I'll be streaming some Thrawn's Revenge (Empire at War Mod) in about 45 minutes. Big battles incoming. See ya at 7PM EST.
www.twitch.tv/eckhartsladder
it's way. I have to ask, do you lean more empire or rebel?
I would like to see my upgraded Providence Class vs either a First Order SD or an Empire SD or both in one video still only 1 on 1 #ASKECK
There is a mod called star wars empire at war remake its really good try it it has a huge variety of mon calamari ships
EckhartsLadder oh man....my blood is getting pumped up for excitement! Mmmmmm! The biggest part is which Dreadnought is gonna win?
The only reason I am not a fan of the Mon Cala design, is the hard point bulges, I can't really explain why I don't like them but I just don't find them aesthetically pleasing
Ahh, Mon Cal cruisers, the Star Wars equivalent of Metapods constantly using Harden.
Captain Cutter I mean, you’re not wrong.
So, what kind of pokemon masters would everyone be? Palpatine would be Giovani for sure. Luke can be Ash I guess? Thrawn can make Team Rocket competent.
@@Alexthe360Great its not that deep bud
Alexthe360Great is day the bad guy(can’t remember the name) from rogue one would probably comp best with the leader of team skull. Or just a member because of the incompetence.
Mon Cals sheild generators get harden with blue pills
IRL, ships of the same class are rarely identical....example is Fletcher class destroyers in WW2 that had round or square smokestacks depending on the contractor. These variations were not sub-classes.
I was wondering if anyone else would mention this. Another reason most irl ships have differences even in the same class is because it takes so long to build them that new upgrades and modifications can be built directly into new ships, where older ships of the same class need retrofits, which might not happen.
Right - and honestly, I don't believe even the "mass manufactured" ISDs were truly identical. Anything that size is going to have some variation even if built in the same production batch, and if they're from different batches, evolving design theory and new tech will lead to constant minor changes, even if just things like shifting around cable runs and plumbing.

@@Sereze001 Indeed.
WAAAAAGGGGHHHH!
Everyone has their own design preferences but as an engineering student I actually prefer the fact that the empire has a consistent design that is easier to produce on a large scale.
The uniformity and projected power of the ISD series is a good part of why I love them. Good military ship, visibly a warship and obviously threatening.
But I love the Mon Cal cruisers for the exact opposite: sleek, powerful, but not threatening, and wonderful variety in general shape.
Like comparing a shark to a whale, almost.
I dislike them partially for that reason, their mass-production highly standardized design results in tactical rigidity that I think severely limits what Imperial fleets can do when it should be a design advantage. If Imperial ships were mass produced with modularity in mind they could retain that benefit of easy production while incorporating a greater range of customization that could allow one class of ship to fulfill more than one function. For example have those enormous power supplies for an ISD's turbolaser banks run into a set of modular sockets into which multiple different components could be installed, so they could relatively quickly swap out some weapons for extra shield generators, or large banks of anti-fighter weapons, or tractor beam projectors, etc. Incorporate redundant shield projectors and make armor plating applicable in removable layers so ships can add or subtract armor to fit other mission profiles, and most importantly make more efficient use of that enormous hangar bay which is almost always sitting empty to instead hold a proper space superiority fighter.
@@youtubeisapublisher6407 That is why you have different ship classes. Each one is good at a specific role and they are then deployed to support each other. Having too many of one type and the Tarkin doctrine where the Empires weakness not having a common design that is easy to replicate and mass produce. Even if you designed something to have some modularity you still need a base design that is easy to replicate. This is seen in all forms of manufacturing and is done for a reason.
@youtubeisapublisher6407 That was more down to fleet design than anything else though. The empire should have had OTHER classes, newer versions of the Acclamator for instance, as well as dedicated carriers. The Empire just tried to use the ISD fir EVERYTHING, even stuff it wasn't suited for like starfighter screening.
All Mon Calamari, speaking in perfect unison: "We are all unique. Every one of us is an individual. We are all different and special and valuable for our uniqueness. "
You should do a video on the 5 worst/ best Mon Cal ships and rank them
I hope you make some videos about Star Wars legacy era, too. It seems there are not many people analyzing that era despite the fact that there are several interesting things.
Mon Cal makes some of the most artistic Ships in Star Wars, I am kind of sad they are moving to a more Star Trek name convention vs Naming a class of Ships are the First of its Kind as the US Navy does.
I found the raddus to be quite underwhelming in the last jedi...
ya, same here.
yep
Just because it was in full retreat during the film. Keep in mind guys, the Raddus was a massive ship (about twice the size of the malevolence and a 3rd the size of a SSD) with shields that had no trouble dealing with very heavy fire for long periods of time. That is very impressive.
Alexander Greyling Heavy fire? Sporadic fire you mean. 3 fighters almost destroyed the ship
@@345635356 The Raddus was 3,8km long, whereas the malevolence was 4,8km long, about 25% longer. And the fire was not heavy at all, about one shot every few seconds. There was no impressive feat shwon in the movie by the raddus.
It's a refreshing change of pace to hear someone say something nice about the canon
By any chance are you one of the very few people who actually like the new movies?
@@adamsrealm thanks for proving my point. I don't think they're as good, but I also don't think they're nearly as bad as everyone else seems to
@@adamsrealm Oh bugger off with the "few people".
It’s unfortunate that hating on the new Canon has become “cool” in the minds of so many Star Wars fans because, even if you don’t like the movies, most of the new books and comics are really good.
Kylo Katarn i also like that they try to establish some continuety. i love legends but lets face it, it was a mess
To be fair, I always assumed that the differences between each legends MonCalCru were simply just alterations on where the 'bubbles' in the surface of the hull were, and where the weapons were specifically placed.
Take one (or several) of your old, worn out books and make a 'new' book by putting them into binders. Might cost a bit more than a new book (might cost less, too), but having them in sleeves means that they don't get damaged anymore, even if you game with them. Buy yourself a new copy to have pristine, if you want.
Having the book in a folder makes it a lot harder to damage further, and if you use it a lot for reference, then you might find this easier. You can also take out pages for scanning, copying, etc..
You're welcome. :)
I've always kinda read the ships being similar, but not the same. So I can really see your line of thinking and how you can make conclusions. Another great video, nice job!

Dis the Mon Calamari have star fighters and if not why not
leon fierce I believe they did carry small amounts of star fighters but because star fighters had their own hyper drives they didn’t need to be stored on bigger ships.
@@noncekebab9813 I think he means do they have their own designs
Most ships of cruiser size and larger had fighter wings. There were even some smaller patrol ships and modified ships that would carry limited fighter capabilities (the Corellian Blockade runners could be outfitted to carry a small wing of fighters). While small fighters pre-Battle of Yavin (at least in older version of the lore) were viewed like pre WW2 in perspective on air craft. They had not been proven (until a handful of them destroyed an indestructible battlestation) but everyone knew that having at least some was important. All of the old new cannon had the Mon Calamari ships in capital ship rolls and often noted that they all worked as fleet carriers.
@@michaelscalese4656 yes, thank you, I mean if they designed star fighter's that were of Mon Calamari design that the Mon Calamari could sell or use not if there ship's carried star fighter's, I already know they do
@@LoneWolf20213 we do see mon calamari fighter craft in an old clone Wars comic but we don't know much about them besides the fact that they could function underwater as well as in space

CAS Assault Carrier vs Resurgent Class Star Destroyer
(43rd try, like so eck can see!)
shahmir m gotta put a #AskEck in there chief
shahmir m CAS :)
Depends on how powerful the projectiles are. Given that it’s canon, the projectiles in SW are weaker, therefore the CAS wins.
I don't care about ship comparison it depends on countless factors and it can lead to overrating or underrating some designs.
#askech what is your favorite star wars legends faction?
The Rebel alliance, new Republic & the resistance

*Attempt 445*
Do the Forerunners vs The Warhammer 40k galaxy.
I'm so glad that you mentioned dice's laziness
Good video! I liked your analysis, I agree with new canon changing things and I like it! Though I'd like to see more Rebel and New Republic captial ships besides them
I'm so excited for March 29th! Keep it up Eck you're the best!!
How do micro-hyperspace jumps work, especially when compared to regular hyperspace jumps? More specifically, how do they work in the heat of battle? #askeck
Video suggestion:
Legends Tie Defender vs. X-83 Twintail
IMHO They work with a *Inderdictor* equipped ship to pull the other ships out of hyperspace, a tactic used effectively by *Thrawn* for a surprise precision attack.
Others used it as well, known also as a *precision hyperspace jump,* it involved using gravity wells (artificial or natural) to kick a ship out of hyperspace in a predetermined location, but it was risky and required careful calculations otherwise you _ate_ nearby objects.
But the idea of Star Wars ships being able to make short range jumps in battle is wheeled out in versus match ups with Star Trek in an attempt to counter the insane maneuverability of Starfleet capital ships, (while completely ignoring weapons ranges as well) by inadequate fanboys.
Trying to beat Star Trek ships in theoretical match ups has done damage to Star Wars, with technical references and guides being written to only one up Star Trek figures already released, and with no reference to actual Star Wars lore or screen representations.
For example according to a technical manual released after the Star Trek technical manual, an ISD is supposed to have the power output of a star, which makes it the _most inefficient ship ever._ And considering it should be able to slag a planet, what's the point of building a Death Star?
I love Battlestar Galactica and Firefly/Serenity, but combine all factions from both IP's and put them up against the forces of Jupiter Ascending and they wouldn't last an hour.
So _Jupiter Ascending_ is the best work of science fiction?
Micro jumps as in hoping around the battlefield don't exist outside of some poorly written EU fanfic.
casbott you’re talking about the Thrawn Pincer which is completely different. And micro-jumps do appear in official EU material. The one that I can remember off the top of my head was in a minor battle between smugglers and Imperial forces that happened in one of the books in the Solo Trilogy
its basically flicking the switch to the hyper drive for the barest fraction of a second, and not even fully powering it sometimes
thats the difference between Thrawns plans and theirs, Thrawns was unnaturally precise every time, where as most who did it did it purely by instinct, guts, knowledge, and listening to the force, and they often were not very preecise, but it got everything working and within reasonable distance IF you were good and precise enough at aiming and throttling up the hyperdrive for less then a second, atleast by non astromech standards
We saw the frigate Warspite do some neat looking microjumps across a battlefield in the original X-Wing video game. Likely a game mechanic to spawn waves of bombers in different spots. The same scenario is seen in the first X-Wing novel as a simulator run.
Mandator vs. Subjugator
UNSC Infinity vs. Any ship of your choosing

"And made them better"
You wanna go, Ecks?
I feel like the emphasis may be slightly overstated on your part, but I am happy to see that Canon is keeping to the idea of the Mon Cala and making it more explicit
wouldnt the unstandard way MC80 class ships are, make it hard to resupply/repair??
unless each ship captain, ship crew maintain their own ship, rather than centralized station/s
i think they mean a little detales, such as a little diffrnet places bulbs or diffrent interiors, NOT as whole new ships.
I love the Mon Calamari cruisers, and I can honestly say that this short film on the Viscount has got me excited once more for Star Wars. My massive disappointment in Lucasfilm, bar Rogue One, had nearly extinguished my love of new Star Wars content completely, but these fan films on Vader, Jabba's Rancor and now this Dreadnought battle have finally reignited my enthusiasm for Star Wars, and this channel has also been paramount in keeping that dwindling flame of interest lit, so thanks EckhartsLadder for all the hard work and effort you put into your content, you have given this fanboy back his hope.
I'd like to see a video that compares different styles of light sabers.
#AskEck
I was wondering if you would do a video on the Jawa and their sandcrawlers and maybe an in-depth video on the Tusken Raiders as well! I really enjoy your Star Wars and Halo videos! They are not just interesting but informative so I wanted to say thank you for the time you put into them! Thank you for everything in advance Eck!
TROS really took this to heart- the mon cals in the galaxy fleet had a lot of variations of already seen designs.
#askeck What If Admiral Shack commanded the Imperial Fleet at Endor?
(I’m here to make a fun suggestion, and possibly hinting you guys towards a collaboration in the future)
Hey Eck! Love your stuff and Ive been watching a couple years now but never requested any video topics before but I think I have a good one! Id like to see a versus between one of the Sith Intridictor ships from KOTOR and, a Halcyon class ship from Halo. I know it probably couldnt take on a Star Desroyer but considering vast amount of time and improvements to ships is star wars between the old republic and say the Battle of Yavin, I think a Halcyon might stand pretty good chance of taking the win. Thank you so much for all your amazing content and, even considering making my suggestion into a video! Thanks Eck! Keep up the good work! Love ya man!

Oh my gosh it looks so good!!
Great review/video 👍☯️👍
For practicality's sake, it makes more sense to have at least a standardized backbone of sorts, before adding individualized elements to it. Otherwise every single ship would have to be engineered from ground up, thus taking longer to build and making it more difficult to maintain afterwards. Engineering problems would also be more difficult to root out because different for every single ship and the crews would have a steeper learning curve when being transferred from one ship to another.
I so hope that after Epsiode 9 we'll get Empire at War 2...
Just the same game but expanded in a lot of directions (more factions, more units per faction, etc.) and modernized (midern graphics, better ai, less glitchy maps/view)...
Who would've thought when Jedi came out that "Pickle ships" would be so awesome.
Thanks for the birthday present lol perfect day to release the battle
Oh man! I can’t wait! 😆😆
#AskEck speaking of Mon Calamaria ships, is the Mon Calamari Cruiser we see in the 2005 Battlefront 2 a variant of any Mon Calamari class, or just an asset made for the space battles of that game and no relevant otherwise?
That is a very good question, I never thought about that because I very rarely play the space battles, I hate them, when I do play them I end up staying on the enemy ship killing as many pilots as possible.
It's a Home One variant
@@EchthelionII Not gonna lie, that was one of my favorite things to do in space battles too was get the Award Pistol and just two shot enemies.
@@Alexander9924 That would actually make sense yeah, thanks!
@@Gamrison Even though I love the precision pistol, it was way too powerful, insta kill with a head shot, otherwise depending on the target minimum of 2 shots, I think 3 or 4 for a Wookiee, it's essentially a pocket sized sniper rifle, I also really enjoy using the elite rifle and the flechette shotgun.
+1, Your channel is very nice!! hugs from Brazil!!🇧🇷
Hey Eckharts I love Mon Calamari cruisers as well
Hey another great video.
Btw are you uploading anymore empire at war videos? Would love to see some Mon cala ships in action.
the fastest 40k vid recommendation this side of the Mississipi
This video is a work of art too.
I don't get how anyone can dislike a video from Ek.
Please do witch sci fi faction has the best planetary weapon QEP precours (Subnautica) Ion cannon rebels (Star Wars) Mass driver UNSC (Halo)
What would be cool is when depicting mon Cal ships from the beginning to early-mid GCW they’re all very different and custom, but when depicting ships from the late to post GCW, they’re all very standard and similar. This showing the militarisation and standardisation the mon calamari when through during the war
My favorite is the mc75 profundity...
It loos awesome to me
i LOVE mon cal cruisers, I always thought their organic/artistic ship design was an excellent foil to the uniformity of the Empire, thanks for this video, and yes, I think canon has portrayed them as more unique than they have usually appeared in media
Thank you so much for always giving the Canon a fair look Eck. It gets really annoying to see so many people blindly declare the Canon as bad without giving it a chance or properly looking at it.
*Eck:* * *_wishes for an EaW remake_* *
*EA:* lol
*Me:* Awakening of the Rebellion it is
Also, I’d like to mention that in Battlefront 2 we see that some mc80 liberty types have those cool side mounted heavy ion cannons.
#AskEck Delta Squad (Republic Commando) vs The Cyberdemon (Doom 2016) 2nd Try
They'll get annihilated easily.
@@bradmorales4002 I still think the cyberdemon is vulnerable to Delta Squads weapons, especially the sniper and grenade attachments of the DC-17M, plus thermal detonators. Also the cyberdemon seems to only heal itself when it absorbs argent energy.
@@Reyma777 ohhh.
Yes, finally a star wars fan film about space battle
I used to, and still somewhat do, love the sharp arrowhead of the ISD I/II. But I adore the MC-80 series ships, partly for the variety. It doesn't matter how I draw or build it, as long as I get it "eh, close enough" to the general-ish shape of the Liberty or MC-80a styles.
This is why I love the canon they made Mon Cala cruisers have unique designs.
I was forced to watch this video by a friend who has a huge crush on your UA-cam channel.
I liked the video for both your approval and his.
:)
Watch the tie fighters carefully at 2:37 and you can see two rows of four Tie Fighters just appear out of nowhere on screen. Pretty good timing considering he was just mentioning the realities of film making.
Is the mandator classes of ship canon (i forgot if the assererter class is part of the mandator line)
#Askeck can you do monsters compare video?
Godzilla
Scp 682
Pacific rim kaijus
Kong
This wouldn't be very fair. SCP 682 is keter class, so it could easily win. Also, even normal sized kaijus from pacific rim are much bigger than either kong or godzilla. However, godzilla could probably beat a kaiju, so the ranking would look something like this.
1. SCP 682. Easily beats everyone else.
2. Godzilla. His atomic breath can take out a kaiju or King Kong.
3. Kaiju. Can easily beat Kong.
4. Kong. Big gorilla.
5:03 EA will never remake Empire at War, because they can't stuff it full of microtransactions and paid loot boxes. Sad but true.
Well, EA contract is going to expire eventually...
Lucasfilm Games is being brought back by Disney, so maybe we’ll get something like that.
@@kylokatarn9080 that doesn't matter they can't make Star Wars games even if they bring back Lucasfilms Games EA has exclusive rights to produce all Star Wars games and even if that agreement expires Disney will probably just renew it because they love EA they're both greedy scummy companies and greedy scummy companies stick together
I really wish we will get to see Mon Cala on the big screen or in some of the upcoming streaming shows!!!
Nice
Just for either the thrawns revenge mod or something else you could create a variation of certain models and when pulled in from your hot bar it could be classed as an MC80 but be slightly different in appearance and not in weaponry or shielding like a randomization for skirmishes between AI or player battles. Like if there was 3 variations of the same ship in appearance you could click on it and it would randomly choose the number set for the model and pop that in
Hey, I'm also love Mon Calamari ship, too! I like the MC80a.
I love the way theyre treating them!
See you at the stream

article 14 has passed so sad. anyway great video

Hey Eckhatsladder. Great video, but I wanted to point out that the origin of many Mon Calamari ships has change. IIRC, and correct me if I’m wrong, the new canon has also made many Mon Calamari ships their homes that they used to evacuate their homeworld. This, to me, make them even more brave than before, cause they’re literally throwing their homes into danger.
With your comment about working a mechanic of randomness into a potential Empire at War remake, do you think an interesting method to this would be to have no set price for an MC-80 but instead it’s how much your willing to put up for one and this determines the strength of the ship (shield strength, firepower, etc). To work with this you could have procedurally generated hulls for aesthetics that would cause each ship to look different
"I think it'd be cool... empire at war remake..."
EA: "Hmm? Live Service with Microtransactions?"
Eck, can you explain why lightsabers have different ignition speeds?
My guess is the cells used to power them, in terms of number and/or quality.
#askeck wouldn’t be great if the extra bulbs on the Mon Calamari ships specifically the MC80 HOME ONE house extra star fighters or would they be better off as redundant shield Generators?
Its likely the differentiation or sub classes centers around reactor output. While they can carry vastly different equipment configurations the potential of the ship is limited by how much power it has available for weapons and engines.
Also Holy damn battle of the Dreadnaughts is coming out on my sisters birthday awa
I like to think that the Mon Cal design philosophy is not to dis-similar to the the Yzong Vong, that a ship take it's own organic structure like a coral reef.
For all each ship is unique you'd think they would need to have a certain uniformity to them. Maybe that's how the subtypes came about. To build starships there would need to at least be a sort of design and testing to ensure its space worthy.
So maybe that's how the basic winged or non winged variants came. Then the interchangable pods came into play where various options and shapes or even towers could be fitted.
I agree the chances are the more militarized they become the more uniform they would become as they would focus more on weapon and shielding pods being added onto the same few base chassis.
I would like to see a video on if the Rakatan Empire could have fended off the Yuuzhan Vong
#askeck do we know anything about covenant losses during the human covenant war? I always wondered what the cost of the war was to the covenant
I myself was fine with the EU(legends) way as I always took the differentiation to mean more internal differences. This could include the ship layout or maybe more shield or power generators in the ship. The external differences I always thought were ships that either had more turbo lasers, ion cannons, point defense, or at most maybe an extra deck for fighters to leave and enter from so an individual ship could act more as a carrier. But the overall design was the same as to much external difference would be murder on the factory workers
I like the new history behind them
I like to think that each mon Cala ship was the same outer look so that the enemy (in this case the empire) cannot fully know where all of the subsystems are on them so that the other ships in the fleet weren’t at any risk of destroying the entire fleet and also that if a mon Cala ship is disabled they can still prove a big threat to the empire.
Fluid approach! Ha!
Which game was that you showed clips from with the fleet battle? Thanks
I know this is late but it fan made video made by him.
I like all the new variants we got in the comics at Mako Ta
Can anyone tell me which class the ship at 4:24 is?

Frigates seem to be such a middle child in that they are not well recognized due to not being small enough to personalize and not big enough to have destructive potential, except in the case of the Munificent Class and the Nebulon B to some extent.
Which is why I'd like to ask you: *Which Frigate class do you find to be the best?*
Hey Eck, I have been a big fan of your channel for a wile, and I was thinking about becoming a member. I just wanted to hear if it was worth it from some other members first.
I think that each mc ship are different but they go into classes eg 500 m- 700m and 60 -50 weapons is a Mc-30 and 1500 m-1000 m 150 -100 weapons with wing is a mc -80 and without is a mc -85 like this
Recusant Class Light Destroyer vs Something
To be fair I would prefer some battle analasis from YW war or Second galactic civil war from EU.
I don't dislike new cannon but I don't like it either so I prefer old EU stuff.
Replicators vs a Unified Star Wars universe (484th try now, *_I._** WILL NEEEEVER EEEVER GIVE UP!!!)*
replicators win.... star wars doesnt have the necesary technology or way of thinking, jedi could understand them, but would likely never build something like Daniel Jacksons and Space Mcguyvers energy wave device ( i know Daniel Jackson was just the ships name that he used to build it.... but still :p )
unless the force gave them a vision... you know what the force makes it possible, but only by prescience and the natural talent of those who can listen to the force
i was wondering if the CIS used astromech droids to plan hyperspace jump? we've never seen any in the movie or clone wars series.
Starship versus: Harrower class Dreadnaught vs Victory class Star Destroyer
I feel that there's a huge divide between mon calamari canon and fan interpretation of canon. Everyone seems to pretend these things have guns but the only ships ever shown firing weapons in the rebel fleet are the Tantive IV, the Millenium Falcon, and the fighter craft. I'd love to see a movie or any of the official canon TV shows have a mon cal cruiser firing on screen more than having more designs and ship variations.
#AskEck if disney decide to make athrawn movie whst do you think thst definitaly should be put in it? And do you think it is a good idea at all?
