You can actually get a +4 enchanted weapon or a +14 (+15 if you get a slab from a lizard or wraith) before fighting any boss.

@@The4stro Yeah they really are, even more so without the gold serpent ring, or god forbid the rusted ring. Making the hydra blast the blue golems away for chunks is probably even worse, man some challenge runs have horrid setups lmao.

Came back to this video after looking up "i forgot the doll" and lo and behold the video was paused right on the moment.good job, past me.
I always thought of giving the Whip the divine aspect to make a castlevania reference. But i never got around to it.
There's a prebuilt challenge run out there based on just that, with way more wrenches thrown in to hurt you.
Thankfully, whips are pretty good in DS2. The downside is that no matter what kind of run you do in DS2, it will always be pain.

I'll be honest, it's my favorite of the series and I think it outright has the best combat. I still think DS1 is a better game just because of its map which has never really been replicated in any game but it's gameplay isn't as good or open to diverse builds.
@@XSniper74184 I totally agree with you, Anthony. The map in DS1 is legendary. I still enjoy DS1 a lot to this day, despite the combat being a little outdated compared to the rest of the souls series. DS2 has incredible combat, with rolling actually consuming stamina, and healing being super risky without proper positioning. I was annoyed how easy it was to panic roll and heal right in front of an opponent's face in DS3, especially after how well it was done in DS2. My only gripe is that I've played DS2 so many times that the early game has become such a chore to me. The DLC is spectacular! But it's like 12 to 20 hours in to unlock all 3, and I'm a little sick of Huntsman's Copse, Earthen Peak, No-man's Wharf, the Gutter, the Lost Bastille, and the Forest of Fallen Giants. Still a terrific game, tho. I've just played it to death lol
@@jushthehermit damn, I fell exactly the same about ds2 early game, I've got sick of the first areas of the game after playing it so much, post-drangleic castle + dlcs is amazing, but before that is just endless pain
Doubble poison whips are actually 1 hit poison on many mobs and players.... So whips are actually fun for pvp ^^

I've considered doing this myself but with how weak Whips are I don't want to.
But I can name a use for the Whip. Using it for the Lifehunt Scythe.
Gold Tracer and Bandits Knife are significantly better unless you’re dealing with a parry spammer.

Just tried it, your damage is like 200~ for most bosses at +15/40 dex, plus it's fast enough you can get multiple strikes if you play risky.

@@IrvineTheHunter With buffs the damage is pretty good. Especially Darkmoon Blade with 30 to 50 faith. Depending on which talisman. For 30 try Canvas and 50 and above try Darkmoon. Or just put gold pine resin.

This is probably like my 5th or 6th time coming back to this video since it came out. The whole video is entertaining but “I forgot the doll” and “that’s right cry I stole your sisters clothes” are both classics.
The first time I played Dark Souls, I was going caster when I found the whip. I farmed enough so that I could have the stats to wield it; then, made it my primary weapon. Between Arcane spells and whip combat I succeeded on my first playthrough.
To this day, whenever I play a Soulsborne I look for the whip.
My dumb little brain thought "What about Bloodborne?" But obviously it's got you covered.
A threaded cane + beast cutter run would be epic.
The random volume increases of your voice scared the absolute shit out of me, just chillin on the catwalks of Anor Londo and then just, "I FORGOT THE DOLL!!!" haha you deserve a lot more subscribers for content of this magnitude.
I mostly just use the Whip in my off-hand in my Dex builds, as they can parry and make for a decent mixup in PVP

I did this run in DS3 and had an absolute blast with it, especially how the difficulty of the bosses and enemies changes from what you are used with "normal" weapons. Some are harder, some are easier, all in all, very fun run.

The Whip is pretty useful in DS2 to destroy the poison-spitting statues. Even without the stats to "effectively" use it

The whip is a very fascinating weapon, because the more you use it, the more you learn about it, the worse you feel for using it.
I am way late to this awesome video but I do need to mention that the reason most dragons in from games arent weak to lightning is because that weakness applies to the ancient stone scale dragons who were all for the most part wiped out.

You can go back to sen’s because the demons chill at the top of the stairs and you can interact with them to fly you back
I came back to this video, because I tried it and wanted to say it was quite fun. Definitely easier than a melee SL1. Added a quick guide to my run.
I would say start with necromancer and master key cut through New Londo to get to blight town. Get your whip, and 12 twinkling titanite, +5 and Wolf Ring for Capra, +13 whip and +5 heater shield, before Sens, then get the Baulder shield +13spiked whip +5, +3 Xanthos and Giant chest piece as your main, 40 vit, 40 Dex. Dump extra levels in endurance.
Flex on everyone with with your normal whip and Ornstein's soul, and go around killing bosses to level up. Make the spiked whip +5 holy, offhand it with your main whip, to finish skeletons with your off hand. Kill the nercromancers for a skull lantern, or grab one from the pit, get the sunlight maggot from lost izalith (you don't need the shortcut.)
Kill everything four kings is seven kings but the fog ring will help. Nito's helpers can be one shoted with your +15 whip (no buff). The DLC isn't too bad I ran back to get power within and lightning resins for Artorius but I did I only tried like 4 time total 2 after getting the resin. Kalameet isn't anything special 150~ damage a strike +5 gaint + +6 Pyromancer + FAP and Havels. Manus the same with more Xanthos or maybe gaint helm +5.
I completed the run in 16~ hours which is normal for an SL1, and only 2~3 longer than a normal run for me. It wasn't easy but the whip is fast with decent stun, if you turtle and understand it'll take 30~ blows to kill most bosses it's quite fun.
Praise be the algorithm for delivering quality Dark Souls vids 4 years later

I tried to do Dark Souls 2 whips only.
While dual spotted whips can be OP sometimes, they are clunky to use. You have to wait for the animation to end until you can roll and for some reason it is as long as greatswords.
I haven't really used the whips in DS1, but I used them a lot in DS2, found them rather useful to go along rapiers, helps with the lack of cut moves in most rapiers movesets, making it hard for other players to just flank, and if they try to mantain a distance to you primary you can tap them
so suprised to see godots theme at the end. BEST ACE ATTORNEY THEME EVER
Now do this in DS2... Oh wait... Whips don't actually suck there
