A piece of advice that would have been future-secure would have been: "Here's how to not lose gear due to roll backs if you're still in the game and the servers decide to take a shit"
If you wanna get rich, make a frozen orb sorc first, trade for tal rashas full set...farm hell mephisto forever and run baal runs until you can't stand it. You will have tons of valuable gear in a month of playing, you can get away with a lot on a Forb sorc without optimal gear, its powerful and agile and can kill things easily. Back in the day I always ended up with everything i wanted by the end by always doing this first, then using her to feed other classes I wanted to play. Nothing else is more efficient or as self reliant as playing a sorc first. Everything else is simply not as fast because it will require enigma which is a hard gear check for first toon and that also limits your speed for farming. in ladder or non ladder, the longer the game goes on for, more people get good gear including enigmas which brings down the price. if you can't get it in the beginning you probably can later a month or two into the game/season. never understimate what people will want vs what they will trade for. often times you can come out on top when 1 person only wants 1 thing and is willing to make a bad trade over it.
Mr Llama, glad to see those views stacked up on every recent video. You never stopped making vids on D2 and all the new people are flooding in. Congrats man.
I way I would like to see certain runes be more usable and have more crafting while changing up meta rune words is to create a craft recipe that includes said under used runes where it will add a specific modifier to any non rune word. Example a recipe with a Cham rune will craft x-xx fcr to an item and leave all the other stats in place. Once an item has been crafted it can't be crafted again.
i understand that you teleport around at the speed of light, but if you show items or use abbreviations, please show them a tad longer and say or display in the video (longer than 0,2sec) what those abbreviations mean. this is something that i see in all of the vids you make for new players or returning ones now. i am thankful you make them tho.
One of my favorite d2 memories from back in the day was finessing trades. I'd identify 2 similar value items where 1 would tend to sell for slightly more than the other, but people would be happy to trade them for each other rather than for currency. I'd trade the lower item for the slightly higher item directly, then trade it for currency. Buy the lower value one for currency, and repeat, making a profit each time and amassing a fortune.
@@ButtplugClock you find two items whose price generally overlap. Then you find someone that desperately wants a thing slightly lower in value. If they really want it, theyll trade. Then you basically just hold onto it until someone will give you the high end of what its worth. Then repeat.
What’s the best trade website. Issue is new and returning players (especially who didn’t trade) have 0 Idea what’s worth what plus finding each other (buyer & seller) is a nightmare
Happy to see you thriving in D2R Sadly my computer is so bad it can't run it. Been watching your speedruns probably since like 2015 or something when I would have a random D2 Kick.
@@redpatcher It's more than just that tbh, I appreciate it. It's an old build I bought back in 2013-2014 and by those standards it was already a bit dated.
I bought a $12 (shipped) video card off of eBay-- just some very low end DirectX 12 Radeon--and I can play Resurrected just fine in original graphics mode. (Playing with people playing the remake with new graphics.)
Nice guide, finally somebody who doesn't explain "just give your character an Eni and CTA as second weapon while Last Wish as your first, and have a few HRs to throw towards enemies, and the merc gets an Infinity Eth Thresher, Kira's Guardian and Tyraels Might", but what would have been nice, after saying that you can use cheaper stuff like lore and a spirit sowrd, then when you actually did the run, you should show us doing the run with that stuff, and not changing back to your HotO and Shako. Those items might give you better results, but as I understand it, the reason for the video was, how to get rich WITHOUT initially having those, right?!?
I played the demo of D2 in 2000, the game was locked at Cold Plains with no content after that. Then around 2005 I played LoD but more seriously, farming in bnet, dueling, trading etc. Now I'm 31 and I'm afraid to get hooked up again 😅 I think most D2R players are around 30 to 35 yrs old.
I found a pretty close perfect eth titans early ladder 1 season and kept it for a few weeks then traded it for 6 bers (lol) and made a javazon pretty quickly with infinity, enigma etc farmed cows and luckily made a 6 6 4 cta and made a further 6 ber, got griffons eye and just murdered hell baal runs all without an eth titans just a standard 1. Moral of the story (as mrllama said) keep those juicy items for later trading and you'll just snowball

Man, you managed to show basically all Diablo 2 game for 30 min. : ) edit: at 22:06 you literally describe the things on the Bulgarian flag - White/Green/Red :) +++
A very very very useful video, thanks! One note tho - some of the places that you say only take a couple of seconds to go to - for sorc maybe yes. For hammerdin for example is a pain in the ass to farm meph before u get a decent gear. Also a lot of places that are small like buildings, caves etc are really annoying to farm due to the fact that the damn hammers just bug their ass out. Cheers mate!
This is honestly the main reason most people start their ladder with a sorceress. Because their mobility is just so unbelievably good compared to any class until you can work up to Jah + Ber. Hammerdin is a great second class to farm for everything beyond Enigma but until you have it it's just so much better to be a sorc.
A critique against this video: this is NOT a guide on how to get rich. This is a guide on how to start acquiring consistent currency and it's put at a very noob level. There is definitely a lot more involved when you go from "I want to be able to afford some medium priced things" and "I want to be rich" and this video talks on the former not the latter. And I'm not even talking mega rich I'm talking like entry level rich.
Each of the cow difficulties has their own value because they can drop certain items. Normal cows can be good cause they drop appropriate white items that can provide the exact amount of sockets from Larzuk for a runeword
I never understood all the hate against in-game markets and auction houses. It's been a big part of the multiplayer community from the beginning, and having it officially part of the game simply adds to the convenience. I hope that someday a "SSF" status is added preventing all trade and markets for such flagged characters, and an official in-game market is introduced.
I remember beating the game in normal and then quiting because I didn't know the higher difficulty had better items lol I thought it was just a harder version. So I was like ya I beat the game , next game.
@@jakethegoodguy1975 In single player, the maps don't reset so you can basically setup the perfect LK map and run it, taking less than a minute to pop 3 super chests. That's incredibly profitable. Since the maps reset in multiplayer, it just isn't efficient enough.
Great video 👍 I think the depth of this game can really be under appreciated especially what seasoned players actively do at end game as warrior traders😁. Too add to a little bit for newer players, if the run areas like pit and countess are close enough, don't tp, just walk from Tamoe to Blackmarsh. Rng sometimes puts a nice reward literally under a rock for you 👍
If you're quick enough you can TP around and open chests/rocks etc with telekinesis without losing much downtime :P I always stop to kill champions/uniques/super-uniques too
I really like how you posted shitloads of videos for everything on D2R right after the release :D :D pretty nice, sence I've watched all the things I need from your videos ...
A few years ago I found Tal armor, 14 hours into ladder. Traded it for 4 hr and a dozen other runes. Got myself enigma and a hoto, in under 24 hours after launch.
Last ladder I ran in oldschool d2 I hit a Gul rune and spent the next 18 months flipping runes until I had hoto, cta, enigma and a few other things. Eventually I had nothing left to farm so I moved on. But almost 20 years later I'm back. It's time.
@MrLlamaSC can you make a video about the etiquette of picking up items in public d2 room? As a new player i have no idea how this community has been dealing with it throughout the years.
My best 2000ish trading moment : - See a game named "2occy for soj" - do the trade - refresh lobby, see a game called 3 soj for occy - do the trade - up 1 occy and 2 soj in about 40 seconds!
I love how he says here is how to get rich and then instantly talks about ubers. If you are running ubers... you are rich... real question is how the heck do you mf in nm and normal to actually get some get to do hell runs. That would be a more informative video.
Same concept, you can farm NM Andy, NM Meph, SOJ can drop from NM Andy. All it comes down to is lvl a sorc to 40-60, get some MF, and always be killing something. Trade up to whatever you need
he shows his equipment which is pretty much just a bunch of few socket items and low level runes that you get by the act 5 quest and a few countess runs on normal and nightmare. that build works well enough to carry you through hell and while you are there you constantly find some new stuff to upgrade like more fcr or a few magic find items to make bosskills more profitable. for a sorceress the runewords you are trying to assemble early are stealth -> lore -> ancients pledge -> spirit and insight for your merc. gl hf and teleport properly
My first char on d2r was a sorc, and I soloed the entire way to hell baal and was able to farm hell as soon as I got there with like 130 MF. Not super crazy efficient, or max MF or anything, but its a start. Gotten some okay drops so far. Its the same concept in any act really. Put on MF gear, rush to your target, kill, repeat until you get something of substance. It honestly is just a time = reward thing.
3 questions: 1) Since we can't do /players 3, etc, on bnet, is it better to do solo mephisto or kurast runs? Or is there a strategy to use like looking for players 2 games? I don't want to jack up someone else's game by killing meph just to hit p3. Or are most MF activities done in p1 on bnet? 2) What element is least resisted in Lower Kurast? 3) What are some places, if any, that fire-damage characters can run that are TC85?
Also a huge feature is that when your mercenary kills a monster, the game combines all of your MF % together with all of your merc's MF% do letting your Merc deliver the killing blow to all bosses, unique, rare and champion monsters you will boost your MF% by however much MG your Merc has
My first break was getting a Lo rune farming Nihlathak with a meteor sorc. Was able to get me a vex and ohm for CTA and hoto. ended up with a 40 and 6/5/4. Now I am just mfing and selling for between lem-gul, and close to affording an Enigma for my hammerdin.
NGL, when you started with the 401k statement there was a part of me hoping that you spent the whole 28 mins trolling by explaining real life examples of how to make long term investment plans 😂
something that you don't discuss or consider is that, this economy structure that you discuss is quite valid in a system with maybe 1,000 players, however, when a million people are playing the game and the raw number of items in the game is much higher suddenly, it may be the case that the value of items is simply based much closer to their drop rate
Lower kurast runs are really only profitable when you are able to manipulate the player count. If you're playing on battle net and doing solo you chances at runes are extremely low in general especially getting rares or anything else out of the LK runs. Same thing with MF farming hell andy and meph on p1 you often encounter the no drop unless you have people running with you.

I'm just realizing how carefully crafted this game market is... so interesting how bartering works, how the dynamics of the value of items fluctuate and how people trying to create some form on common currency fg/hrs etc. It really builds the world of Diablo 2. The market will settle after a while and trades will kind of get boring at some point. The only way to make it interesting or even possible to trade for certain items is during ladder resets. I'm just speculating here but there really isn't an incentive to play ladder except for ladder points... Like there wouldn't be enough of a supply in ladder to trade for certain things. Not sure if this will happen but it feels like it will. I'm curious how many people would do ladders or just get the gear and stop playing after a certain point. Like making ladder the source of many powerful runewords in my eyes seemed pretty cool looking back at it.
Well its gonna be mostly for the 3-6month ladder itch depending on how long a ladder is going to be and people are going to play for the resets most people will stop playing after a week or a month and the others will stick to trading/farming and trying out or just creating characters they liked. Its been like that for alot of years.

Samson Simpson, he stick to his story!
Loving your videos. Been over a decade since i played d2 and you have helped so much

I feel better about getting my shako for jalals in hc yesterday. I felt dirty, but you make a good point about the way people value things.
Buy the lower value one for currency, and repeat, making a profit each time and amassing a fortune.
what currency did you trade for?

Those items might give you better results, but as I understand it, the reason for the video was, how to get rich WITHOUT initially having those, right?!?
it's weird playing this d2 resurrected now. Reminds me of when I played like 18 years ago

I know I'm getting older because the 401k joke got me lol
Keep up the great work MrLlama!
Dropped occy at meph counsil and shako from stash in cats lvl2 , pop your popables guys!
Step 1 be able to play the game and not be locked out cuz character is already in game.

Each of the cow difficulties has their own value because they can drop certain items. Normal cows can be good cause they drop appropriate white items that can provide the exact amount of sockets from Larzuk for a runeword
Normal Cow for crystal sword and larzuk it for spirit sword, Hell Cow for Monarch for Spirit Shield

They tried that in d3 it was an epic fail

Great video 👍 I think the depth of this game can really be under appreciated especially what seasoned players actively do at end game as warrior traders😁. Too add to a little bit for newer players, if the run areas like pit and countess are close enough, don't tp, just walk from Tamoe to Blackmarsh. Rng sometimes puts a nice reward literally under a rock for you 👍
If you're quick enough you can TP around and open chests/rocks etc with telekinesis without losing much downtime :P I always stop to kill champions/uniques/super-uniques too
For large charms maybe it would be cool to see them get stats that charms don't normally have.

A few years ago I found Tal armor, 14 hours into ladder. Traded it for 4 hr and a dozen other runes. Got myself enigma and a hoto, in under 24 hours after launch.

- refresh lobby, see a game called 3 soj for occy
- do the trade
- up 1 occy and 2 soj in about 40 seconds!
Dude you are hilarious. Glad I randomly clicked on your video about Ubers.
You can literally do uber bosses with a level 20 paladin wearing dogshit gear. You don't need to be rich, you need to know how to play the game
You can farm keys and sell them for runes. Sell them in batch to those who want to do ubers. Work wonders in the begining
GUIDE How to play the game:
- Just watch some UA-cam and don't play the game.
3 questions:
1) Since we can't do /players 3, etc, on bnet, is it better to do solo mephisto or kurast runs? Or is there a strategy to use like looking for players 2 games? I don't want to jack up someone else's game by killing meph just to hit p3. Or are most MF activities done in p1 on bnet?
2) What element is least resisted in Lower Kurast?
3) What are some places, if any, that fire-damage characters can run that are TC85?
First step to getting rich: Be able to join games to actually play the game
Yeah its rough atm especially with map bug
Also a huge feature is that when your mercenary kills a monster, the game combines all of your MF % together with all of your merc's MF% do letting your Merc deliver the killing blow to all bosses, unique, rare and champion monsters you will boost your MF% by however much MG your Merc has
step 1: be a streamer.
step 2: accept all free stuff from watchers
step 3: profit
My first break was getting a Lo rune farming Nihlathak with a meteor sorc. Was able to get me a vex and ohm for CTA and hoto. ended up with a 40 and 6/5/4. Now I am just mfing and selling for between lem-gul, and close to affording an Enigma for my hammerdin.
NGL, when you started with the 401k statement there was a part of me hoping that you spent the whole 28 mins trolling by explaining real life examples of how to make long term investment plans 😂
I've got a couple financial advice videos up on my yt :)
something that you don't discuss or consider is that, this economy structure that you discuss is quite valid in a system with maybe 1,000 players, however, when a million people are playing the game and the raw number of items in the game is much higher suddenly, it may be the case that the value of items is simply based much closer to their drop rate
This would only be true if each item had equal usefulness. They don't.
You've done a great job portraying the mindset of a barb player :D

Honestly, trading is the worst Part in D2. I like poe way more
I'm just realizing how carefully crafted this game market is... so interesting how bartering works, how the dynamics of the value of items fluctuate and how people trying to create some form on common currency fg/hrs etc.
This is was molded me into a businessman. This game. Trade for profit. That's the saying
Well its gonna be mostly for the 3-6month ladder itch depending on how long a ladder is going to be and people are going to play for the resets most people will stop playing after a week or a month and the others will stick to trading/farming and trying out or just creating characters they liked.
Its been like that for alot of years.
