  • "I always have an existential crisis every time I'm on one of those talk shows."
Aubrey Plaza reveals that she’s actually trying to “act normal” during her viral talk show interviews but always end ups acting “awkward and weird”. She explains why late night interviews make her so uncomfortable and why she’d rather humiliate herself instead of being fake.
Many clips of Aubrey’s funniest and best moments on live interviews are also included, including interviews with David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, Ellen Degeneres, Stephen Colbert, and Jimmy Fallon.

She's a national treasure. Those hosts must be on a knife edge, wondering what on earth she'll say next.

"Are you on medication, some sort of a..."
"Oh, I'm on s-s...oh, no, not prescription."
Perfect timing and delivery, and she was watching Dave's reaction. She's one of the funniest people out there.

Interviewing Aubrey reminds me of the old saying, "Be careful what you ask for, because you just might get it."

The woman has turned crippling social anxiety into a goldmine. I was listening to her on the Mike Birbiglia podcast, and she said she goes out there and her mind turns into loud static, and this is what comes out of her mouth.

Aubrey Plaza is the weirdest celebrity chick out there, but for some reason she’s sexy as hell being her weird, uncomfortable self. She’s gorgeous, quirky, sweet and totally hilarious.

My favorite Aubrey interview is when she put on the cat ears and became a cat before our very eyes!

Aubrey’s awkwardness is what makes her so charming.

She is very similar to Teri Garr as a talk show guest. All the same qualities.

Most comics can't think of the stuff Aubrey just lets roll out of her mouth. Amazing persona. The fact that she's 'drop dead' gorgeous is an added bonus.

I don’t know about you guys but she seems to have gotten a lot more comfortable in interviews over the years with more experience. She seems a lot more capable of plugging whatever movie or project she’s promoting without feeling weird or “fake”.
Who do you think interviews her the best? When she started out in her early 20s she was entertaining but visibly nervous on Letterman (which is understandable since he’s intimidating to a lot of guests). Her handful of Fallon appearance were not great and she was on Conan way more than any other show (he’s good at matching her energy imo). Colbert seems to be the second best at interviewing her? In any case, it’s always entertaining and funny watching her despite (because of?) her nerves, which makes her even more endearing to me.

You’re correct. Conan and Colbert can improv with whatever happens. The Off Camera interview with Sam was also well done. He got good information, but it was less about comedy.

It's not hard to recognize a neurodivergent who pretends to be someone else for a living who is instead expected to just be herself for an audience. Maybe it's easier for another neurodivergent to see it.

Well, some of the time, I think she's nervous because those short little dresses are about to reveal more than she intended (but which all the boys deeply appreciate). 😏
