Great reaction. The piano bridge leads into 'The One' which was the finale for this show (so it is an extended version), but these two songs were originally going to be all one song before being separated at some point during the writing process, so they do share some themes - they are not really alike as songs though if that makes sense. That same channel has that version of 'The One' picking it up in the piano bridge where this left off if you want to do another reaction to that as well. Apparently Su-metal's in ear monitor failed just as they started 'Tales of the Destinies' so she did the whole thing relying on listening to the drums for her timing ... you would never know from looking and listening to her. Another song they have played live only once is 'From Dusk Till Dawn' and it is another I think you would appreciate. Not as prog as this but it has an ethereal quality all it's own. There is no pro-shot video, so you could try the audio version from the album - however, there is now a compilation of the best of the fancam videos with the audio from some of them re-balanced and remastered to as near as it could be to how was on the day - this should also be safe for a reaction ua-cam.com/video/y4wo7PHfjp0/v-deo.html
Thanks for the info and links. I'm pretty likely to check out "The One" here on the channel. It's crazy her in-ear monitor failed! That can really suck, speaking from experience 😅 I've also had them fall out of one ear while playing on stage. The tinnitus after that show was a b**** lol
@@KarmaHoudini17 I can imagine - I went to some shows in the 70s and 80s where I couldn't hear for about a week after ... I was young and stupid, but luckily suffered no permanent harm. That version of 'The One' is the full English version and it is dedicated to the fans (also called The One of course) ... and as I said it is extended because of the occasion, being their biggest headline shows to date with 55,000 people there to see just them.
Great reaction! I actually love listening to the album version with great headphones. This song is insane. As a former prog-metal musician myself, it blows my mind that the girls can find a way to dance and sing in a pop style with the shifting time signatures. Major props. And the Kami band...no words needed.
GREAT REACTION! This song was influenced by the band, Dream Theater, since Kobametal, BABYMETAL's producer, is a big Dream Theater fan. Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater said he was "BLOWN away" when he heard this song. This video is of the one and only time they performed it live.🦊🤘
Need to see BabyMetals hardest, most fun song, highlights the band "Catch Me If You Can" live at Black Night Legend Doomsday show 3 Guitar Solos, Drum Solo, Monster Riffs, So Metal, So Cute!!!! Best Dance, Best Kami Band solos intro, Best Riffs!!! Headbanging with a Smile!!!
live BABYMETAL- "Kagerou", proshot fancam 2019 Compilation , with Kami Band west solos ,🤪🐺 super underrated...seldom reacted to... ua-cam.com/video/GTUOyNHpvZY/v-deo.html Thanks, The One 🦊 Vancouver
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🌟 🌟 🌟 Dream Theater's 'Images and Words' is one of BABYMETAL producer Koba's favorite albums. Here's what he said about the development of 'Tales of the Destinies': "Upon opening the World map of Metal music, this song as well really made me stop and consider how are we going to deal with the genre of Progressive Metal represented by such bands that I love such much like Dream Theater. It took about 2 or 3 years to put it into the form that it is in now. As you can imagine, there were a multitude of hardships to overcome to do so. That goes for the performance side of it as well and we had to put it through countless, repeated changes to its arrangement to finally get it where it is now.". I grew up with early Pink Floyd, King Crimson, ELP and experimental electronic music. So I was very ready for this one when it hit. Although it's just like BABYMETAL for this song to be a one off, and to move on to the next thing after they managed to pull it off live.
Thanks for the great review as always. Yes, this is the most progy song in their whole repertoire so far. It's obvious that it's an homage to Dream Theater. The former DT drummer Mike Portnoy liked this epic Japanese prog metal tune and sent them some good words on Twitter.
It's just BABYMETAL doing their stuff :) That piano ending is leading into The ONE which is the second part. Obviously there's no band like them, they're not scared to do whatever they want. I don't know if you've reacted to Rondo of Nightmare yet, that one is pretty proggy as well.
Gotta love how the Babymetal writers basically wrote a Dream Theater song just to show off that not only can they do it, but they can make it suit the band too. Pretty great song
Intellectually this is my favourite BM song and I hope they do more of "prog rock"/"math core". I bought the Tokyo Dome DVD (Delorean) just for this and the bridge into "The One". The rest of the concert is awesome, but this is the only live performance of "Tales of The Destinies" and it's the height of Kobametal's art/artifice/showing off/seeing what he can get away with etc. It's a homage to Dream Theater, "The Dance of Eternity", even the two titles echo one another. This could have been a complete disaster if it wasn't written, played, sung and danced by people as talented as those connected with Babymetal. To so obviously reference another awesome piece of music and yet still be different and brilliant on its own takes a lot of skill...and either guts or hubris.
I'm glad I was on the money when I immediately thought of Dream Theater 😆 I'd love if they did more stuff like this, but maybe most of their audience isn't into it?
@@KarmaHoudini17 Yeah I imagine that the "suits" at Amuse were very worried when BM's producer Koba-metal went down this road. It's not the sort of song that will win BM millions of new fans, but it is very popular with the existing fan base.
Nice to see you appreciate one of my many favourite Babymetal songs :-). While a lot of their music is somewhat progressive, this song does stand out as the most proggy by far. It is of course an explicit Dream Theater tribute, heavily influenced by "The Dance of Eternity". And although I'm a big Dream Theater fan, I must say that I think Babymetal wins this one. As you say you also like power metal, I'm happy to inform you that Babymetal has a lot more to offer in that department. The most obvious recommendation is without a doubt "Road of Resistance", which was cowritten by Li and Totman from DragonForce. The official "live in Japan" performance is a big fan favorite (from the Saitama Super Arena in 2015), and although it's quite popular on reactor channels, it does have a tendency to get blocked. The Babymetal Reactor Resource has a version of it here though: ua-cam.com/video/CK2TVD0zkUg/v-deo.html On the Babymetal Reactor Resource videos, you can always find a link to a non-watermarked version in the description. As you do not tend to pause the music, perhaps it would be possible for you to watch the non-watermarked version on your screen, and just edit in the watermarked one in your final video before upload?
Thanks for the recommendations, and the Reactor Resource stuff. I might try the method you suggested for any future songs that have a high probability of being blocked. Thanks for watching 😁
TALES OF THE DESTINIES is "Dream Theater" proggy. The piano bit at the end is bridging into the song THE ONE, which also carry a bit of progginess from this. Other proggy bits may include: - BRAND NEW DAY is "Polyphia" proggy. - BBAB is "edm" proggy. - NIGHT NIGHT BURN is kinda "latin" proggy.
Here are some Japanese bands that use progressive elements in their music: Tricot: Pool; おちゃんせんすぅす (Ochansensusu) Cö shu Nie : Asphyxia; Lamp 88 kasyo junrei 八十八ヶ所巡礼 : 霊界ヌ〜ボ〜♨ (spirit world nouveau ♨) österreich: 無能 (Tokyo Ghoul theme) Hakushi Hasegawa 長谷川白紙 : 砂漠で (desert) JYOCHO: グラスの底は、夜 (a glass of night); sugoi kawaii Haisuinonasa ハイスイノナサ: Animal Body; Logos
I can't even dance a basic 4/4 slow music, and these girls are singing and dancing to Prog Metal wtf.. the Kami too, ridiculous talent to play this live. The entire team is beyond my comprehension.
If they have any other songs like this.....most of their songs leave you wondering that, and its no. Still cant think of two of their songs that were similar to one another.

The lyrics and music of this song are full of deep meaning. Different people hear different things and different feelings. What an amazing live show!
One of my favorite aspects about BM is their songs try different styles and fusion of styles. And it is always fun and kawii.
Absolutely. Variety is the spice of life. I was pleasantly surprised by this song and the band, in general

Yeah, I forgot to mention it in the video, but I also thought the same thing about the dancing. They did a great job staying in rhythm

Very impressive how much of an ode to Dream Theater it is, without feeling totally derivative. This song stands on its own, which I appreciate
Great reaction👊🏽⚡️🤘🏾🦊This was a song off their 2nd album Metal Resistance. Many songs of their recent album Metal Galaxy are veryprofit.
It's hard enough to headbang to prog metal.... but to dance to it....Only Babymetal. 🤘🦊🤘
Thanks for the reaction... as a musician, my favorite Babymetal song. 👍🏻🤯
Agreed, I can see why! 😄
This would’ve been amazing to see live in person 🤟🏻🦊🤟🏻
Agreed!
Finally someone caught the Dance of Eternity reference in the Ragtime piano section!
It was pretty overt to me; I feel like any Dream Theater fan would notice it 😅
But maybe there isn't that much overlap of DT fans and BM fans? 🤔
