the fact that they added so much content that It actually makes the game almost feel like your playing it again for the first tame just with better starting gear and stats is incredible, I wish there was this in every souls game and that they all did it diffrently, new game play us fun but at the same time I kinda wish that there was extra content
They did do that with Armored Core 6 and I love it, ng+1 and +2 both add lots of new content and even changes the story line or certain missions. I'm on ng+2 and I got to an area where I knew there was a boss fight with a huge flying battle ship in a city, but when the fight started I flew towards it and landed a blow and then a cut scene started and a mech I had never seen before came out of nowhere and destroyed it and he was now the boss fight! That stuff has really kept me going, I'm sad that I'm close to the end of my 3rd playthrough/ 3rd ending of the game because from what I can tell that is probably the actual end of the content.
Open world go burrr, seriously they messed up so badly chasing trends with elden ring especially that stupid game of thrones promotional crap. Should have just made a proper dark souls 2 spiritual successor
Don't forget that if you manage to kill Freja on the NG+ cliff encounter before she retreats, your save will become permanently corrupted. For some reason, she's a load-bearing spider.
For those of you who don't know cliff Freja is hard coded to retreat at 50% hp and can't be damage below 50% hp as shown repeatedly in the video. So you have to use cheats in order to cause the savefile corruption.
That only happens only if you kill with petrification, which is only achievable with a cheat table. If you kill by any other means, nothing abnormal happens. If you watched (or remembered certain details) Zullie's video, you'd know this, meaning no offence of course.

Add to the Forlorn invaders which could spawn *anywhere*, and your NG+ playthrough could feel much different from your NG. I wish they'd done similar measures in Elden Ring.

I much preferred DS2's approach to fanservice than DS3. Lots of sets and weapons from DS1 could still be found in the game but the majority of it was hidden from plain view through the NG cycle etc, which let DS2 have its own look and feel on the surface but all the DS1 stuff still obtainable (and lore). Whereas DS3 was just memberberries from start to finish
They only made 3 such aggressive fanservice because the "look and feel" of DS2 fell flat on its face. They didn't have confidence in making something new, so they leaned hard on nostalgia to avoid making the mistake of DS2 again.
At the time people weren't happy with the idea that the games difficulty often stemmed from adding more enemies rather than the bosses being genuinely tough on their own. like the bell gargoyles going from 2, to 8. Minions being spawned in boss rooms. So they likely scrapped actually altering later playthroughs to be safe. I did like that if you beat the game either without dying or without using a bonfire, it awarded you a ring. one made your left weapon invisible, the other the right one.
I'm 100% sure that the healer Amana priestess is in the base game, it's been a while but I'm pretty sure she's just before the third bonfire of the area, in the Scholar version at least
I only ever play base NG in Dark Souls and recall the unarmed priestess being there, I remember following her around a bit when I realized she was harmless when alone.
in scholar there's 2, one just before the third bonfire (on the small indent left of fog gate) and one just after (surrounded by both archdrake and priestess and couple of lizardmen for good measure)
I can confirm that there are at least 2 of them in NG0 in SOTFS, the first is located in the last gank before the cave with the bonfire and the bugs, and the second is located in the arena right after the bugs
I still think the way NG+ was done had some inspiration from the Gravelord system in Dark Souls 1 (where in NG+ the red phanom enemies would appear when gravelorded), but man did I really enjoy the fact they properly changed it up. For all Dark Souls 2s issues, it has my most play time for a few reasons and NG+s actually being interesting (and worthwhile) is among them.

First time I played Dark Souls II I knew it was the best and also knew as time went by folks would see the genius behind it. Everyone bashing it now love the game from circle of friends
YES I am all here for dark souls 2 praise 😩 I seriously think the game and lore are super underrated. The discovery that the age of fire or darkness is a cycle by showcasing it in a completely new setting is honestly such good storytelling.
Everytime I hear someone praise DS2, lore would be up in the list for most people so I don't think it's underrated. Sekiro is by far the most underrated lore-wise in comparison, not many people hold it in high regard on that aspect.
This is why I love Grime so much, they made so many boss and enemy changes for their "NG+", and it makes me long for more from FromSoft's NG+'s in their games
The lore behind NG+ was that with every cycle, you got deeper into said cycle and started to thread through fabric of reality. Thats why you also meet seldom "lost" enemies in form of red phantoms. Dark souls 2 best souls.
Wasn't there also some stuff about a set that only drops in +5 or something I think it was from the spear guys outside the looking glass knight boss door Though that might've been the base game, it has been quite a some time
@@MadjGB There's stuff that keeps getting added up to NG+8, I believe It's dramatically less per cycle after the first, and I forget if there's any dead cycles in there. But also Item Discovery keeps increasing per cycle up to +8
There's a game called Steelrising. It's a soulslike set during alternative history French revolution, where you're playing an automaton dancer/bodyguard of queen Marie-Antoinette, fighting against an automaton army of Clockwork King Ludovic. In Steelrising NG+, there's new types of enemies with new tricks (not just reskins, they have new weapons and moves, too), new weapons and new modules (kinda like rings in DS). DS2 had a lot of small, yet cool ideas shown in this video and I think would have been more appreciated in a better game, so thanks for showcasing it all!
The structure of next games simply won't allow these challenges. Firelink in DS3 isn't connected to the other world so without bonfire you can't move anywhere and ER is simply way to huge. Also these games doesn't have lifegems so good luck finishing them without healing
Im replaying DS2 right now, and I believe it's my first time doing NG+ all the way through. I hadn't been on it for several years. I just got to the drangelic castle, and I was surprised to see 2 pursuers, lol. Im level 220 now. Im power stancing 2 great clubs, and theres still plenty of enemys that can survattackpower attack. I've got like 61 in Strength, and it's hitting for over 1k damage. To me, this is the hardest souls game, but I still really enjoy it.

I love this Freja Undertale sequence, it really shows how much care you put into this videos, BEAR SEEK SEEK LEST lmao. Almost as much effort as HIDING MIRACLE BUILDS FROM US
DS2 is not only a huge game with lots of content and lots of stuff to do, they actually improved all of that and added extremely tricky layers of complexity to the NG+, to the point that it looks almost revamped, very much improved and definitely more complicated. One good example is the fight with the Lost Sinner, where two piro invaders show up to the fight, making stuff at least thrice as hard, now. It was, for me, the real form of Dark Souls II, with the initial run just being a warm up.
It’s not just ng+ where they changed it up. I found new enemies in ng+ through ng+7. For example, there’s a Red phantom Smelter Warrior outside Fume in ng+7. Or how they add more red Phantoms, one by one, outside Blue Smelter, each cycle. I tend to not think of it as ng+, because you can target a specific bonfire, and raise it up to your heart’s content. Like a Mage build that wants multiple copies of Freja’s Old Paledrake soul. Another fun example is a Rat Covenant member could raise the bonfire intensity of their PvP arenas, so the grey player that got summoned would have to face seriously deadly mobs. Remember to wear the Agape ring while you do this, so your soul memory stays at the same tier as ng! ng+ was a customizable system, that allowed you to play the game in numerous ways, because of the Bonfire Ascetic. And the devs encouraged their use by adding so much new content.
It's stunningly pathetic just how angry soulborne fans get when this game comes up. They'll act like being the worst souls game (it probably isn't) is some unforgivable crime, and here you are still making awesome content in it's honor. Miyazaki saw a great a idea and decided to take it for the next game, ds2's dev team was really good even if people love to say it was the worst souls.

A huge part of why DS2's replayability matters so much is because of Soul Memory. Before the Agape Ring, people interested in multiplayer would be incentivized to continue progressing their game to follow the rough soul progression of most players, including into NG+'s! You always had a reason to keep upgrading your character and progressing the game, until you wanted a new character. I think it was pretty healthy for the multiplayer community, keeping a healthy population at all stages of the game versus just one hub.
@Dood3dge well you gotta figure it's the communities fault it happened. Too many players relied entirely on invading low level players with endgame gear to get their pvp kills. Soul memory was made to stop that from happening, and it did unless you cheated it. That being said, there's no reason not to get as many souls as possible to make sure everyone's in the top tier for matchmaking. Don't like fighting a lvl300 at lvl90? Maybe don't sit at lvl90.
Been preaching this for years, thanks for backing me up, Old Man. The saddest thing is that, in terms of difficulty bringing it back, it would be (mostly) very little work for developers. It's mostly just a state check and then turning on some spawns, items, etc. All the pieces are always there, I'm just sad they've never revisited it.

I never understood why DS2's NG+ model was never used again.
I remember one healing everyone while I was getting ganked. I think it's in the regular version of the game with no NG+.
In SoTFS there's two in ng. Base game she only appears in ng+
Which got that idea from the Tendency system of Demon’s Souls adding new encounters and items exclusive to dark or light world.

A couple of the skeletons seemingly have "insolent" equipment/armour; "relics of a party of once-proud clerics, they once attempted to subdue the undead-crypt...for this reason their deaths stand postponed; sentries to protect it from greater extrusions/attacks", they're seemingly graverobbers; hence the royal artifacts (I've long-since thought that Vendrick's resting place, was once the Royal Crypt; hence its location in the underground part of the Drangliec Castle area), the Undead Crypt reflects Vendrick's/the story of his kingdom thematically well.
They're in Majulas mansion basement also, the same one holding the smashed Lord-vessel. Interesting... Majula is an abandoned encampment/settlement/town on the road towards Drangliecs Castle abode. I love this aspect of the game so much! It's been unironically breathtaking to find all the new items and enemies when playing on NG+ for the very first time.
Incredible editing as always :D
I love how onlywaifu got people to play ds2 again cause he mentioned how kickass pvp was.
After seeing the uptick in online activity made my heart fly.
Yes. I was disappointed first in DS3 and then in ER that there are no changes in NG+. And doing no deaths-no bonfire run was fun.
I love this Freja Undertale sequence, it really shows how much care you put into this videos, BEAR SEEK SEEK LEST lmao. Almost as much effort as HIDING MIRACLE BUILDS FROM US
You are going to get a lot more content out of DS2 than any of the others. Its an awesome game and a true sequal.
Only a few seek, a deepee dark.
The memes, music, and references to old videos always land perfectly.
The editing of this videos is sick!
Oh boy oh boy! Another juicy DS2 video from Limit Breakers
People only hate on DS2 for the weird roll physics and the content creators back then constantly bashing on soul memory based PvP
Your videos are of great value to me! Alot of humor, Alot of wit, I'm excited evertime i see a video pop up
It's stunningly pathetic just how angry soulborne fans get when this game comes up. They'll act like being the worst souls game (it probably isn't) is some unforgivable crime, and here you are still making awesome content in it's honor. Old Man you are the fucking GOAT of soulsborne youtubers. Bar none.
So True
I prefer Ds2 to all the other Souls series. And I get them.rxtta mad because I prefer Nioh 1 and Nioh 2 to the other Souls games also.
The production quality here is just insane
I'll never be embarrassed to admit that DS2 is still one of my favorite FromSoft games.
This Freya encounter is similar to Midir encounter for me, anyone noticed this too?
Miyazaki saw a great a idea and decided to take it for the next game, ds2's dev team was really good even if people love to say it was the worst souls.
@@juanferandrade2117 Worst souls, still a decent game
DS3 noob spotted
I never noticed this. That's amazing.
@@juanferandrade2117 One thing that doesn't get appreciated enough is how weapons are upgraded. A huge step up over the overly complex DS1. I don't particularly like Heavy, Sharp and Refined infusions, it just makes it more complicated than it should be
That might be top 10 best intros in any video ever
Hey man, I also think Dark Souls 2 was the franchise's best time ever. So much creativity, so many memories. Plus the movement of the genre, the game was able to accommodate new ideas, if not all of them were cool, but most of them. I miss that time.
that painting guardian is not the only red phantom that doesnt ever respawn and doesnt drop their whole set after death. theres one on the boat at the end of dead mans wharf. i remember this cause i tried to farm him tons of times cause his set is super cool, its a visible version of a invisible armor you get in the base game
I don't even know how it's possible to produce such quality videos, especially while they're still really informative. Fantastic work, grandpa
The discussion nobody wanted cuz they hate to admit it😂
DS 2 is my most replayed entry in all soulsborne games.
The maps variety, unique item variety and even starting paths made your head spin at first.
Then playin mundane mushy gray ds3 makes ds2 even better.
Oh God when I saw how ds3 was considered the best all I had were flashbacks to brown and gray like someone shat on a rock and called it the best souls game. Just goes to show the fan base doesn't want challenge, it wants giant bosses in big square rooms and unlimited stamina from the start. I literally never leveled stamina once and never struggled. Such a casual experience.
@@stinkfinga4918i clearly remember them in interviews discussing making this next title (DS3) more accessible to newcomers.
Lots more advertising, game felt more commercial overall..followed that same appeal for Elden Ring, most likely building a pre fan base ahead of time
DS2 is still inferior to ds3 in quite literally everything lmao
If miyazaki made DS2 shrine of Amana would have been a poinson swamp. He hates the game because all it got is one small pool at start of Earthen peak.
Miyazaki hate so much ds2 that elden ring is ds2 🙄
Actually he was quoted as saying he was forced off ds2 against his wishes, and forced onto ds3 against his wishes. I think he wants to do other things lol
wait a minute, hold up, you got some !!!MISINFO!!!!
***!!!THE PAINTED GUARDIAN SET, YOU DO NOT NEED TO FIGHT THE BOSS EVERYTIME YOU CAN KEEP POPPING AESTHETICS, AND THE CATARINA SET IS ALSO IN A SIMILAR SITUATION!!!!***
I wanna seggs this commint
The editing between this and the last video is absolutely fantastic. Love in every stitch.
The nil curve sword fact is so cool I never knew it scaled like that and probably would’ve never known
These are fun.
Ds2 is my favorite one, but I’m learning more as time goes on.
4:27 Miyazaki was not involved in Dark Souls 2, bro...
He was a supervisor, bro...
Best From game ever. I love what they carried forward like dual wielding but miss the NG+ stuff
Tbf elden ring dont have power stance, it has Dual wielding, meanwhile in ds2 weapons to the left are rlly good even w/o power stance, and then thx to the power stance we even have more movesets 💗
(as well weapon arts and even parry with weapons)
@@AtreyusNinja i knew that would come up, and yeah Ds2 did it way better than ER. I just wish I could hop on and get the same amount of invasions, duels, and co op I do on ER.
* Painting Guardian only drops 1 item at a time
* Drops can repeat
* Drops pulled from standard table
* Doesn't respawn, requiring Bonfire Ascetic to be burned
* Have to beat the boss to get to burn the next one
Great job, B Team.
So much time and effort went into this, holy crap.
So many things to appreciate in this game. And damn, that unique Shadow's mask looks so cool! We need that in Elden Ring!
Soul Memory was dreadful, possibly the worst feature in the game.
@@LeonV777 small minded take, my dude.
@@monsieurdorgat6864 It was a trash feature, don't delude yourself.
@@LeonV777 Mate, you just heard that opinion and stuck with it without ever thinking about it.
Editing on this whole video made me laugh so hard. Great stuff and spot on!
Great nostalgic video. Last time I watched one of your videos many years ago, it was a beefy sorcerer build. Couple days ago rediscovered your channel.
"My brother in christ, you're the one that sold me this set" 😂
