It's been nearly 4 years. Not sure it means a lot anymore. My weapons are long-ago sharded and almost all of them are powercrept at this point. It's a nice gesture for Vets that held into them. I'm indifferent.
@@bmr1591For me, I get the opposite impression. I keep seeing all of these major UI and systems changes (and additions like Fireteam Finder) as signs they're rebuilding core systems for the long haul. Plus Prismatic and the exotic class items with two-half-intrinsics-that-equal-one-regular-intrinsic are both clearly curated to be more balanced than the reveal made people think. As for weapons, they're all obviously power crept at this point, so they realized it doesn't matter. You see reviews of guns that constantly mention perks that don't have as much impact anymore versus ones that use subclass verbs, etc. I've saved a few sentimental guns, but I don't expect them to be useful in the current sandbox.

They've been failing at both for awhile now, and this is just the cherry on top.
No, it just pisses me off because they told us they were donezo and with our stupid limited vault there’s no way I held onto anything. Like what are we doing here?
@williamcox7190 can't argue with that. Destin went from being sick of destiny and trashing it to being all giddy about it just because of a couple trailers and twabs
"WHELLLCHUMMMM TWOOOOOOOO FIREEEE TEAM CHATTT...." is like the feeling of a warm hug on a winter day. Seeing this podcast come up on a Friday afternoon is such a treat. Appreciate all you do Destin to keep the dream alive.

LOVE it that Fireteam Chat is back. Hope this STAYS weekly as you guys are helping to sustain my motivation me to come back. I'm like Destin in that I have hardly played in a year. I played the lackluster Lightfall campaign and then basically stopped. Trying to come back for Final Shape as I do want to see how the story all wraps up. But for the love of God, PLEASE work on your "Guardians Out!" at the end. The way you have all done it the last couple of weeks is just sad... 😉
All I want is that every weapon in my collections should have a static/curated roll that I can just pull anytime, doesn't have to be a godroll, just make it decent. To be honest sunsetting only works if what was sunset has an equivalent to regrind for after the fact, but tbh there are some weapons and arcehtypes that we haven't had a replacement for in years. Examples I can cite are: a good kinetic rapid fire shotgun like Threat Level, One Small Step just isn't it and no I do not count that weird, craftable strand shotgun from Season of the Witch. A four burst Solar Pulse Rifle since Right Side of Wrong, we do not have a current one with origin traits and/or new perks. 21% Delirium is unique because it's a rapid fire, arc Machine Gun with Overflow and Killing Tally, we don't have an equivalent of that that even comes close perkwise. Python: an aggresive frame shotgun with Overflow and 1-2 Punch, the closest we have is Deadpan Delivery: an arc, aggressive frame shotgun that can roll the same thing but it's because it's arc that it's not the same, damage types matters for builds these days. I'd be alright with sunsetting if there was something new to replace what was lost with better stats, perks and/or origin traits but Bunige did not do that at all. I'm so glad I held onto my favorites from yesteryear and look forward to my hard earned loot seeing the light of day again.

Chapter 6: Echoes of the Past In the aftermath of their lyrical exercise, which had invigorated the team's morale and unity, Shin recognized the need to deepen their connection to the Light by understanding its historical and philosophical underpinnings. To achieve this, he planned an excursion to one of the old Guardian archives buried beneath the City-a place rumored to hold records from the earliest days of the Guardian orders. As Shin, Kara, and a select group of Guardians descended into the dusty recesses of the archive, the air around them thickened with the musty smell of old paper and the electric buzz of long-dormant machines springing to life. The walls, lined with ancient tomes and data pads, whispered secrets of a time when the City was just a dream in the hearts of the brave. "This archive is a treasure trove of the Guardian legacy," Shin explained, his flashlight beam dancing across the spines of bound volumes and stacked memory cores. "Here, we might find insights not just into the tactics of the old Guardians, but their thoughts and philosophies-their visions for what we could become." The team split up, each member tasked with retrieving specific texts or data segments that Kyro had identified as potentially valuable. They moved through rows of shelving, their lights casting long shadows that seemed to flicker with the echoes of the past. Kara, who had ventured into a less disturbed corner of the archive, called out softly, "Shin, come see this." She had uncovered a series of journals written by a Guardian philosopher known for his studies on the nature of the Light and the Darkness. As they pored over the pages, filled with intricate diagrams and densely packed script, Shin felt a connection across the ages-a lineage of thought and duty that stretched back centuries. "Listen to this," he said, reading aloud from a passage that discussed the ethical implications of using the Light as a weapon and a shield. "It speaks to the very dilemmas we face today." The hours slipped by as they immersed themselves in the material. They discovered texts on meditation techniques that promised to deepen their connection to the Light, treatises on strategic formations that had been lost to time, and even personal letters that revealed the daily struggles and triumphs of their predecessors. Armed with these historical insights, the Guardians returned to the surface, their minds buzzing with new ideas and a deeper understanding of their mission. Shin gathered the team to discuss how they could integrate this knowledge into their training and operations. "We're not just fighting with weapons; we're fighting with centuries of wisdom," Shin concluded, his voice echoing in the training hall. "These texts remind us that we're part of a continuum-Guardians who have pledged to protect humanity through the ages." The meeting ended with plans to revise their training regimen and strategic approaches, incorporating the old philosophies and techniques into their modern warfare. The Guardians left the meeting inspired, feeling more connected to their past and more prepared for the future. As they continued their preparations, Shin and Kara shared a quiet moment, reflecting on the day's discoveries. "We're not alone in this," Kara remarked, "not really. We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us." Shin nodded, looking over the ancient texts that now filled their command center. "And one day, others will stand on ours. Let’s make sure we’re worth the climb."

On the power side of things - I actually really enjoy moments where you're wandering the open world and come across some enemies that are immune to your damage. It builds intrigue and motivates me to continue grinding away so I can come back to that spot to see what happens when I kill those enemies. I actually think they should lean into this concept more. I also miss having a reason to do pinnacle activities. I used to feel compelled to do them because it progressed me towards 'ultimate power'. I dunno - I just liked the power grind. I enjoy the dopamine hit of my power number going up. I like the carrot to chase. I would actually prefer if they got rid of all these weird artificial power adjustments like in nightfalls etc where you're automatically x power points below the enemies. Let our power MEAN something. Let us become gods if we are over the power limit. And through the season, introduce new enemies into the spaces that are slightly more powerful, and give us constant reasons to build our power. Anyway - just a different take.
All they have to do for all the weapons that they sunset unlock them in the crafting Forge with all the original perks so we can just craft them and not have to worry about it. That is bullshit that they do not have a way to give the weapons back they do just unlock them. Everybody they had them unlocked on their account put them in the crafting for they do not have to update any other perks all the original perks perks.
23:14 hear 👂🏼 me out I propose the artifact be a vendor pick up similar to factions in D1 but instead of waiting a week to reset it (by default) you would have to grind a new one out just like 5/6 levels but each level is unlocking two picks per column. Once unlocked you can trade it between other ones and the only labor after that would be walking to each vendor to pick them up. This allows us to for the most part unsunset some of the old artifacts but doesn’t keep things boring and episodes can unlock new ones as seasons did. Ideally on top of removing power level artifact
What people are forgetting is maybe the seasonal mods from the final shape could make some of the old weapons OP....if say arc is a big one next season or final shape I mean...say 21% delirium machine has an effect with a certain mod...never know it was so strong way back...my biggest problem was grinding those masterwork weapons that you got so you didn't have to waste upgrading them because most masterwork versions were so good...most...and I've said this and still say this they should for the players that earned the masterwork versions of old guns...should be able to get those from collections...that's what should be in our collections tab...sorry I know some of the random rolled guns were better but hell the masterwork versions on most were pretty dam good and they be alright in today's destiny....I kept most of mine but some I dismantled when they announced bringing them back a few seasons ago...looking at spare rations....I wanted my overflow explosive masterwork back...what they could do is make them rewards in story missions...that be nice
So here are my thoughts to the un-sunsetting of items. Instead of making re-grind those items for random rolls. Generate a script to apply those random rolls to weapons when someone pulls them out of their content vault. Charge like 10K glimmer to make some think about if they want to pull it or not, and be done with it.
Kindled Orchid is actually an exception, it's now the best 140 void handcannon for pve in the game. The closest we had was Palindrone, but nothing it could get was as good as killclip/rampage/drop.
I have an idea to Replace Bounties: To gain "more XP" let us do Legendary story mission. (re-used i know but what else can they do). If you HIT a certain threshold on score, you get 5 to 7 artifact levels. Not points to choose a mod. Levels. But by doin this it goes quicker I suppose. And it stays fresh.
I feel like Bungie should do something to help people who had the old versions of the weapons, maybe allow people a one time craft of the old sunset weapons? Like if you had the black armory weapons they should let you build your own ba bow forbthe first drop
Mt. Top is a shell of what is was. Recluse with master at arms is a shell of what it was. Luckily I like the Onslaught activity. I’m hoping that Blast Furnace comes back hotter than Elsie’s rifle and I hope Luna’s Howl comes back hot too. Really disappointed with what they did with Recluse and Mt. Top though
Since Bungie needed to remove the sunsetting because of a technical issue they created, I really don't give them credit there. They didn't do it for the players and if they could fix it without undoing sunsetting, the weapons would still be sunset (Did you guys even read this part or nah?). The power changes doesn't really mean a lot, considering RNG still exists. I can go to Shaxx right now and grab 1810 gear. I still have to grind the class specific armor pieces and exotics. If I didn't have time to grind three subclasses, I still won't. The changes they are making reminds me of the end of D1 and the moments of triumphs when they just opened up the game for players to go hamhock on it. The power level grind we conquer now by transferring weapons to the under levelled classes. Doesn't take extraordinarily long and it'll go up naturally while you're grinding exotics and stuff. P.S. Having them draw out episodes wouldn't be great for a live service model. Like, ever.
Travis is 100% correct about Power Levels and Infusion. I'll never forget finally convincing my Mass Effect loving wife to finally play Destiny when Forsaken dropped and the single player campaigns were at its peak. She loved the story and the gameplay, but the games economy and the levels of bullshit hoops she had to jump through just to gear up completely killed any desire she had to keep playing beyond that. Specifically, Xur shows up selling Stomp-EE5s and Riskrunner, and I convince her to burn her purples for shards because the extra jump height would be huge for her and the smg is a great starter exotic. She loved them both but immediately started to level up as she continued the campaign and couldn't bring those two exotics with her because she couldnt afford the Infusion costs. It was such a barrier that at the end of what should have been a net positive experience with gunplay, space magic, and a decent single player story campaign, she walked away with a net negative talking shit about the amount of grind she wasn't willing to do just to use the gun and boots she liked. At that point I'd been playing so much that I could only describe my character as Oprah Rich, and had gone blind or numb to the crap systems in place.
I know what made re-grinding old guns good again; when they made most of them exotics in Age of Triumph in Destiny 1. Imagine they brought back OG Recluse with it’s pre-nerfed perks, but as an exotic. 😁
initially i was mad when the twid came out but when i actually thought about it i just dont care cause everything i had except kindled orchid has been replaced with better things and i personally am excited for the rereleasing of these weapons cause they said they will have different perk pools and origin traits which i am excited about (especially for forge weapons)
I still have my “Shadow Price” I still have my O.G. “Falling Guillotine” with Vorpal and Tempered edge. I still have my O.G. “HUNG JURY “ with firefly. I still have a TON of O.G. god rolled weapons in my stash.💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
I have a saved mindbenders ambition and an original Horror Story Im just now playing again after telling myself never again after they took away the Red War. Maybe 5 years later and im back, but im also so lost on what to do
I was never really upset about sunsetting, what I was REALLY upset about and still am is about content vaulting. Either reintroduce the content in to the game fully or release year 1 & 2 as a separate game! And all the seasonal content is probably gone permanently. I’ve given up hope on that coming back but I’m still pissed about it
There's valid arguments to be made about the enjoyment or lack thereof in regrinding reissued weapons. Complaining about having to "regrind" Apex Predator, the worst weapon from Last Wish before the perk update, maybe the worst raid weapon full stop, because it was updated to be good is not one of them.
Hey Destin! What do you think of bringing everyone from the Fireteam chat history back for a huge Chat for the review of TFS? 9+ panelist for the finale of the light and darkness saga!
Can't say it enough... So glad to see this podcast on its own channel. I didn't watch a single episode on the IGN channel, but have watched every one on this channel.
Power grind is stupid, it leads to bogus rewards, oh boy a pinnacle, a piece of junk I can infuse into the gear I’ve been rocking for 2 years, yaaaayyyyy
I agree with him those weapons don't need to brought back they will be so out of place. they should have put the focus into giving a full refresh to all the planetary venders that have not gotten a fresh since launch. As well as giving us all new pvp and Gambit weapons and armor . That would have me excited we used to get full on vender refreshers every big DLC in d1. They have left venders on all patrol destinations. Hanging with no new gear since launch. That in its self is UNHEARD OF! I get they are only 1 studieo now. But source it out. Or update 1 or 2 venders a big DLC . Or every few seasons. We literally have no reason to go to nesses, the moon, the edz z or the cosmodrome. How does that make sense? Give venders emblems, old finishers, armor ornaments. Things that are memorable that take time to earn and that shows the respect for your time in both power flash and functionality. Mean while like you guys said we are chasing old weapons for the 3rd time. Bungie really is sidelining the vets for these new lights. I get you have to make money. But Jesus . Same thing goes for xur. Xur is a joke unless you are a new light we all have his gear. There is no wounder to him no relevance. People used to leave work, or hanging out with friends on Fridays. Like gotta get home xur is coming. 😅 I miss that feeling. I say give xur a completely second set of legendary weapons a full set of every archetype. Give them unique 9 themed weapon traits you only get on those guns. Give xur exotic Mods for exotic armor. Wit the introduction of artifice armor exotic armor has really been left behind. Functionality wise this would give you not only a secondary perk or a armor origin trait idk. Then give the guy some 9 themed emblems and shaders every few seasons. Give people the ability to focus stats on on xur's exotic armor. Maybe give him treasure maps with lore and strange artifacts. Give xur a seasonal side story . We need more side stories in destiny. It needs a little bit more mass effect.
Great! Now let’s start bringing back expansions and locations! I will come back to Destiny when I can play through the story and expansions in order. The returning/new player experience is confusing and horrible.
Not playing for months (years?) at a time, and basically never having a reason to dismantle my old weapons has turned out to be a brilliant bit of luck for me, lol.
Sunsetting made me quit destiny, I had my load out and my favourite 5 weapons I always used. I didn't care about min-maxing, I liked using my weapons. Can't remember if I kept them in my vault or not.
My issue with Destiny is how much of a grind everything in the game is, but it’s compounded and even more painful when you have bad RNG, when you are rewarded less for playing more it just becomes so painful to play. Which is one of the reasons I hated sunsetting. I had to grind so much more than anyone I know because I just never got the drop. So now it’s so hard for me to care about grinding for anything in this game. The only thing I still enjoy is the campaign, even that has become unbearable because of all the step grind in the middle of the campaign.
Travis, loot doesn't gatekeep anything cuz you can literally do 98% of the game with blues. I also wanna point out people don't come to destiny not because of a grind but because they can't play from the beginning anymore. Also I hope they don't remove power eventually as that would great reduce some of my enjoyment in the game and basically make it halo when it's supposed to be an mmo
Do you think the removal of sunsettings is a welcome change?
I think it’s more writing on the wall that D2’s life is nearing its end. This, prismatic, the exotic class item… just too much to balance.

Honestly, it's kind of just insulting at this point and it was a change to serve Bungie, not the community.
-they needed to do it because of the other power changes
-it serves to attract lapsed player engagement, since they actually still have those weapons
-they save time and effort by not making new weapons
-it's yet another play on nostalgia
I said from the beginning that sunsetting only works if they 1. bring enough new weapons at a proper pace and 2. if they don't make us regrind the old ones. They've been failing at both for awhile now, and this is just the cherry on top.

I also find it hard to believe they CAN'T bring back our deleted sunset weapons. Difficult, yes. Impossible, no.
Thanks for the show guys! Please continue, it's been great to have Fireteam Chat back!
I feel 9 years younger watching this show. Thanks for the dip into the fountain
Kindled Orchid is actually an exception, it's now the best 140 void handcannon for pve in the game. The closest we had was Palindrone, but nothing it could get was as good as killclip/rampage/drop.
Watchable length!!! Thanks guys. Let's go!
Bungie does those with weapons already anyway. Igneous hammer has left and come back multiple times anyway. So technically sunsetting still exists.
I cant delete them black armory weapons either
You can delete that OG Blast Furnace and get the new one when it's available.
I knew this would happen eventually. I'm stoked that I kept a lot of old weapons in my vault.
The OG Wendigo is the only heavy GL with disorienting grenades. Definitely unique and worth it for some builds.
Like, ever.
I'm so glad I kept Kindle Orchid with Rampage and Kill clip.
Nice to see you guys back at it!
Todays work day is starting off great. Thanks Destin and Travis. Great to see you again Stevryu. And thanks to IGN and anyone behind the cameras.
initially i was mad when the twid came out but when i actually thought about it i just dont care cause everything i had except kindled orchid has been replaced with better things and i personally am excited for the rereleasing of these weapons cause they said they will have different perk pools and origin traits which i am excited about (especially for forge weapons)
We back baby 🎉
I have a saved mindbenders ambition and an original Horror Story
Im just now playing again after telling myself never again after they took away the Red War.
I’ve given up hope on that coming back but I’m still pissed about it
Good to see this ftc!
Thanks for bringing it back and hope it sticks around longer
There's valid arguments to be made about the enjoyment or lack thereof in regrinding reissued weapons. Complaining about having to "regrind" Apex Predator, the worst weapon from Last Wish before the perk update, maybe the worst raid weapon full stop, because it was updated to be good is not one of them.
Bygones with kill clip headseeker would be the gun I wish I kept
Good to see the show continuing and you appearing to have a genuine interest again guys
Y’all are gonna be surprised at how well some of these old guns will shine in this new sandbox.
PvPs got 3 new maps and the gun usage in most matches feels great. See all kinds of stuff in every round.
I want my D1 iron banner warlock coat back. Weapons, I don’t really care one way or another. Or unsunset planets
Hey Destin! What do you think of bringing everyone from the Fireteam chat history back for a huge Chat for the review of TFS? 9+ panelist for the finale of the light and darkness saga!
Steven!!!! If chomp chomp or CJ makes it I reckon my head will explode 🤯
If going back through all those that you had on the show, I think Alfredo needs to come on soon
I love the idea of them taking the whole class system out of destiny. I wanna look like a hunter and use titan storm grenades while I’m icarus dashing
Can't say it enough... So glad to see this podcast on its own channel. I didn't watch a single episode on the IGN channel, but have watched every one on this channel.
Why does Travis tilt his head and lean into the mic like he’s listening to the guys from that? 😂😂
Power grind is stupid, it leads to bogus rewards, oh boy a pinnacle, a piece of junk I can infuse into the gear I’ve been rocking for 2 years, yaaaayyyyy
Now I need an extra 500 slots in the vault... So many guns man
Please stay, I get such goods vibes and nostalgia when I see fireteam chat ❤
love that you guys brought the show back!
Stephens looks like they have sunset Stevens age. he's got younger we've all ages 10 years 😂😂
I’m so glad they’re were a few I kept, I just wanted to keep them, but man I’m so glad I did!
Steven ! Great to see you again on here ! Awesome !
I JUST cleaned out my vault 3-4 weeks ago…. 😢
Fireteam chat! What a blast from the past, welcome back Guardians
Honestly, make this show bi-weekly and bring it back in full. FInal shape, episodes, possibly D3, you guys will have plenty to talk about.
Sunsetting made me quit destiny, I had my load out and my favourite 5 weapons I always used. I didn't care about min-maxing, I liked using my weapons. Can't remember if I kept them in my vault or not.
I love that some of the weapons i got and the grinds I had to get them however is 100 vault spaces enough now?
Awesome to have fireteam back! Keep it up.
I haven’t played Destiny in so long happy to see the guys back. Destiny is so Destiny lol it’s like an on again off again relationship
What ??
Back again and couldn’t be happier 👍🏻
My issue with Destiny is how much of a grind everything in the game is, but it’s compounded and even more painful when you have bad RNG, when you are rewarded less for playing more it just becomes so painful to play. Which is one of the reasons I hated sunsetting. I had to grind so much more than anyone I know because I just never got the drop. So now it’s so hard for me to care about grinding for anything in this game. The only thing I still enjoy is the campaign, even that has become unbearable because of all the step grind in the middle of the campaign.
Stevens Back!!!!1
Sooooo happy to see ya fellas again!
Now we need to do UNVAULTING (from the DCV)
Yay! Another episode!
Thank you for another show Destin and company
I miss Steven!!
Glad this goated Pod is back! 💪🏽🤝😊
The only gun I kept was my original Recluse as that took me FOREVER! Glad I did now. But still bummed about the ones I deleted. CURSE YOU DATTO!!! 😉
Im sure someone has said this but how are we not calling this sunrusung yet?
Next week, let’s go for 4!
I honestly love that FTC is back 😭
