Is there some reason not to play solo and use the /playersX command if you want to make things more difficult and bump up drops, given all rune words are available regardless of ladder etc (unlike in the original/LoD)?
@@steeltrap3800 playing multiplayer, at least for me, is the way to go. I’ve beaten the game too many times to count, so I enjoy getting rushed and then playing with other players. It’s how I played 15 years ago. Trading is also a huge plus. Don’t like cheating/modding for items or for levels either on SP.
Got a Harlequin Crest Shako today in the Maggot Lair and found Bul Kathoas Wedding Band yesterday on the way to Andariel. Played Diablo 2 as a kid, but this is my first time in Hell difficulty.
I could never beat it as a kid, id always get stuck on Duriel. My 10 yo brain wasnt capable of grasping game mechanics, proper stat distribution, talent synergy and buildcrafting.

Yeah bro difficult loot and making sure no class can dominate the entire game , atleast not without alot of gear. Has been the secret sauce that has made this game so successful. Never quite feeling strong enough is what keeps us playing.
I just farmed Worldstone Keep on my Bone Necro, not even Baal, and got a 28 str/30 res Tyrael's Might. 20 years of this game and it's the first one I've ever seen, and it's a really good roll for stats. I'm instantly D2R rich lol.
I know this video is 10 months old but llama describing you have to be aware of the architecture for your build to work really makes me wanna go to blizzard and show them this right here I want more D2 stuff like this in D4.
Just to add what you have missed for Lightning - Arcane Sanctuary as for light char it’s easier to farm there without Infinity and also a great area for Keys from Summoner and also, if you get on the wrong path the chests give you nice items like GC CS 30 Life or something else
That's what I was gonna say, Arcane Sanctuary is an amazing place to farm lightning damage. Plus between the ghost mobs and the chests it's a great place yo farm runes.
Hey MrLlama, could you please do a video on how to deal with immunities on a budget? What skills are a good replacement for the main skill on each build in the case i have to deal with immunes?
Sorry I'm not Llama but I'll just paraphrase what he said re this in another video: If you see immunes, run! You don't need to kill everything in Hell! Focus on your character's strenghts for farming and avoid immunities.
@@vicentiupredescu7205 Yes, but there are plenty of areas where that doesn't really work, for example Baal-runs. Also, since I am talking about budget (solo selffound in my case), just running through and ignoring immunes can be quite dangerous, since I have most likely low resistances, FHR ec.

There is no light immunities in arcane sanctuary, however this location is only lvl 79. Also ghosts have a greater chance to drop some runes (if you don't kill them over the void).
I love farming there with a lit sorc. Especially since they're all in straight lines, haha. Unfortunate that they are only lvl 79 . . . Would be cool if you could somehow buff area levels
Ive done baal as a an Orb/Chain lightning sorc pretty fine, just chain lightning wave 2 from range and you're good. It's not super optimized mind you but unless you get succubi/chaos sanctuary mobs in the throne room you wont have much of a problem at all.
Never tried orb/chain lightning yet but Orb/firewall is also a very good build to farm all the content ;) firewall do insane dps on every boss and help the merc with immunes
I always felt like light needs too many synergies to hybrid effectively. I go orb maxed and mastery maxed for cold then I max firewall and fire mastery. Orb is op unless cold immune. Firewall dmg is op without needing synergies so you can optimize your other points into support skills. And the few cold/fire immune you encounter can be dealt with via merc or kiting away if they are hella enchanted. Decent gear atm but nothing god tier. Occy and spirit. Shako, plus 2 cold army or plus 2 fire if I'm going where I know alot of cold immunity. No skiller gc or soj no set pieces. I'm curious how high your light dmg is as a cold light hybrid. Do you max. Light skills then take cold or mix? Be interested to see your build..
@@barchibald86 usually they’re maxed lightning first and Orb is more of an “inbetween” at least how I did mine. Lite has just crazy high damage, and with Infinity you’re well, taking away any res for the most part. But it’s an expensive build by far.
Chaos sanctuary is also pretty doable on a cold character. The only significant native cold immune are Oblivion knights, which a merc can handle well now that iron maiden is no longer a thing.

One thing that this video highlights is how much content can be opened by duel elements. On a Blizzard Sorceress sparing 21 points to max Firewall and dump a point into Fire Mastery does wonders. All the bosses are easy and fast with this set up.

baal wave 2, you can go for 2 options, depending on gear: -put 1 point in fanaticism and smite em down -use holy bolt, yes it's magical but it trumps the immunity because it's specifically against undead.
Just started a single player character and found a Nagel on Countess . I am up to act 3 now and another unique ring dropped . I was hoping for another decent Nagel - but was pleasantly surprised to see a Manald due to my Zon's mana issues . It's weird how much you appreciate every little thing when you are starting out with nothing . LoL !!
I have found Titans, and Thunderstroke (+4 skills), a shako, Gul rune, Zod rune, Goreriders, and so many smaller uniques this week alone. Been playing everyday with an Orb sorc, mostly cows, Mephisto, and I find very good items farming the Black Marsh.
I know it's not listed as an area for Lightning classes, but my second Arcane Sanctuary run on a Javazon gave me my first Ohm rune. And no immunities, except the towers. I'm never farming anywhere else again
I had a hydra bow (windforce)drop in "The Hole" in act 1 hell. Been playing since inception, and never had one drop anywhere but nightmare meph before. Crazy way the game keeps staying interesting!
I have a magic find skellymancer. He can break physical immunity, so he’s only limited by A: narrow corridors or platforms where the skelly army gets bunched up and only gets at the enemies two at a time. (The Maggot Lair was one time and never again!) And B: gloams. He’s got crap immunities, so high level gloams will one-shot him because their piercing lightning goes straight through his minions as if they weren’t even there.
The Pit can definitely spawn lightning immunes, I think they’re the dark archers? I just know there’s groups my Javazon either skips or has to pump through with physical and help from my merc/valk
as a meteor orb sorc with a decent merc..im wearing on my merc a insight in a eth col voulge, have stone runeword in a hell armor that is 2500 armor and natalyas green set helmet...thats all i can make rn...i rly want vamp gaze helmet and any dmg reduction until i get a eth cryptic axe for infinity once i get all tals set my set up can pretty much deal with everything...the fire/cold immunes are the toughest but my merc can get thru it also, i have a good friend i play with almost everyday who is a poison necro...so that helps a lot but i can do it solo
Where do you go as a Javazon? I've been getting really frustrated that basically all of the areas on the list gets a lot of lightning immune mobs. The pit definitely always has 1 - 2 boss archers that are lighting immune. My merc can handle one such mob at a time, but not 2. Worldstone keep is the same - its 50% lightning immune most of the time.
@@Three60Mafia ur a cow killer...ur meant for cows basically...the mf sorc/pally/pnecro are the farmer types look at it this way...youre better at killing cows than a mf sorc and cows are known to drop a lot of high runes...so in a way you have a hidden mf with the advantage of cycling through drops to get more high runes than a mf sorc would otherwise... then you take those and get what you need for other classes.... my advice is kill a lot of hell cows and build a 2nd mf character like a uber pally or mf sorc
I still don't get how immunities work. I have cold mastery leveled to -100 immunities so I figured I would start seeing them fall.. but I haven't. It's annoying because Pits, countess, and shenk/eldritch are so quick and easy but they are all cold immune. Countess is quick enough with merc. Not time efficient to have my merc fight them all. I am unsure if I should respec and not level cold mastery (or will I eventually break immunes) and instead level fireball.
@@gnarxy you will not break cold immunities. d2 was designed with multiplayer in mind. it disregards solo/single element builds like no other game I am in the same boat, playing blizz sorc. and game is basically like "f...k off, mate, half of the mobs ARE COLD IMMUNE, deal with it, peasant" Soooo annoying
Cold sorc can definitely run Nihlathak too. It's not bad unless he spawns cold immune. Just drop some blizzards on the stage from the edge, check for GCs and keys and out you go. If he is cold immune I just leave and don't bother. I'd also add infernal pit( frozen tundra sub area ) for lightning. It's not lvl 85 and the only thing that can spawn light immune there is night lords, which doesn't seem to be very often. I dropped a death's fathom in there. But same as nihla, if night lords spawn I just skip that zone that run. Their frenzy eats mercs up.
Chaos, cows and tombs seems best for ps sin. It benefits from being able to carry momentum between just tons of mobs. Baal is doable but annoying for the council wave. Pindle + halls of blank is good if you're waiting for a Baal tp.
Finally pulled the trigger on the subscribe button. You're content is great! Idea for future video. Sadly I have a slower rig and if I teleport around my game freezes, rig crashes and I wake up with a dead character in camp. Would I be possible to get a guide to transition from NM to hell while killing everything? Niche I know but it would be incredibly helpful.
MrLlamaSC, my only suggestion would of been to add the zone level next to the names, I know you began mentioning the levels and items you could see. Maybe another video explaining how area levels work in regards to item level, so people don't farm Andy looking for Tyrael's Might.
as a barb i can farm anywhere but since i'm pretty strong, i don't have much mf. so because of that i focus in monster dense areas such as cows and chaos sanctuary in hopes for just raw rune drops. as a barb you just can't have both great power and high mf ._.
Honestly I’m at 30 MF rn but able to clear Baal on nightmare by myself finally. I’m just happy too I’m able to run in Hell properly now! Gotta start off slow and appreciate the journey. I remember when I legit couldn’t even do Diablo’s minions on my own in nightmare, like at all. Now I’m killing Andariel on Hell.
@@Maxoxpower you are doin something wrong. Summ necro can do all of this naked and with only mf items. The only problem will be baal cuz hes resistant and takes a while to kill. Summ necromancer is a tad bit slow in some places but can do everything with no difficulty. I usually have like 20 30 resists and i never had any problems. Cowlevel is fast because with 1 corpse explosion you clear a helluva lot of cows.
You forgot crypt for Fire. I have been doing Crypt and Mausoleum on my fire sorc for a while and it's a breeze. The Ancient's Way is also very good, a lot of packs there along with Evil Urns to spawn even more. Shenk can be very tricky if you spawn only Fire Immunes around him, especially archers and throwers. But that probably only is a problem if you do not have maxed out resistance and decent block on Sorc.
I put in so many hours on D2 I just can’t buy it again as much as I’d love the community. I still wish I was more D2 rich off-ladder but I have a job now. Lol
Frozen orb+fireball sorc - pits, ancient city, chaos, baalruns, all bosses, keys. The only place it seems not super great is cows (5-6min) - but you can do flayer jungle
To all Cold sorceress you can farm any area and really fast the trick is in your merc , you get forti andy and eth insight for him . My merc pretty much one-2 hits any mob in chaos that is cold immune and they die so I can farm chaos almost as fast as hammer .
Not much to say about it. You can put a point in it for extra safety in HC but should still invest everything into vitality because of the mana burn bug. you could get 1 shotted if you max energy ,it's also important to note that damage to mana is pre resistance making it a pretty weak investement imo.
I have a level 91 LS/DS trap sin i farm pits all the time it is probably the best place in the game to farm most of my good finds have come from the pits

I have an 87 Blizz and I might honestly reroll Orb. I struggle to enjoy Blizz even though it does obscene damage.

The Pit can definitely spawn lightning immunes, I think they’re the dark archers? I just know there’s groups my Javazon either skips or has to pump through with physical and help from my merc/valk
They kill my merc all the time. They are Dark Archers.
as a meteor orb sorc with a decent merc..im wearing on my merc a insight in a eth col voulge, have stone runeword in a hell armor that is 2500 armor and natalyas green set helmet...thats all i can make rn...i rly want vamp gaze helmet and any dmg reduction until i get a eth cryptic axe for infinity once i get all tals set
my set up can pretty much deal with everything...the fire/cold immunes are the toughest but my merc can get thru it
also, i have a good friend i play with almost everyday who is a poison necro...so that helps a lot but i can do it solo
But I think the pit he mentioned was the Pit of Acheron, no?
Where do you go as a Javazon? I've been getting really frustrated that basically all of the areas on the list gets a lot of lightning immune mobs. The pit definitely always has 1 - 2 boss archers that are lighting immune. My merc can handle one such mob at a time, but not 2. Worldstone keep is the same - its 50% lightning immune most of the time.
@@Three60Mafia ur a cow killer...ur meant for cows basically...the mf sorc/pally/pnecro are the farmer types
look at it this way...youre better at killing cows than a mf sorc and cows are known to drop a lot of high runes...so in a way you have a hidden mf with the advantage of cycling through drops to get more high runes than a mf sorc would otherwise...
then you take those and get what you need for other classes....
my advice is kill a lot of hell cows and build a 2nd mf character like a uber pally or mf sorc

I still don't get how immunities work. I have cold mastery leveled to -100 immunities so I figured I would start seeing them fall.. but I haven't. It's annoying because Pits, countess, and shenk/eldritch are so quick and easy but they are all cold immune. Countess is quick enough with merc. Not time efficient to have my merc fight them all.
I am unsure if I should respec and not level cold mastery (or will I eventually break immunes) and instead level fireball.
@@gnarxy you will not break cold immunities. d2 was designed with multiplayer in mind. it disregards solo/single element builds like no other game
I am in the same boat, playing blizz sorc. and game is basically like "f...k off, mate, half of the mobs ARE COLD IMMUNE, deal with it, peasant"
Soooo annoying
Cold sorc can definitely run Nihlathak too. It's not bad unless he spawns cold immune. Just drop some blizzards on the stage from the edge, check for GCs and keys and out you go. If he is cold immune I just leave and don't bother.
I'd also add infernal pit( frozen tundra sub area ) for lightning. It's not lvl 85 and the only thing that can spawn light immune there is night lords, which doesn't seem to be very often. I dropped a death's fathom in there. But same as nihla, if night lords spawn I just skip that zone that run. Their frenzy eats mercs up.

One tip is for cold, join a full party game and farm exp at a2 hell far oasis. You can farm this until level 80

Chaos, cows and tombs seems best for ps sin. It benefits from being able to carry momentum between just tons of mobs. Baal is doable but annoying for the council wave.
Pindle + halls of blank is good if you're waiting for a Baal tp.

Idea for future video. Sadly I have a slower rig and if I teleport around my game freezes, rig crashes and I wake up with a dead character in camp. Would I be possible to get a guide to transition from NM to hell while killing everything? Niche I know but it would be incredibly helpful.
MrLlamaSC, my only suggestion would of been to add the zone level next to the names, I know you began mentioning the levels and items you could see. Maybe another video explaining how area levels work in regards to item level, so people don't farm Andy looking for Tyrael's Might.
as a barb i can farm anywhere but since i'm pretty strong, i don't have much mf. so because of that i focus in monster dense areas such as cows and chaos sanctuary in hopes for just raw rune drops. as a barb you just can't have both great power and high mf ._.
same thing with my necro summoner. pretty heavy gears but no MF. at least its fast and i can clear EVERY ZONES
Honestly I’m at 30 MF rn but able to clear Baal on nightmare by myself finally. I’m just happy too I’m able to run in Hell properly now! Gotta start off slow and appreciate the journey. I remember when I legit couldn’t even do Diablo’s minions on my own in nightmare, like at all. Now I’m killing Andariel on Hell.
@@Maxoxpower you are doin something wrong. Summ necro can do all of this naked and with only mf items. The only problem will be baal cuz hes resistant and takes a while to kill. Summ necromancer is a tad bit slow in some places but can do everything with no difficulty. I usually have like 20 30 resists and i never had any problems. Cowlevel is fast because with 1 corpse explosion you clear a helluva lot of cows.
You forgot crypt for Fire.
I have been doing Crypt and Mausoleum on my fire sorc for a while and it's a breeze.
The Ancient's Way is also very good, a lot of packs there along with Evil Urns to spawn even more.
Shenk can be very tricky if you spawn only Fire Immunes around him, especially archers and throwers.
But that probably only is a problem if you do not have maxed out resistance and decent block on Sorc.
I put in so many hours on D2 I just can’t buy it again as much as I’d love the community. I still wish I was more D2 rich off-ladder but I have a job now. Lol
Poison necro with a good merc can farm anywhere in the game, there's only 3 or 4 different monster types that lower resist wont break poison immune.
Frozen orb+fireball sorc - pits, ancient city, chaos, baalruns, all bosses, keys. The only place it seems not super great is cows (5-6min) - but you can do flayer jungle
To all Cold sorceress you can farm any area and really fast the trick is in your merc , you get forti andy and eth insight for him . My merc pretty much one-2 hits any mob in chaos that is cold immune and they die so I can farm chaos almost as fast as hammer .

Not much to say about it. You can put a point in it for extra safety in HC but should still invest everything into vitality because of the mana burn bug. you could get 1 shotted if you max energy ,it's also important to note that damage to mana is pre resistance making it a pretty weak investement imo.

Yea, the Pit (Act 1) has lightning immunes. The Pit of Acheron does not. Pretty sure that's one of the red portal areas in Act 5.
archers tend to OWN my physical characters so I stay away from the pits with them.

For Cold Mephisto is only doable fine with Engima or Sorc, the way to him is full of annoying Cold Resistance Enemys

I have a level 91 LS/DS trap sin i farm pits all the time it is probably the best place in the game to farm most of my good finds have come from the pits
