Then carefully make your way out of the place; and to the blacksmith. Now you can pop a soul of a nameless soldier (800 souls) right in front of the blacksmith using this glitch and you're golden.

Prompt Swapping as showcased in the first two glitches (Merchant Purchasing and Negative Duping) does not work on console, as it requires a cursor. Quantity Using is possible by opening the 'Brightness' menu and pressing R1 shortly after. A nifty tutorial is here: ua-cam.com/video/253tDHBY8Yw/v-deo.html
reminds me of the morrowind glitch where you would swap between your weapon and a bound weapon and it would cause the level of the bound weapon to increase. usually played with a marksmen level of 300.
Speaking of unpopular discoveries, when the "look down" method was discovered in Goldeneye (saving around a second per minute by increasing fps by looking at the ground), it caused top speedrunners to stop playing the game.
Whats interesting is that i never knew another game had this menu swap or "prompt" glitch till this very moment. (Other than the 2 mentioned below, i do know of the ds1 weapon art swap though and dragon head nerfed and fat roll souls) Theres a similar glitch for fable (1) anniversary. So it seems more games can utilize this menu swap glitch as well. Even Darksiders 2 had a menu swap glitch that allows for free items and infinite currency at a cost though with another type of merchant in the game and an important item being duped too much will break progression in the game.
Of course for each game I would assume the underlying mechanics of making this work might be slightly different, but you are probably right that perhaps more ports need to examine the duality of controller and mouse plus keyboard!
I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I play Dark Souls on PC with keyboard and mouse controls. I find that any game where I have to control the character's aim and the movement at the same time is a lot more comfortable to play with keyboard and mouse. Long story short, I could never do prompt swapping because I don't use gamepads :(

this multy menu thing reminds me of PSO, you could do the same thing talking to an npc while accessing a shop menu at the same time. By doing that, you could dupe in PSO and equip multiple weapons at the same time.
Well it's not like you can make your weapons do more than the max upgrade. The fastest way to get most items in the game is farming, not pvping, which can get boring. It is pretty broken that you can get to max level in like 30 minutes but most of the time if you want to PvP now a days you have to keep yourself at a specific level anyway. It sure makes creating multiple characters easier to try out different builds.
I love the soul glitch. I sometimes want to just boot up the game and try a built and since there isn’t rosaria i just dupe the hell out my souls snd progress enough to make the build!
You can open two menus at the same time using the brightness prompt, that is correct. However, for merchants you require the mouse cursor so either use keyboard and mouse or controller and mouse. Of course, you can always bind the left mouse button to your controller but that is PC only option.
with half the things speedrunners find I wouldn't be surprised if there was a way to warp to the final boss and force the bosses hp to use that number (after setting it to zero). Though realistically From would have a different memory allocation for enemies, though I wouldn't be surprised if enemies could be overlapped (ie use one enemies stats as another's), though you would have to find a way that the memory is reused without being overwritten (maybe partially loading another area). This was discovered 3 years ago not in 2019 unless we are talking about only dsr because this glitch has been in og ds for a while there's even a vid of it 3 years ago My bad was thinking of 2 different glitches
Prompt Swap was discovered in 2019. You might be thinking about a different duping method called Quantity Storage, which was discovered in December 2017 :)
This is a very interesting discovery by the players, the whole glitch would be solved by some "if statements" or "catch() and throw() for exceptions" being implemented in the game's code, but I think the developers won't give a damn about the game anymore since it has become an old game.
Catch and throws won't do shit as they are meant to catch execution errors, which is not in the case of glitches. Those will only solve crashes to desktop, and by solving it just means hiding the error from the players. This is more of a asynchronous input race condition.
@@alan133 Oh that actually makes a lot of sense, 2 inputs may give an improper output, which is the case here. Thanks for taking the time to clarify things for me kind stranger, much love
Oh cool, I didn't know this allowed actual duplication. I knew about a "dupe" glitch that simply allowed you to use an item without consuming it, but now we can actually dupe boss souls in order to forge all the boss soul items while still keeping extra copies of the boss soul. Good for those of us with a completionist mindset. Now to find a way to get both O&S souls in a single run.
@@bignerd7683 Uh, no? You only get the soul of whichever one you kill last. Likewise, only their armor set will be available for purchase. I think the only way this could work is if you can somehow trick the game into thinking you killed one of them last, then ALT+F4 and restart the fight and kill the other one last. Kind of similar to the Asylum Demon skip. Depending on how it's coded, this might not be possible, though. It would depend if each of them have their own boolean that, when set to true, gives you their soul, vs. a single boolean for both of them that gives Ornstein's soul if false, and Smough's soul if true.
I appreciate all the work you put into making this video, but even though (or maybe because) you went into so much detail, I still don't understand how it works. Cadence of Hyrule, huh? Nice ending song
The production value on this video is insane.

Amazing stuff cata!
I struggled with the timing of the old dupe glitch (pre-remaster). I could never do this.
You can get both souls in one run just defeat smough first im pretty sure
Isn't there a shorter step-by-step "how-to" video for a simple man like me? - Edit: I'm particularly interested in the "quantity using" part (duping souls).
With this glitch i made a Max level character, its so funny
