This was a grueling job, but if you're watching this video with plans to swap springs I hope you learn something. In the next video I will review all aspects of the cams, so make sure to subscribe and hit notify!

That sounds amazing bro 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Larger Camshaft Lobes, lol. Good job!
Been following your build from the beginning. I own #0890. Curious how things are going and if you've been continuing the build on the car? My car has some mods as well, but retains an overall factory vibe. Installed the Ford Performance Adjustable Handling Pack shortly after I bought it. It sits about an inch and a half lower and corners on rails. I also did the FR500 axle back mufflers, MGW short shifter, aluminum driveshaft, Boss Tubular rear trailing arms with relocation brackets and an adjustable upper control arm to reset the pinion angle. Front end also has adjustable links to help with front end sway bar geometry. I also have a set of blackheart shorty headers and the FRP Hotrod cams that are waiting in the wings for me to finally take the plunge and install. I've been sitting on the cams because I haven't really heard a lot of first hand opinions on how and if they affect reliability of the engine. My car has around 90k miles on it so curious if I should do timing chains, guides, tensioners or any other preventative things to the top end when installing the cams. I'm honestly wanting to do it for the sound and driving experience, however I guess my worry is I also enjoy it as it is and fear if messing with my cars heart could backfire. I've always enjoyed bolt on mods, suspension and stuff like that so a little leery I guess of tearing into the engine not knowing exactly what to expect. If you have any recommendations based on your experience with doing this mod I would greatly enjoy your feedback. Thanks again for the awesome Bullitt content. Hope there will be more to come. My best from Wisconsin!
I always recommend a timing job when doing cams on these cars, and I also did roller followers/ lash adjusters (a must), oil pump, water pump, and valve spring seals (was changing the springs anyway). I have not had any problems is 2.5 years and I haven’t heard anything negative about reliability. Thanks for the feedback!
@@ProjectBullitt Can't thank you enough for the feedback! When I get around to doing the install, I will definitely be using your tutorial as a guide.
Hi great video well explain keep up the good work I wish you were my neighbor so you can help me out with mine
Yeah I learned a lot from the Speed Academy YT channel “mullet mustang” and @FordTechMakuloco. The ford guy suggests a way better valve spring tool than what I used
Thanks for the video. You lost me at the use of the rope though. How is that preventing the valves from falling into the cylinder head?
Well the rope fills up the cylinder to the point where the valves can’t fall past their seat. They simply rest on the rope.
@@ProjectBullitt So removing the rollers would cause the valves to fall into the cylinder somehow? Sorry to insist but that sounds odd cause I have watched a few tutorials and nobody mentions this. I wanna make sure I'm not gonna cause a mess. Thanks again for your input.
No, I swapped the springs. The springs/keepers keep the valves from falling, the rollers do not affect that.
@@ProjectBullitt Thank you for clarifying. Much appreciated!
How many miles do you have? I have a 2009 bullitt mustang. Love the videos.
It’s at 126k!
Is there a reason why you are not removing the camshaft before swapping the springs? It looks to me that it would give you more space to work.
The camshaft provides leverage for the spring compressor tool that I was using.
@@ProjectBullitt Got it. Thank you.
Keep seeing a 3.90 gear recommended, how are the 3.73s doing in terms of bottom end and getting off in 1st gear under light load and normal driving?
Great question. Some of it may be because of the tune, but it doesn’t seem like I lost much bottom end at all, in fact the car feels faster everywhere. Drivability is excellent, hardly any change at all with the 3.73’s. My wife even said it was easier to drive (she learned on my car and it’s the only standard shift car she’s ever driven). Keep in mind I limited the phaser’s, I didn’t lock them out.
@@ProjectBullitt Which spring did you go with?
Comp cam’s beehive “high lift”. Part # 26125-24
The factory keepers worked with the new retainers?
Yes sir!
Thanks you.
Sounds good.. I got an 08 bullet and want to the same as you did. What number is your car?
Thanks! I have # 0868
Nice..mine is 5156. After you put the comp cams in your car did you put in a tune?
Definitely. I limited the phasers and swapped the springs, so all that requires a tune. Not all cams require a new tune, but you should definitely get one regardless.
Where did you purchase the spring compressor tool?
LMR.com but it is not a great tool, I would look for a different design.
Thanks. Great job on the cam swap!
Are you gonna go on the dyno again?
I’ve actually got two more sessions lined up. Good stuff coming in the next couple of months.
How are you tuning?
With a hand-held device and an email tune from Brenspeed.
@@ProjectBullitt Cool and how did that work out ?
Brenspeed did an excellent job, I’m very pleased.
@@ProjectBullitt Thanks , Mike
What cams did you use?
Comp Cams XFI SPR stage 2 127500’s. I love them
@@ProjectBullitt I'm looking at detroit rockers. What made you decide on the stage 2 's ?
Those are a good choice. I wanted to change the valve seals and springs for maintenance, so I figured I’d go with a big cam.
Sounds awesome man 🤙🏻
I appreciate it!
