After a great weekend at the King Ranch, we are all Hitched up and ready to head back to town. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Tow 21 thousand just about every day with my 2011 F450 I have air bags and it handles it great. I was a Dodge guy but I just orderd a 2017 F450 to replace the 2011
My family is considering getting a Keystone Montana fifth wheel, and my dad would get an F350 dually to tow it, but we've also seen a few Keystone travel trailers that are comparable or competitive in interior layout and he thinks if we have a travel trailer he could get just a single rear wheel truck. He's going to buy the truck next month, and the RV in a later month, but the RV needs to be decided before the truck. He probably wouldn't like having the extra width of a dually unless he needs to use it for a fifth wheel. He strongly believes that he should have a truck more than capable of pulling whatever RV we get (max load rating well above the actual weight it pulls), but he would prefer to not get a dually if he doesn't need it to do the job. Are there any important differences you've experienced in towing a fifth wheel versus a travel trailer long distance, uphill or downhill? Would you use different trucks for each, or does it ultimately depend on the weight?
Very nice setup!
