  • This video show the making of this 42 Drawer storage Cabinet. The Cabinet frame is made from Steel and the carcus consists of two sections, with the upper being 30 Drawers and the lower being 12 larger drawers. The cabinets are constructed out of 9mm Hoop Pine Plywood with the drawer faces and trims made from the same New Guinea Rosewood.
I did have quite a bit of trouble withe the Plywood as it twisted and "cupped" making the joinery difficult.
I finished the timber with Pure Tung Oil and Wood Butter which is Tung Oil and Bee's Wax with a citrus blend for extra nice aroma.
The Drawer Knobs I made from reclaimed Brass Rod.
Making the Drawers. with the finger (Box Joints was very time consuming. I should. buy a Dado Blade set for my saw as the 2.7mm blade creates too much work and many cuts to create the joint.
Special Thanks MASSO CNC Controllers for the video Sponsorship.
Also I'd like to thank Joel Dubbeld and Aden Tranter from Studio Dubbeld for the New Guinea Rosewood and for the work in ripping the boards, the Tung Oil and Wood Butter.
I will use this cabinet for the dust free storage hardware and consumables in my workshop.
I really hope you enjoyed the video. It is certainly the longest video, and also the most demanding build I have published to date. I am certain this piece will be around for many years.

I've been avoiding watching this - wondered why they were recommending apartments to me when I left my tiny shoebox in Japan behind years ago. Well I finally clicked the link and I thought I was on the Living Big in a Tiny House channel for a bit but then I realised it was *you* Scott Turner - well it must be Grand Designs then. But seriously - you could rent those 42 rooms out in Tokyo for like - a thousand bucks a month. Well that's my comment - and now for an American style comment - you sir, are a master craftsman. Or a millennial Australian comment - That was awesome, r u going 2 sell it? 🥓👍 (Love it man - watched on day 1 - still subbed!)

haha now, that is funny. whats also funny is that here in America... people want to downsize to a shoebox on wheels. I like my running water, air conditioning, not having to climb down a treehouse ladder at 4 am to take a piss... I'm a simple man. Just, not THAT simple.

i love the mix of timber and metal. Forme Industrious is a very apt name. Its the sort of furniture I would buy and be extremely proud of. Luckily I am not the sort of homemaker that likes to shift furniture around for decorative purposes. I love the castor wheels too. So 18th century Steampunk kind of feel.

Hi Rob, time will tell I guess with the Rosewood. I did have one part that chipped on my that I had to fix by blending the chip out. It was only small. Well, my memory is not bad for some things.....I you ask my wife, well she would laugh. I have a system, a row for screws, a row for bolts (washers and nuts etc), a row for other fasteners. Electrical, tapes, sanding etc and the rest is a free for all :) Cheers Rob

Nice work! that thing looks like it was a beast to make. Spotted the Yamaha in the back ground.... Love the dirt bikes myself and have been riding a long time.

Thanks Danny! Yes a WR250R - nice machine. I need to ride more. I've been on the bikes since 13 years. They are part of the DNA I think.
