On today's episode of sci-fi factions compared, we look at popular capital ships from Star Wars, Halo and Battlestar Galactica.
It's a four way battle, as we look at four well-known ships from Halo, Star Wars, and BSG: the MC-85 Raddus Mon Calamari cruiser from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the UNSC Infinity, from Halo, the Battlestar Galactica and the Imperial II Star Destroyer (based on Star Wars Legends lore).

@@firestorm165 depends on what your trying to do. The Inifnity is the perfect longe range extended independent deployed ship because it's designed for the role. Not to mention its almost the text book example for what a capital ship is in essence and capability.

Galactica faced the worst odds compared to all the others and pulled through. She is a tough old lady, and you don't mess with old ladies.
But the Armor of the Galactica is just FRICKIN FUCKING AWESOME! I mean, she was hit by a hole lot of nukes and still wrecked the hell out of the Basestar!

The nukes in BSG were tactical level at most, maybe a few hundred kilotons each. Shiva nukes are 55 megatons each, massive difference.

LordSylvestrion I know I'm late to the party but I want to out in my cents regarding the Infinity v Galactica in terms of roles.
The Infinity, even without forerunner technology is better than the Galactica because while the Galactica is durable and did indeed serve as the hope for humanity, that wasn't what it originally was built for.
Yes it could sustain itself for long periods of time, but it wasn't built to carry the entirety of humanities hopes, the show references this as she was rushed into service, cutting corners and such.
Infinity on the other hand is what the Galactica was forced to become, almost entirely self-sustaining, capable of dealing decisive blows and getting the hell out. Again, this is not counting the forerunner tech later added to the design as it was built. She was made to do what Galactica was forced to do.
In that aspect I believe the Infinity does win.
I’m more of a Star Wars fan than that of Battlestar Galactica. But I have to ask, if you’re comparing Capital Ships...why did you pick the Galactica over the Pegasus?!??
Cause Galactica was the main one probably.
Might have to do with the Pegasus having the compromised avionics (the electronics package that the Cylons hacked in the first episode thanks to the traitors).

Well, they had to pit it against the Mantle's Approach, and it actually had to be able to do something to it, so yeah. It's far beyond anything in the Halo universe, barring Forerunner tech. When you calculate the total kinetic energy of its four MAC cannons firing all at once on a concentrated area like it did to the Mantle's Approach, the MA took a direct hit from an impact with energy roughly four times the impact that killed the dinosaurs, and all it managed to do was create a hole wide enough for Chief to fly a Longsword through to reach the inside of the ship. And the MA took that hit with its shields down at the point of impact no less. Nothing else would have been able to do literally anything to it. Even the Earth's orbital defense MAC stations weren't able to do anything to it. Hell, that shot really only managed to get Chief into the MA, because the thing repaired itself in seconds.
one correction it was a broadsword not a longsword, it may not seem important but it is. a long sword has a with of 75m or 246ft, a broadsword has a with 19.7m or 64.5ft.
I'm pretty sure the Infinity couldn't use its four MACs, as two of them are on each side. So the infinity only used two MACs.
To be honest, the mantles approach is a forerunner capital ship in itself. To see how the infinity went up against it, it did fairly well. Even if it did very poorly.

The problem with the term "best Capital Ship" is that it's such a broad category that comparing vessels based on that qualification gets a little tricky. After all, irl the phrase "Capital Ship" has been used for everything from Battleships, to Carriers, to Submarines. So, what really is a "Capital Ship"?
Simply put, a "Capital Ship" is a defined as any ship which is of sufficient strategic importance to the fleet it belongs to. Losing a capital ship is essentially a national tragedy for the nation which it belongs to, and as such these ships are usually deployed in groups when outside friendly waters, as they are too valuable to risk losing (this is why I kinda have problems thinking of the USS Enterprise from Star Trek as a "Capital Ship," but that's a whole other story). A ship can be considered of "Capital" importance either due to the financial cost of acquisition (like a modern aircraft carrier) or due to the weapons or technology aboard (like a nuclear submarine). With that in mind, what exactly makes for a good "Capital Ship"?
Then any more realistically sized interstellar nation's navy would be devoid of capital ships entirely, since they'd realistically have _millions_ of ships. Any one single ship would become insignificant at this kind of navy size.
And if you want to object to my idea of the realistic size of an interstellar nation's navy, remember that such a nation would not need "habitable" planets to live on. The sheer amount of usable real estate in even just a single solar system could dwarf most sci-fi galactic-scale star nations. That many people, that many resources, would justify a much, much larger defense force than sci-fi writers typically dare to put in their stories.
Capital ship in sci fi seems to be referring to the single largest and most powerful ship in the fleet or the entire navy of a certain faction. For example, the super star destroyer in star wars would be seen as a capital ship die to it being the largest and most powerful class of ship present in the imperial navy minus the death star (being as it is a space station not a ship). The Yamato in real world perspective would be an equivalent class of ship as compared to sci fi naval classification, it too was the largest and most powerful class of ship present within the ranks of the IJN during ww2, however it is not a fair comparison in reality as it was mediocre in performance due to being an outdated technology by that point and was easily destroyed by air superiority and torpedo bombing
@@theuncalledfor for one thing scify only shows you whut is naicesarry for the story... claing that you can unironically judge these things based on those n7ggets of information is a bit ... off. second, civillization doesn't have to expend perpetually like rabits... so even if all that space was trully usable, a civilization might not expand that way... take for example the q... they could use all the space in the universe, there could be infinite qqqqqqqqqqqqaqqqqwwwqqqqqqqqq....
third... the size and shape of ships depend on thei tech... the reason why star wars ships are generarly 3times or more as big as star trek ships can be boiled down to a need for cargo room... the sheir size of a hyper mater reactor as it scales to the ship in addition to cargo means these ships could be huge indeed... not to mention isues of trafic creating a need for a few bigger ships over a few billion smaller ones.
The Infinity Super carrier is like if the Starship Enterprise and a Harrower Class Sith Dreadnought had a baby, then it was raised by the Halyclon Class Light Cruiser.

Just finished rewatching it myself. It really is insane how much damage the bsg soaks up over the coarse of the show. Youd be hard pressed to find a ship with more plot armor, not counting the Millennium Falcon.
Ya, it's almost a joke on plot Armour when you consider that Galactica had most of its Armour and guns stripped. The original Jupiter class had 50 of those dual guns on the top and bottom and layered Armour.
I would rather replace Raddus with a different ship. Either one of ships from Star Trek, The Terran Battlecruiser from Starcraft or Normandy SR-2 from Mass Effect trilogy. If Raddus (ship) was defenseless and also the fact that there are two ships from Star Wars universe on this list, I think it was kinda a waste of time to talk about Raddus.

I vote replacing it with an Apocalypse class battleship 40k or a Retribution Class Battleship 40k or anything else you already listed for that matter. But maybe if we ask nicely he will make a new video comparing the ships we listed to the ones on this list minus one of the Star Wars ships. Hopefully minus the Raddus because its really not designed to take the kind of beating the other ships on the list or the ones you and I are suggesting are capable of.
I feel like Infinity is cheating by basically being the most giant most expensive ship imaginable. It should be compared with the Death Star.

If it was against the deathstar one it would obliterate the poor thing with the massive fuck you macs. If it was the deathstar two I guess they would kind of be at deadlock. The deathstar wouldn't be able to hit it and the infinity probably won't be able to punch through the shield. At least not quick enough for the deathstar to call in reinforcements. Unless the infinity puts a mac round into the shield generator moon side.

I feel as if including the Infinity on here made the whole match a bit unfair as that ship belongs more in the dreadnoughts section of ships.

+Pyroskies, are you sure you are not gunna use space marines?? Seriously the imperial guard doesn't really have anything that one ups the UNSC like I'm not even joking man, now if we had the space marines, entirely different story but nothing that the imperial guard has is better than the UNSC.
+Sidonex 5176, no no man imp. guard is pretty damned fair compared to the other factions, see the imp guard is seperate than the space marines and their should be no argument that spartans shreck imp guard soldiers. And then after they kill them they become more dangerous because like space marines they would probably pick up a las canon and tote it around the battlefield shrecking everything.
The Imperial Guard may not have space marines, but they have there Storm troopers which are equivalent to Spartan 3s. Besides, guardsmen alone have balls of steel considering the shit they've had to face alone, whether it be massive fungus monsters that can will anything to happen, slim yet extremely agile elves that can mind fuck you, massive armored super soldiers mutated by the warp, adaptive insects that can gut you with ease, to even fucking demons themselves, and yet the Guard have endured it all.
+Pyroskies, no the Storm troopers are more like ODST's not spartan 3's (the 3's were almost exclusively meant for infiltration with some of the only few not being meant for infiltration being the best of the best like Noble Team, which is why most had the SPI stealth armor.) Yah same with UNSC marines XD most of the time guardsmen get anally raped by what you mentioned and only some survive do to timely intervention of space marines. And let me list some of what UNSC marines had to fight, a parasitic race that both mind fucks you, makes you fight your dead allies, or alive allies while your dead, totally controls your body, can infect literally anything even just by physical contact or by breathing around them. They also had to fight the halo equivalent of necrons, the prometheans. Oh and unlike the imperial guard, the marines fought and beat covie troops where as the imp guard could hardly hold their ground against elder/tau/dark elder.

Thrawns fleet at Atollon vs the Separatists fleet at Christophsis.
The Eldar vs the Galactic Republic (Clone Wars era).
The Autumn-class heavy cruiser vs the MC80 Liberty type Star Cruiser.
The Yuuzhan Vong vs the Covenant.
First, these all sound like good matchups.

I don't think that the Infinity can be compared to the ISD. It's more comparable to a Praetor-II or some Dreadnought of sorts.
On paper. Technically speaking, any UNSC capital ship can take on an ISD if it is equipped with nuclear weaponry. Especially the Infinity.

Thread Revival here. Almost any UNSC ship would take ANY Star Wars ship, because if it was a first contact style scenario, one single MAC round would tear through the ship, as Star Wars shields only effect energy weapons. They have to switch to projectile shielding.
What Even Is A Good Name? No stars wars ships have two kinds of shields particle shields for energy weapons and Ray shields for projectile weapon like the unsc have. These both operate at the same time but ray shields probably don’t stand a chance against macs

The autumn class would have been more fair here as the infinity is a flag ship.
Also you need to decide if you are doing things in universe or comparatively. AI should be ignored for halo as they are standard if you are doing in universe also them having the ship be all about Mac shouldn’t count against them. If you are doing comparatively then fire power and range should be part of this discussion.
It definitely shouldn't have been the infinity. It is basically the halo equivalent of a super star destroyer. It carries an entire fleet into battle.

Really, AI is just a good touch-on. The true technological power Halo has in cross-universe comparisons is its Slipspace technology. Not only useful in traveling between systems, but also extremely useful in ship-to-ship combat.

I really like the Halo universe because it's so well thought- through. Many of these other factions (mainly in starwars) just use ships that make so little sense and it's always the plot that decides who wins, not the ships...

It's important to also know that a Battlestar like the Pegasus had an onboard factory that was capable to making Vipers. This only increases a Battlestar's sustainability.
That being said you could've also lumped the Pegasus in there as well w the Galactica to compare the pros and cons of both versions. Galactica vs Pegasus would be like the USS WASP vs USS Nimitz.

A small gripe for when it comes to BSG. The Mercury class is a far more superior ship than the old Jupiter class battlestar. We've seen that the BSG-62 Pegasus can use its forward weapons to inflict heavy damage on Cylon basestars. Not only that, the ship also has inverted flight pods making it able to carry more vipers and raptors. The Mercury class can also construct new vipers using mined ore and also has VR simulators to train new pilots.
I suggest you watch blood and chrome and see galactica at its peak when it was new. Its 8 guns on its back in the main series.. is nothing compared to its hay day. The entire top of the ship front to back is all artillery launchers. I believe 18-20 of them. Galactica in the nain series is at half strength at best

It looks phenomenal, it's name is amazing, and every time we see it for the first time in a piece of contentt it just looks awe inspiring, especially the very first time we got to see it on screen dwarfing the frigates we were so used to seeing during the final days of the human-covenant war

Hey, EckhartsLadder, I've been wondering. Which star wars faction Empire, Rebels, Republic and CIS has the best fighter pilots? I mean it might be hard with the CIS because of a lot of their fighters were controlled directly by a droid with no pilot. For easier comparison you could have them all in the same fighter, maybe the X-Wing. I'd love to see that and thanks for all the videos.

It would lose, plain an simple. It is durable, but the Resurgence has more numerous and more powerful turbolasers, more fighters, and their shields are redundant like the Mon Calamari cruisers.
Robert Nelson You know,something makes me think that these guns are of the same size/power magnitude as the planetary ion cannon on hoth,e.g. can disable of destroy a star destroyer in around 3 shots. These guns are just too big when compared to the scale of the ship on the schemes

What guns are you talking about? The MC-85 has turbolasers like a star destroyer, only a lot less.
The Resurgent outclasses the MC85 in almost any aspect, especially when it comes to arnament. I think the MC85 would be destroyed within seconds.

The captain of the ship is almost always more important than the ship itself.
But if I had a choose, the various Mon Calamari cruisers of my own universe are by far the “best” capital ships out there.

Generic Human Starcraft anything really. I don't know why virtually no UA-cam channels include Starcraft in their covered universes.

The problem with the UNSC Infinity is that its an unstoppable ship. When the thing enters battle it removes all tension from the scene because its so good.

What if the new flagship of the Rebels/Resistance (whatever they're called now) is a MC90?
I bet it won't even have shields. Mainly due to most ships in the new canon most ships don't have shields unless if it advances the plot. I also bet they got more of those big-ass bombers that scream "SHOOT ME!". And would it kill them to make a transport/gunship that has a rotating turret instead of a slow-moving brick-looking object with only a single forward facing gun? Seriously, who made these ship designs?
Their ship design budget went into the First Order's ships.
While the First Order has effective designs for capital ship engagements, the Resistance barely seems to have many capital ships. The mega super star destroyer was not needed, they should've invested more into point defense (AND SOME FREAKING SHIELDS FOR THE DREADNOUGHT) as well as more fighter designs. While they do have a pretty effective multi-role tie fighter, there is only how much a multi-role fighter can be, which is why the Rebel Alliance didn't use just X-wings, despite them being advanced multi-role space superiority fighters of their time. While the First Order designs are effective and improve upon the old Imperial warships, their fleet doctrine completely sucks. Also does anybody know why the First Order only launches 3 fighters to go after the main Resistance cruiser? I bet each of those Resurgence-class star destroyers held at least 100 tie fighters in their hangars, and who knows how many fighters the Supremacy held. Probably around 1000 in my guess. That number of star fighters vs a weak and crippled fleet with no fighters and little to no point defense would completely destroy them. Instead our incompetent Hitler wannabe decides to just fire only a single long-range turbolaser. Why? Rian didn't have a full plan of the movie a few months before release.
Shields in the new Star Wars seem to be more "bubble" like really.....fighters can get through and wreak havoc but they stop enemy fire from anything beyond a few meters from the hull of the ship.
Not to mention the New Order fleet commander made a huge mistake right at the start, ordering the Dreadnaught to bombard the evacuated base first, instead of firing on the Raddus and other ships, Giving Poe and the fleet time to destroy the Dreadnaught and escape...
Clearly the film makers never played Empire at War, or X-wing vs Tie Fighter, or anything remotely resembling a strategy mil sim..

Ok, I have a couple grievances with the way Star Wars is represented in standard cross-universe ship comparisons. Here’s what I mean:
Halo: The standard ship used for cross-universe comparison is the UNSC Infinity, the pinnacle of human innovation, the best ship in the UNSC and the ship the main characters are based off of.
Star Trek: (I know very little about Star Trek, bear with me here) I believe they generally use the Enterpise E as a comparison, which I believe is also the best ship in Starfleet. The main characters are also based off of an Enterprise E.
Battlestar Galactica: They of course use the Battlestar Galactica, the savior of the human race, and the main ship in the series, also the best ship in the Colonial fleet.
Star Wars: The Imperial II Star Destroyer, a ship with tons of guns and shields, only good for capital ship combat. Although it can outmatch almost any other capital ship of its time, size, and universe, it is a potato against anything else. It’s far from the best ship in the universe, and it is incredibly flawed. It also only shows average Star Wars engineering and technology, not the very best.
See what I mean here? In every other universe (except for Star Trek if I’m wrong with what I said) we choose the best, most powerful ship which is often used by the main characters and it’s simply either the pinnacle of the faction’s innovation or its savior, and then we move to Star Wars and choose a ship which is far from the best, far from the pinnacle of Star Wars innovation, and honestly I don’t feel that it represents Star Wars well. A better representative would be Home One, which although it isn’t the pinnacle of Star Wars innovation, it’s a great all around ship and as a singular vessel I believe it’s one of the best Star Wars has to offer in terms of a representative ship for the universe, and like all the other ships we choose, it’s the main capital ship of the goodguys, which evens that playing field. An alternative to Home One could be the Finalizer, or some other Resurgence class star destroyer, which is (at the time of this comment’s writing) the pinnacle of Star Wars capital ship innovation, with its insane firepower and average fighter power. If legends is taken into account, the Nebula class star destroyer could also be an adequate representative, since it combines the strengths of the Imperial II with the fighter power of the Home One and other Rebel ships, and although I do not believe it is the pinnacle of Star Wars Legends innovation, it’s certainly up there. So yeah for future videos concerning ship comparisons between Star Wars factions, I believe it is the best to pick something other than the Imperial II, one of the ships listed above would do a better job.
Faction comparisons are different because the Empire was the original dominant faction in the galaxy, so there it would be fair to use the Imperial II as a mainstay in the Imperial fleet. However, if we’re comparing the ships of each universe to each other, then I think the Imperial II should not be the go-to for that.

I think issue here is that when people are making those comparisions they are grabbing most iconic ship of the series - Star Trek? obviously Ent E or Ent D because everyone knows these, Star Wars? imperial star destroyers everywhere and you can't bring space station/starfighter/smuggler ship into comparision of capitals, BSG? series is named after the ship so it's obvious.
Not sure about halo cause I wasn't really into it at any point [mostly due to franchise being console based].
But then Galactica was not really "best" of colonial ships at the point of the show - actually as the series begun the ship was retired as museum ship due to it's age - it's kind of like you'd have claimed Iowa or Missouri being pinaccle of human naval technologies right now. We don't get much of time on screen for the actuall pinnacles because these got wiped out in initial attack [because defence network was compromised thanks to an effort of cylon pre-emptive infiltration]
Faring galactica vs imperial star destroyer is actually quite fair one ironically.
as for Enterprises and those halo thingies... well yeah hard to make fair comparision when you get writers basically making "perfect ship" to fill the needs of the plot.
MehrumesDagon If we’re grabbing the most iconic ship, Home One is also a good choice. It fits the same role as the other ships in the list (namely BSG, Infinity, Ent E) as the main good guy capital ship. It’s also iconic due to its role in episode 6.

We are not talking about ground forces, in which the Spartan soldiers would be the representatives of special forces (most likely), nor are we talking about main characters (except for the ships they use, if that makes sense), in which Master Chief would be the representative.

Ok so Snoke's fleet and the republic defense fleet hmm that's what maybe a hundred ships and I'm not going to try to count how many targets I mean fighters they deploy at a time. Vs UNSC home fleet with over 100 ships and 300 ODP's and the 60 to 341 ships of the Fleet of Particular Justice which was the fleet that attacked Reach and fought the battle of instillation 04 aka halo , the first one. Yeah that sounds like a great match up that would last all of 5 seconds as Snoke's fleet and the Republic defense fleet are vaporized in a hail of plasma fire and depleted Uranium shells. Seriously a single ODP super mac can put a round clean through two 29km capital ships and severely damage a third.

Yeah that's what I meant by dreadnought. It might not be as big as some covenant ships but bigger than anything else the UNSC has.
"Dreadnought" is just a term used to refer to an "all-big-gun" capital ship, the term was eventually replaced by the phrase "Battleship," which is also a type of capital ship. So, in essence, the UNSC Infinity is a Capital Ship. However, the term "Dreadnought" has basically taken on a life of it's own in pop culture, so nowadays it's really just used to refer to "any really honking giant ship".
I think he is referring to SW terminology. In SW a dreadnought is an executor sized ship.

In terms of fire power and especially maneuverability, the Viper would win hands down.
I'd rather have a viper mkII or mkVII vs a tie interceptor since they seem to have more maneuverability.
Alduin the Anti-Dragonborn True, tie interceptor or even something fancier. But yeah, probably interceptor since a tie model without shields would be useful. Viper is so damn maneuverable though. Star Wars usually has a tactic of flying behind someone, and a viper can just easily pull off a 180 and shoot backwards.

First off, the raddus had more weapons before the film, the ship would have probably 3.5 x the amount of weapons it currently has, and like you said, the mon cal ships are focusing more on durability and this ship is impressive, considering the other ships in the resistance fleet got destroyed in less than 5 shots ( due to kyber enhanced weapons) and due to having no shields, the raddus probably had shields stronger than a home one, and is close to the strength of a luckerhulk in my view, plus the ship was meant to be a mobile base for the resistance, and due to the amount of weapons it had pre refit, it may have been best to remove the weapons and have some for self defence.
Also the new republic would have had ships like the liberty and mc 80a fully armed and others like them, i.e. The starhawk and nebulon c and b, so they wouldn't have been afraid, just cautious when it came to ships as big as a star destroyer.
Yes but in the new canon lore they went through a period of demilitarization (Which isn't a very smart move on the New Republic's part.) So the Raddus by NR law could not have many arms. Also they obtained the ship as it was going to be decommissioned further limiting weapon capabilities from the normal military grade ships.
mill 27 in the real world, something demilitarised like say an army, would have less soldiers, a navy, would have less ships, and an airforce would have less fighters, from what I understand, the new republic wanted to limit the size of its navy and army, didn't mean it had to lose all the guns, plus the resistance, had so few men to crew such a big warship, plus the ship was a proper battleship before the demilitarisation act, which saw its decommissioning, but the ship had been refitted by the resistance only after its acquisition. Also the ship had 6 heavy concussion missile launchers, and the ships weapons as standard where of the heavy specifications. So it could take on a standard star destroyer but anything else after the refit it couldn't directly damage but would take amounts of fire that most navies only dream of.
Personally I wanted to see how many fighters it could carry fully equipped, what do you think?
Another problem that the Raddus had is that it was acquired by the Resistance not the New Republic meaning that whatever nerfs the Raddus had in the NR it would be worse because the Resistance fleet is in no way better than the NR which was largly destroyed by the Starkiller base attack.
mill 27 still, the resistance didn't plan on having a full on war with the first order, and they didn't want the NR on their backs for having a fully armed battleship on their side with a few bunker busters and nebulon c cruisers, that would pose a threat to the NR and the worlds under its flag, after all the new republic " tolerated" the resistance, plus if the republic saw them as a threat, than they would mobilise hundreds of ships and thousands of star fighters. so they had to pretty much disarm the raddus to prevent such a possibility from coming true.

The infinity was a poor choice as it is so powerful in weapons,shields,secondary ships,etc....that it is definitely more akin to a super star destroyer.
One of the battle ship or dreadnaught classes would have been better.

VF-1S Valkyrie variable fighter from SDF Macross (not Robotech) vs the Union Overflag from Gundam 00.
Why VF-1? It's least powerful VF variant there is (which makes sense, it was the first)
Lahis as with the flag units they're the first units of their types and as shown the Gundams in 00 need 30 flags to equal a Gundam exia.
I think a fairer battle would be a valkyrie vs A Zeta Type Transformable Gundam.
Jean-Luc Martel tried that and people pulled the Gundam wins hands down so I chose a grunt unit and the flag was the best as it has defined limits like the VF-1S.
Well that depends alot on Who the pilot is in the machine in question. Eg PLOT ARMOUR. The missiles alone could take out 5 Flags with the opening volley. In Gundam Missiles are almost always used as for distraction.

Master chief (post halo 4) easily. The forerunner weapons burn and eventually atomise whatever they kill in the game and in the lore they are even more powerful, so just put a few shots into the terminator with the literal handgun (the bolt shot) and it’s gone forever

Only a handful of Covenant ships are used to glass all of Africa in halo 3.
It, even in legends, would take around a thousand star destroyers to orbitally bombard a planet and boil away its oceans to make it uninhabitable. The covenant regularly turn the planets into glass. Like, that’s their thing.
I love the Galactica the most probably out of familiarity and sentimentality. The reasoning of your video is excellent. I think the Pegasus would be a great ship to compare, however it is not invincible as the Halo capital ship appears to be.

I don't think it matters the CAS assault carriers main weapon can cut clean through a ships at a hundred thousand kilometers bisecting it from stem to stern in one shot. Assault carriers possess multiple energy projectors on its ventral and dorsal surfaces . In addition it has multiple pulse laser turrets, which are used for intercepting enemy missiles and fighters, and plasma torpedoes for engaging in ship-to-ship combat and assaulting planetary defenses. Basically its going to one shot each of the Star destroyers regardless form well beyond their weapons range.
CAS wins in minutes. Like a single volley from the energy projectors would destroy all three ships. The plasma based weaponry would just tear through the Star destroyers, not to mention the CAS could micro jump behind them or literally just jump directly beside them and open the slipspace portal a bit larger and tear the Star destroyers in half

I never get tired of seeing the Infinity just plow through that Covenant cruiser with no effort whatsoever. Same energy as the CSO supercarrier destroying the frigate after Tip of the Spear in Reach, and if you ask me, seems to be a satisfying piece of unintentional payback.

The infinity is more of a dreadnaught / super carrier not a mass produced ship of the line its better compared to the supremecy as its in a Different league above capital ships like the star destroyer and Mon cal cruiser also the pegasus might have been a better choice of battle star

The Infinity was supposed to be mass produced post war but they lost to many shipyards and outposts and planets to mass produce so instead they were making another but used it's parts to upgrade the Infinity.
Yeah, as of now they only have the UNSC Infinity as a fully functional ship, and it's sister ship the UNSC Eternity which is only partially functional. It is planned to be a superior to the CSO Supercarrier in every way.
Clearly you don’t realize what a Capital ship is. It’s the strongest ship in the fleet and is normally where the Admiral or fleet commander gives his orders from. In most cases it is not a massively produced ship. See the IJN Yamato during WW2, the KGM Bismarck and it’s sister ship the KGM Tirpitz, HMS Hood. The only capital ship that was mass produced even remotely was the Iowa class with 4 and 2 more in production. My point is, capital ships are only ever 1 or 2 vessels of that type.
They are still building its sister the UNSC Eternity . Its just going to take more time. Because they used those modules to upgrade and repair the Infinity rather than having two super carriers down one of which being the Flag ship of the UNSC Navy. So yeah they redirected parts to keep the Infinity operational. And ordered more parts be built .

In addition the the main MAC guns on the Infinity it also has a network of Onager type MAC guns (Basically light MAC guns)
the super battleship carrier ark infinity is #1 compared... I like the Galactica Universe and especially the new game. However the Pegasus has 4 carrier decks and a Viper production line. Sacrificing the Pegasus for the Galactica was trading potential power worth of a 3 or 4 level when sacrificed for the big G... the G should of had a few civ ship in it's Museum bay for crew ftl escape like the raptors did in the last black hole colony battle and the Peg then ftl away before in suicide space. So vote for G but for the more powerful Peg. and if the Colonies had wanted they could probably have built a SUPER ARK ship for emergency with optional no linked computers that hook in and off just in case of a Cylon super bug weapon. And the new starwars movies are just ridiculous.. out of a BILLION planets there is Only ONE Resistance Battleship in the whole galaxy with a handful of other junk ships.. The Galaxy would have hundreds of mothballed ISD and Calamari ships for a unforeseen emergency... Like the VONG.... And the ability for one fighter to totally destroy ur only fighter deck was such a joke. they would of had like 4 massive armored doors like in the last matrix movie to protect their "ONE" fighter deck lol.
