Are you an "Uhm actually person"? Then you can correct my pronunciation of "Bhaal" in this thread to add comment engagement for this video. Or just comment your favorite song from the OST.
'A Threat From Nether Years' is the most goose bumpy music in this game for me. I think it was my first playthrough vs an end of Act 'boss' encounter, and my characters had a really tough but memorable fight. Anyway I recommend listening to the track.
Since the Song of Balduran plays in act three, it ALWAYS gives me a sad and emotional feeling because to me, it’s a reminder that i’m nearly done with the game and will never be able to experience it as if it were my first time again. Beautiful piece of music.
The classical version of "I Want to Live" always makes me imagine interactions between the characters in your party. Just like imaginary scenarios, dreaming up ways certain characters might talk to each other or interact. Such a rich fantasy world, I've never been so in love with a cast of characters before.
'I want to live Classical' was so amazing SPG decided to sit there and enjoy the whole thing without commenting for 4 minutes.. sometimes the music is just THAT good!
You got the instruments on the head for "bard dance" because that song is one that you can perform if you have instrument proficiency, the soundtrack version is what it sounds like in game if you have all instruments availiable playing it, and what you listed are all the instruments you can use.
Unfortunately, you have only 4 people in the party, but you can walk up to a performer in a tavern and start jamming with them to hear all 5 instruments together.
love that you know the bg1 and 2 callbacks in the music, Larian did fan service and produced a massive game. Such an accomplishment / masterpiece of gaming and music simultaneously i love hearing you appreciate it as much as i do
THANKS SO MUCH for actually listening to the songd amd not pausong every few seconds. Ots so wholesome to see you embrace the songs thanks so much for sharing your joy with us ❤❤❤
I can't help but notice that you have Vox Machina next to you. This brought a smile on my face. Edit: The Legacy of Bhaal has a huge impact if you decided to go a certain route in the game. It's so symbolic in a way that basically ties to a certain character's identity and the true horrors of realization that accompanies it. This game has a great value and I encourage you and everyone else to replay the game multiple times as it will surely provide you with a different and unique experience each time you play a different route.
Been watching since your first Baldur's Gate video, and I must say that I do enjoy when you add to a song with your violin. Been going through the catalogue to see more, love your work!
Bard Dance is so much fun!! While Down by the River and I Want to Live are my favorite songs from the OST, Bard Dance definitely gets an honorable mention. Hot take: while I do love the power behind The Legacy of Bhaal it sounds like a typical battle fight for a villain so it doesn't sound terribly unique to me. Perhaps I need to play BG1 and BG2 to better understand it though. That being said, the composition was still very strong! (Also oboe HYPE 16:54-17:05 and 18:23-18:31! Yes there are more spots but those stuck out to me) Overall this entire OST is beautiful where each part can be isolated and still sound fabulous and yet when they're put together they form a cohesive, unforgettable story. I agree with you on the power of instrumentals. It allows imagination to run free while also relaying a unique message!
I knew Borislav was next level in Divinity OS 2 with the main theme and the 2 versions of Rivellon, but this game felt like the entire team put their foot in it 🤌🏻
Bard Dance is my favorite song to perform as a bard, and fun fact I choose to play violin in-game 😄 I can't see you playing anything else but bard, this is by far the funniest class.
Loved as a bard, for the first time playing an instrument and other people start playing with you. Really brings bard song to life in the game. Soo good!
I remember Baldur's Gate 2 so well. When they brought in Jaheira and Minsc I nearly had a fan gasm. Especially since I remember those characters so fondly. So when they brought up a bunch of characters including Bhaal himself I was stoked and ready.
i just wanted to say, that i love the way your review is put up. mostly, people listen to the music and stop it the middle to comment, while you listen to the full song and then breakdown and explain what we just listened to. and i love the clips of you adding your touch to the songs. 💖
The Bard Dance is performable in-game if you have enough bards and each different instrument equipped for them to play. Along with that, multiple bard characters playing nearby will try to sync up with eachother on the same song as the player character.
I love how you commit with the outfit - was Baldurs Gate a childhood game for you? I grew up (late 90s, early 2000s) so my connection is more rooted in playing DND with my friends
I remember the first time I learned about Baldur's Gate the franchise. It was a college party in a friend's house in the late 90s, and I saw his BG2 boxed set just splat on a desk and I was instantly intrigued. I bought my own box set later on and the rest is history.
Videogame music sometimes gets a bad rep, or is underappreciated. I'm happy that you are enthusiastic about VG music and do covers, and I find your insights interesting. If you have the time, I'd recommend looking at (or I guess listening to) the Streets of Rogue OST. There are lots of interconnected leitmotifs in that game's soundtrack.
Love the audio quality on your videos. I really started appreciating more the other musicians involved in the music, not only Slavov. This soundtrack is really great all around.
Your videos are why I bought the soundtrack. Spouse and I have a collective 850 hrs in the game, but hearing the music outside the game just hits differently. Which I should've known because Spouse and I are huge gaming music nerds. (Xenogears, FFX, Undertale, Stardew Valley were my favorites, but I think BG3 bumped them down a notch. Ha!) I love when you play along with the songs because it just adds another layer to the music that is so lovely! Thank you so much for your vids!
I wandered into this video from your other Baldur’s Gate 3 music videos. I love watching your reactions. What made me want to comment is that I’ve been listening to your music box arrangements for a long time now, but I had no idea that was you when I started watching! Thank you for making both the videos and the music box collections!
My favourite after Raphael's Final Act is Legacy of Bhaal. It's hellish like hell. Especially it stuns during the conversation with Bhaal as his heir. Pity you've listened the version of "I want to love" without lyrics. Nice hat btw! And amazing violin skills 😊
Hi SPG! You should listen to Disco Elysium OST, especially the "La Revacholiere", "Ecstatic Vibrations, Totally Transcendent" and "Off We Go Into The Wild Pale Yonder". I love this game so much, it made me laugh and then cry. The most beautiful game I have ever played.
BG3 has the same music with which you can relax on the terrace on a sunny day, drinking wine or tea, looking at the local landscapes. Or some secluded restaurant. Aesthetics.
I like how we went from a lovely evening dancing around the bonfire to "they're dying for me! All of them!" And then "from villain to hero," as you say. I wonder how your sentiments may have shifted now that you've played the game.
The Bard's song and the song of Balduran, I haven't heard yet, mainly because I'm still in Act 1 but i do like them,, especially the Bard's song. I love going to the Grove with my boys (Astarion, Gale and Wyll) and listen to the acoustic version of I Want to Live with the sounds of wildlife in the background. That song plays more often than not there, more than the actual Grove song.
"I want yo live" is the song for Astarion and it's perfect. All the versions are beautiful. And yes.... Astarion's journey is very emotional. So many versions of that song... You can see Astarion was Larians's fav baby
It's NOT the theme of Astarion. It is the theme of US, the players. My source? The composer himself: twitter.com/Borislav_Slavov/status/1690711560413474817?t=6eJM6q7RIzFIK7J8XYxtOQ&s=19
I’ve played the first 2 games not to the end mind you as I lost my saves but hearing this brought me great joy. Much to the confusion of my poor friend
Song of Balduran catches me out with the beautiful signing, i really nearly fall asleep i`m so relaxed. i haven`t finished the game yet, maybe on purpose....
I have loved how you have talked about songs that I absolutely love. So a sound track that I think you would absolutely enjoy is Dwarf Fortress particularly the song, Vile Force of Darkness. The game was originally made sometime around 2006 but has been in early access sense and just last year got a major change and a brand new sound track.
I played 4 campaigns back to back for a total of 475 hours in 2 months and the music I loved the most is Raphael's Final Act. I mean, who can hate a good old Disney vilain singing his own battle theme music. Especially after I heard the interview that the voice actor did about the fact it was the first time ever for him to sing during his duties as a voice actor. It explains why the song is more a "discussion" than singing but damn, I still get chills just by talking about it!
If you are looking for soundtracks that are of note I would recommend: West of Loathing (some of the best western music i've ever done did hear), Caveblazers (has a very blockbuster esque soundtrack), FTL: Faster Than Light (very ambient/active spacey songs), and the original Risk of Rain ost (similar to the second)
Love your content! Just binged all your bg3 videos. The soundtrack in this game is so magical. Nothing beats a good fantasy soundtrack in my opinion. divinity Original Sin 2, fable, skyrim, the witcher 3!! So many good ones
I love this game for so many reasons. The soundtrack is incredible, I listen to it on repeat constantly. That's the first time a soundtrack has done that to me. I love the writing, the characters, the gameplay, the graphics and visual style are all just so fantasy and its just exactly the kind of game I love. Just recently left the Underdark, and knowing theres still so much game ahead makes me dizzy. So much GOOD content... It's been a long time since I've enjoyed something so thoroughly.
Everytime I get a notification from you I get so excited for your little snippet performance. SO GOOD. You never disappoint. The reaction is also very good, but yeah, I really have come to get excited about your contributions to a piece. Also I am an "UM actually" person and pronouncing Bhaal's name Bail is not that big of a deal... not that that won't keep people from earnestly saying it...
I thank you for your videos on the Baldur's Gate 3 soundtrack. It gives me great pleasure to watch your reactions and your professional assessment and to see what similar impressions one has oneself are perceived by others 🔥💪 Best greetings from Germany. 👋 PS: My favourite song is the instrumental version of "The Power"
Song of Balduran is the best Camp Song ever. I just stay at camp to hear it over and over. There is nothing better after a tense battle. When i first heard the line "Game is no over yet" a tear crawled down my cheeck and i only thought "Thank you!"
Of these ones, I'd say it's a tie between the song of balduran and I want to live (instrumental) both have that twang of hope that makes you want to fight on, just for a bit longer.
Hey man, I really adore your breakdowns of various soundtracks. One I think you'd love to hear would be the soundtrack for Darktide. It reminds me a lot of Mick Gordon's work, using a lot of unorthodox instrument combination such as church organs and choirs but combining them with heavy synth sounds and even a malfunctioning printer. The songs I'd recommend most would be the main theme, Disposal Unit (Imperial Mix), Data Interface and Rejects Unite. The last one is the one using the malfunctioning printer and it's probably my favourite of the bunch. It was a song that came later and is yet to see a proper release but there's a upload of it on UA-cam. Make sure you pick the shorter version as that one is a direct rip where the longer one is recorded in-game but the volume is occasionally lowered as new objectives come up. I sincerely hope you'll cover it some time soon but in the meantime I'm happy seeing whatever you cover in-between.
In my opinion, Song of Balduran is one of the best songs in the game, especially as we learn more about the life of the founder of Baldur's Gate during the game. In general, the game is simply replete with great OSTs. Borislav Slavov is simply tearing up the hall!
I think you may enjoy the Helltaker OST. This game is basically build arond music. It's electronic and dancy, made by Mittsies so you can find it on his UA-cam channel
epic battles are cool and all but have you considered giving everyone in your party performance proficiency so they can jam it out together in and outside of battle?
The Song of balduran goes so deep as it contains insane foreshadowing. Also if you want a true baldurs gate 3, as in continuation of 1 and 2 in a narrative sense dark urge is the call
I love how surprised he looks whenever something in the music does something unexpected Like: This is good, this is good! *something new* OMG it got better!
Larian hoodwinked everyone, right from the start. The Song of Balduran is all about the character that the entire story revolves around, what they do and what happens to them. No one even caught onto it, until after people started finishing the game. That's when people realized what the lyrics of this song actually are. It's a feat i don't think that anyone else has managed to pull off. Truly brilliant.
I'm really curious, since you've beat the game now, and as someone who's played and loved BG1&2; _(For other people: spoilers ahead for Act 2 and onward!)_ how cool was it for you, getting to meet Jaheira and Minsc again after all these years? I personally never played the previous games, but I watched my older brother play a little, so I knew _of_ the characters, and even I was practically giddy at their appearance. Also, an actual music related question: are there any songs from the old Baldur's Gate games you still love to this day and would recommend giving a listen?
Great questions! I absolutely loved the addition of Jaheira, Minsc, and most importantly Boo! It was just so nostalgic and such a great throwback to connect the narratives of all three games. Even if Minsc himself got the short end of the narrative stick, it's still amazing fan service. As for music, I still enjoy the title theme of BG2 the most with the older games.
My top favorites are The Last Light Inn and The Bard Song. Down The River, I definitely prefer the classical version. Other favorites are The Harpy Song and Weeping Down, and The Road To Baldur's Gate (despite the name, it's a positive ending theme).
Spoilers for Act 3 Song of Balduran is actually a spoiler in itself to the identity of a certain character. Knowing how important the Elfsong Tavern is when it sings a "different song" due to DnD Decent into Avernus made me pick apart each line of the lyrics and it actually has a whole big reveal in the song if you think about it long enough
As a musician and fantasy fan, it should be no surprise that I’ve come to enjoy your videos. Have you ever considered backtracking and going over something like LotR or something even more left field like Nier Automata sound track?
Oh man... i remember watching your videos when you started... i believe it was some Mario collection and you could barely speak english. How far you've come! You've obviously always been top tier musicist, but the production and analysis you've been able to do recently are just perfect. Keep going my friend, may you spread love for music to everyone
Welcome back! Although I've always been fluent in English, I rarely did speaking videos before and when I did I was playing a character who could not speak English well, "The Conductor". It was an act.
Are you an "Uhm actually person"? Then you can correct my pronunciation of "Bhaal" in this thread to add comment engagement for this video. Or just comment your favorite song from the OST.
In the forgotten realms, the lord of murder, Bhaal, sounds like the word ball but you linger on the ah sound.
@@Septimius_The_SeventhYup, Diablo made me forget. Funny easter egg at 6:29
- It's BhaAAAaaaaal
- No, stop it Ron!
But they also say it Baaal like the sound of 'a' in the words car or jar in the game. It seems to depend on the VA saying it.@@Septimius_The_Seventh
'A Threat From Nether Years' is the most goose bumpy music in this game for me. I think it was my first playthrough vs an end of Act 'boss' encounter, and my characters had a really tough but memorable fight. Anyway I recommend listening to the track.
Ah, "Song of Balduran"... The reason why I always spend so much time in camp in Act 3. Such an amazing piece of music!
This! I loved lingering around to hear the song, something about it is just spellbinding!
me, going to camp one second to change a companion.. also me: nevermind i'm staying till the song ends
A completely unexpected surprise from getting the rooms in Elfsong tavern. It's so beautiful.
@@ElRegis it's the law lmao
This is the first game where I’ve been so captured by the music that I listen to it outside of the game.
Amazing!
That's kinda surprising honestly. I listen to primarily only game OST, like Celeste, Hollow Knight, Risk of rain, etc
bg3s soundtrack is defiantly that good but i'd give some more game ost's a listen
Sounds like you dont play games enough then
@@jacobmosovich and that's completely ok. Hardcore gaming is not for everyone.
Legacy of Bhaal is my absolute favorite because of how closely related it is to a *certain* playthrough.
20 minutes straight of a real life bard jamming at the sound of baldurs gate 3, this is what I live to
Since the Song of Balduran plays in act three, it ALWAYS gives me a sad and emotional feeling because to me, it’s a reminder that i’m nearly done with the game and will never be able to experience it as if it were my first time again. Beautiful piece of music.
The classical version of "I Want to Live" always makes me imagine interactions between the characters in your party. Just another day of Gale begging for artifacts.
@@LionmightOfficial yup, and Lae'zel with her eternal grumpiness.
i know it's not the crowd favorite, but the Song of Balduran is my favorite voiced composition in the game. glad you finally made it there!
Totally agree, perfect song
Is my favorite too and main theme ❤
'I want to live Classical' was so amazing SPG decided to sit there and enjoy the whole thing without commenting for 4 minutes.. sometimes the music is just THAT good!

@@AngryBoozer duh
The classical version of I Want to Live is just amazing to me, your brief outro was fantastic too. Thanks!
love that you know the bg1 and 2 callbacks in the music, Larian did fan service and produced a massive game. Such an accomplishment / masterpiece of gaming and music simultaneously i love hearing you appreciate it as much as i do
I love how you always add your own spin on the song at the end 😊
"I want to live" with the vocals is by far my favorite song on the games soundtrack

I really like figurines of Vex and Keyleth on the background
I can't help but notice that you have Vox Machina next to you. This brought a smile on my face.

actually found your channel due to BG3 and I'm so thankful for that! really have been enjoying your videos so far!

Shadowheart as the bard is the best. Vicious Mockery with Jennifer English's acting is meme perfection

I thank you for your videos on the Baldur's Gate 3 soundtrack. It gives me great pleasure to watch your reactions and your professional assessment and to see what similar impressions one has oneself are perceived by others 🔥💪
Best greetings from Germany. 👋
PS: My favourite song is the instrumental version of "The Power"
Please check out "The Grand Design (Requiem)" - basically the final boss music :D
Song of Balduran is the best Camp Song ever. I just stay at camp to hear it over and over. There is nothing better after a tense battle.
When i first heard the line "Game is no over yet" a tear crawled down my cheeck and i only thought "Thank you!"
Same tbh. The perfect music to a posh inn setting.
@@LionmightOfficial And thank you for Axe & Ale! Definately be using it next session.
@@baronsengir187 thank you!!!
I use bg3 music as my alarms to wake up to, i used to use bard dance but too much energy for my sleepy self lol
Love seeing the musicians are enjoying the OST!
In my opinion, Song of Balduran is one of the best songs in the game, especially as we learn more about the life of the founder of Baldur's Gate during the game. In general, the game is simply replete with great OSTs. Borislav Slavov is simply tearing up the hall!
I want to live (classical version) makes me envision someone viewing their adventures as a segmented montage, as they slowly fade into oblivion.
Great interpretation!
I think you may enjoy the Helltaker OST. This game is basically build arond music. It's electronic and dancy, made by Mittsies so you can find it on his UA-cam channel
While definitely not my favorite on the soundtrack, I find myself whistling bard dance CONSTANTLY.
Love this ost so much. Good video.
epic battles are cool and all but have you considered giving everyone in your party performance proficiency so they can jam it out together in and outside of battle?
Seen and done.
The Song of balduran goes so deep as it contains insane foreshadowing.
Also if you want a true baldurs gate 3, as in continuation of 1 and 2 in a narrative sense dark urge is the call
The true BG3 experience is a party full of gnome barbarians.
i no longer need antidepressant pills, every time i have bad mood i listen "Bard Dance", mood immediately improves
such joyful music
Nice! In that case may you also enjoy this: ua-cam.com/video/J7e8GGmLbd8/v-deo.html
I love how surprised he looks whenever something in the music does something unexpected
Like: This is good, this is good!
Life achievement - Having a theme song playing when you enter the scene.
I really liked all the musics linked to Dracosyr's roc, Ansur and Gortash. But they are not listed in the official OST
The baldur Musics are probably gonna go to my top 15 best music list
@@LionmightOfficialI haven't played old Gates but i adore this Minsc i saw in bg3 !
My top favorites are The Last Light Inn and The Bard Song. Down The River, I definitely prefer the classical version. Other favorites are The Harpy Song and Weeping Down, and The Road To Baldur's Gate (despite the name, it's a positive ending theme).
I love Borislav Slavov's music so much
Spoilers for Act 3
Song of Balduran is actually a spoiler in itself to the identity of a certain character.

You should definitively try the Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 ost, pretty sure that your gonna be stunned by it :)
Oh man... i remember watching your videos when you started... i believe it was some Mario collection and you could barely speak english.
@@LionmightOfficial Oh! hahaha that was a plot twist! Well played!
Larians other game, Divinity original sin 2, also has amazing music
