    How i would fix destiny 2 at the end with all the cut content, use the reflections as a way to reintroduce the lost. You go to reflections and return to that time in destiny. Replaying red war and everything. Expansions, and seasons. Reflections can do that if retrofitted to do so. Return to the season of the black armory to reintroduce the forges, later choose to go to the drifter season for the raid, etc. Etc.

  • @Drascylla
    @Drascylla 23 дні тому +1

    Consider this: Is a "fresh start" any less morally questionable than "sunsetting"? In a single-player game, starting over isn't a big deal because you can create a new playthrough and still keep your old save file, preserving your accomplishments within the same title. However, in online games starting over isn't always as simple, since creating a new character often doesn't mean a clean slate because much of your progression is tied to the account. So, if you create a sequel to an online game and don't carry over the players stuff, you're essentially negating their hard-earned progress.
    Take Destiny 2, for example. If Bungie decided to indeed create Destiny 3 without transferring any of the accomplishments from Destiny 2, it would render players' investments meaningless. Yes, Destiny 2 would still exist, but much like Destiny 1, it would likely go dark and eventually become irrelevant. That’s a much harsher form of sunsetting: where instead of just losing specific weapons or gear and some content, you lose literally everything.

    honestly regardless of what bungie do people will complain but....i think they should not let us carry our loot over it would ruin the game in many aspects i also think they should make exotics rare af again but with more meaningful perks i mean destiny 1 loot chase was peak gaming and getting that rare as all hell exotic drop felt like you hit the lottery but they can't really do that if we can just carry over all our existing ones we would just be OP af straight from the get go.

    I don’t think people are opposed to starting fresh, I think people are opposed to starting fresh knowing they’ll add it all back in. And you’ll have to earn it again. If they make an entire game from scratch then restarting is fine, but we know that half the life of d3 is gonna be adding d2 stuff into it anyway. Which is fine, I just won’t play it, which is fine we can find another game to play.

    So... theres a major problem that I noticed with cosmetics carrying over (specifically for warlocks). In D1 gauntlets used to go to the shoulder (which was SO MUCH BETTER) but in D2 they r just gloves... given that D3 apparently has no classes robes/warlock gloves just arent compatable with D1 armour, D2 titan and hunter armour because of that (imo) stupid decision they made. Also D2 titan proportions are just straight up silly sometimes, if u look at some D1 armour that was put into D2 sometimes the D2 female is literally the same size as the D1 male lol.
    Sidenote: Id hope D3 is a truely modern game too and that bringing those armour pieces over would look incredibly dated cause of texture quality/resolution, geometry complexity ect. D2 is 7 years old and it REALLY shows now with the lighting, anti aliasing (SMAA and FXAA just look so bad even compared to DLSS which isnt even native which is saying something). Fur/hair is also terribly handled in the game too (actually this is something that is worse in D2 than D1 for some reason, u can actually see that with the ripped raw character models for the Iron Banner armour). One thing D2 does do amazingly compared to even modern day games is pop in, u never see it.
    If D3 is meant to last 8-9 years like D2 is going to, and they do require a content sunsetting system again to account for game size inflation they should have a system in place like Halo MCC this time where u pick and choose the content u have downloaded in ur game. E.g. right now I would have the EDZ and Nesus uninstalled, I dont currently go to them ect.
    I think a fresh start is needed from the ground up for almost everything.

    Regardless, I would almost rather they return the loot rarity to where it was in D1. Hopping back to D1 every time I got an exotic I was like YOOOOOO, and the same to an extent with legendaries. Nothing feels rare any more and as such when I get a roll of a weapon I like I no longer have a desire to play the Playlist. Give the weapons a smaller perkpool, and up the drop rate of blues while lowering the drop rate of legendaries, that way it still feels good to get that drop you want, even if it's not the roll you want, and each drop actually feels valuable instead of just something to shard cuz it's not 4/5 or 5/5.

    I would have to disagree. Some form of gear retirement has to exist in order to have the game persist as we want it to. I would suggest they look into utilizing their rarity system in conjunction with episodes/expansions to create a soft gear retirement system. The alternative is resetting everything with sequels like we’ve already done. I’m fine with doing either, but the current way is not great.

    Honestly, cosmetics should stay imo. any ornaments for weapons and armor that have been paid for, earned, or transmogged should be account specific. even after d3 comes out, i don't see why it'd be a problem for them to continue to let people go back to d1/2 to earn the items, and for it to carry over to d3 after the fact. no "cut off date" or anything like that either :p
    this would also fix the want for d1 armor to return. give us a way to go back to d1, earn/buy eveverse packs for silver dust and any of the armor from the silver dust engrams/anything earned could be transmogged for 3. imagine the fashion potential. plus would keep the old games alive if it transferred to the newest game at any point. literal unlimited grind and income potential on their end, all it would take is some love put back into their franchise as a whole
    on the topic of seasonal stuff, i wish so badly they'd implement a way for us to go back. whether it be optional downloaded content, or a "legacy edition" or d2 that has the old stuff included, i miss it, and would loooove to see it come back

    i personally think destiny 2 is way too oversaturated to make a 3rd game that will appease everyone. i think theyve really got themselves in a bind here where theres almost nothing they could do with destiny 3 that would warrant all of us paying for it again while retaining all the stuff we had in D2. at some point you can only change the game so much. like i just dont see Bungie actually coming up with a creative way to make a completely new game and calling it destiny 3. cause if they pull the same BS move they did with D2 bascially taking everything good out of D1 and making us pay them to put it back in thats completely unacceptable. and its gotten to the point where so many people have spent so much money across 6 years of destiny 2 on all the content theyve put in that for them to push through to a new game and leave D2 behind is just unreal. weve gotten the same style of content out of bungie for nearly 4 years now and i just cant see them finding a way to make something new and creative. yeah prismatic is cool but it just such a lateral move. like thats how it should have been from the start honestly. the people who complain about stuff like that are the people who only play PVP and dont appreciate destiny for what it actually is. they have such an unlimited amount of possibilities when it comes to destiny 2 and they mismanaged tf out of it. i could think of 20 new ideas for this game and so could the rest of the community but they continue to just reuse old weapons and make useless weapon perks and add the same style of seasonal conent and progression and remaster old raids instead of building new ones. they couldnt even give us exotic armor with this latest season or even into the light. i personally think they should actually talk to the community and ask for the best ideas from them on what to make of this game cause there are so many people with infinitely better ideas than their teams rn. the community has 1000x more hours combined than anyone at bungie and it shows so frequently. they need to talk to us

    These guys have a very privileged place in the game and you can tell by how they talk. Losing everything in they got D2 doesn’t mean jack shit to them because they have Legions of Fans who will help them get everything in D3 the second it drops. When the new Final Shape Raid comes out, they will have 30 Clears by day 2, I will have 0 or 1. I actually had to put in effort into getting my gear with subpar rude random-match teammates, so honestly I’m not very thrilled at the idea of losing everything once again. If D3 happens and it’s a reset then I’m quitting the Franchise.

    The only reason I'd give Bungie carte blanch to sunset our gear is if....and that is a big IF we get a weapons and armor 4.0, or they switch to an entirely different engine to run Destiny 3. Other than that, I will be pissed off if they get rid of my gear in the new game AGAIN.

    Personally I think all armors and cosmetics should carry over. Sparrows, Ghost Shells, Ships, and Emotes all carry over. Weapons shouldn't be brought over, regrind those. Subclasses should not exist, everything should be Prismatic with a mix of old and new supers and abilities. D3 really needs a massive amount of new content for it to not just be "more Destiny with a bigger price tag", and I want to place a heavy emphasis on a switch of cosmetics from the Shader system to limited color palettes like Warframe, where you can customize your character with color swatches that you can earn and/or pay for, and you have full control over how your character looks. We have too many shaders that have either 1 or 2 colors that don't look good together and because we don't get to see the full list of colors in the shader that applies per material we have to just get the shader to be able to figure out that it looks terrible.
    Weapons and Exotics can probably have a couple of reused introductions like the Khvostov and Traveler's Chosen, but for the most part the only things being returned should be the ones that are either representative of Destiny as a whole or the ones that are nostalgic for everyone, like the Khvostov or Traveler's Chosen being the first weapons that we got when we made our characters.
    On an unrelated note I would prefer to see an update to character creation and customization. Like I made my Exo Hunter in D1 at launch, it doesn't look too great, and D2 added a few customization options to characters that I didn't get to put on my first and really only character because Bungie decided it was "too broken" to allow more than 1 character of each class to get rewards per week. I'd like to be able to change the look of my character freely for D3 and on top of that I'd like to see the evolution of character customization beyond just "Put a helmet on them and that's your look". Give us the ability to change the relative build of our characters, we don't need anything crazy like an RPG would give, but it should at least be something more than what we currently have.

  • @RedShadowOfSaturn

    It's crazy to me that Destiny loot has literally no broad, long term value, as most of it keeps getting power crept, it can't be traded, even the stuff you've invested materials and glimmer into to "progress" has other similar BETTER versions of it, and it has zero use outside of "am I using this, am I not using this"...and yet, this community STILL takes this "I don't wanna lose my dearest dearest items that I wOrKeD sO hArD tO gEt, mUh pRoGrEsSiOn" attitude, like...
    Get some perspective. I understand people cling to the game being a "looter shooter," but trust me...LOOT is kinda the worst part of Destiny. Not saying guns aren't neat and gear isn't fun to equip, but loot, as a reward, as a gameplay motivator, is SO hollow, in the larger scheme of the gameplay being interesting, the world building being on point, the narrative evoking emotion and stakes, ya know...the IMPORTANT things.
    HALO never had this "muh progression" problem. You did the campaign, then you lived in PvP. In my view, if Destiny 3 is real, it needs to basically ditch loot altogether. If they keep it a "looter", it needs to go 10x as hard, with more gear slots, more inventory, more vault space, more skill trees, more everything. Lean hard into it being a hardcore RPG shooter.
    Otherwise, just ditch loot. Make it the spiritual successor to Halo Destiny should've been from day 1. Give it real substance, vs repetitive live service crud it continues to try and be.

    • @chrisn3819
      @chrisn3819 Місяць тому +1

      Sounds like you need to play more halo than Destiny. Or any other game in which progression is an afterthought. They chose to leave halo behind so they could do a game with deep progression. If that’s not your bag that’s fine…but that progression is why most players (myself included) love this game.
      Also…what do you mean “loot has no long term value”…lots of games like Destiny don’t have trading. what value is there supposed to be outside of the value of shooting an alien in the face?

    • @RedShadowOfSaturn
      @RedShadowOfSaturn Місяць тому

      @@chrisn3819 The "progression" you love so much about Destiny is entirely artificial, tacked on, and Bungie has largely bungled its balance and development for 10 years. They've proven it's mostly unnecessary. "I need to play more Halo." I mean, I've played the first two, long after they were the hit thing, and it was immediately clear to me WHY people wanted Destiny and WHY most of what Destiny is is, again, entirely unnecessary. Like, reread my comment...Halo is a classic FPS not because of tacked on "rpg progression." It's a classic because of core combat quality (something that Destiny has seen deteriorate, but I'm sure you haven't noticed) and a strong narrative with well written characters and deep lore. Destiny's LORE has always trumped its in-game narrative, and 10 years in, that hasn't changed. Not for a single moment. Halo had good real time narrative, something Destiny...has basically abandoned in favor of drip fed seasonal crap, that most everyone wants to see changed drastically.
      Also...Destiny's progression is AAAAAAANYTHING but "deep," my guy. I've played enough of it. I've seen recent changes. It's ALL hollow and empty and face value.
      As for "long term value"...loot can ALWAYS have value to other players, for a variety of reasons. Quick question...if you get a god roll...then luckily, you get another one, that only breaks down to a few scant materials, what's that amazing luck worth to you then? Why should I bother ever feeling good about getting lucky enough to hope for another god roll I already have? If I could trade that second god roll to someone who doesn't have it...someone who may not have time to farm 20 hours a day like some people...and that person can give me materials, upgrade resources, currency (premium or otherwise)...I'd love to know why that's "bad." You instantly take a game full of loot rewards and extend their usefulness beyond just "welp, my collection's done."
      But sure, I need to "play more Destiny." Nah, man. I play better games, with far more meaningful content. Destiny is a waste of time and money for anyone masochistic enough to stick with it.
