@@gregwjohnson1986 Maynard has a form of epilepsy, which is the reason why. It also helps people be in the moment, but the main thing is that the flash was giving him mini-seizures on stage afaik.
Decades and centuries from now, people will likely still look back at this era (last ~50 years) and remember certain bands/musicians as the Beethoven's and Mozart's of our time. I am SO glad you beautiful, young people took the time to go see these guys while you had the chance. Some day, you may be able to tell your grand kids you saw that live.
Nice! I just saw them live a few weeks ago in Atlanta. They played so many good songs. FLOOD was a huge bonus for me. It looks like they played it for you too, and Rosetta Stoned. This was my 6th Tool show but it was the first time I took psychedelics and let me tell you…. 🤯
^ best recording of Tool live in existence. It’s Flood from the Atlanta show. The guy that posted it has the whole concert on his page. He recorded with an actual video recorder and a stand for it to sit on lol Oh and be sure to turn the quality up real high. He recorded it in 4K
So pumped you both got the chance to see them! I attended their Oklahoma City live just after your stop in Dallas! Such an amazing show, and particularly surprised by Danny's Chocolate Chip trip POV camera effects. It truly is a different experience seeing them live, and I think Fear Innoculum in particular, is best experienced live compared to other albums.
I sae them in the 90's during the undertow album with they toured with rage against machine . They were awesome. But daw them recently in Boston and I was brought to tears listening to them. They blew me away
Closest thing I got to a Tool concert experience was a cover band of then called "The Perfect Tool". And what stuck with me the most is that this wasnt a concert wher people did moshing or danced. It was like everybody was in trance. We al just stood still for like an hour and a half. As if we all wher in this shared Acid trip.
I almost went to that show because I live in Tampa, but I have an old friend that lives in Atlanta and she’s loves TOOL too so I went to that show with her instead.
it was pretty sloppy, especially after seeing them so dialed in as MSG the weekend before. MJK was in a (particularly) bad mood and they ironically shat the bed on Rosetta (but watching them recover given the meter was super impressive). A "bad" Tool show is all relative anyways...@@johncarpenter3751
If you're a fan of Justin then the back row against the walls where you want to be. I can relate as I saw them in 2019 at the Staples Center in Los angeles. When Justin's bass kicks in during Invincible it was literally punching holes through my chest and out the back of the concrete walls of the arena. Nothing like tool live! Fucking love it! And ironically I just went and saw them myself last weekend in Ontario california, and once again the 4 Masters nailed it
i saw them for the first time in LA on the first night.. it was like when you don't want to violate Maynard's word during the concert and you put your phone in your pocket, but for weeks after the concert you watch everyone's recordings and thank those who posted the recorded videos on UA-cam :)
Lateralus is such a Mountain of a song. When they dusted the off Rosetta Stoned (another mountain) for this tour they likely rehearsed it for months leading up to playing it live again. I was fortunate to be at the first show and Maynard was hilarious about it
When i went last October, i wished they would play ticks n leaches cuse its so vocally taxing that each year it seems more likily if MJK ever does it again that would be his last as its been a decade already since😮. Surprised u never mentioned the insane lightshow.
Look at Val cheesin with her Tool shirt on. Recently went to my 17th show since 2001. Love your guys content, Spiral Out Keep Going Guess youll just have to go see them again for Laterlus, I didn't get to hear Sober live until my 16th show.
I've seen them 4 times and have only ever seen Maynard's silhouette! One of my favourite moments from the most recent show was Danny busting into Ticks and Leeches with the lights going hell for leather. I think their light show and visuals are top notch; a show that is amazing both audibly and visually almost makes you feel guilty for the privilege!
In all the many times I have seen tool I have been everywhere I have been at the tippy-top row center with stage like as far as you could possibly get. I have been 11th row center on the floor. But the one place that I found is an excellent place to see the show if you can't get floor seats or flirst section seats and you have to get second or third section up nosebleed is all the way to the left of the stage so you're almost like parallel with the stage because then you have a bird eye view of Maynard..and it is awesome! Especially cuz I still count as nosebleed seats and so they're still affordable
I drove 6 hours to see them in OKC on 03 Feb. Experience. Journey. Great choice of words. My daughter (26yo) goes to plenty of concert (metal & country) - her parting words “that was SO DIFFERENT from any show I have ever seen”
I was at the same show!!! Glad y’all got to see them live. Of course the whole show was great as usual but I thought the highlight of the show I thought was chocolate chip trip and Jambi was soooo good. I saw them all 3 legs of the FI tour and each show was killer with each show differing live ups slightly sober, part of me , pushit, right in two were stands from the other shows.
Good for you both welcome to Tool. I can guarantee you will listen to them the rest of your lives. I’m on 32 years and still DAILY it’s playing when I’m driving or in my shop welding
My very first concert was Tool, they came out and opened with Stinkfist, it was frigging awesome, it was around the time that the 10,000 days album came out, and Maynard also did Rosetta Stoned on the megaphone, good memories for sure!
Urban shaman!! I'm so excited to not only get to see the joy you have that we get, showing somebody else tool, but that you finally got to see them live!!! We are a happy little Tool army right now.
I got into them in 2008. I had to wait until 2019 to see them due a 12 year absence from Europe. She gets into them and sees them within weeks? I’ve never been so happily angry!!!! 🤣
No phones for years. Tool fans have mad respect for the band. Maynard stated we've put alot of work into this. Please don't watch it through your phone.
Was at the Fresno show a week after the Dallas show. My favorite song this time around was Rosetta Stoned - not sure if you had even heard the song yet, but it was one I kept missing to see it live. Amazing to see. Pneuma is up there to see live, was my favorite to see live from the last few shows before this one. Also new this tour was putting the go-pro on Danny to give that first person view of his drum solo up on the screen: loved it. Fresno didn't get to record the last song because too many people took out their phones throughout. Then a few days later in LA, Maynard had to stop int he middle of the song to yell at someone to "turn your fucking phone off, dickhead." Probably shining the light in his face.
A great variety of his vocal flavors are available with "Maynard's Dick" from Salival. Even though it's sort of a tongue (or something else) in cheek track and of the earlier/simpler Opiate or Undertow era styles, it still really rocks the riffs and the lyrics are as layered and poetic as anything else and pokes fun (or something else) at the band trope of a sexualized "frontman" and groupies. One of my favorites. Fits in between "Stinkfist" and "Hooker With a Penis" which may form another Tool thematic triplet/trifecta.
If only you could have heard TOOL with old Maynard, when his voice hadn't lost its power yet... I want to be clear: their concerts are still phenomenal... But I saw them for the first time in 2007. .. Maynard's voice had already lost some power, but I heard The Grudge scream live and I had chills for weeks just thinking about it. The last time I saw them was in 2019. However, always exceptional but every single vocal part that required a minimum of power or distortion was overloaded with effects. I'll be back to see them in June and unfortunately I certainly don't expect an improvement given that other years have passed and that in the meantime Maynard also had a rather severe form of Covid that left him with long aftermath... I hope to be pleasantly surprised.
They did The Grudge? Maynard doesn't do the 23 second scream live, does he? Even without it that would be such a good one to see live, it has some heavy drops. I wonder how much farther down the metal path she's willing to go. Tool was my first metal band, though I had no idea they could be called "metal" at the time.
Invincible live is fucking amazing. I've seen it live, in person, 7 times. I've cried several times. this last time, my husband teared up to Descending.
First show back in Oct. I was a ding-dong and unconsciously took out my phone for a part of one song. I knew better. There were signs. Rookie mistake. I listened to Bieber on repeat as penance.
"No cell phones" has been mandatory at all Tool concerts for years.
It's strange now that they actually have a part of the show now where they allow you to film with no flash
@@gregwjohnson1986 Maynard has a form of epilepsy, which is the reason why. It also helps people be in the moment, but the main thing is that the flash was giving him mini-seizures on stage afaik.
@@ABlackRainbow Did not know that so it makes sense. Though people should still put their phones away and enjoy what they paid for. 😀
@@ABlackRainbow I don't think so

Fear Inoculum is Tool’s well aged bottle of wine album Their matured work It’s awesome
Should let her experience No Quarter. I'd listen to the original first before. They opened with that song when I saw them in '16 in STL. So awesome
Hell yes!!!❤ Danny is the best drummer alive❣️

I was there with hubby, took 2 friends for their 1st experience! Oh, how I wish I could hear/see them for the 1st time again ❤
I saw them in Hollywood, Florida in January. Best show I've ever seen!!!

fun fact: Maynard used to stomp his feet so hard every live set he did he had to get both of his hips replaced
