Since you Pre-order the FX30, Any idea when you will receive it. I am trying to figure out if I should Pre-order or wait until it is available.
B and h says October 24th for my estimated delivery date - we’ll see!
There seems to be a £600 difference between the FX30 and the A74 in America. But here in the UK it can be as low as £60 difference. The main reason is the A74 is in stock with grey importers. So its a bit of a difficult decision to buy a FX30 over here in the UK.
I'm not really familiar with the difference of grey importers. I havent really encountered that in the US (at least where I live). Could you elaborate more on that? Thats quite the price difference!
I'm getting it because, while I shoot events my A7Siii lives on my gimbal with the GM 35 but the GM just focuses too fast for it to be reliable at 1.4 so I keep it at 1.8 or above. I will just replace that with the fx30 and a sigma 20 or 24 and my gimbal camera will be basically the same. And I will be able to use the A7SIII in better ways. I feel like I am getting another a7SIII for $1800.
Same here, with some wider lenses these cameras should be great together. Can't wait to get mine in and run some tests.

Nice explanation of why you decided to pre-order. I have a pre-order in as well, but am second guessing myself. My only camera right now is the A7iv and I am getting tired of switching from stills to video. I'm thinking about a second camera that I can dedicate to just video. On the surface, the FX30 seems like the perfect solution. But since I shoot mostly wide angle scenes, I'd have to go out and buy some APS-C lenses. Adding in that cost, it's less attractive AND I'd be stuck lugging around 2 sets of lenses - some for APS-C and others FF. I might just bite the bullet and go for the FX3. No new lenses needed and I can sell the XLR handle if I don't use it. Plus, it seems like the FX3 will retain at least 50% of it's value over the next several years because the FX4 will likely be over $4k. Any thoughts on my situation? Thx!
Definitely have to think about glass when taking into consideration APS-C vs full frame. How wide do you have to shoot? You can use FF lenses on APSC bodies, so if you mostly shoot around 24mm, a 17-28 will almost get you 24mm. And you can use that lens on your full frame cameras as well. Thats my plan at least!
@@keith-knittel I actually went out and bought the FX3 a few days ago 🤣. I really like the flexibility that FF gives me to shoot in low light and I didn't want to run out and get a whole bunch of new lenses. I've been testing it out over the past few days - it's insanely good.
I will buy the FX30. I will use it as a B camera 1.for the price 2.will use for small budget video, 3. or second person camera ,4 b-roll shoots. and I believe its amazing camera.

I preordered mine and it’s in “back order” I thought pre order meant not having to wait for back orders
