    Serving on the Executor makes your chances of running into Mr. Choky-Choky Vader DANGEROUSLY HIGH. I don't care how much guns we have, I AM NOT GETTING NEAR THAT GUY.

      Given the size of the Executor class, unless you're duty station is on the bridge, you probably would have little chance of ever running into Vader. Chances are that he doesn't spend much time wandering the expanses of the ship and sticks mainly to his quarters and the bridge. If you're assigned to the bowels of the ship like in engineering or the enlisted mess deck(s) you should be pretty safe from ever seeing Vader. Of course, the problem with serving on Vader's flagship as even the lowliest enlisted man is that your officers are probably going to almost all be overachievers and will ride you much harder than an officer on nearly any other ship in the fleet all in the hopes of catching Vader's eye and getting promoted quicker.

      Something Brakkk There were actually several Super Star Destroyers besides Vader's personal Pimpmobile. Some models, like the Eclipse Class, even came equipped with a slightly underpowered Death Star Beam, That could make a planet unlivable but not bust it. Serving on one of those might be better.

    One of my favorites is the Carrack-class light cruiser. Heavily armed for its size, while also fast and maneuverable. It also had reinforced bulkheads and compartmentalization which made survivability very likely in the case of the ship's destruction, which in turn, made it very popular with its crew.

    • @griever3679
      @griever3679 2 роки тому +5

      I could see that. Personally I would want to serve on the Carracks bigger brother, the Dreadnought Class Heavy cruiser. Slower and a bit more outdated, but it's got more armor and firepower, able to slug it out with bigger capital ships, but also has decent anti starfighter abilities. If it was say, a 12 Dreadnought wolfpack going against a pair or 3 ISD 2s, I'd put my money on the Dreadnoughts.😁 Especially since the dreadnoughts are well known for they're ion cannon capabilities.

    01:30 Interestingly enough, this WAS the reason why Excecutor never had shortages of volunteers to serve on it. Or rather, they believed that if it would happen, it would happen to someone else and they could get promoted to their place, or they could otherwise distinguish themselves there and climb ranks in days or weeks instead of years.

    • @speed150mph
      @speed150mph 5 років тому +24

      Rembanspellsong Thrawn however was not like Vader, or many other commanders in the empire. Thrawn did not punish for mistakes. He believed that as long as someone under him were trying their best, and were actively trying to learn from their mistakes, that that was good enough for service.
      Look at how he nurtured Eli Vanto’s tactical abilities (which, with him being a supply officer at the time, was nonexistent). Or look back at how he treated his crew on the Chimera when Vader was aboard making comments about how different they were.
      And because of that Thrawn brought out the best in those he served with

      @@speed150mphnot disputing that fact. just that to be 'competent' in his eyes, you had to do more then just the basics of your job. you had to excel. did you make a mistake and blame it on someone else? you are a failure to him. did you find a problem and do nothing? you need more training. did you find a problem and just report it like most imperial officers seem to do? good for you, you are doing the bare minimum. did you find a problem and try to fix it? excellent, you get promoted. he drove his officers to excel, and if you were not able to excel you were not 'competent'. you were merely adequate.

      Wasn't that because the Raddus' shields were all focused on the back, where the Supremacy's cannons were hitting?
      That's kinda why 3 Ties managed to destroy the bridge and a hangar in one or two runs. I'm sure if shields were distributed evenly, it wouldn't be as able to shrug off fire.

    I have a question for anybody that wants to answer how would you refit the CIS Providence class to be an effective ship for the resistance and or rebellion. I would move the bridge from the front of the ship more to the hulls center mass and not on the outside of the hull and used multiple different sensor systems to be able to see and fight in combat, I would change and upgrade the shield system with mon-cala style shields like the kind on there cruisers, upgraded its main armament with new turbo lasers in turrets and more of then all over the hull and not mostly focused in fixed forward firing positions also I would add plethora of point defense weapons and anti fighter missile launchers, and the last 3 things I would do is make most systems automated the same way the some of the New Republics new capital ships are add multiple separate fire control systems half for the point defense weapons and the other for the main weapons lastly I would get rid of the observation deck and the fin it is attached to. I would however keep the hanger and store both the newest version of A-wings and the newest version of X-wings and if possible also have a few Y-Wings the A-wings would help defend the ship the X-wings and Y-wings would help attack the enemy's fleet. I'm not a Star Wars fanatic but I do like the Star Wars franchise most likely because I am a World War 2 fanatic. After seeing the video on how to upgrade a Super Star-destroyer my mind went on how would I do that on the CIS Providence class for a few reasons 1 I like the ships design 2 I see a design that if some of its major flaws are fixed it could become a very potent ship in combat. After all these upgrades and changes I feel that a Providence class could fight one on one against a First Order SD. So what are yours And do you think my upgraded Providence class could win? And how would you upgrade it? #ASKECK

    I disagree with putting the Quasar Fire on this list. It canonically had structural weaknesses, which would make it less survivable and more maintenance-intensive. It's also a high-value target, as it offers a protection and refueling for starfighters and military force projection in general over a wide area, especially for the Empire and other factions whose strike craft tend to lack FTL travel. Dedicated carriers also tend to be less well armed than other ship types, so if they wind up in the thick of battle with no way to get out of dodge, they're toast.

  • @casbot71

    Unless the Quasar has a external indicator marking _full/empty_ (like a red or green signal flag?) it's still going to be a target cause it's a _cheap kill_ and inconveniences the enemy as now their non hyperspace fighters are now stuck, fighters can't dock for resupply and quick repair mid battle, and it can't do command and control for its fighters that are launched.
    And without the _we're empty_ running lights or flag, the enemy may hope to get a few fighters waiting to launch, the reserve. Are they supposed to enquire beforehand as to its current inventory?
    And in the opening stages of a battle, especially a ambush, it is *target #1,* before it has launched its compliment.
    Rebels jump out of hyperspace without warning and a whole bunch of proton torpedoes are going into your launch bay before the pilots have scrambled.
    It's the smartest Rebel tactic, one Thrawn himself would use if the situations were reversed.

    • @Warsie
      @Warsie 2 роки тому

Like can destroy an entire fleet but gets taken down by one suicide A-Wing once shields were down lol. I also woudn't want to be a tie fighter pilot at least of the empire I mean anything can kill you or disable you like even the smallest of space rocks could damage your wing enough to be stock out in space and would suck when your alone trying send out distress signal for ship to come get you lol. And If you hit an Asteroid your going to explode on impact or bounce around like ping pong ball against several before you do explode. However I think would like Gazanti cruiser or freighter class I know its slow and vulnerable but I just love the ability to deploy 2 to 3 AT-AT walkers just outside the enemies doorstep planet side lol.

    One of the best in my opinion is the Providence class destroyer (like the Invisible Hand).
    Because of it's great fire power, it's not-over-the-top-and-easily-targetable bridge, and because it's a well balanced mix between a carrier and a battle cruiser. Armed to the teeth with a ton of Vulture droids to assert air superiority.
    Also, the fact that these ships could carry tons of droids and material, making them almost able to conquer a planet on their own.
