Such a great idea to bring the writers on the show. Gives us all a chance to see what kinda relationship these individuals have with this legend of a host.
"Oh, snap - America is healed 😐" resonated with me in such a way I had to choke down a giant laugh to avoid startling my rabbit, pause the video, and write this comment before my life could continue.
I think I'm realizing that part of the reason I like after midnight is that Taylor Tomlinson has the vibe of that 20-something volunteering at kids club telling all the kids the rules to dumb games
I'm so glad to start meeting some of your writers! I always love how Seth Meyers highlights his writers, by name. It's such a generous way to build their careers and recognize their contributions.
2:17 "...Lock the doors!" They're talking about closing out the "real" world and staying inside this episode of this show from now on to keep out the unfathomable weirdness beyond their walls in that moment, but to me that's like the first act of Zombie Apocalypse movies. They're gonna barricade themselves inside this moment but as Taylor once said in her early comedy sets: "WINTER IS COMING!" The zombies are invevitable and relentless and if our stalwart protagonists on the screen right now close themselves off in this time and space, they're trapping themselves in with no means of escape. As Zombie Movies go, that's never a good outcome.
When trump got elected in 2016 I happened to be in the middle of snowy Pennines in the north of England... it was a one-week residential course and the location was an old mansion that had once belonged to the poet Ted Hughes. There were 14 of us, all passionately anti-trump, some American, and that evening over dinner we shared a very similar fantasy about barricading ourselves in that house and living off the land. We even thought about how we could defend it if necessary! 🤣 That line brought it all back, very vividly. You are right, of course, but I'm wondering if it's possible to exorcise the zombie apocalypse simply by acting like we're in a different movie.
The towel swan nobly revolving in the background is just the best 🤣
I really appreciated that as well. So classy, it's like I'm on a Carnival Cruise 🚢
Nice to meet the writers. Looked up and saved some of their standup ro watch later
Damn good idea! Thanks 😊
Hey at least you guys get to work in a supportive workplace with like-minded people that are feeling what you're feeling. We're not all so lucky.
not gonna lie, the writers as guests, best episode so far
Trying to guess chair noises is madness: sheer foley.
Axel?
You win for the foley joke :P
I see what you did there, and I like it

You guys are so amazing together. This is so cathartic to me as a person. I feel so isolated irl

"Well, at least I'm not going to do it ". rotfl!
Those are so musical chairs.
I don't know why cuz I don't think this would really be his vibe, but I would love to see Bo Burnham on here. Or really just anywhere!

I need an After Midnight mug. Can I have one please?
My first thought when she said about the couch game:

Points idea for Couch Game:
Couch decides on 1 answer, but anyone can decide to opt out.
Right = +points
Wrong = -points
OptOut = 0points

Greatest Panel Of All Time
This show has writers?
I didn't know the Unnecessary Inventions guy had a twin.
