Ive been looking all over Toronto for souse and im never able to find it. Im only able to get it when I go back home....... Now With your direction in this video I can make my own....Souse for daysssss now. Thanks!!!!
I was in Toronto for Caribana this year(2018) and had the best pig foot Souse I've eaten in years. Some guy was selling it out of the trunk of his car. It was the best $10 I ever spent😊. I can't get anything Trini living in Los Angeles so I was in food heaven in Toronto.
This is so very interesting. My parents used to make something similar, in their own Italian way, they used pig feet, even a pigs head. I remember being grossed out, but it actually was quite tasty when eaten with bread haha. Thanks for sharing
+What to cook. The green chive which we call it in trinidad is not shallots its scallions. shallots is a family to onion its has a sweeter taste and much smaller. Thanks for sharing.
No. I put the salted pigtails into pressure pot with water and put the pot the stove. Allow the pigtails to get tender. When that is done throw out that water, rinse the pigtails and add fresh water to make souse
This need more shadon beni, salt and pepper. The sauce need more color basically. Need more lime as well. U could see the oils from the pig feet so it needed another rinse of water. That cucumber cut too thin. Can't believe I saw this 🫣
Godscience DNA Music Productions You should try the Asian market. I have purchased some before and I believe the sign said cilantro so it may be considered a variety of cilantro. Hope this helps.
good to see these recipes that I grew up on# trini pride
+Torey Keith (THE RESISTANCE) thank you
Thanks I'll try it

How would you cook salted pigtails? Is the boiling process different , should you steep it overnight first?

I don't think we have those leaf veggies( dont remember the name )where I'm from I guess I'll have to try it without it will it come out okay?
either the chive or the bhandania aka chadon beni aka culantro.
bhandania/chadon beni/ culantro, is such a strong flavor and aroma, that if any recipe has it, it usually is a vital part.
Is it possible to do this without a pressure pot?
Yes it is possible but it will take about a minimum of 1 hour to tenderize the pig feet.
Crock pot
No vinegar?
Leo N as long as I use the lime I wouldn't use vinegar.
My granny uses both we all do
Leo N no
