I’m going to say something I never thought I would ever say! I trust a car salesman! Fair play to you for being honest about how much a car has cost you, how much you have had to spend and what your expected mark up would be as well as pointing out all the negatives. You have proven to me that not all car sales and mechanics are complete rip off merchants

Most of them aren’t, it’s the small amount of bad eggs in this trade that ruin it for everyone unfortunately. All the dealers I’ve dealt with are genuine people who work very hard and do their best for their customers and I like to think I do the same for mine 😊

Loved my Phaeton, my friend and I bought at the same time, I bought a cheaper 3.0d for about £2k, he bought the V10 d

I’ve had VW’s for the past 15yrs. Mainly Golf’s in different specs. But this one most certainly catches my eye.
And I recently sold my well maintained 03 Seat Leon Cupra for an 08’ Ford Mondeo Titanium X 2.2D Manual.
Happy as can be with the Mondeo. Fully toyed up 😊 Nice Phaeton though by all accounts

I had a 3.2 phaeton. I converted it to LPG and did 75000 over 4 years. Everything was fine, but it had an electrical problem. Volkwagen wanted £3000 to rectify so sadly after 4 months trying others I sold her as parts for £1000 I was so sad what a car the diesel looks a better deal

Manheim get plates around corner 2-3 quid. I always end up paying 13-14 eBay for the pair. Good going freshening up a set plates 4 quid each
We have our own printer, so we buy the blank media in bulk, each plate costs us around £4+vat, (I think 😂)

Just a curiosity... When you say swapping tyres front to back, you mean so that the best/newest ones are on the back (as it should be), right?
So many people get that wrong it's crazy!!!
Just to have matching tyres across the axles so it’s Fronts are more important for cornering and braking but rears get a harder life in RWD cars
@@ShiftingMetal Rears more important for stability, especially in a slide - which is probably why most manufacturers recommend having the best on the back even in a FWD car.
Shouldn't matter that much if the difference in tread isn't too large, but in wet conditions especially you'd ideally have best on the back regardless.
Note these are 4WD and a proper 50/50 split not just RWD

Buy it in 200 litre barrels, every month!

It is a shame that the residuals for these cars fall to that point where they get neglected and abused. They are just as well made as top end sports stuff from the sister firm Porsche but since Porsche sports cars are always worth a fair bit, they don’t get neglected.
Not too sure, who would be your target audience to sell too. Someone who wants a luxury barge but not too fussed on the badge will be difficult to find. But I’m hopeful you will get your asking price, just may take a little longer than usual

When you do sell it, it would be great who ever buys it gave us their reasons why this particular car, then it would finish off the story really well
I think they’ve got a good following of people who really like them so, yes, I think it will take a little longer but there will be someone for it!

Anybody remember Clarkson on top gear predicting this to be a contender for the XJ jaguar? How wrong he was. Jag any day and every time.
I wouldn't buy a car if it's been serviced by the garage themselves as they stick any cheap & nasty oil in the cars and use the same oil regardless of engine type. It devalues the car. £2.00 per litre! Poor car...
Follow me on Instagram and you’ll see in my stories, right now, Abarth specific oil, only available in 2 litre cans @ £12 per litre that we have just got a for a sales car’s service. We use the right stuff, every time. But we buy low ash 5W30 in 200 litre drums for around £400, as the majority of cars take that… Not all garages run the same way!
