What an honor to talk with my dear friend Owen. She has such a beautiful heart and really knows how to tell a good story. I’m grateful that I got to meet her mama and that we have been blessed with over a 50 year friendship!!!!! Thank you Owen. I LOVE YOU. Peace of Christ.

I met Cass Elliot in the Burbank airport. I was waiting for a flight and she walked in the door. She had just gotten off a plane and came inside the airport. I think it was around 1970. Back then the Burbank airport was small and it was easy to see people. I walked over to her, introduced myself, and told her how much I loved her singing. She was so polite and pleasant. She stopped and talked to me and thanked me for liking her. She was all alone. Not like now where a celebrity has security and you can't get near them. Times have changed. She was a classy lady. Hope she is still singing in heaven. She was, and is, missed.

With all the information we're learning about metabolism and weight these days, it's obvious that Cass' weight was more than just calories in/calories out. I get really angry when I hear people called pigs and told they have no self control. There are frequently underlying factors and medicine STILL hasn't figured it all out. Putting all that on her and not respecting her incredible talent is a sin. She was the voice everyone listened for in the group and her solo recordings are phenomenal!!

True story: I held Owen when she was a newborn baby. I was about 10. My dad was the M&Ps business manager and friend, and my parents took me to Cass Elliott’s Laurel Canyon house to celebrate the birth. As the nurse placed the baby in my arms she told me, I was the first one to hold her, besides Cass and the doctor. I was star struck, and in Heaven. My dad Don Sterling was in Papa John’s book…

My mom is a beautiful singer and I was always so afraid to sing because of fear of being compared to her. Then I joined a third order Carmelite group at my parish where we had to chant the psalms. I sang and was actually in tune! I sang for my mom for the first time at age 60 (she was 85) and asked her to help me with the chants. She literally cried, because she never heard me sing and said how joyful it made her feel to hear me sing. I hope Cass's daughter will sing without that fear of comparison. It is so joyful to sing! God bless you both.

my grandpa would line my sister and me up, 8 9 ish in age, to sing for him ,and he smiled so happy and would shake his head in that way when one is meaning wow, and said, you girls will never go hungry you can sing for your supper. Both times she was Electrifying. Also interviewed Michelle Phillips in the Seventies. As per Cass`s evaluation of Michelle, I concur. Said Cass, `I have to pinch her to keep her focused`.

Personally one of my favorite songs of Cass is Different from the Puff N Stuff film. What a TREAT! I’ve struggled with my weight since childhood (I’m 65) and Cass Elliot was my fav of the Mamas & Papas. I understand fat shaming and it was really bad in the 60’s and 70’s. All I could get to wear was tent dresses (very unflattering) in the “chubby girls department “. I was turned down and even laughed at for trying out for cheerleading. Three years ago, I finally lost 1/2 of my body weight to try to control my diabetes. Jesus is my rock and strength and I could not have done it without Him! When I am in my car alone, I love to try to harmonize with Cass. God bless and thank you!

Put fork down and wait 10-15 minutes. If I was still hungry eat a bit more, if not, get up. This helped a lot. It takes your brain about 15 minutes after you eat to register fullness. If you feel full, or worse, stuffed when you get up from the table you have over eaten. I didn’t make any changes in what I ate at that point. Just stop before you are “full”. Later, I started substituting one meal a day with a high protein smoothie made with some strawberries and vanilla flavored protein powder.

I loved the music from The Mammas & The Pappas. Every song was gold, but Dream A Little Dream Of Me was my favorite. Cass had a voice that was pure and strong, and yet, it sounded like a prayer that God had answered personally. Such a loss so early. She will be missed forever. ❤

Oh wow , that was so special to meet Owen and hear her story . It's wonderful that you two are friends . Cass Elliot was an exceptional talent and will never be forgotten . It's hard to understand God's purpose when people pass away so young but I have faith that all will be revealed in the next life . Owen seems like such a warm ,grounded person . 💝💝💝🇨🇦

I was brought up in strict Christian home but one night my father allowed us to watch the Ed Sullivan show where we heard the beautiful music that came from your parents and Denny. From then on, my father allowed me to listen to the “Mama’s and Papa’s” but no other music unless it was from our church. My heart always feels happy when I listen to anything produced by the Mam’s and Papa’s or Mama Cass Elliot. Thank you for this enchanting video. Owen is so much like her Mother. Many blessings to both you girls. 💕

Cass Elliot was a beautiful, incredibly talented lady and she is missed tremendously still today. The rumors that went around about her were awful and so incredibly hurtful.

Cass will always be an unforgettable icon. She has one of the most astonishing voices that we'll ever hear. Singing alongside such a powerhouse vocalist as Cass, it was easy to overlook what a beautiful voice Michelle has. I only discovered how wonderful it was after hearing some of Michelle's solo songs on a Mamas & Papas compilation. She's also a great actress!

Mamas and Papas are the most uplifting, witty and classy rock and roll music that ever was. Your music will instantly put me in a good mood. It's a shame that it really only lasted about two and a half years. All very intelligent gifted people

Here it is, 2022, and me being over 66 years old. I'm so grateful to have stumbled over this video and updated more and better info and the truths they reveal. As a child during that time, this was pretty much my mother's music but also mine as it is what I started hearing and singing to as I reached for adult hood, and my love for music.
Thank you for getting together to help me rehash my past with you on these subjects. I loved and hung on every word you both spoke. 🙂❤

Chynna, I was clinging to every word from you and Owen. I was "coming of age" with The Mamas and The Papas music and performances. Cass had such a beautiful voice and yes, they were unique compared to other groups of the time. Owen truly has a calm demeanor when speaking of her Mother and her Father. I want to wish You, Billy, your Mom, Pokey & your kitty a very Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving and to all your Cal Preach babes and to Owen too.
