- Something something kamehameha etc. With Dark Souls 3's weapon arts, Fromsoft turned the anime dial up to 9000, but can you beat Dark Souls 3 with weapon arts only? Probably, I am a scrub after all.

13:49 i mean technically "parry" is the weapon art of most shields so you can parry pontiff
but riposte is not a weapon art
wait, isnt it mapped to the offhand heavy attack button though?
@@kamirostorino9416 yeah, but at least that would have been a safe weapon art hit
parry is also the abyss watcher's weapon art
alternatively you can parry with some of the katanas too
The Elden Ring version of this run would be HILARIOUSLY easy. I cant wait to start seeing some ER content from this channel!
Im just messing around with run ideas at the moment but don't worry, it will come soon
the elden ring version is the any% speedrun route
unsheathed and corpse piler are pretty insane at the moment. slap tf out a malenia with just using corpse piler
In prep for elden ring, I tried my first magic playthrough of ds3.( never used it one in any game) It is 100 times harder and I absolutely hate it. Is the difference really that extreme between games? Or am I so used to smoking things with a buster sword that I am doing magic wrong?
@@nottoday9182 magic sucks ass is ds3
In theory this run shouldn’t be that bad, but with the clause of “you must use a different weapon for every boss” it becomes hell, as you either save the good weapons for the end and suffer through the early and mid stage or end up fighting Gael with a wooden club because you used the good stuff early
I mean some people do club only deprived runs for the Dark Souls series and you've gotta respect the fact they're skilled and patient enough to do it, even though it is SURELY akin to pulling teeth in terms of learning to counteract the MUCH lower starting stats and gear.
@@dantethewanderer4989 tbh I think in ds3 the club is actually a solid pve weapon choice.
@@dantethewanderer4989 the club is a great weapon
@@dantethewanderer4989 One of the coolest things about Souls and I suppose most a-rpgs really. The skill ceiling is infinite. You can beat every game at level sl/bl/rl 1 without dodging, blocking, back stepping, naked, and nothing but your barefists. It's possible as long as you have the skill, knowledge, time, and patience. Do I have those requisites to do a challenge run like that? Absolutely not.

Suggestion : To make the run fully valid, use quickstep for the final motion that puts you into plunging attack on ancient wyvern
Or just use Wolf Sword's Strong Attack Weapon Art, which puts you into a plunge attack if you do it off a ledge.
Does quickstep skill really makes you do plunging attack if you fall with it?
You know that there are two followups to most weapon arts if you either use the light of heavy attacks.

One thing that I think goes unappreciated in this game is just how cool some of the fights are, since you're too busy either getting clapped or finding some strategy that doesn't let the boss do anything. Sister Friede and Nameless King really do make it clear how much care went into this game.
DS3 is way more cinematic than the predecessors, its neat!
Honestly I don't like parrying bosses in this game. I can, I've done it before, but it's so much cooler to dodge it out
@@thirdwordbird3011 I'm inherently against parrying, idk why. I've actively avoided parrying even a single time across all three games.
In PvP though, that's a different story :p
Friede and Gael are easily one of my all time favourite boss fights.
Unappreciated? Really now? It's the first thing people mention about these games lmao
RIP the Lucerne actually has an amazing weapon art if you extend it with an R2, but it's really only useful in PvP bc most enemies in the game keep decent enough spacing for it to connect properly
_🦆_
Yeah you just need to use the weapon art then heavy it does a lot more
I know it's been like 7 months after the video and such but in case you didn't know some weapon arts like the Lucerne's ,the Sellsword Twinblades' and the Twin Axes' have a strong attack (R2/RT on controlers) follow-up that also consumes FP and therefore counts as part of the weapon art.
The Lucerne weapon art is effectively a stance too, having a follow up with both R1 or R2
Same with the Sellsword winblades and R2. But I guess not doing that is fitting with the masochism of the challenge 🤣
@@josetomascamposrobledano4618 But arguably missing the point. I mean a multi hit combo is pretty damn anime...
"only 3 lootable pale tongues "

Dark wraiths drop them
The R1 follow-up is just a regular R1, not part of the Weapon Art
@@davidmingle5910 you can’t respec too much anyways Rosario because the game itself limits you.
Did... you not know some of the weapon arts had full combos? Like the exile curved sword, the sellsword twinblades, and I'm pretty sure the lucerne...
..which is weird because he finished the full WA combo with the Ringed Knight Sword in the intro... How odd..
@@jooot_6850 yeah idk. Especially since he could have made this whole thing much easier for himself lol
Didn’t he mention that in the beginning?…
@@blakegrubb3091 He stated warcry was off the table due to it buffing your attacks for a duration, if he actually didn't count any "follow up" weapon arts the sword stance would be off the table aswell.

I really like how you show the failed strats as well. I watch a lot of challenge runs for Soulsborne games and it seems unrealistic no matter how daunting a challenge is, they usually get it on their first or second strat. I imagine there has to be more failed strats and trial & error but most of that is edited out.
I love how everyone just forgets about Gravetender :D

question: Why was L2-R2 an illegal combo? it seems like you were actively avoiding using L2-R2s like the Sellswords, Lucerne, etc. isn't L2-R2 simply *extending* your weapon art?
I think it was to do quicker attacks and to conserve FP. I noticed it too and that seemed to be a plausable reason.
@@MrItsMeMario1337 Alternatively, it is possible he didn't think of it. It's pretty easy to forget with how meh most weapon arts are and how infrequently most people use them on a normal playthrough
@@EpicGamerSetzuna it's certainly possible, but i think because he acknowledged that some of them require a heavy or light attack follow up means it must be a conscious choice to me anyways, we won't really know unless our good sir answers.
But he still uses things like stance which requires the other buttons
@@MrItsMeMario1337 I mean he used the compound bow. Which is a button combo weapon art. So I think the speed and fp conservation might be right.
I’m glad you used the aquamarine dagger and it is by far my favourite weapon. I love both it and the slave knight Gael fight so much I just use it when I fight him now
Love how, when you introduce the "Yeet" weapon art, the voice in background goes "YEEEEEEEEEEEET!" way over the top. So much attention to detail in these videos. Definitely going to rewatch this one over.

Make no mistake, I hate the bossfight too, but not because I have a rough time but because it really is just a "stat-stick" boss.
Personally, I would have named the Quake hammer weapon art "the reverse pancake" because, in motion, that's really what it is.
The reverse panQUAKE
Great video. I especially enjoyed the names you gave your weapon arts, great sense of humor lmao.
Glad these videos are getting the recognition they deserve. Your stuff is top notch! For this one though, do you have a playlist of all the music used?
Although I'm not sure why you never used the second part of some weapon arts (aka lucerne) (do you could it as a normal hit), you're still a chad. Bravo, enjoyed the vid. Nice to see someone I haven't watched yet! Editing was nice, voice was chill, video all round 10/10. Would be nice to see you get more known :D Got a sub ^-^
Edit: also using the halberd charge WA to seperate the decons apart is an alpha strat
Yeah a few people pointed out the Lucerne thing, tbh I didn't read the weapon art description properly and its not a weapon I've ever used before so thats my bad - it was only for one boss anyway so no harm done. Glad you enjoyed the vid anyway!
@@BaronsCastle yeah that's alright, learning curve and such haha its the same with the sellswords too, second wa is a lot better but either way I think it makes it more challenging! Just say it's intentional xD was a pleasure! Looking forward to whatever you do next!
I noticed he wasn't using the second parts of a lot of weapons lol, I wasn't sure if there was a reason for that or not, like the twin curved swords having two spins
I’m so happy you finished with the Frayed Blade, the most anime weapon in Dark Souls. I was getting concerned you wouldn’t use it.
I was hoping he'd use a whip
I don't like to use it because it's too weeb but damn that sword is good
You should do something like this but for the many often overlooked spells in the game, I'd love to watch that someday.
I actually really like that idea, thanks
First video I see from you and its fucking awesome. How you showed off the weapon arts with the anime stop frame and the voice was on spot. Also good pacing.
You know, you don't have to despawn hodrick. For some reason he's one of if not the only npc invader who allows you to rest at a bonfire after they invade you. As long as they aren't too close, you can rest at a bonfire and cause them to despawn.
The fire Lucerne did less damage despite attacking a tree :/
maybe the tree is into getting his testies nice and warm
@@guppysam LMAOOO

At first I read this as fire Laurence, and was confused on why you were talking about a Bloodborne boss.
i LOVE wolf's knight's greatsword. its weapon art is basically identical to lion's claw, it's SUCH a good approach tool, and hitting a full-charged heavy immediately after is just OUGH
Well it's basically ds1 abyss greatsword so 😭
I was already ready planning on dropping a like for the fantastic content... but then I heard 'Battle for the Umbran Throne' in the background during one section and that deserves a subscribe, my friend. Good stuff!
Another Great Video, especially liked the Weapon Art Exposition bits!
Sell sword Twinblades and the Lucerne’s WA can be followed up with a R2 for an extra attack that’s usually stronger than the first, at the cost of more FP.
Edit: Exile GS too
Edit 2: Astora GS as well (hard to tell if you used it or not lol)
Edit 3: Twin Axes and Greatlance too
Final Edit: was this really WA only? You wore Kirk’s gauntlets for a while.
All in all, great video.
I was very annoyed at the video because of this, because it seemed like such a normal thing to know. Overall still good tho.
Maybe he counted pressing R2 as a heavy attack
@@etikhad4754 that is not the case, you can see that he used the sword combat art r2 and r1 moves just fine.
@@presussy Yeah, I'm just trying to find another reason other than that he doesn't know about it. Granted with the sword stance you can't attack other than by pressing a button.
@@etikhad4754 but he did use the demon fist WA with the R2 extension, so he doesn't seem to have a problem with that.

@@Argamep you'll be happy to know that he did that for, in addition to stance, as Benjamin pointed out, the frayed blade (the two different attacks depend on which attack button you press), the storm ruler (weapon art only charges it, released with attack), the aquamarine dagger (weapon art only transforms the weapon, will not do anything else without attack buttons being pressed. You can also see him chain attacks in the video with it), the quakestone hammer (he heavily utilized the strong attack follow up), and the ringed knight straight sword (he even said that he was using r1),

The Lucene has a Weapon Art extension that does quite a bit of damage and if the "Stance" weapon art is allowed to use R1 and R2 then you can do it with the Lucene's weapon art. Besides that, good video. (Pretty sure the same with the spear letting YOU be the one with the annoyingly long hitbox)
