Thank you! Your video is the best & easy to follow. I have another Epson in storage that I think I'll bring back in because I bet I can get it working after watching this video. Keep up the good work.
To EASILY unlatch that "lid holder upper thingee": 1. lift your control panel up completely. 2. lower or completely remove the black plastic panel directly under the lifted control panel. 3. open the printer lid the least amount that allows you to get your fingers on that latch. 4. lower the lid and latch straight down as far as possible while continuing to hold onto the latch. 5. Push the lowest portion of the latch you are touching, straight back towards the back of the printer. This allows the small protruding "knobs" on the bottom sides of the latch, to clear the plastic housing that holds it in. (I forgot to look to see if there is a "knob" on each side at the bottom of the latch or just on the left side, but this works either way). 6. After you push the latch to the rear and it clears that housing, continue to hold it back as you lift the printer lid. The latch is spring hinged, so you must hold it back to keep it from going back into place and re-latching inside the housing.
To replace, just hold the latch behind the housing, bring the lid down as far as possible and push the bottom of the latch forward toward the front of the printer. Lift up slightly on the lid.
Thank you!
Oh wow, I should've read this before I began. How many times do we have to do this cleaning process? Is this a yearly thing with these epson printers? I didn't know I was buying such a high maintenance printer. The liquid cleaner was also very hard to squeeze through the tube for all the colors. I even pushed too hard at one point and exploded all the liquid all over inside, so hopefully it didn't ruin anything.
This is the best video seen on this issue thanks so very much.
You're very welcome!
Thank you SO very much! I usually rely on my husband to fix stuff but I was able to do this myself! Your video was so informative and easy to follow.
You're welcome!
The clog issue happens way more often with printers than it should. Would love it if the printer companies actually added a cleaning solution tank and clean the heads for you instead of wasting a bunch of ink; but, we know that would impact re-sales. Anyway, it is much more of an issue with EcoTanks because you aren't swapping cartridges. This is very helpful and I will be printing pages more often to avoid the clogs, but use this when I forget. NOTE: My only issue with your steps is having people run a power clean at the end. Instead, I would do a nozzle check because a power clean will fill up the maintenance box with ink and eventually that would have to be replaced. Running some ink purge sheets (Pages or images that just have the 4 ink colors in stripes or a full sheet of color) through multiple times would be better to clear out any excess air and then get the ink flowing through the heads instead of wasting a bunch of ink with a power clean.
It is true that our cleaning uses more ink however, it is the quickest way to get back to printing normally again. As ink is able to fill the system much quicker actually when you do a nozzle check or a nozzle cleaning it's the same process just in a smaller dose so if you have to do multiple nozzle cleanings, you may end up with the same amount of ink being used. Rather than using the power cleaning twice at the most, and having instant results.
Excellent point that print flush is probably something to avoid as much as possible so we don't end up soaking the maintenance box and needing to replace it sooner rather than later.! Once the maintenance box with is often little more than a little container with a sponge inside gets full you have to replace it otherwise the printer will refuse to work and even with the bypass that is sometimes available it could theoretically cause the the excess ink to spill inside the printer!
This is an amazing video! Thank you for the detailed instructions :)
Glad it was helpful!
Brilliant, very well explained, perfect thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Everything is cleaned. Now when you say that if the scanner cable gets disconnected, its so easy to fix it, it's not worth you putting a video out. Well guess what? Some of us need that video!
Where do the scanner cables reconnect? Did you do a video on these cables
It's Very simple to insert the cables. Why you pulled your's out ? Just look. They slide right in minimum resistance inserting. If you're not successful just take a second look. Simple Ribbon Cable in use since the 60's. Good Luck! Reply to me if you wish, I've been cleaning printers for 40 plus years. Take a chance you'll be fine........ Mike R
My cables came apart also during the cleaning process and they are in such a tight space, I’m unable to get them re-connected even using a pair of fine jewelry pliers. Ugh! ;(
Thank you so much! I followed your video and my printer now works so much better! It wasn’t printing yellow or cyan but it is now!! Thank you so much for your very informative video!!!!
You're welcome!
Thank you, very helpful and detailed.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you this fixed the problem!
YES!
Thank you for your video. I have the same problem with the same model of printer.
Hope this helps!
The cyan was not printing, so bought your kit and followed directions exactly, including the part where the cables came unplugged, haha! What a b**ch to get those plugged back in, but in the end, all four colors are printing now. Thank you. But the top was too easily unhinged, causing those flimsy ribbon cables to come unplugged. My advice is to not let the top be raised more than about 45 degrees.
Glad to hear it worked!
ATTENTION, Please make sure to have your ink tanks full before attempting this cleaning. Also allow 24 hours to dry before powering back on.

You should said that at the beginning of the video. :/
Yeah that would’ve been nice.
nice video! on my 2850 the top part actually opens up all the way with out having to take any plastics off
Great!
I tried this on my Epson ET - 2800 which wasn't printing magenta or cyan. Now it is barely printing yellow and black is right out. Went to Settings, ran the nozzle scrub program (1/9 under settings). It started to improve after 2-3 rounds. Magenta worked, if not black. Went to a 110 weight piece of paper that would press a little more against the nozzles and it is up to 75% working.
nozzle scrub program? I'm in settings, and i don't have that option on the printer.
Do I have to remove all the old ink inside the tank wells or just clean the heads
Thanks so much. This helped
Glad it helped!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! This worked!!!!!
You're welcome!
Thank you, I fixed my printer!! :D
Glad it helped!
My test prints are good, the purge print is perfect. But when I print a picture I get white lines . I'm at a loss...can you help
Could you please link me to a tutorial on how to get my ET-M3170 to print. I can't seem to find anything on-point online. It is currently printing blank pages.
I'm thinking that placing a plastic sheet under the paper towel would keep the fluid from spreading.

Yeah I’m gonna need a close up vid of how to open the lid of the et-2800. Please & Thank you 😂😂

I have an et2710. It prints magenta, I test print revealed no yellow printing, head clean didn't fix it so have bought a cleaning kit.
One question.
The headcis parked on the right hand side of the printer and appears to be locked in position, how do you get the head to the mid position?
Print a print quality test and unplug the printer while it is printing.
Awesome impressive superb
Yes!
I can't get my 2800 to do a power cleaning. I press the buttons simultaneously but it never goes to that screen.
I used your video here to know how to clean and unclog my epson et-4800. I cleaned out tubes, dampers, and print nozzles. I was able to get all colors working again *except* for the black. Anyone have any idea what to do further? Essentially if I can’t get all 4 colors working it’s useless for my sublimation projects. Thank you again for helping me try!
do another cleaning on the black nozzle, try warming up the solution
Hi, last time I tried to do that. I broke my other printer so I have to get a new one, but it’s still giving me the same issue for some reason the cayman blue is the only one that gets messed up even in my other one is any other way that you can clean up without going through all this I bought my printer two months ago and it’s already gave me the same issue as my old one, and the other one only had it for five months
Thanks!
thank you!
why do i need to be a rocket scientist to use my printer
I know right 😬
Hey great video!
I actually got a printer cleaning solution for my EPSON L3110. Got a question. Do I really need to heat up this solution to use it? Can I not just use it as is? And for heating, will microwaving to warm up for like 10 seconds or so work or will microwaving might affect the molecules of the solution?
Hi, if you feel that the unarmed solution is not breaking the blockage, you may need to warm it up. I highly advise you do not microwave the solution instead warm up a pan with hot water and slowly warm up the solution that way warming fluid up in the microwave is not safe.
Thank you for the video, but unfortunately my printer still won’t print black. What should I do next. Thank you for advice
Do another cleaning at this time warm-up the solution
Is there advice on how to reconnect the fragile white scanner cords after they have detached? My printer is now unable to function, because the scanner (which I don't use at all) is now disconnected.
This video helped me so much! Fantastic video. You explained everything really well and I was able to follow along with you. I am not technical and this helped me a lot! The only thing I wasn't able to do was get my printer top to come out so I could prop it up, but my hands were small enough to go in and do it anyways without unhinging it. How do I send you some money? Thanks again! Definitely subscribing to your channel!
Glad it helped! You can send a super thanks donation. It is the heart icon with the dollar sign in the middle, I appreciate it!
This was a really good video! It helped me out a lot! Idk if you still look at comments but I think I made a mistake and didn't unlock the print head before opening everything up. I ended up just pushing the block out of the way, but now I can't get it back in place. Will this damage the printer if I turn it back on without locking it place? Is there a way to get it back in?
All you can do is attempt to power on and see if it goes back in place there's really no other way.
@@BestPrinters it seems to have gone back in place and is functioning normally! Thank you!
We used the printhead cleaning solution, and it worked really well. It was printing black again, which was our issue. However, a day later it slower started to fade until it wasn't working again. We used the solution again, following the instructions listed in this video. Now, we are getting no black. Any thoughts on what could be happening here? We have done nozzle head checks, cleanings, etc. over and over again.
So once you see that the cleaning has worked with the kit one time for the most part, you really don't need to use it again. Well you can do now is do deep cleanings, and once you start to print normally and a regular basis, you can pull away from doing those, but you'll have to do several deep cleanings and maybe even another power cleaning in this process.
My printer has been down for a week, I could really use your help . Please and Thank you. How do you reset waste ink counter?
turn off the printer for 24 hours and then power back on
Thank you 🇭🇹🇺🇸
You are welcome!
On my 2750, Black and Magenta work. When I pulled out all 4 of the cartridges as you showed, it looks like Yellow and Cyan do not have ink in the cart. Is this typical or is there another issue that needs to be addressed?
U have to connect hose and pull
I have the Epson 2800. But we used the hippo ink. Do I need to stay with the same brand or would it hurt to go back to the ink that’s made for Epson printer.
I would stay with the same brand.
My printer is only printing black ink. Got the top off and was ready to follow your steps to clean the print head and when I took the cartridges out I noticed that they were all empty- except the black. My tanks are currently about 80% full. Could my issue be the clog is in the lines? Will this print head cleaning work?
With your specific scenario, it seems like the lines may be clogged. That is the lines that go to the printhead so in this case, what you want to do is run a power cleaning, and that should push the ink through those lines into the printhead. so this cleaning may and may not help try doing the power cleaning first and if it solves the problem and you noticed that there's ink back in those cartridges then you're good if the problem persist you may wanna continue on with this cleaning.
could I use IPA to clean the head, sir?
The problem with inkjet printers has never really been the ink, it’s always been the print heads, they never really get clean and a print head cost almost as much as the printer if you get it from Epson.
I accidentally disconnected the measuring tape, after reconnecting it, the printer gave me the paper jam error.
Any advice?
Thanks
Try reconnecting it, also make sure you didnt loosen any cables.
Is the fix just for this printer or all epson eco tank printers? I need help with my epson eco tank 16600 not printing black solidly.
Hi there, the Epson EcoTank 16,600 will have the same process of repair as the Epson 15,000 here is that video ua-cam.com/video/PnnhYeSYRgU/v-deo.htmlsi=k_tXbDjFhcvuQERO
Hi ok I did the printhead cleaning solution and was trying to put more ink in my printer but the ink is not going into the part where the ink goes, what can I do to fix that. And do you have a video on that. Thank for your help
Hi Rita, I most likely do have a video of how to install the ink on the Epson Eco tank 2800. If you click on my channel icon and go to my channel page, then click on videos there should be a search bar where you're able to search up videos. It may be that you just need to do a upward and downward motion while installing the ink bottle and that would free up the ink so that it's able to flow into the ink tanks. If you require any additional help, please create a new comment so that I am notified.
is this the best way to flush out all the old ink as well and put different ink inside?
This is a partial flush, a total flush would have to start from the ink tanks.
What if I have dried ink in the cartridges? How do I flush those?
I tried all of this and now I have an E-02 error. I see a very thin white ribbon toward left rear area that appears to have pulled loose but I cannot see where it came out of. Anyone know? I cant proceed. The error wont let me even after powering down and unplugging.
What if it spilled ink onto bottom tray under the print head.that white strip looks multi colored. Will it still be ok?
After it dries it will be ok.
Hi! I have the 2850 that keeps leaving black ink behind causing smudges, any idea how to get rid of this?
This cleaning may help, also cleaning the ink waste pad will help.
@@BestPrinterswhere’s the ink pad thingy and how do I find it and clean it. Pretty please 🙏🏻 🍒🍰🧁
What is the purpose of waiting the 12 hours after doing the power cleaning procedure, and what does this actually accomplish?
I would say to actually wait 24 hours. The purpose and waiting this period of time is to ensure that any cleaner that may have gotten on or around the electrical components within the printhead have totally dried before you power back on you back on prematurely, you can cause a short circuit and fry the printer.
Any other tips? I flushed the Cyan 3x already using 2 different solution. Still white lines for Cyan...
Aside from the cleaning kit, you will also need to use the power cleaning function on your printer. That is what is going to bring back the ink into your printhead.
Thanks for the video! However I must have pulled up to hard because the top came off completely. and the smaller white ribbon came unattached, so I have no clue where to reattach it. I get a -02 error scan code. If possible a close up shot of the ribbons would help me to put it back thank you.
I found a video that showed where to plug the ribbons back in. Thank goodness it is working great again.

My Epson EcoTank 2800 notes a jammed error and I've tried everything there is no jam. The screen will not allow me to move beyond the error jam message to do anything with it. Can you offer any suggestions
These types of codes are usually not fixable unless you want to get a technician involved. In that case it might be a little expensive and not worth it at the end of the day. It may be time to buy a new printer.
My brand new one is doing that.
You said use warm water if the solution won't go through. What causes the solution not to go through at room temperature?
A dried ink clog will need warmed up solution to break the clog.
Warm cleaning solution, not water
Is there a trick to actually seeing the ink levels in the fron 4 windows. Ive never been able to see ink levels thru them??
I've heard of this issue issue. I'm really not sure of a solution.
This printer has a head cleaning option feature (under the maintenance menu) that takes about 3 minutes to run. Does that really do anything?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no
Would this work on an epson 2400? I’ve searched through your videos and don’t seem to find one for a 2400. Also how would you recommend fixing those cables that you said could get disconnected? Mine disconnected and I don’t want to touch it anymore without knowing how to properly fix it. Id really appreciate your help. Thank you.
Yes it will work with an et 2400, also there is a way to reconnect the cables. "Get an assistant to hold the top hinged-and-ready to close at about a 45 degree angle. Then get a bright little flashlight to look in from the back corner under the top, and find the connecters for the cables on the board, and wiggle them back in. It was not easy, but it can be done. If you have "fat fingers", you may want to enlist someone with smaller hands."

that is normal. You will need to run a power cleaning after using the cleaning kit.
I cannot get ink to go into the printer. Is there a good way to clean or unclog the area where I actually fill the ink?
The power cleaning function should help you get ink back into the system
I did this and the print test came out perfect, I then tried to print a picture and the printer is now dead and will not turn on at all.
Did you wait 24 hours before trying to print?

How do you empty ink and refill the ink do you have another video to show this process?
There is no need to empty the old in the only place that the old thing needs to be flushed from is the printhead. Which is why we're doing the cleaning. Simply add new ink and it will mix with the pre-existing ink and when you go to do a power cleaning, that mixture of ink is going to be pushed back into the system, and you should be printing normally again.
Great thank you so much for responding!!! And that makes total sense cause that’s what I was thinking but I didn’t want to assume or break my printer because Epson doesn’t make it easy at all for you to empty the reservoir. And then you break it and boom gotta go buy a new one. Your video is great I just hope it all works for me! Printers are not my best friend!

Yes!
Can I hit it with some compressed air to speed up that dry time?
That might spread the fluid to other components, just be careful.

Can u help me with new 2800 keeps saying paper jam or wrong paper.
The paper jam. I'm not not sure how to help you but for the wrong paper, you can go into the settings of the printer and make sure that the right type of paper is selected.
My Epson ET 2803 keeps stopping at about 30% and giving a W01 paper jam error. After a few times, it will say foreign material error. There is not foreign material. I have cleaned the rollers and updated drivers. Have you had any issues with this or other suggestions for fixing.? Epson won't help because warranty ran out a week before issue started.Teacher in desperate need of a working printer.
Same thing just happened to me and my warranty is up next month. I'm so disappointed. I thought I was upgrading but my cannon printer was a workhorse and I should have kept it.
Hey Printer Guy, let me tell you about my ET-2803. It paper jammed, and I got it all out the front, nothing from the back. I say I got it all, and with the help of the comment below, I got the lid up and can see no remaining paper anywhere. When I tell it that it's cleared and push the diamond button "complete", the print head slams to the left, slams to the right, and comes back to rest left of center. I mean SLAMS. Then it says it's still jammed. I don't know how it determines it has a jam in the first place, or if there's a sensor somewhere that's still got a small shred in front of it. I can plainly see the mechanism it uses to determine if it's out of paper, but I'm not able to see a cause for my issue. Can you offer me any insight? Thank you.
Paper jams can be complicated. It would be worth consulting a local technician. They may be able to help you out.
Hey man what happens if I power on before 24 hours
You are taking a risk, 50/50 either it will damage or wont.
Hi, do you have the dimension of the silicone tube that you attached to the printer head nozzle?
Roughly 2 inches
Hey Brandon, I hope you can help. I bought a new Epson ET-2803 that has only been used to make tattoo stencils with with Electrum Eco Stencils Ink for Epson Eco Tank Printers in all 4 tanks. Apparently, I found out the hard way that I wasn't printing enough stencils with this printer because all of the heads clogged over time. Since I only use a medical grade Methyl Violet-Based Stencil Ink, I'm not sure if the liquid head cleaning solution would be toxic. I do however clean up any spilled stencil ink with isopropyl alcohol. So I guess my question for you is since I cant use a standard printer cleaning kit, I hope you knew what size hose is on the syringe in the kit so that I can try to clean my printer with alcohol? I want to thank you in advance for any assistance that you can give me. 🙏 Poppy
Hi Poppy, I believe a standard smaller sized tube should work. Sorry the sizes aren’t coming to mind right now.
any information on the ET-4800?
It is a similar process.
I did the cleaning. Wondering why you have to wait 24 hours. I did not and still have lines. Is that why you have to wait? Can it be done again a couple of days later? Thank you 🙏
You have to wait 24 hours to make sure that the fluid is totally dried and that there's no chance of damage happening to the printer. It has nothing to do with the cleaning itself necessarily what you can do is you can do another cleaning and if you feel comfortable with a 6 to 12 hour period and you feel that it'll be totally dry by then after one cleaning you can then do another cleaning after that also make sure to run a power cleaning after you do the manual cleaning with the cleaning kit.
Ok great thank you so much for the great video and answer 👍😊
i switch it to a sublimation ink from regular ink and now it is not printing should i purchase a new printer.
I think you are only supposed to convert brand new printers.
can i use this cleaning solution to unclog sublimation ink?

I can’t even get past the first step. The black thing that I need to lift out/detach from my printer won’t budge and I’m afraid I’ll break it. I can’t see a thing in there to help me

Yeah! It's too much of a headache, I'd rather buy toner or cartridges change and keep pushing. You have to buy and change pads, it's too much. Was not told all this before purchasing
Tell me about it
@@BestPrinters Buy reset key after changing ink pads, everybody making videos for themselves after watching one person make one they turn around and copy adding their own content/format to the video not fully explaining that after purchasing the Epson ET-2800 printer believing you'll be saving $ on the ink, of which you will not. You buy ink, you buy over priced rubbing alcohol to clean the head, then you buy and replace the inkpad which then causes the printer to stop working unless you buy the reset key to get it to work again.
