The presentation just before Tao's was discussing the idea that God is a woman and it was so much more civil and respectful than the charcuterie board violence
What Tao does with charcuterie is despicable and it was a disgusting act. I would like to formally state that I do not stand behind ANYTHING Tao put forward, and I hope that we as a community can come together and overcome.
It gets better(worse?), I don't think he was even applying to attend the university, just asking them to to give him an honorary degree solely because he asked 😂

Listen. I firmly believe that selling people on something almost always comes across as inauthentic and unhelpful. But Dropout is my favorite streaming service by a mile. Game Changer and Um Actually alone are worth it, and then you’ve got all the other gems like this show.
What I love so much about the Smartypants Society is how it has the exact same energy and you and your friends arguing about a pedantic little topic that has no real weight to it at 1 am on the drive home from a Denny's as everyone scrambles to defend their unhinged takes and theories. Except Dropout made every one a talented comedian and gave them a budget. It's amazing.
My personal top 3 speeches from Smartypants S1 1. Cartoon characters at the cookout (ft Spiderman should start using the N word) 2. Honorary Degrees by asking for one 3. Vegetables aren't real
"Spiderman should start using the N word" is golden. Vegetables aren't real - was startling to learn how it is real. Don't fuck with the ocean - pretty on point though. Yet, the spworm must be my favorite - just love Paul after that whole rollercoaster of a presentation.
Honestly, I would love to do something like a "Smartypants party" where friends make their own presentations, and then everyone dresses up to gather and present them
Jacob's presentation is just pure gold and my favorite part of it is Erika going "ohhh" when he explains that since Bigfoot has opposable thumbs, he can roll a thicc doobie.
I always thought the piano teacher proudly saying “that’s my student!” at the end of Groundhog Day while watching a grown man who has, just a few hours before, entered her house for the first time, played flawless jazz piano and then left, to be a bit suspect. So thanks to PFT.
I'm a huge dropout watcher and find a lot of it really funny, Paul's presentation is the thing i have laughed the hardest at on there. I've watched it like eight times and it doesn't lose its shine
It's definitely one of the most deliciously cohesive theses. I'm realizing I've been gravitating towards the absurd ones (the Bodies presentation may be one of my favorite things for a while, cannot get anyone in my life to enjoy it as much as I do. And The Ocean is close), but close on the heels are Jess and Paul F Tompkins (and others I'm surely forgetting rn)
One of my favorite bits was during the Groundhog Day speech, where Jess was reacting to Paul's slide by shouting "Question marks!!" and he just goes "Very good, Jess. Very good"
God I keep trying to rank my favorite episodes and then getting reminded of like three more that are absolutely iconic, maybe I should just rewatch the whole series…
The sporm suggestion made that whole presentation from Paul my favorite. Although, chatting with friends I couldn't help bring up the cookout and the suggestion for what spiderman can do so he can get invited to the cookout.
18:25 I like to imagine he apologized during that cut bit. It would be hilarious to apologize to someone for the mischaracterization bit and then immediately transition into pretending Grant said the N-Word.
I remember I first watched Ryan's presentation and he started talking about getting a person to vouch for him, I really thought it would be, like, someone like Sam's father or something. Nope!
lorne elliot used to say if you can't be funny, be local. this seems to have changed a bit in the past 30 ish years since he said it. this compilation is great because some people are funny, some are leaning on local.
Amazing how Paul's Spworm was so visceral and disgusting yet Tao's terrible charcuterie opinions got the most rage.
The presentation just before Tao's was discussing the idea that God is a woman and it was so much more civil and respectful than the charcuterie board violence
When Tao said nothing sweet on a charcuterie board I had to turn it off.
I feel like making it a Tier List encourages the outrage.
Tao's insanity lead to my friends and I making our own lists and then yelling at each other about them.
What Tao does with charcuterie is despicable and it was a disgusting act. I would like to formally state that I do not stand behind ANYTHING Tao put forward, and I hope that we as a community can come together and overcome.

The Ocean - Undefeated in Combat.
The entire ocean bit had me cackling
