- Here is my reaction to hearing The Grudge by TOOL for the first time. I hope you enjoy this one. I have been seeing a few comments from people claiming that I am lying and that I have heard the song before. It amazes me that somehow certain people know more about me than I do myself... All my reactions are genuine, I never upload a song I've already heard. Anyway, with that being said, I hope you enjoy todays video!

Pause when you want bruv. It's your channel.
Hell! Rewind if you want
Exactly. We’ve heard this song a million times. We’re here for your reaction. Take your time. It’s Tool. It’s a process.
Lol its youtube annoy the public channel can get shut down and yeah can pause but dont be killing the vibe by making it constant and ramble too long in between is all ppl ask
@@phantom8906 take a break. Log off social media.
Nuh uh its my channel
3 wizards and an Octopus sat down.....
You think you like it now, wait until you listen to it for the 100th time. It just gets better and better. Been listening to tool for 31 years, still my favourite band ever.
You hit the nail on the head; the more you listen the more you love it. I agree. Best band to ever exist for me.
I couldn't agree more, I am 45, and been a constant, I have been lucky enough to see them in a few countries and about 33 times ( if we include festivals)...you are either a TOOL fan our you are not..I can't help those that are not..
Fair to say for about every Tool song IMO.
@@ssacra22 I agree, I think that's why we can enjoy there music year after year, so much to take in and unwrap.
57 yo from the US...Thank God there is hope for your generation yet. Tool will grab you. Shake you up, Spit you out, and grab you back again. Go see them live in May.
You can always tell someone's first time hearing tool bc they bob thier head off beat trying to find the rhythm
You’d think that would be obvious too yet some people are so certain I’ve heard them before. Like not everyone has heard every song in the world 🤣
@@MollyBoyTV we know you're legit...
@@mattblatchley2061as a OGT 😊 I concur
Yeah, you can't bob along with Tool like you do with most other music - you will be quickly out of sync when they change it up (because they WILL change it up!). That's what I love about their music, but I think that is why my wife doesn't like them. She just likes that classic rock-n-roll sound and Tool are anything but that!
It reminds me of the Doors - the producers at the time didn't like it or get it because they thought no one would listen to their stuff because you can't dance to it! 🤣
@@tattoodude8946 the songs on thier first studio album undertow are a bit more straightforward.. they get more an more complex as you go through the later albums .. songs like crawl away.. swamp song.. intolerance etc
Danny kills the drums in this one. Pneuma next!! Studio. Then Danny's drum cam.
When doesn't he kill it? He's a beast
We want this
He told it was the hardest song to perform live on drums.
Yeah definitely studio version first and live then
The smile on his face towards the end of the performance solidifies that comment@@achafilms3968
True Tool fans will never complain about the length of your video or the amount of times you pause…. As long as you back up and catch the changes again 😉
You’re doing a beautiful job. Thank you for giving us the experience of hearing these anew through your ears and mind !
Got goosebumps when you said "you have to sink deeper into tool". One of the reasons i got hooked and now in the cult.
You have to listen to Parabol & Parabola man, those two songs together uffffffff makes me chills to only thinks about it 🤟🏼
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes!
I second this vote!
Agreed!
Absolutely!.. Two conjoined songs in one awesome rocking masterpiece..🤟😎
MB - Pause away! Elizabeth on The Charismatic Voice pauses CONSTANTLY and she has over a million subs. We can find the uncut song elsewhere - we're here for your reaction :)
9:13 "Give me a sec, bruv" 😂😂 One of my favorite reactions from people discovering Tool is that sense of utter confusion lol. The "I have no idea wtf is happening but it's the coolest shit I've ever heard" kinda look. Keep spiraling, these songs get better every time you hear them 🤘
That was his scream for that long, people are amazed by it
Danny said from a stamina point of view this is the hardest song to play. Understandable really. I imagine from a technical standpoint Pneuma or Rosetta Stoned must be up there.
I think he said (could be a different time the question was asked of him) the overall more difficult song to play was Invincible.
@@robertwebb7152 and 7empest from the same interview.
His equivalent to Haake's Bleed
Danny did say the newer stuff is hard, but this song is hard on his wrists as well. I just watched it the other day. lol I love Danny!
I’m a 50 year old woman that’s been an OG Tool army fan. Let me tell you kid.. I am so proud that a you d man like you can understand and appreciate this music. There are many of the Tool fans that can be real assholes about newbies of Tool music. You pause and comment when you want.. you should!! They don’t like it.. they can go listen to the music and not watch reactions.. I don’t get it. It’s a reaction channel.. you go!! I love what your doing.. and welcome!! Ride the spiral and if you get a chance to see them.. it will blow your mind! Seen them probably 25 times and seeing them again on Feb 5th in Denver Colorado!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Wait until you hear lost keys/Rosetta stoned
The drummers name is Danny Carey widely regarded as one of the all time best
P.s. pause when you want and F them haters.
god i love watching people experience tool songs for the first time. it's downright magical to see the initial shock and confusion give way to awe and an overwhelming sense of "i don't know what the fuck that was but i need more of it immediately." beautiful.
An interesting paradox happened when music streaming services were created.
Several bands like Tool took quite a while to work through the legalities of putting their music on these services, meanwhile the younger generation abandoned traditional “radio stations”. That opened this alternate reality where a 10-15 year generation of people straight up missed out on bands like Tool and Metallica almost entirely.
Now we’re seeing this UA-cam influx of people like this young man being exposed to music many of us grew up on for the first time, some 20 years later, and being blown away.
I’ve been going down this long rabbit hole of finding more and more people reacting to Tool via UA-cam and I just can’t stop lol.
I can’t hear Tool for the first time again, but in some weird way I’m reliving it through others. It’s like seeing your child take their first steps… over and over and over again!
Same bro, same. Like reliving Tool vicariously 😂
Us old Tool fans are living vicariously through the younger generation 😉
If you like Maynard, check out “A Perfect Circle”. That is his other band. Same voice, two different sounds. For your next Tool song, I highly recommend “Aenema”.
And Puscifer
The remedy is a great one
Also equally incredible.
I have been listening to Tool since '95. I experienced Tool Live at Roskilde Festival in 2001. They started the show with this song. The Grudge. AMAZING live band. WOW!!
Best reaction’s, almost look like you wish you had been born 20 years earlier just to enjoy all this when it was happening
Spiral Out Brother!
You should check out Sober or Jambi next! Jambi especially is a journey.
Their first big hit! Probably my favorite song...
Adam Jones designed and created Tool vids, tour posters, etc... also, he was the art director of Jurassic Park, etc... the dude shoots lightning if he chooses!😮 Great channel, man.
Fun fact: Danny Carey says this is the toughest song to perform for him.
once again asking for parabol/parabola, the transition between the songs makes me ascend every time i hear it
Seconded
thirdededed
Fourthed😊
Fifthed...
Dude. You are fucking funny. "I can't deal with how many changes there are". Best line in tool reaction I've heard
June 2001, I walk into a FYE music store before my shift at The Cheesecake Factory and they had like 20 or so albums up on the wall with headphones to listen to them before you buy. I see the new Tool album and think the cover art is bizarre yet cool. I toss on the headphones and listen to The Grudge as the album opener. I proceeded to stand there and listen to this whole song thinking it was the best fucking thing I ever heard. Their preceding Aenima album is great but this was just a whole different level of a different kind of awesomeness. I listened to the song 3 times since I couldn’t pause or rewind. I walked in late to my shift because of this song! After I made enough money in tips, I ran over to the store to buy it so it couldn’t sell out. I couldn’t stop listening to it over and over. One of the best songs ever in my humble opinion and I love watching others react to it imagining myself the first time I heard it in that FYE store in 2001. Great reaction!
Parabol & Parabola Together!
The long Maynard scream and Danny drum outro are in a league of their own!
Now thats how you open an album!
React to...DECENDING...best Song from Tool....its a real masterpeace 🤯🤯
Ohmygod you did it. This is going to be amazing. Pausing work early today for this.
One of my Favorite TOOL songs
Spiral out !!
When I want to listen to TOOL, I'll go listen to it. I'm here to hear your thoughts on the music. So... Pause it and tell me! 👍🏽🌀
Yeeeessssssssssss!!! Such an epic piece of music, and the most beautifully chaotic outro I’ve ever heard.
I think you’re ready for another one of their ultimate masterpieces, Descending!!!
keep listening bro, it only gets better and better, and always remember, you're currently discovering your favorite band lol
tool is literally stacked like an all pro team. each patient in the band is probably top 5 in the world at what they do and when you mix them together perfection happens. no band in the world sounds like this and that's for a reason. if you EVER get the opportunity to see them live it's one of the most incredible experiences you could ever have. I know this sounds corny and it is but the music is just that good.
Your "WTF" look after every song. Those few seconds just kill me every time.
Keep doing what you're doing mate
Everyone makes the same face when reacting to TOOL :P Confused yet awestruck. Love it. Enjoy the journey, bud.
Bad ass intro...Followed by some warm up riffs and then you get your face shredded off! This is how you start off an album!!
You’re on a fantastic journey here man
Dig into the lyrics, lyric meaning will blow your mind
Jambi
Right in two
Invincible
All good ones to continue your journey with
Great reactions!!!
This is deep water, friend. Enjoy.
Hypnotic. I think that's the word you were looking for.
TOOLARMY 💯🔥
So, this is a thing I know and it "helps" me understand Tool's process. The music is pretty much written and recorded, meticulously and then MJK writes lyrics and sings as though he's another instrument...thus, then he sings live in the back, with the drums... he really sings with the drums. 4 of the best at what they do. Great reactions!
NICE! Cant wait for the reaction
Love that your generation has this as kind of classic... This is my favorite of their bigger songs... They opened with it in 2017 in Fairfax
My favorite Tool song
So good to see someone new finding this Journey. Glad you are enjoing it.
Love the vids and vicariously watching you on your tool journey... keep it up and enjoy the ride! As others have said, you should do Parabol/Parabola soon. Also consider (my favorite tool song) Right In Two. And, not sure if you're referencing lyrics while listening, but I would strongly recommend that (especially for the two songs I mentioned)! Given the mixes, it's not always easy to understand what MJ is saying, and his messages add whole new levels to the songs. Spiral out!
The idea of this song is that by the time saturn has done one rotation around the sun, 30yrs have passed on earth. Suggesting when you hit 30 you might wanna drop some baggage from your youth because sadly it is over. Just my interpretation.
Don’t let people crap on you about how you run your videos because at the end of the day it is your channel and you should be allowed to pause whenever you want and I realize that There are some people that just want to enjoy the music, but with bands like tool, there are things that you can’t keep to yourself because there’s so much talent and raw power going on there. Something has to be said about it and if you were to gather up all your thoughts and then re-record the end, it’s not really a genuine reaction because you’ve had time to think about it.. I am just happy that you’re enjoying tool as much as I have and still do and I’m also glad that you’re experiencing it for the first time because it makes me remember when I experienced it for the first time and how I felt getting to live vicariously through someone else looking at it from their perspective is really what these videos are all about for me.
Fuck yes. Listen with no pause over and over.
Welcome to a Gen X’s head for a few minutes at a time, lol. Loving these videos.
Live Drum cam video of Pneuma! It'll blow your mind!
There are quite a few hard rock and heavy metal songs with great screams in them (Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast " comes to mind), but this one takes the cake!
Yeah me too, i think the song goes straight into his playlist 😅

in each and everyone life of ours there is a point where you've never heard of the Tool before. After that we are all more aware human beings. Period
Descending please and thank you. Ill post on every video if i have to lol. HAHAHA
Let him do the Fear Inoculum album last, I think he needs to move through all the previous albums first. FI is the maturation of all that came before.
I only heard of Tool bc of reaction videos. So not everyone is automatically familiar with them😮. PS I really dig them.
Huge amount of talent in this band🤘
Tool is that band that you either love it above all or you don’t get it! You’ve never heard it but it’s familiar to you and the chills you feel and tears are your brain hearing what it’s always needed to hear! Just listen don’t fight it or analyze it right now and research into “prying open your third eye “ that might help you understand where this rabbit hole leads you
Genuine brother. Every song is on another level. Keep it up
uuuuh, this will be a treat!
Coheed and Cambria, Mars Volta and Chevelle -Self destructor
True tool is on another level than ANYONE else.
My absolute favorite album ever.
Please see them live man. By far the best concert I've ever seen and I've been to over 300 different shows by different bands.
And there's only 4 members in the band. One of the best!
The people who complain about pausing are only here for the song. That's not engaging to me.
Great reaction!! These guys are the GOAT!!
Jambi! You have to hear Jambi. It will bring you to a level of total awe you have never felt
Love your reactions! Pneuma - drum cam, is one that you'll appreciate!
I can only find it on UA-cam but..”push it” live will 🤯
If you're going to dabble into Salival, which is a live album, many are suggesting Push It. I personally think You Lied is the best song on that album. Hope to hear it from you soon. Total banger. 🌀
my son and I have got tickets to see them (again) in Manchester (UK) in June...Its for my 65th birthday :-)
"I don't know what to say" 🤣 it's the time signature, it's just not what anybody is ever expecting. And even more confusing, why does it even work so well? Just how??
Amazing sounds...amazing lyrics...amazing song. One of the best.
Seen TOOL 3 times and its truly an experience
Im 16. I can't wait to see my first tool concert
Love what your doing. Try ( A Perfect Circle )
As others said, Parabol & Parabola (two tracks they go together), and also Schism.
Love this tune. Bill Hicks the comedian. He pushed beautiful material of oneness, love and anti-establishment. but he was a man who didn't love himself, he was self destructive and held his grudge for letterman like a crown. (Letterman removed his material showing on the letterman show because it was 'too edgy' for the times. And Bill would rather die than water himself down and go back on letterman, even though it would have made him more successful and pushed his message further). Bill was a friend of Maynard's and died of Cancer (heavy smoker). They dedicated the album AENIMA to him
By the way the lead singer of Tool (Maynard James Keenan) also is in 2 other music projects "Puscifer" and "A Perfect Circle" check them both out I recommend "Remedy" from Puscifer and "Passive" from A Perfect Circle! Cheers my friend and spiral out !!
Hand to God, they replicate it live.
Danny Carrey is a MONSTER on the drums in this.
How can that not be the greatest rock song ever. Yes I believe that's the first time u hearing that song, I just discovered them a little while back. They just started streaming their songs a few years back, I mean since 1990 they didn't do many interviews, hardly no radio play, because of length and some lyrics in songs, but thank goodness for utube, we now know their genius.
I haven't seen anyone recommend Part of Me by tool yet.
Excellent song, when you gonna do Descending? Can't wait for that!
"I know you better than i know myself" remember yourself saying that for a future tool reaction 😉
Hey bro, I hadn't listened to this song since like forever and that just put me down on my knees looking up and wondering why? and felt like I haven't heard it enough, thanks for that reaction, it was fire.
Also I wanted to suggest another great band, "DREAM THEATER", just like "TOOL", the complexity in their songs is overwhelming, not saying they play the same style, never, but complexity is these band's just another regular activity and just like Tool, too complex, give it a try, start with "This Dying Soul" you won't regret it! I'm totally confident in that, good luck with that, you'll thank me sometime
Damn that's hard man😮
To me, Tool and Monty Python have something in common. Each time you listen/watch, you discover something new.
thing is with tool whether you listen to them as a whole or follow one of the four musicians individually, you're still left thinking "fuck me" have a nose at their "live" salival album molly namely "pushit"(salival version)i mean they all go off in the second half of that song but adam jones hits you with a sonic barrage that is a jawdropper, his control of reverb, distortion and feedback are something else.great reaction and have a good day mate
A few suggestions if i may: the stage-avenged sevenfold
Prison sex or sober - tool
Sonne - Rammstein
Bleed the freak live at the moore - Alice in chains
Nah, you can always tell a prior tool fan, their music is too epic to pretend. I should start reactions about songs I know and love cuz I wanna share my passion lol but then it's just watching me while listening to music hahah
1:27 Perfect timing
The most delicious scream in all of metal
