Making my first hammerdin currently after watching your paladin build guide. Played back in the day for a while but only ever did zon, sin, and ass. So far I'm enjoying it!
Maxing out Blessed hammer asap seems like a bit of a trap as it makes it expensive to cast. Putting more points into the synergies earlier will increase the blessed hammer damage without increasing its mana cost. Currently at 25 on my hammerdin and it feels like im playing a potion chugging simulator.
Spirit sword gives +80 mana. So does Spirit Shield. You should be able to manage both together by nightmare countess, and the combined total will give +4 skills, +60% FCR, and +160 mana.
Diablo 2 is such a great game. I got the pre order for resurrected. I am so glad that they have kept the hammerdin and not nerfed it. I played this game as a kid and I wasn't very good at it. This is going to be a great build for me cause I am very knew when it comes to d2 strats. This build gives noob players like me a chance to not know what I'm doing while allowing me to have a strong enough character to use while I figure out how to play this game.
Given the author uses so many things which we, noobs, will never have (Enigmas, SoJs, CTAs and what not), I do not understand how to use this guide. To say nothing that he speaks so fast and rotates his thingies at such a speed, that I literally become dizzy. He has nice guides but this one is definitely not one of them. 🤷🏻♂️
for maggot lair, shop a teleport charge staff from drognan in act 2, tele past the mobs into a bigger chamber and kill there or just tele through the whole lair and tp back to town to recharge the staff when needed
I ended up finding an insanely good templars coat that gives +1 to all Paladin skills and a shield that does the same while going through Nightmare with my Wind Druid, I'm keeping it in my stash so I can give it to my Paladin later, lol.
A lot of people do paladins wrong for a few reasons: 1. Do not use Trang-Oul's claws unless you have to, always use magefist gloves because of the regenerate mana 25%. The rest you get into cold resists with trang-oul's is not needed. 2. If you are running magefists and an insight then you do NOT need SOJ's, the extra mana is not needed. Get rid of the SOJ's and switch to 2x Bul-Kathos Wedding Bands for the extra life you get. 3. If you have Engima then your paladin is going to be stronger if you upgrade the Hearld of Zakarum from a Gilded Shield to a Zakarum Shield. Bare in mind you don't need as much dex if you are doing this because the Zakarum has a higher base block chance than a Gilded. 4. If you're running Baal / Andarial then I would recommend using Sandstorm Treks, however if you're doing other bosses/magic find swap them out for War Travelers with decent magic find, the extra 5 vitality isn't worth more than up to 50% magic find. 5. A lot of paladins try and magic find by swapping out their belt for goldwrap, their gloves for chance guards and it isn't worth it because of the drop in FCR. The only changes that are worth it for magic find is boots (War Travelers), rings (Nagelrings) and potentially the amulet but I would only swap the amulet if you find a rare / crafted one with really good stats. At the very most once you are wealthy enough you can swap the Shako & HoZ for one with Ist runes in them, I personally always run both with Ber runes in up until I can get myself a 195%+ ED, Ethereal Upped HoZ with a Zod Rune in it
I'm on my first playthrough (D2R) so I don't have all this sick gear premade to help level a hammerdin. I have bad mana problems but even then I can still see how powerful this build is
Holy Freeze merc is also good offensively for Hammerdins. Fast mobs acting sporadically can be more difficult to kill as a Hammerdin as your attacks are so indirect and tele-stomping Fast elite mobs doesn't work well all the time. But with the Holy Freeze aura it works pretty much all the time.
This. 100% Ice and Treachery in an Act 1 merc is the real style play. She doesn't get up in the mix as much and lasts much longer. 1 point in redemption makes insight obsolete.
don't respec out of holy fire till you've finished act 2 normal. . teleport staves aren't till 24, and maggot lair with hammers will kill your experience with the build 10000%. . esp if you're solo . if you're in a group, it wont matter so much. . . . and for the love of god, get a point into redemption the MOMENT you can. . . vigor + redemption will save your soul. . insight merc's have a tendency to die in sh*tty gear. and redemption + dual spirits will let you farm quite easily without being reliant on the merc's insight. or pot chugging. (one pack can easily fill up your mana bar). . and before enigma. vigor paired with a stealth chest will give you so much movespeed you can walk through literally everything. I tend to just get holy fire going for a little bit. and then swap over to shock and play tesladin for the remainder of normal. early nightmare really easy to get a lifesteal/mana steal runeword or weapon and just spam clear nm countess with vigor/zeal to build the first 2 spirits. and then go hammers. . using teleport staff to deal with maggot lair in a2. also a bit easier to kill some of the act bosses with holy fire/lightening early on. knowing llama he'll be speed running, and would probably finish maggot lair before he's even high enough to respec hammers (though in all likelihood he'll be the telesorc of the group). . but for us plebs, stick to fire for most if not all of normal. . act 4 is the earliest i'd swap over, if inexperienced with how hammers work.
One thing this build is missing is how to deal with the Magic Immunes in Baal wave 2. I know llama did a playthrough, but it would be super useful to see how to manage that, since that is the very rare instance where a Hammerdin can get hard countered.
Hey man, u should do like build chars, but budget ones, i always see everyone doing like very endgame gear builds, but no one ever does like lvl 80 budget builds when i still farming
My first build will probably be a frozen orb/fireball Sorc. Hammerdin was a really close second, but you just cant beat teleport imo. Once Enigma becomes more common then Hammerdin all the way.
I play at Hardcore bnet. Using items : GA + Stormshield + Mara + Hoto + Shako. 90% all res + 45 DR gives good chances to survive even if disconnect near mobs. I dont need skills at fanaticism, or resistances or redemption. I put all last skills after main build to holybolt for killing 2 vave magic immune Baal minions.
I remember once i leveled Paladin, and as you I thought any Insight is better than no insight, I can always upgrade later. Then I took a weaker base and of course I rolled a perfect 17/260/250...Never since have I been able to get this perfect roll and I feel like I have wasted my only chance to ever roll a perfect insight on that faithful night...
Honestly, now that D2:R on PC has quick hotkeys...I can see this build getting stronger simply because you wont have to swap between teleport and aura manually....just tap teleport and itll automatically go back to your aura after the cast so your fingers wont get quite as tired from having to swap between Tele/Conc Aura/Holy Shield. I know a lotta purists probably don't like this change but....having grown up on D2 (I literally beta tested the original version hard to get more old school D2 player than that) adding a kinda mock "modern" action bar made the game so much better than it already was, and made this build SO much more fun, the Auras almost feel like a constant passive now.
Respecing at lvl19 seems to be a mistake on my part, my hammer is at lvl2 (lvl3 is at lvl20) and i feel useless im just autoattacking stuff to get some dmg through...
Yeah doing a respec that soon is not a good move, I would suggest doing zeal and holy fire until about level 26 or a little bit later if you can squeeze out those levels. Also, do a dual spirit. Those two points each help greatly. Lore would also be a good idea.
Complete the maggot lair with Holy fire, after that then respect into Hammerdin. Reason is I had issues using Blessed hammers in the small Colon tubes during the Horadric Quest to get the Bring lots of potions
Yeah the reason for that is the hammers will hit the wall and completely disappear. And miss their target by a mile so it's better to use holy fire inside of closed spaces.
Don’t sleep on an Upped & Socketed Viper Magi until you can make an Enigma. Socket with an Um rune you can get up to 50 AR. Or you can put a P Topaz for some magic find. Either way that 30 FCR is invaluable from the armor slot. Oh and for a belt you can craft a caster belt with up to 10 FCR…only way to get FCR from the belt slot until you can find an Arachnid Mesh. Plus you can roll up to 24 FHR on the caster belt as well making it a super good option.
@thickock45 All Resist. It also stands for Attack Rating …I should have abbreviated AllRes looking back at my post it’s not clear. The resists number vary from 20-35 on magi so getting a perfect all res roll and socketing with an Um rune is super good. I run that on many caster characters if I can’t make enigma.
Was a great video to start explaining things for new players until you got to the gear and just assumed everyone had super Uber gear laying around and how to get it lol! Have any videos explaining leveling process and what players should start looking for around normal, through the end?
I had a question. Could you make a guide on how to properly control builds like the Hammerdin? I have no clue how to do it but i see ppl run them like Bots but they are in control.
If you're a Tele boss hunter, cold sorc for moat tricking meph. if you're a walker I'd agree with Vlam and add an option of Skele Summoner with Amp and Corpse explosion combo for mobs, and decrepify and clay golem for bosses (slow target merc weapon as well) bosses will barely attack and keep your Skeles alive.
blizz sorc is astronomically better than any other starter build. you can literally farm hell mephisto naked and find 90% of the A-tier uniques that exist. You don't have to play blizz, but if you want the best that's what you're after.
@@zanido9073 i just like to go off the ''meta'' with builds for every day use, probably because i've played sorc builds to dead in the past, there's plenty of good viable builds for early mf'ing, that are not sorc or hammerdin :)
I feel like Insight on the merc is not at all necessary when you're geared. You also don't need a defensive merc at all, especially when you're running Reaper's Toll. Then you can run a Might merc with Reaper's Toll and he will just PUMP those magic immunes. And he will slow stuff w/ Decrepify to make up for the lack of Holy Freeze. It's just a no-brainer better setup IMO.
Hi. I followed this build and have pretty decent gear at level 87 (no enigma just viper though). Maxed res etc. Pindle still 1shots me every time (before I can even cast a hammer). Feel like I’m doing something wrong but can’t work out what. Chaos is simple for me alone in like a 4 player game but pindle just one shots
Great guide. But if you're a beginner player without all the cool gear I would respec after normal diffuculty (around lvl 40) Hammerdin is a great endgame build but can be a pain in the arse at lower lvls.
I hope they do some change3d to the console version (not sure if it's the same for PC) being you can't create games with names like you used to = (. Unless I'm missing something.
U can say everything you want but hammerdin is best spec anyway. I played every class (maybe except dru) and hammerdin for me is most fun build. Loves him❤
I'm going to try a hammerdin. I've never played one, because it was too popular. I always looked for the builds that people weren't playing. I have strange ideas about what makes a build 'fun'. But I'm going to be more open this time.
It is novel doing buckets of damage for almost no effort but I'm with you. Meta doesn't mean fun for sure. I will be starting with a windy druid. Still very meta but I like him and I've never done the fire druid start so that'll be new. We didn't have respecs back in my day XD
@thickock45 meta is actually an acronym for "most effective tactics available" in gaming. As opposed to meta in things like table top RPGs meaning "outside the game world."
I'm curious to see more about what you would say BIS for every spot is. Like HOTO is standard because it's cheap but not BIS since that's going to be a scepter with perf mods
isnt that true that the blessed hammer synergies are only active when the particular Aura is active ? so if one uses only one aura lets say blessed aim.. one dont have to max out the other auras 🤔
I'm having huge problems with this build. The hammers are just disappeared when hitting the walls in tight corridors. I will have to position myself very close to the enemies to hit them, but the health is gone and healing potions are gone in 30 seconds. The mana potions are gone in 30 seconds as well due to low mana pool. So, I'm basically portaling back to town buying potions then going back every 3 minutes. Not fun at all. Any suggestions?
In tight spaces positioning is key. The hammers orbit around you in a set pattern. So best position is to have the enemy at around your 11, 12 and 1oclock position right in front of you. Your 7 and 8 area behind you will completely miss any enemies there. But of course, Maggot Lair is the true bane of Hammerdins. People will suggest using teleport staffs but I've gotten away with using strangling gas potions in normal and nightmare difficulty to clear the corridors.
you will need to try and plan your attacks, there are some narrow area's that you should try to not fight in. In chaos sanctuary there are a few halls for example, you'd want to take the hall with less baddies, and or pull them to an open area. this is one of the weakness of this build, and it can suck. Fortunately at max level you won't be running to many area's that are confined, and eventually with Enigma you'll just teleport around trouble spots
Would Rhyme be something to go for before Enigma? I can't deal with being fozen most of the times. Seeing as you can put it in a pally shield and you focus on resists on other gear.
I mean... Rhyme requires Shael Eth and Enigma requires Jah Ith Ber. Not only are they not in the same league... they're not even playing the same game. One is an armor and the other is a shield. Just throw Rhyme in a high all res two socket pally shield if you can't find a three socket for Ancients Pledge. Or better yet, a four socket for Spirit. All three are easily obtained rune-wise in Nightmare Countess runs.
I have played D2 since the day it released, a few times years in a row non-stop, and I have never played a hammerdin, didn't like them, But I'm giving it a shot now hah
Hello Mr Llama! I loved this guide, and I've been loving your content for a long time, thanks so much for breathing new life into an old favorite of mine! You're the reason I still play! One nice-to-have on these guides . . . You could do a section at the end where you got to some of the trouble spots and favorite farming spots for the character. Farming is probably a video all on it's own, but a great example is this Hammerdin who has teleporr, but probably not as fast as a sorceress. So, is this build fast enough to hit some of the prime chests in Hell? Or, does the odd hammer angles make certain rooms especially good or bad to clear? A little explanation on this would be awesome! Especially as the blog posts from the past have dissapeared over the years.
I just respeced to go into hammers and shift clicked strength, thinking it'd increase by 10, and spent all 120 points into strength. My characater is now useless, is there any way to reverse this shit?
Regarding Dex..currently I'm at 54, no points in Holy Shield yet. I'm thinking of respec #2 soon. So..i how should I do this? Put one in HS first, then add gear for current plus to skills and just keep upping dex until its good? BTW..anyone know how to see block % on X1? Its not under the advanced tab that i can see.
With the shield, I have a Sacred Rondache shield with the Spirit runeword. I assume why the Monarch shield with Spirit is preferred for Paladins (in lieu of Herold of Zakarum) is for the higher block chance, right? Mine has 58% but the Monarch in the video has 75%. The other stats seems roughly the same.
Is it possible to get somthing going besides infinity that would alow me to get past the second wave in the throne of destruction? I like to run solo but can't even do baal because the magic resist on wave 2
they have utility, especially if you put them on a hotkey and cycle them as needed. I keep Redemption + Vigor + COncentrate on a quick key i can cycle though. Usually use concentrate to clear out a screen full of baddies and swap to redemption real quick for a free max life/mana fill up before moving on to the next pack, and of course vigor is great for move speed. Salvation can be good for corpse run
I really enjoy this videos but I have a question if anyone can answer, How many times you can redo or change abilities and attributes? I see that he can do it any time he wants, but thats because a mod isn't it? In the vanilla D2R you can do that?
Yes he is doing it with a single player mod. In the real game you only get 3 respecs from quests, and then you can farm special tokens to get additional respecs.
To add to what the other commenter said, you get one respec that you can cash in at akara as part of your reward for completing the game's first quest (The Den of Evil). So you get one per playthrough, for a total of three. Just adding this so nobody gets the impression that you get all three right off the bat.
Hey Mr Llama ty for this guide it was very helpful. Hammerdin was my favorite class in classic D2 but I thought you needed the gear and level to make one, didn't know you could go after hammerdin right out the gate, doing this instead of making a zealdin and then changing him over.
That depends on what you are asking You can be under the effects of multiple auras, but you can only have one aura active by virtue of being the skill currently on your right-click. Some items allow you to emanate additional auras, and you can be under the effects of multiple auras if, say, you hire an Act 2 mercenary while playing a paladin So I think the answer to your question is "yes"
I actually waited until level 29 to do the respec. At least at that point when I went to put points into hammers I had quite a few. Btw, for low level characters, dual spirit is a life saver. I have been blasting through the acts with ease, although it is a little harder in nightmare.
Dude, seriously you make pretty good guides, just stop moving that fast your mouse over the items you are wearing. Give it 2 seconds to read at least the name of the rune words...
The hybrid Hammerdin/Smiter thing is new to me. Are you telling me with the proper gear all I need is one point into fanaticism and I can run ubers as well? Thats pretty awesome. Also Hi Mama Llama!!!!! @5:17
He said that bc usually you will also have plus skill soft points in those areas to boost the overall skill level of smite and fanaticism. I have a hammerdin that’s lvl 94 on my PlugY account that has 1 hard point invested in Smite and Fanaticism just for Ubers. Works great just swap gear set up to suite a smiter build.
I am confused... In the final skills section you show all the skills highlighted in orange and which ones to max out. Then in the leveling skills section you are picking skills that are not even in the final skills section? I don't see holy fire selected in the FINAL section but your are loading it up with points in the leveling skills? So do I go by the FINAL build section or the leveling skills section?

Making my first hammerdin currently after watching your paladin build guide. Played back in the day for a while but only ever did zon, sin, and ass. So far I'm enjoying it!
You should do a how to rush and how to get rushed guide. The etiquette and ins-and-outs would be good for posterity.
Low-key fantastic idea
They'll fig it out!
Maxing out Blessed hammer asap seems like a bit of a trap as it makes it expensive to cast. Putting more points into the synergies earlier will increase the blessed hammer damage without increasing its mana cost. Currently at 25 on my hammerdin and it feels like im playing a potion chugging simulator.
basically all I can say other then get insight for your merc is fill up as much inventory space as you can with potions, mostly mana potions :P
1 point into redemption will stop all that at lvl 30
Spirit sword gives +80 mana. So does Spirit Shield.
You should be able to manage both together by nightmare countess, and the combined total will give +4 skills, +60% FCR, and +160 mana.
A good point. Plus, the auras are mana neutral (Except prayer, but Cleansing gets Prayer for no mana)
Place 2 tir runes in a helm (4 to mana per kill) and you'll be good to go
4:30 "once you get 12 points in your synergies then you want to go 1 point here 1 point here" MAN Mr. Llama this is why you are the best.
Edit: cause it's so easy to mess up your build and render it useless.
for maggot lair, shop a teleport charge staff from drognan in act 2, tele past the mobs into a bigger chamber and kill there or just tele through the whole lair and tp back to town to recharge the staff when needed
cause re-charging it is so cheap
I ended up finding an insanely good templars coat that gives +1 to all Paladin skills and a shield that does the same while going through Nightmare with my Wind Druid, I'm keeping it in my stash so I can give it to my Paladin later, lol.
Thanks for all these guides man! super helpful.
A lot of people do paladins wrong for a few reasons:
I have bad mana problems but even then I can still see how powerful this build is
Was torn between summon necro and hammerdin. Haven't played pally for few ladders now so going with some hammers this time 🔨🔨🔨
Holy Freeze merc is also good offensively for Hammerdins.
You need dmg from merc on throne wave 2, act 1 is dogshit
@@DannyDL1ght holy bolt works just fine. maybe the rest of your spec is dogshit.
Another quality and useful video. Gonna make myself one right now! Thanks dude!
don't respec out of holy fire till you've finished act 2 normal. . teleport staves aren't till 24, and maggot lair with hammers will kill your experience with the build 10000%. . esp if you're solo . if you're in a group, it wont matter so much. . . . and for the love of god, get a point into redemption the MOMENT you can. . . vigor + redemption will save your soul. . insight merc's have a tendency to die in sh*tty gear. and redemption + dual spirits will let you farm quite easily without being reliant on the merc's insight. or pot chugging.
Totally agree, jumping right at it around lvl 18 is unplayable.
One thing this build is missing is how to deal with the Magic Immunes in Baal wave 2. I know llama did a playthrough, but it would be super useful to see how to manage that, since that is the very rare instance where a Hammerdin can get hard countered.
Use HB on your merc to tank wave 2
He is fine with life leech from helm
umm... how do you skip putting points in the lower skills?? there is just 3 skills put in and then you move on but you cant??
YEAH BABY! Definitely going hammers first like everyone else. Excited to farm out some early runewords for the bois while they're at work.
Mr. Powers!
Exactly what I was looking for, big ups brotha
Hey man, u should do like build chars, but budget ones, i always see everyone doing like very endgame gear builds, but no one ever does like lvl 80 budget builds when i still farming
My first build will probably be a frozen orb/fireball Sorc. Hammerdin was a really close second, but you just cant beat teleport imo. Once Enigma becomes more common then Hammerdin all the way.
(puts on uber high level rune word items)...."and that's pretty much all you need to do"
Oh. Ok.
This gonna be my first build
Isn't it too expensive?
@@melkorq no, watch latest dbrunski video on it, with budget runewords it is still much viable
Meta is Blizz Sorc. Hammerdin without Enigma can't compete.
Then I took a weaker base and of course I rolled a perfect 17/260/250...Never since have I been able to get this perfect roll and I feel like I have wasted my only chance to ever roll a perfect insight on that faithful night...
the horror
@@diablorises agreed, I waited until 25 (when I could equip a spirit) to swap from HF/Zeal to Hdin, and that was a good spot.
Plus you can roll up to 24 FHR on the caster belt as well making it a super good option.
stealth is alot better for this build, and cheaper.
@@mikeweatherford5312 absolutely not. You can get 50 AR on magi and plus 1 to skills which helps hammers a lot.
He does a 4hr walktrhough from 2019 "Let's Play Diablo 2 - Paladin Normal Difficulty Guided Playthrough" not much has changed. Worth watching.
I had a question. Could you make a guide on how to properly control builds like the Hammerdin? I have no clue how to do it but i see ppl run them like Bots but they are in control.
Out of all your S-tier builds, which do you recommend to begin with as a single player assuming you have terrible item luck?
Trapsin or poisonmancer :)
@@zanido9073 how to deal with cold immunues as a starter?
How does his targe at 11:00 has 75% bloc rate?
great guide! Love your vids here on youtube. Im trying to catch you online one of these days xD
Yeah insight is a strange choice alongside Enigma tier gear. It's a great budget option but well behind all of the major damage runewords for utility.
Yeah, for min-max purpose it doesn't give much with good gear options. However it may be good for the occasional manaburn.
I think insights main use once you get gg is Uber leveling and early game Merc weps while you’re still tuning your gear
@@clebmedia ah yes, I understand what some of these words mean.
Too many mobs are burning mana, i think insight is kinda mamdatory for hammerdin
When you took that blue shield off your blessed hammer damage went from 11k-11k to 2k-2k
I wasnt aware that +2 points on a res skill gives +1 max res.
This info is super helpful. Why the heck doesnt the skill text tell so?
Great guide. But if you're a beginner player without all the cool gear I would respec after normal diffuculty (around lvl 40) Hammerdin is a great endgame build but can be a pain in the arse at lower lvls.
Make sure you name your first D2 Ressurected game "Rush 4 Forge" haha
And then the guy leaves u hanging after the forge lol
I hope they do some change3d to the console version (not sure if it's the same for PC) being you can't create games with names like you used to = (. Unless I'm missing something.

So this is how you want to respec. One point in sacrifice then (FAST FORWARD) 1 here, 1 here, 1 here ,1 here (super speed so fast it's a blur! )
U can say everything you want but hammerdin is best spec anyway. I played every class (maybe except dru) and hammerdin for me is most fun build. Loves him❤
Is the principal runeword worth making? Any thoughts on using it for hammers or in general
Where is a good place to farm the targe shield with resistance’s.
I'm going to try a hammerdin. I've never played one, because it was too popular. I always looked for the builds that people weren't playing. I have strange ideas about what makes a build 'fun'. But I'm going to be more open this time.
for me its bonespear necro, still op but i will feel special
Not true.

Good hammers have to be worked around to be used. Ain’t. That nice. While I steam roll around one shots with my grief. Hahahahahha
Would Rhyme be something to go for before Enigma? I can't deal with being fozen most of the times. Seeing as you can put it in a pally shield and you focus on resists on other gear.
Caster dont use be Frozen
U use x2 spirit on paly u can wear smoke to get big res ez
Stealth is a great chest, cheap and easy. Double spirit would be ideal, or Spirit + Ancients Pledge, and eventually HOTO and Herald of Zakaroom
I needed this! Thank you, keep it up
I have a Herald shield but I got it early so my defense It's a lot lower is there any way to upgrade it when I get into hell difficulty
Hey, in act 2 nightmare i have only the option for holy freeze merc.. and not defense like you. what i am doing wrong?
nm mercs hace different auras than normal and hell. nm defensive merc has holy freeze
With a non bricked character farm out essences to respect it again. Sorry for your loss.
What did you shoo away? That was one of my favorite parts lol
can you filter items by server, like "US East" so you don't waste time lining up a trade when you are on US East and the item is on US West?
Thats not a thing in d2r, even if somebody is eu or Asia just change your region and join whoever
Thanks mate, nice guide!
What’s the ideal armor base for a mercs fortitude
With the shield, I have a Sacred Rondache shield with the Spirit runeword. I assume why the Monarch shield with Spirit is preferred for Paladins (in lieu of Herold of Zakarum) is for the higher block chance, right? Mine has 58% but the Monarch in the video has 75%. The other stats seems roughly the same.
i got resist lightning level 13, but the max lightning res still shows as 75% . is that normal?
why do you use concentration as main aura? only for the Merc?
Concentration buffs the f* out of hammers
Is it possible to get somthing going besides infinity that would alow me to get past the second wave in the throne of destruction? I like to run solo but can't even do baal because the magic resist on wave 2
Hi, please tell me which build i can use shield Dragonscale?
Those 1 point wonders are not passive skills right? So why would I waste on it when you can only have one aura active all the time?
they have utility, especially if you put them on a hotkey and cycle them as needed.
Thoughts on Hammerdin as character 1 for D2R?
I really enjoy this videos but I have a question if anyone can answer, How many times you can redo or change abilities and attributes? I see that he can do it any time he wants, but thats because a mod isn't it? In the vanilla D2R you can do that?
Yes he is doing it with a single player mod. In the real game you only get 3 respecs from quests, and then you can farm special tokens to get additional respecs.
To add to what the other commenter said, you get one respec that you can cash in at akara as part of your reward for completing the game's first quest (The Den of Evil). So you get one per playthrough, for a total of three. Just adding this so nobody gets the impression that you get all three right off the bat.
when you can, a blizz sorc please! all these are great!
It's coming, he's recorded tons of guides on his twitch, he seems to be uploading guides according to class so it could be the last guides to come
how do you use might and resist fire and still attack?
All this high level gear is basically only found in hell correct?
Hey Mr Llama ty for this guide it was very helpful. Hammerdin was my favorite class in classic D2 but I thought you needed the gear and level to make one, didn't know you could go after hammerdin right out the gate, doing this instead of making a zealdin and then changing him over.
Are you able to reset the skills/stats like that in online mode?
What’s your mapping button skills you use? Noob here
i wonder how you gonna play hammerdin without the enigma ?
Is act2 nm mercs the only ones used? like, is it the best option for all classes/ specs?
Almost always the answer is yes. This is primarily due to how strong auras are in D2.
Act 2 normal defensive for defiance, good for early game.
Act 2 nm defensive has freeze aura, good for late game.
Can you only have 1 passive aura activated at the same time?
That depends on what you are asking
You can be under the effects of multiple auras, but you can only have one aura active by virtue of being the skill currently on your right-click. Some items allow you to emanate additional auras, and you can be under the effects of multiple auras if, say, you hire an Act 2 mercenary while playing a paladin
So I think the answer to your question is "yes"
Love the video but the part when your mom walked in the chat was GOLD hahahaha
I actually waited until level 29 to do the respec. At least at that point when I went to put points into hammers I had quite a few.
Btw, for low level characters, dual spirit is a life saver. I have been blasting through the acts with ease, although it is a little harder in nightmare.
how do you have unlimited respecing
Instead of resist lightning and all those 1 points in auras you should put all those points in holy bolt so you can take down Baal waves easier
Dude, seriously you make pretty good guides, just stop moving that fast your mouse over the items you are wearing. Give it 2 seconds to read at least the name of the rune words...
This is a powerful build I made one but it is so boring to use. I feel like I don't need to use my sword at all
The hybrid Hammerdin/Smiter thing is new to me.
Always has been, just need the proper gear, also you can kill dclone as an hammerdin just farm full rejuvs and keep attacking him
How do you teleport? What's skill or item gives it?
Enigma has plus 1 to teleport don't matter if your a sorc or barb as long as you have that you can teleport
how do u show the item level on your items?
you have 30 skill points left what do you use it for ?
I am confused... In the final skills section you show all the skills highlighted in orange and which ones to max out. Then in the leveling skills section you are picking skills that are not even in the final skills section? I don't see holy fire selected in the FINAL section but your are loading it up with points in the leveling skills? So do I go by the FINAL build section or the leveling skills section?
Did you even watch the guide? He tells you he respecs.
