I had to really lower the opacity on this video so that UA-cam wouldn’t block it again. Sorry if it’s annoying. I’ll only ever lower it if UA-cam blocks a video, otherwise I’ll just post as usual!
If you played guitar hero back in the day this was on guitar hero world tour I believe along with a few other tool songs. Maybe be why you thought you heard it before.
If you like tool you should check out the singers other band 'A Perfect Circle'. Weak and Powerless or Judith would be great songs to check out from them!
I’m a former bass player and it rips my soul out that people never realize that the driving guitar in this song is the bass guitar - Justin Chancellor. 😂 I get it though… SOOOO many things people think are Adam is actually Justin. He plays ridiculously melody passages so that Adam can weave his web of atmosphere for the song the live in.
I'm a bass player and when I first heard Tool I went crazy and learned all their songs. The bass sound is amazing, the effects are amazing, everything is exactly where it should be.
I learnt bass specifically to learn 46&2, not the best first starter song but hey, it’s what I wanted to learn. At least was basic as far as on a tool level :)
Dude something you said is spot on, I wish I could hear TOOL for the first time again. That's what gets me watching TOOL reaction vids. It kinda gives me the chance to relive that first time Vicariously, hint hint, through your ears.
I was waiting for a Tool show on Broadway in Nashville in Jan 2020 listening to a country band that was quite competent musically, the lead singer conversed with the audience asking what they were doing tonight, someone yelled out “Seeing Tool!” Just then the bass player in this country quartet dropped into this Schism bass riff, I will never forget the looks on his bandmate’s faces as he shredded this riff. It was a phenomenal show.
One video every Tool fan absolutely loves is the live version of Pneuma with the camera on the drums. You will appreciate the drummer 10X after watching it. Plus it's a great song. Cheers!
Don't worry. With Tool you won't miss hearing them for the first time again, they only get better and better every time you hear them. They have been in my life for 30 years now and believe me, they will be the soundtrack of your life from now on
APC Judith (Maynard's other band) + Wings for Marie + 10,000 days. All 3 in 1 session. You'll love it! Tells the emotional rollercoaster story of his Mom. Totally worth.
I’m also someone who feels music very deeply. I listen to a lot of different genres from a lot of different eras. there’s something special about music for me. I feel it so deeply… I look at it as a gift ❤ tool is one of those bands that you can listen to the same song over and over and pick up new ideas and feelings. I have listened to wings for Marie and 10,000 days 100 times at least, and each time I find some other focus in the music that I didn’t notice before or that were drowned out by something else. Tool is amazing!
Always felt there is something PRIMAL and hypnotic with Tool's music. It's pulsating, it has a heart beat. It strikes a chord in certain humans, on a deep level. 🔥🔥🔥 love your Tool reactions.
Same here! They played on top of a parking structure downtown Pontiac, MI. They were instantly and forever my favorite band. The mushrooms didn't hurt either lol
You can hear these songs hundreds of times and still find pieces you never noticed before. They only get better the more you hear them, without getting stale over time, which is incredibly rare. Any band is lucky to have ONE song like that, and these guys have whole damn albums full of them lol
Fun fact !!! Jack Osborne was a huge Tool fan - possibly still is - once a Tool fan always a Tool fan !!! I actually spoke to him at a Tool show at the Wilturn Theatre back in - God I can’t remember what year it was but it was a long while ago !!!! Show was amazing! Still venture out to see them when they are playing in LA !!! Never miss a show !!! True musicianship by all 4 !!!!
What I didn't know about this song for the longest time was that it alternates time signatures. For most of the song, they'll do a verse of 5/8, then 7/8, then back again. Then the "chorus" it's one bar of 6/8, then back to 7/8, then so on. It's what produces that weightless effect, where you feel like you're floating listening to this. The parts and the meter dance around each other but never resolve.
Bruv, loving your journey so far, keep the Tool reactions coming, they have so many goosebumps-causing moments in their music. Can’t wait for the next one! Cheers!
I've never seen anyone react to Tool's cover of "You Lied" (by Peach) or the cover of "No Quarter (by Led Zepplin). Could you be the first? Are you the chosen one? 😅. Also, definitely check out some of Maynard's Puscifer music. Really crazy stuff. I envy those who get to hear all this stuff for the first time. I wish I could do that again.
Been listening to Tool for 25+ years and I it may be added nostalgia now, but the same songs get better and better for me. I haven’t ever thought about wanting to hear them again for the first time, but it has been really fun to watch you experience them fresh. Keep up the good content, brother.
Wicked reaction Brotha! It's cool to watch someone discover something that can change them. Tool certainly changed me in the early 90s. In my day, records, tape decks, then CDs in granite basements, or hours by the river, became home, school, and church. Music and friends. UA-cam has really changed that. Wicked cool to see people all over the planet learn something new from other places. Keep discovering Brotha!
Listening to Tool interviews you can just tell that they are truly a great band. They talk about how each member puts in their 25% to each song to come together to make 100%. There isn't one person to outshine or out perform another. They are one unit. How they make songs is that Justin and Adam put down the guitar tracks. Then Danny listens to it to come up with the beat. Then Maynard comes up with the perfect lyrics to complete the song. Its absolutely amazing how they work together.
What they put in is pure technical and creative skills. The perfection isn't found many places. This was my first tool song and I've never looked back.
You once asked what kind of genre category Tool fell under. I'd say they are indivualistic but fall under experimental metal, like Pink Floyd was individualistic but fell under an experimental rock sound. Perhaps they both deserve a brand new catagory all their own. Anyway you look at it, they're both unique in their respective genre's.
No worries dude! I’ve been listening to tool for at least 20 years, probably a bit longer. The goosebumps are still here, and in some cases even better than ever! The more you get into the songs, and the more you understand them, the more chill the chills get! Tool is THE best drug I’ve come across in my life! ❤
I don't know if you have heard yet or not but Adam Jones, lead guitar does the graphics for the videos. That is what he did pre Tool. Pnuema, drum camera will blow your mind. I watch it all the time, never gets old
Still around, still touring, and still putting out misuc. If you really like them I highly suggest going to a live show. I have seen over 100 bands live (likely far more) in the last ~30 years ranging from Metal, to HipHop, Techno, Classic Rock, and everything in between. These guys easily make my top 3 bands to see live at and I don't believe the other 2 still tour. Best thing is venue size doesn't seem to matter, saw them in a little club holding
I just binged all of your Tool reacts and i am sad they are over... Truly hope you drop 100 more. Watching your love afair with our Pride and Joy is like going to Church for me. I tear up still watching your mind get blown and the goosebumps invade. I think you are ready for "Right in Two." Its amazing (duh)
They are trying to expand your mind, one way or another lol. very clever music. I imagine they might hope for more critical thought wide scale as many of us often do. Chill video bro. good vibes. Next Pneuma. get on it bruv. 🙃
Also PLEASE do a reaction to Pnuma live with the Danny Carey drum cam. I only advise this because you mentioned that the drums often catch your attention. Again, you WON’T be disappointed. LOVING your channel amigo. Keep on keeping on 👌
8:29 whole body chills I get them all the time, with many genres of music, even opera. Only about 25% of people get chills (consistently) during music. We also get a little hit of dopamine. There’s a lot of physiology to go along with that, but essentially our brain (people that consistently get chills while listening to music) experiences emotion stronger than those who don’t get chills. There are many studies on the subject, it’s fascinating if you’re into that kind of data 🤓
Adam jones the guitarist for tool used to work in Hollywood making models and claymation type things he made some dinosaurs for Jurassic park the movie. He directs and designs a lot of the videos for tool they are always very good
I spent that summer trying to get the perfect recording off the radio before the album was released. My new puppy, Chewbacca, was my constant companion.
I’d definitely recommend Invincible. Outside of Tool, if you want anything band/song that’ll give you goosebumps is KMFDM. They have a song called Ultra that’ll get you pumped. Amazing song. First time I heard it was in the Street Fighter 2 anime. Sick fight scene between Chung Li and Vega.
The videos are made by the guitarist, Alex Jones. He did movie special effects before Tool took off, and worked on some of the biggest blockbusters of the early 80s - mid 90s (Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Aliens, Terminator 2, Jurassic Park). And yes, the videos are very strange.
Well this is my favourite Tool song for sure. What godly power this melody holds. Brilliant !! Tool was largely influenced by Rush BTW especially the drummer !
There really isn’t a Tool song that won’t affect you emotionally. Music obviously touches you as it does me. I do advise you do the discography from start to finish. The albums themselves are very intricately put together and ordered on purpose. Info: Aenima the 2nd album came out in 96. Fear Innoculum the latest album came out in 2019 I think
I love your Tool reactions. But you mentioned in a previous video you wanted to try some other stuff, so I thought maybe you'd like to check out Dream Theater. You like drums and guitar, I think you might like them. Start with pull me under, it's really not their best but it's a nice one to dip your feet in the water because it was one of their few radio hits.
Watching which of these songs vibe with you, I predict you'd love Swamp Song off the Undertow album. It's become one of my favs when I just want to rock out.
Make another eligible spot for "passenger" by Deftones. Has Maynard as guest vocals. If ya wanna hear another good singer in metal from mid 90's, Deftones is a solid band. Chino can sing man
Adam is a highly talented Special Effects artist who's worked on movies like Jurassic Park. If you look up their videography he Directed all Tool videos during this era I believe. The videos were just an extension of the band at that time.
💯 Nothing like the first time. But no worries. Relistenable value is high. I still notice new fills, sub/poly rhythms, and melodies missed the first few listens. Then, unpacking the lyrics and hearing them in unison with the music? Epic. Don't sleep on angry Tool, it's some of the best. Undertow is my fave track from that first album.
They've been around from the late late 80's. Btw, the guitar player Adam makes/works on most of their official videos. A few good songs to check out from their 2nd album that have a bit heavier sound that I recommend are "Sober" which is basically what made them big,(studio version not live), "Undertow", "Swamp Song" or "Bottom". These are great.
If your into drums you have to check out Rush! The drummer from tool was inspired by him. Your favorite drummers, favorite drummer is Neil Peart The Professor
This really brings back memories my brother and I going out in the woods and parking smoking grass and having a few sips off the bottle great times! Did you ever listen to lets Roll ? Yellowolf featuring Kid Rock
Right in Two, Ænema, The Grudge, Parabol + Parabola, 10,000 Days + Wings for Marie, Lipan Conjuring + Lost Keys + Rosetta Stoned, Ticks & Leeches, The Patient.. I could go on xD
I had to really lower the opacity on this video so that UA-cam wouldn’t block it again. Sorry if it’s annoying. I’ll only ever lower it if UA-cam blocks a video, otherwise I’ll just post as usual!
This should fall under fair use 100%
If you played guitar hero back in the day this was on guitar hero world tour I believe along with a few other tool songs. Maybe be why you thought you heard it before.

Justin is insane. He’s soooo good. I’m a drummer.
TOOL. Best band in the Land!
I learnt bass specifically to learn 46&2, not the best first starter song but hey, it’s what I wanted to learn. At least was basic as far as on a tool level :)
You can never go wrong listening to Tool from the bass' point of view. Same goes for Iron Maiden.
Letting you know...THIS GIRL LOVES Justin's basslines..He is waay under rated!
Tool is the ONLY band that gives me feelings I've never felt listening to music. Tool fucking Tool 🔥❤
You hit the nail on the head. You don't just listen to TOOL. You feel TOOL viscerally in your being/soul.
Dude something you said is spot on, I wish I could hear TOOL for the first time again. That's what gets me watching TOOL reaction vids. It kinda gives me the chance to relive that first time Vicariously, hint hint, through your ears.
I think he may have done that one already.
Exactly bro... I still tear up watching this young man be reborn. Again and again.

I second this!
I third this!
Make it 4!!
high five
Six
Don't worry. With Tool you won't miss hearing them for the first time again, they only get better and better every time you hear them. They have been in my life for 30 years now and believe me, they will be the soundtrack of your life from now on
APC Judith (Maynard's other band) + Wings for Marie + 10,000 days. All 3 in 1 session. You'll love it! Tells the emotional rollercoaster story of his Mom. Totally worth.
To get the storyline lyrics are a must for this trilogy.
Jimmy should be done with them too.
Grab some hankies. These hit hard. I heard em after my dad passed, the tears just came
Gotta start with Jimmy, and end with Momma Sed (Puscifer).
It sucks@!
Sober live
Maynard's performance will shock you.
Indeed. Favorite live vocal performance. Ever, for this 65 yr. old.
When you’re ready for Tool, and really Maynard, to just shred Hollywood… cue up Aenema!
💯
I’m also someone who feels music very deeply. I listen to a lot of different genres from a lot of different eras. there’s something special about music for me. One of the most spiritual band's to experience live in concert
Omg their live shows are amazing
First heard Tool in 1993. Be thankful you didn't have to wait for releases.
Same. I’m jealous new listeners can just pull up a new album after hearing the previous one.
Yet every release is worth the wait...
Same here! They played on top of a parking structure downtown Pontiac, MI. They were instantly and forever my favorite band. The mushrooms didn't hurt either lol
I feel this. Between Tool and Nine Inch Nails back in the day, there were YEARS between releases and we had to pay $15 for the CD.
@@TonyBudenz they went longer between albums than led zeppelin were a band.
Goosebumps, hence, Tool Army!
Tool has five (5) studio albums the most recent was in 2019.
Fear Inoculum. 2019.
10,000 Days. 2006.
Lateralus. 2001.
Ænima. 1996.
Undertow. 1993.
“You’re puttin’ summin’ in dat music maate” is the best way I have ever heard Tool be described 😂😂😂
I've been a Tool fan since 95 I was 13 years old. Lol
You can hear these songs hundreds of times and still find pieces you never noticed before. They only get better the more you hear them, without getting stale over time, which is incredibly rare. Any band is lucky to have ONE song like that, and these guys have whole damn albums full of them lol
The Grudge! The Grudge! The Grudge!!!!!!!
Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Do it
I think i've already done it
one of their very best!!!
I typically recommend this as the first TOOL song for people who've never heard them. Just such a catchy riff
What I didn't know about this song for the longest time was that it alternates time signatures.
For most of the song, they'll do a verse of 5/8, then 7/8, then back again.
Then the "chorus" it's one bar of 6/8, then back to 7/8, then so on.

Bruv, loving your journey so far, keep the Tool reactions coming, they have so many goosebumps-causing moments in their music. Can’t wait for the next one! Cheers!
He's really starting to figure it out.
Mollyboy now knows that the pieces fit.
Not your usual rock band. Love the production of the songs. Tremendous musicians with a single mind
I've never seen anyone react to Tool's cover of "You Lied" (by Peach) or the cover of "No Quarter (by Led Zepplin). Could you be the first? Are you the chosen one? 😅. Saw tool in concert in 1999. Best mosh pit ever ❤
I envy you for hearing this for the first time. They're the 🐐 s
My gosh i love this choon so much.
This is the aong when it was released that i knew I'd chosen the right band..
Keep up the trend. You will find tool is the best band ever.
You should check out Mastodon, I think you would like them. Steambreather is my favorite song of theirs.
Wicked reaction Brotha! It's cool to watch someone discover something that can change them. Tool certainly changed me in the early 90s. Yeah, they put something in their music. Cosmic Math and Elder God Logic. 🤘

Just went to a Tool concert last month. Definitely into the 2000's
Good pick 💪

Your face as you listen/watch is such a delight to watch.
The pieces fit perfectly when you watch the video. Changes the experience massively.

I do love Tool but my favorite band is RUSH. So when this rabbit hole is not so deep anymore RUSH is another rabbit hole to venture into.
I don't know if you have heard yet or not but Adam Jones, lead guitar does the graphics for the videos. That is what he did pre Tool. Pnuema, drum camera will blow your mind. I watch it all the time, never gets old

Descending!!!!!!
Another of the genius that is Maynard is 'puscifer' so so many amazing songs...... 'Bullet train to Iowa' , 'Toma' etc etc etc. Just amazing.
Such pleasure to see how people immerse into tool stuff
The live version of “sober” is a must watch live. And Danny Carey’s Pneuma Live in concert is also a mind blower. Check them out
Adam jones the guitarist for tool used to work in Hollywood making models and claymation type things he made some dinosaurs for Jurassic park the movie. He directs and designs a lot of the videos for tool they are always very good
They're so Fucking Good! And they've been at it for 30 plus years...saw them live in 1994 for the first time
I spent that summer trying to get the perfect recording off the radio before the album was released. My new puppy, Chewbacca, was my constant companion.
They've been around since the 90s and theyre still around. They release a masterpiece every 12 years or so 🤣
Such a special song!
Gotta get this dude to see Sober live aye? Might be too much too early though 😅
It’ll change his life! Lol
They formed in '90. Ten years before you were born. Good tunes back then, good shows. It's fun to watch the raw intake. Here for it.
'A Perfect Circle- Judith' (Same singer from Tool)
I’d definitely recommend Invincible. Outside of Tool, if you want anything band/song that’ll give you goosebumps is KMFDM. They have a song called Ultra that’ll get you pumped. Amazing song. First time I heard it was in the Street Fighter 2 anime. Sick fight scene between Chung Li and Vega.

Might be Toolsest Tool song . More than music
Well this is my favourite Tool song for sure. What godly power this melody holds. Brilliant !! Tool was largely influenced by Rush BTW especially the drummer !
A masterpiece. That's all ..... 🙏 the philosophy Maynard puts in music (all songs, even the instrumental ones, is really charming
A Schism is a split or division between strongly opposed sections or parties caused by differences in opinions or beliefs. It’s a fight to be heard
Jepp, FI was 2019. Was at my first Tool concert that year ( what an experience), was a couple weeks before it released.
they help you get on to yourself so you can spiral out and be human. have a wonderful day
I love your Tool reactions.
7:20 The synth sound is actually played by the bassist, Justin Chancellor
Synth? Bruh it's just literally the bass and a wah pedal
Indeed @@einar2004 , that’s what I meant to say. 👍🏼
They are coming to UK next year, go and see them live.
It gives goosebumps because it's real
Watching which of these songs vibe with you, I predict you'd love Swamp Song off the Undertow album. It's become one of my favs when I just want to rock out.
Still waiting for you to listen to a live version. This is it. Look up the same song with the drum cam. It will blow your mind!!
Eulogy by tool. Great deep song
Make another eligible spot for "passenger" by Deftones. Has Maynard as guest vocals. If ya wanna hear another good singer in metal from mid 90's, Deftones is a solid band. Chino can sing man
It's been mentioned by numerous reactors who know hiphop - Lose Yourself by Eminem has the same tone and a similar melody
My insides are dancing and giggling 😊😊😊
The Patient is a great option for your bext step in the Tool wormhole.
Adam is a highly talented Special Effects artist who's worked on movies like Jurassic Park. If you look up their videography he Directed all Tool videos during this era I believe. The videos were just an extension of the band at that time.
The man worked on Predator 2, Edward Scissorhands and Terminator 2. This guy is insanely talented
Imagine Tool at the Dome in Vegas with Jones in control of all visuals! I’d pay big for that!

I wish someone would do Swamp Song featuring Henry Rollins. That is damn near my favorite Tool song.
One of my favorite of tool. Im begging you to play Eulogy. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Wait until you find Pusifer and Perfect circle , make sure you do lost keys with Rosetta stoned as they go together
LET'S GOOOOOOO
Tool, Sober, Live at Reading Festival 1993
TOOL ARMY checking in.✌️
If your into drums you have to check out Rush!
Please check out Raining Blood by Slayer. You will not regret it... maybe :)
Adam Jones has another career - he's worked on over a dozen Hollywood movies.
Tools and journey brother
