    Not using a dado on the shelf board was pretty cool. Learned from that alternative method and makes me think about other ways I could apply it. Solid over that long span is a big deal to me for longevity.

    Great looking coat rack. At the start of the cutting you placed the lengths of tape down and cut through them. I didn't see you mark out anything on them like you did for the brass rod holes. What did you use the tape for if not for marking measurements?

    • @dpmakestuff
      @dpmakestuff  8 років тому

      I set the measurements on the table saw, the tape keeps the plywood from tearing out.

    • @gnuthad
      @gnuthad 8 років тому

      +Dustin Penner Well that explains why I can never seem to get a really good cut in ply when using my circular saw. Thanks for that, I will do the same in future.

    Nice project! I've got a question. I really want to get into doing some woodworking, but other than a hand drill, I've got no tools. I'm in high school so I can't just get whatever, but do you guys think I should get a miter saw or a bench top table saw first? Thanks

    • @dpmakestuff
      @dpmakestuff  8 років тому

      +TheTranq Bandsaw if you want to do curves, Tablesaw for everything else. If it was me, I would get a tablesaw and build a sled. That will do 90% of what need with some creativity.

    • @TheTranq
