You do a really good job at getting people aware of the value of shortcuts. Content wise it might be good to do a series on how each function works with 2-3 examples ...for newbees just trying to grasp the way this tools works is still a little fuzzy and I would like to hear more about some of the scripting feature, if logic and other powerful examples in detail. Thanks for this, it's useful and I'm learning a lot

My favorite Shortcut (inspired by a tweet I saw): “Initiate whisky tango foxtrot, authorization code: Charlie alpha alpha delta seven.”

I made a shortcut that gets text from clipboard or input and make it NATO military alphabet spoken text, it has no real life utility but i find it cool.

These are so awesome! I just figured out about the app half an hour ago and all I have is a shortcut for setting a two minute timer for brushing my teeth and giving me directions to my house, but I’m amazed by everything you can do with this!

Thanks for doing this work. I have a similar copy my calendar availability and use it all of the time but I am wondering if it could be possible to build one that includes a date range instead of just one specific date ?
Am I the only one who hasn’t found any use for shortcuts in life? :D I really haven’t encounter a situation where I couldn’t get the same or more without the shortcut in the same time.
That's probably true at the start - it takes a while to find use cases that fit your life or really provide a ton of utility, but over time you'll notice more & more places where it's nice to set up a shortcut and not have to do those repetitive steps.

Appreciate that you are attempting to further our understanding of shortcuts..Unfortunately this most recent video seems most useful for power users. Impressive but way beyond the basics that I need to understand. It must be challenging to make clear explanations of how to make simple shortcuts once one is an expert.
Thanks Matthew for the great video. I'm fairly new to Shortcuts. I created a menu and when one of the actions complete it doesn't return back to the menu. Is there a way after an action is completed to return back to the menu? Also, is it possible to call another shortcut within a shortcut? Thanks.

Have a couple of questions..... do you know if it’s possible to export a Shortcut into a readable format to help develop existing or new Shortcuts? Also, are there any Shortcuts that can query my iTunes wishlist? Been trying to do something similar to your 99c rental to notify when Music, TV and Film items are reduced. I’m getting there but think I’m missing something obvious.....

I'm trying to figure out how to send the same email each day. I have to email my son's school to let them know when I'm picking him up each day, and it's almost always at the same time. So I want to have Shortcuts create and send the email for me everyday when I leave work and open navigation to school.
I've figured out the leave work and navigation part, and how to create the email, but I haven't been able to get it to fill in the subject line, text in the email body, or select which email address I want to send it from.
These shortcuts are becoming so meta.
It gets super hard when you're talking about Run Shortcut for sure. This app extends to so many areas it's hard for me to talk about other stuff without bringing it back to Shortcuts.

None of these examples seem like anything I’d ever use. I used Automator for years on the Mac but for the life of me I can’t think of one short cut that I need. I’ll subscribe and see how things develop. Niche stuff so far.

Love these ideas! I would use the “copy free time” one all the time, if I could just figure out how to set it across multiple days, and set a “9am-5pm” parameter. Been messing around for a while but in WAY over my head :-)

Have you come across anything to reduce or increase ringer volume when you get to work and leave work...?
Do you know how to get multiple inputs (text & photos) then combine them with formatting and save as pdf?
I do embroidery work and take several orders a day. Having a shortcut that would ask for the info and save the "order" as pdf would help simplify this process.

Such a great video! I’m having a lot of fun with shortcuts, I made a cool Pokedéx info Shortcut that retrieves data from a specific Pokémon entered by the user, also I did a very similar Log Water Shortcut, with the difference that I set a reminder for an hour later to keep drinking water if I haven’t reach my goal... anyway, I hope we can get lots of new functions in future updates and also a deeper integration with Siri like choosing an item from list or displaying the result with an image... that would be cool

I have a question about the Log Water shortcut. I have the same Nokia smart scale as you and it is linked to my Health app. Why when I log water, for example 16oz, does it say: “16oz logged! That’s 2oz so far today!” I’m not sure I understand the 2oz part.

Is there a shortcut for downloading videos from websites (not youtube, I've got that one)? I've got an app (Aloha) that does it, but sometimes take a while, plus you have to make it full screen and then tap on a button to start the download.

I love Bedtime for a sunrise shortcut but the thing is after iOS13 update, it got changed a bit. Instead of subtracting 8.5 hours it's just doing 8 hours.

You can also change it so that you can upload to snapchat. If you want, I can tell you how. Or actually. I’ll just tell you either way so that others know too. It’s actually pretty simple. If you want the option to upload to Instagram or Snapchat, add choose from menu before the upload to instagram, and then add share after upload to Instagram and put upload to Instagram in one and share in two. If you have snapchat downloaded, and have it in your share menu thing, you can upload to snapchat and send it to somebody.
FYI, the WPA and WEP in the Shortcut you provided is switched in the code.
