It's very strange but this one doesn't sound like a lip sync.
I was a little boy when theis song came out and I remember how much my mom and my aunt loved Cass. What a voice!
I dare to say that John Phillips' joke about "mushroom" is at least unpolite with his bandmate. Mama Cass' uncomfortable expression is so evident. She had a beautiful, steady, strong voice, heaps of talent...
He was a bully to her 😩😩
@@allaboutbeebo4092He was not a nice guy in any way. Arrogant and disrespectful. She deserved so much better.
He was always demeaning towards her, but was smart enough to know that she vital to their succes.
In the end she had enough.
Horrible
So was the audience.
Not only was Mama Cass so talented with her singing but also with her feet.
I watched a video on Cass' life and she had a heart full of Love. And fought to lose her excess pounds. What a shame she died so young.
This is, Life in the Past Lane
It's one of those days when a song, today it was this song , will come into my mind and I go reeling back to when it was released. I see faces I see places which cause me to cry a little bit. I have those days I am who I am there is so much about the past that I miss and so much uncertainty when I look forward. It has been very difficult for me to live in the present lately thanks for getting me through it all
Good God, what a voice!
She’s the one that passed away? My goodness, rest in peace-but she CARRIED this whole song...one of my favorites from the band for sure! What a talent!
Michelle is now the only surviving member x
she died in 1974...the tall speaking one died in 2001, the other guy died in 2007...The skinny lady is the only one alive today
Mama Cass Elliott's magical voice on this song gives me happy little goosebumps!
I accidentally discovered this song today April 11 2024 I’m 50yrs old, by taking a chance, I never heard this song before. This song is beautiful. The piano I can imagine, Doors pianist, Ray Manzarak, playing the piano, I think this song could have came out just as beautifully sung by Jim Morrison. But Momma Cass knocks it out of the park!❤
Ellen Naomi Cohen …what to say about this fabulous person with the voice of an angel. She fronted this amazing quartet, and the other three knew that Mama Cass was the driving force. Together they made a sound that can still find fans once they hear their beautiful songs.
Cass Elliot would have turned 80 this year, born on 19 September 1941. Cass died far too young in 1974. However her incredible voice lives on for us. Forever.
RIP Mama Cass. Your fans still love, adore and hold you in the highest esteem. ♥️
Amazing Voice, Mama Cass definitely hit it !☮️
I miss her so 💔
Every time I hear her sing and see these great videos, I cry to know she was taken away from us too soon. Mama Cass you were the best. What a talent....the whole band for that matter
I broke down today knowing I couldn’t ever tell her how much I loved her. It felt like true grieving, that’s how much of an impact she made on me. ❤️❤️ We love you Cass Elliot
They are LIVE here...no lip synch
Are you sure? The California Dreaming version of the same gig isn't?
I'm not knocking their talent by saying this btw, just don't want folk mislead
EDIT: I don't know the original of this so I'm none the wiser also
@@chickenbonenowison I am sure at least Cass is singing live, its not exactly like either version of this song. Even when she lets the mic get away a bit the sound decreases. I think its live
@@tuneaddicted it might have been recorded live there and played back during the filming? Not sure. Not knocking the performance mind, it's good
The singing was live and the music was recorded.
I doubt it. In the day all variety/ tonight shows and even Bandstand was strictly mimed, why I don't know but I suspect it may have had to do with costs for performances -live v mimed. As the shows then were always live they would not chance a stuff-up by the band or artists, it was the only way to make sure a live show was aired perfectly.
In their E S Show performance of "Creeque Alley" Cass actually shocks the group by saying "cue the tape" at the beginning of their performance, this was taboo as it was meant to be a sacred secret that all live shows like this were mimed.
I think mama cass made the mama and papas sucess with out this special talented fantastic singer i dont think they would have got the fame without her r.i p mama cass xx❤
Merveilleux groupe - Gentille Cass et talentueuse !! elle rayonnait.
Mama Cass you were fabulous
What a voice, Cass! 😮 Soooo powerful, so beautiful.
A true loss way before her time. We love you Cass RIP!! You will always live in our hearts!!
So so true. One of a true fine. Loved her, respected Cass.😊
she was magical indeed, it's so good to hear her singing
Great voice ❤
Thank you Cass.....all these years later, I'm tearing up...after all we have been through...the 60's a moveable feast, so glad I was there.
I watched this video five times and I noticed that I was focused on Cass the whole time. I love that last "anymore". The lady could sing!
Lovely Mama Cass. I love her. Beautiful little doll Michelle. I love her too.
🔴 The volume and clarity of her voice was amazing
Mama Cass had such a beautiful & powerful voice. RIP
Cash Elliott expressed everything my mother tried instilling into me about character c& personality, stating good looks fade, these other personality attributes are longer lived. Cass was spontaneous- thanks for this clip, JaneR
