rob's content is well produced and informative.
I have a smart light that i can turn it on with NFC tag. Would like to find out if I can turn off the light with same NFC tag. Can you do a video on NFC tag
I’d love to see a thorough tutorial on Automation. I’m also looking forward to the scripting piece. I’m trying to create a shortcut to launch Google Maps and navigate to the home address of a contact via a Siri command. It’s working except when the contact has more than one address, at which point it passes all addresses to Google Maps and that search fails.
One option I've used for this is to drop a Choose from List action in between getting the contact addresses and passing them to Maps. This allows you to choose the right address before switching to Google Maps. You can even check the number of addresses first with a mix of Count/If actions and only show the list selector if needed.
This may not be what you want but you can ask Siri to navigate to let's say John via google maps. As long as the address is in your address book, just say "Navigate to John's house via Google Maps"
Do you have a shortcut to call a conference number and have the iPhone automatic switch the speaker phone on without me doing it. I can’t figure this out. Thanks
Hi, first of all thank you so much for this video. I couldn’t ask more and I couldn’t help myself but notice your awesome ipad desktop holder. Would you mind share what model you’re using? Or much better make a video of it? Have a nice day and thanks for this video again
Hello guys, This is Levente from Hungary, I was wondering if it is possible to create a shortcut or Siri command to open the gate trough HiK-Connect app, app needs to be opened and tap twice to open the gate, any help would be appreciated, Thank you
Hello - can you make a video on how to create a shortcut to shut off the iPhone or using a voice command to instruct Siri to shut off the iPhone? IF it is possible to have the shortcut or the voice command to reboot the iPhone would be even better because people with arthritis like myself have very difficult time to reboot the phone every few days in order to clear out the memory cache. Thank you very much in advance.
I don’t think there’s support in shortcuts for controlling the power of the device. However, you can restart your device using Settings and also using AssistiveTouch. Not quite as nice but might be better than the awkward button hold: www.groovypost.com/howto/turn-off-restart-iphone-x-iphone-11/
my first Shortcut involved my charging. It plays AC/DC at 75% of charge. The other I wrote has my iPad going into (low-power) mode if the power drops below 35%😁
That's the standard setup now if you have an external mouse or the Apple Magic Keyboard attached to your iPad. Over time, the cursor shape has changed but the same basic idea is still there.
Another amazing video! I have been trying to be able to accomplish something similar to the Evernote webclipper but using Apple notes. I cant seem to get anything to work. I wasn’t sure if there was a way to get url, then convert it to reader view and then save into apple notes? I would like to use Apple notes as my second brain. Thanks again as always!!
This is absolutely possible. I put together a rough prototype here: www.icloud.com/shortcuts/61a49f0e439e431a8f6884d16b7df2ef You’ll need to allow untrusted shortcuts to be able to install this. That’s in the Settings app > Shortcuts > Allow Untrusted Shortcuts. I put a screenshot here for ease: imgur.com/gallery/bam5xnw Hope this helps!
@@tech_craft That is almost exactly what i built but didn’t. Use the share sheet which was a great idea. This is the part i am probably asking too much of apple notes, is there a way to pull the images as well. Like how Evernote or Bear does it?
shannon campbell nothing I’ve tried preserves the images. I think it’s probably possible with a bit of coding work but I can’t see a way to do it directly in shortcuts.
hey man... i have a question about the ipad pro.. how much space does the ipad OS take? also what would you say is the total size of all the apps you are using ? i ask this question so i know which storage option to choose if i ever end up buying one..
Settings reports that the OS on my iPad is using 6GB. The OS also uses some space for temp files, that’s reclaimable, but you do want to leave some space for it. My temp file set is currently around 50GB. My app data is currently around 200GB including all the photos and stuff I have on my iPad. As a general thought on this, I’d say anything less than 256GB is something you’ll regret.
Hello Friend, i need your help i want to open and turn on the Personal hotspot using shorcuts, however i have only to get into the option but i dont know how to turn it on so far im using Web>prefs:root=INTERNET_TETHERING thats all, it open it, but I still to activate manually the button... how can i turn it on automatically
Using Shortcuts on its own, I don't think this is possible because there's not much in the way of support for scheduling things. I have a video coming up soon about Pushcuts which provides really sophisticated support for scheduling and notifications. I can use this as the example.
Can users create a Siri Shortcut that executes when the phone is locked? The use case is activating a shortcut to turn on the lights when my phone is locked sitting on a table without having to reach for it to unlock the phone.
Hello I’m new to the channel can you help me please to create an automation or shortcut all I want to do is that my HomePod tell me phrase take out the trash every Tuesday and Friday at 5:50 am can you guys help please
For keyboard I was using the Logitech K780 (geni.us/wmDJBdJ). I've since upgraded to the Logitech Craft, but I really think that was a waste of money and I might switch back. For the mouse, I was using the Logitech M720 (geni.us/wmDJBdJ) at my desk which is a lovely mouse. I since upgrade to the MK3 (geni.us/wmDJBdJ) which is a great mouse but overkill for iPad use. I use it also for editing and CAD on my Mac.
