Make a 15 Drawer Workshop Cabinet - Forme Industrious

- (Sorry had to re-upload) Welcome back. I want to organise my workshop space better so why not have a better organised tool and miscellaneous "things" storage area. So I made this cabinet. With videoing it took me 2 weeks to make. I counted all the pieces I made for the project. They came to 197 so it's not a quick job. Everything bar the hardware is fabricated.
I chose the colour when I was in a brave mood.
I just need now to rearrange my workshop to fit this in :)

I bought this for my friend for his birthday as we just moved into a new house and he finally has room for a workshop. The bench was very easy to set up ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh They center support is a little difficult to snap in and out of place at first but at least then we know the bench is secure. It was a pleasant surprise when we saw it came with clamps. I apparently missed that in the description. My friend loves the versatility of the bench. Great starter bench for his workshop and easily transportable all over our property. I wish the bench was a little taller but the other features of the bench more than make up for that.
Thanks for the advice!

I absolutely love the blending of metal work & woodworking, most of the time you get one or the other. We need more of this! Well done sir.....
Huge thanks James - Much appreciated!
I'm first going to admit that I fast forward to see the end result then back to the build. What beautiful work. You are an incredible craftsman. I really enjoyed this video, thank you for sharing, Rodney
Thank you Rodney, I appreciate you letting me know!
O
Nothing incredible about it. Anyone with thousands of dollars worth of machines that do all the for them is not a craftsman.
I never tire watching your videos Scott, always a great tutorial and end result. I really like your industrial retro style. Let’s people see how much work is actually put in by hand. Mass produced is not always the best, quicker but not better. Your projects will certainly stand up to the test of time! Fantastic as usual!
Thank you Frank! The plan is to make a piece that will last several lifetimes, and for it to be admired if possible.
I just love functional peaces of art like you're making, keep it up Scott.
Thank you David - it's a joy!
Wow what a beast. This thing is gonna last you a lifetime and then some. I'm always impressed with how aesthetic even your shop furniture turns out
Thanks Phil! Oh and huge congrats for your 100k! Awesome!
Scott Turner Hi, what's the wall you're using on the square tubing? And do you have a video on how you made your bender? That was a very interesting little tool, I'd love to learn more. Thanks.
2 mm wall. Which bender? I have one for the Sheet Metal bender but not the rod bender.
Thanks for the reply! Yes, i meant the rod & solid stock bender.
Haha I wish man. I think you got me mistaken with someone ;)
Omg, the result is so beautiful. Absolutely professional work!
Big respect! I absolutely love the rebar handles!
Excellent work! I really dig that color, too!
Cheers Mark!
What a beauty... The drawer handles just killed me !
Agree! , wanted to post simular comment about excellent drawer handles.
Very methodical and a lot of patience, great craftsmanship!!
That is one good looking roll around tool box, storage box. What ever you call it. It is nice, great craftsmanship. 👍😎
Many thanks!!
Your shop furniture is nicer than my formal living room furniture. Job extremely well done Scott!
Shops need the love too - many thanks Phil, and all the best!
What a beautiful peice of equipment! Amazing work!Great job!!!
What truly amazing, insightful, detailed and useful things you make! You have inspired and educated me on how to produce something to be cherished and passed down from generation to generation. Thank you for sharing! 🏆 You are truly master class in your creations.
Huge thanks Julie. My goal is to make useful pieces that last over the years and can be appreciated. Thanks for the feedback and all the best.
Wow Scott you weren't kidding on this build, its a big one! I love the cnc logo on the side panels! Well done mate !
Cheers Doug! Thanks and all the best - love your work!
I love everything about this bench, the drawers, the color, the drawer handles are awesome. this thing is built like a tank, and if the top gets damaged as they sometimes do, it will be easy to replace. great job mate. really practical use of both space and usability. and attractive to boot.
Much appreciated! Thanks for your comment!
Ive never seen rebar used for that nice job!
Thanks for your videos Scott. I watched a few of these and decided to have a go and just finished building a desk for my son. It's so inspiring to see you making these incredible pieces from an Aussie shed, thanks mate.
My pleasure - really glad you made the desk! Cheers!
Your work is just amazing! You have combined woodworking and welding, which I think is making the project special! Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much!
Your projects are so well thought out, and ingenious. I love the whole project, especially the handles. Keep the videos coming!
Thank you! Another video being edited right now.
Beautiful, it's a work of art! Great job sir
i really enjoy to see you building things will last forever, thanks for sharing and congratulations from Argentina for the precious and simple furnitures you made
My Pleasure! Thank you!!
I love the way the ply turned out with the stain and varnish- I guess I’ve just found the look for my next project!
Thanks Sam. I think the ply turned out nice with the stain. Cheers!
Holy crap! At the risk of stating the obvious, You!!! are an amazing craftsman.
Truly incredible!!
Very kind - Thank you!
Sweet Piece mate! love the drawer pulls. I will steel that for a future project. Great build, pleasure to watch you work.
Thank you and my pleasure!
Watched this video several times. Still obsessed with this thing. I think it is just the coolest best looking tool cabinet out there!!
Huge thanks Christopher! The cabinet is going strong still.
Just WOW! Absolutely stunning. Top job. Best wishes from South Wales, UK. 👍🏻👊🏻
Like the squaring by the diagonals - many builders either forget that important check, or leave it out.
Rather like the juxtaposition of the paint and staining against the more industrial handles :-)
I wouldn't use wooden drawers for heavier, or oily, tools but for anything else they definitely have advantages, like easily gluing in dividers and adding lift-out inserts and compartments :-)
For the next one, I would suggest perhaps welding in some of the rebar across the end recesses so tools can either be hung directly, or make up some "S"or "P" hooks to sit on the rods. Maybe a power outlet at one end - I use some weather resistant outlets, that have a lift up flap, in the garage as they prevent dust and other crap getting into the sockets?
I assume the height is the same as your other portable workbench, so you can sit things level across both?
Oh, and you talk funny (I'm in Auckland) ;-)
Thanks for the feedback Gordo. I talk funny! I lived in Christchurch for 14 months (Didn't I cop some crap!) back when the Aussies last won the world cup Rugby (Haven't won a game since mind you). Good times :)
Scott, great project. I like the industrial look of the exposed flanges for mounting the plywood panels. If you wanted a couple more inches of drawer length, the flanges could be mounted toward the outside edge of the square tubing, and the panel mounted outside the flange as well. The handles are great!
When I saw the orange paint I thought wow different but in the end effective and it really works well great job Scott and like Big Ben said it stays built keep it up, YT
Thank you! It sure stands out and looks right I think. Cheers!
Exelente trabajo te felicito y muchas gracias por compartir tú conocimiento con toda tu audiencia, saludos y bendiciones desde México.
Fantastic job. I agree with a few of the others here- I might have used something like butcher block for the top, but I guess it depends on what you’ll be doing on the plywood top you have. You combined my favorite color- orange- with a great stain color and even better workmanship. I’m inspired. Thank you for sharing this.
Many thanks Joshua!
МУЖИК!!!
Приятно смотреть на качественную работу, спасибо!
Спасибо за отличный комментарий!
Great build. Love the rebar handles
Hey Derek - thank you Brother!
No problem Bob
Damn it, I re name you, let's see Matt. Derek is the comment above. Forgive my crosseyedness.
I have been called far worse
Badger Workshop same!
Beautiful job Scott, great industrial look, and love the cnc tongue n groove work on the drawers and logos. Hope to see more of your work.
Thank you!
Another Great build I have been inspired to take the leap of working with metal wood, machine work and just an all around craftsman. You go my friend... Doc From Daytona Beach FL.
Thanks Doc! Yes they are all great materials and there to be enjoyed and made useful. All the best Doc!
This is seriously some next level fabrication, and you made it all look so easy! Excellent work buddy the end product is beautiful!
Truly glad you like it and thanks so much for your comment! Really appreciated!
When you build something, it stays built... 👍
That's the plan! Enough of the cheap junk crap. Thank you!
How much did materials cost
John Carter I would like to know too +Scott Turner
Bela bancada ótimo trabalho 👍👏👏
I must say once you have the right tools and equipment you can build anything. Great job bro
Thanks Derrick. Yes tools help but you also need to have a vision and desire.
Просто, качественно, оригинально! И главное функционально! Молодец! Попробую себе что-то похожее сделать!
Большое спасибо за ваш замечательный комментарий!
Pure epic mate!
Thank you Dallan!
I got a kick out of the wheels being welded on to the post feet. I was most curious as to the insert that may have been used or the type of wheel connection, and BAM! It just got man-welded. That cabinet looked better than any I'd ever seen on the market. Really nice job on its build and its beauty.
Dang that came out sweet, I don't remember ever seeing a nicer cabinet! Amazing skills you have sir.
One thing's for sure, that's going to hold up well in your weather/shop environment! :-) Great build as always Scott! Keep up the great work!
Thank you Bill! Yes, I think this cabinet will be around for a very long time.
Love your work Scott! Top shelf mate. I particularly like your attention to detail and doing things properly.
Really appreciated Steve! Thankyou!
Ficou excelente, bom trabalho 👏👏👏
I am a cabinet maker and love working with wood but I have to say mate that your mastery of metal is simply stunning, I have been looking for a design for a long thin assembly table for my cabinet shop and thanks to you I have gained inspiration from your world class roller cabinet, thankyou for such a wonderful and inspiring video, kindest regards Louie Ulster Workshops UK
Huge thanks Louie!
Отличная работа! Стол супер!!! Всех благ и новых проектов!
Подписка!
Круто, спасибо за добрые слова и подписку!
I like it, it’s made professionally, but too much work involved for one man project. Great job.
Thank you! It was all worth it :)
Wasn't sure how I felt about your choices until the final result. I have been a journeyman machinist/millwright for 25 years and I don't impress easily. The result speaks for itself. Beautiful.
Thankyou! I'm very happy to have it in my shed. It's used every day. All the best
Awesome video! Love it. Great job formatting and building the cabinet.
so nice to watch someone build who has real fabrication skills maybe you've done fab work for a living btw hope you know not everyone here in US is crazy we love the Ausies thanks Scott
Thanks Larry. Fabrication has been a hobby until the last year. Some of the most wonderful people I've met are from the US. In fact there are wonderful people all over the globe, though crazy people are every where also I suppose. All the best.
Actually, Scott has a kiwi accent, although I admit to having something of a cold at the moment
Идея окантовки столешницы из полосы, ручки из арматуры смотрятся креативно и красиво! Стол выглядит обалденно и монументально. Отличный стол, смотрел с интересом.
Спасибо за отличный комментарий! Всего наилучшего!
Stumbled across your video here, absolutely great work. True Craftsman 💪🏼 I'm jealous of how easy you make the welding look.
it's easier than the wood work haha it's the wood work i'd struggle with
wow that color just jumps out at you ,phenomenal build ,that is a family heirloom
Yes it does stand out a bit - Thank you!
OMG 😮
Verdadeiramente uma obra de arte.
Thank you!
Com certeza, ficou perfeito
Now that is amazing work!!
Thank you Aaron!
Great design, unbelievable craftsmanship, and abundant artistic flair. Nice work.
Really appreciated Tom - Thank you!
One of my favorite channels. He has inspired me to build a floating bathroom vanity
Thank you Keith!!
beautiful, great work!
Thank you!
Fantastic build. $7,000 cabinet to chuck tools and consumables in! Why not? Good on you. I was shocked by the orange when you started painting but it works really well so well I forgot how I admired the colour combination in the opening scene.
I felt exactly the same way on the orange color. I almost went back from the middle to see if I had saw orange. I couldn't believe I missed that it was orange. It turned out to be a very attractive combination. I wish I had that vision for color.
Un bel atelier bien équipé !
Et un homme avec des doigts en or !!!! Bravo !
.
A nice workshop well equipped!
And a man with gold fingers !!!! Bravo!
Thank you Georges! Yes, I love my workshop.
Very satisfying to see someone very good at there trade. Impressive build for sure!
its cool to see another Aussie in the UA-cam space!
Thanks Kit! Just chugging away :)
I need to do for me something like that... Beautifull work...
Thank you!! Yes get making!

Excellent work sir! You're a true master of your craft.
I love the metal frame and wood drawer concept.
I'd definitely pay more than the big brand store prices due too not only the master craftsmanship but the quality materials used as well.
Keep it up! You've inspired me to get my wood shop more organized.
Thank you Mike for the great feedback and encouragement! All the best!
Superb craftsmanship. Would love to see in it when it's laid out with tools, etc. Thanks for the video. Inspirational!
Thanks, glad you like it - cheers!
Very good work👍👍👍
Thank you!
Well that just upgraded all my plans!
Haha Thanks!
Really nice work to see raw materials turned into this tool/storage cart. Love the details and welding...
Thanks Craig!
Que perfeição! Sou do Brasil ( Goiânia ).
Very nice cabinet! Great build! I’m definitely going to borrow that handle idea, absolutely love them! The only thing I wasn’t in love with, is screwing the top down from the top, I would rather you came up from the bottom with some tabs or something.
I knew I'd get busted for that top :) Thanks Tom!
yeah, i'm stealing the handle idea as well.. looks like you can grab them with oily / greasy hands no problem
I also like this build. I'm going to take this design myself. But I'm going to bust you for the Plywood top. Its needs to be Solid and more robust. Cheers
Timoty Sargent .. I don't know, plywood is pretty robust when its that thick, however once it's really beaten up will be easy to replace ( I suppose as would any wooden top )
Yep oilier and greasier the better.
Well done! Looks awesome!
Thank you!
I am really impressed with that project. Well designed, well built, super sturdy, excellent blend of wood and steel together, color and stain combinations really make it pop. Well done sir.
Thank you so much!
Absolutely amazing job ❤️
I'm speechless, your craft skills are impressive and lovely taste to
Thank you Jhonny!
My son thinks this project was awesome!! And thinks you should paint more things orange.. (his favorite color) keep up the great work!!!
Thank you Son for me - and thank you too!
ótimo trabalho , um serviço simétrico parabéns.
Muito apreciado Alex!
Very Nice job.
Fantastic.
God bless you.
Beautiful work from a true craftsman!
Awesome build!
Thanks Jared!
Very good and beautiful table)👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much.
Excelente, parabéns pelo trabalho 👏
Incredible build. You Sir are an amazing craftsman. Well done!
Thank you!!
Scott Turner 🤗
Um trabalho magnífico!
Pensei a mesma coisa.
@@inkmania se fosse só a máquina de solda que precisasse , até eu ia fazer , e muita ferramenta , e detalhe aqui é muito caro infelizmente 😭
Now you also know where your tools are after a nuclear apocalypse 😉 I am enjoying how over engineered this is - great job 💪
Wow, that was impressive. Great idea for the drawer handles! I will have to try that in wood.
Thanks John. The Rebar handles work well with the theme of the build I think.
Excellent design, wonderful craftsmanship and one sexy cabinet. Job well done!!
Huge thanks Dave!
And thy name shall henceforth be... Saint Scott, the patron saint of patience whilst painstakingly staining drawer edges. What a sexy addition to the shop man. And let's be honest, no one minds a longer Forme Industrious video.. can I get an amen people?!
Wayward Woodworker I thought the EXACT same thing when I saw him staining the edges 🤣
Wayward Woodworker oh. And amen!
Huge thanks!!!!!
Very good job. Good luck. From Belarus.
Thank you!
Impresionado de l calidad del trabajo , excelente , felicidades
It's a great looking bench, very well made and impressive. I watch a lot of these type of videos and always seems to be someone who has the right tools, machinery and kit to do it in the first place....sadly we don't all have that kind of access to the same things.
Thanks Rowland! Yes tools are great no doubt about it, but the best tool is your will to do the best you can with what you have. This can be made with a cheap welder, an angle grinder, a saw, drill and some chisels. But yes, pretty impossible without the minimum.
Those handles really did it.
Thanks Boris!
Круто получилось! Мастерская с огромными возможностями.
Спасибо вам большое!
@SintaoBG можешь сказать, что это за профессия? Это случайно не слесарь?
Fantastic job, love the custom handles. You do very nice work.
Thank you Douglas!
Mastery! - loved watching this
Really nice build. I'm not a welder but I know a great weld when I see one, and man those are nice welds! My only complaint is the top being screwed down rather than being attached from the bottom. They aren't super attractive and the countersunk holes are just going to collect stuff all the time. But that's just a nit pick and I would give you 99/100!
Busted! Thank you!!
Very nice mate 👍
Thank you!
Absolutely amazing and beautiful piece of workmanship!!
Thank you Darol!
WOW!! Outstanding work.. Would love to have one in my shop. And I love the Orange color too!!!
Great - thank you!
I'm new to your Chanel - at first I thought it was a bit indulgent to make such a nice workshop bench lol, but I see now that you are making a piece of art which is very cool.
My hardware cabinet will be much more indulgent when I do that. Well, I like the workshop equipment that looks vintage, back in the day when style was a big part of design requirements. It's a passion. Thanks Pete!
Practice makes perfect, never indulgence. I like his work, it's worth my time to watch his videos a few times each.
