  • Levels Co-Founder Casey Means, MD, and “Glucose Goddess” Jessie Inchauspé talked about all things glucose, including Inchauspé’s top hacks for better blood sugar control.
    ✅ The Glucose Goddess hacks:
    - Have a savory breakfast (not a sweet one).
    - Eat your veggies first at every meal.
    - Never eat sugar on an empty stomach (only as dessert after a meal).
    - After you eat, use your muscles for 10 minutes (e.g., go for a 10-minute walk).
    - Have some apple cider vinegar diluted in water before a meal.
    - Put clothing on your carbs (i.e., eat them with fat, protein, and fiber)
    - Have a savory snack instead of a sweet one.

      She actually said that after she said "Never eat sugar on an empty stomach," and so "always have dessert AFTER a meal" was just an example of the previous rule.😉 Sorry🤣😟

When I was pregnant and developed gestational diabetes I was put on a different diet by a dietician to control my blood sugar levels. Really? Then why are so many Indians so thick from the waistline? People eat aaloo k parathe and poori sabzi for breakfast on a regular basis.
      Then for lunch and dinner, so much ghee and oil is used, which is then topped by a tadka. Besides that evening snacks are also there with milk tea which has a lot of sugar which brings out the flavour of the adrak. And the sweets are there obviously. Indian food no doubt is unbelievably delicious, but it is heavy on the waistline

    I never wanted to eat something sweet/sugary in the morning, its just a gut feeling that I've always had, because something sweet always upset my stomach or defined every other meal in a bad way for that day. As for a walk - instead of that I just clean the kitchen (if I didnt already do it while making a lunch) or anything, just so I dont lay down immediatelly after a lunch. But I've never read about that, its just my body sensory - as you age, you start to listening it better.

    I’ve lost a stone in 4 weeks from stopping all sugar and high carb fruits and pasta rice etc. it works x I tried to add a low carb, low sugar smoothie recipe here 3 times, but it removed it each time. Just stop high carbs, sugar and drink 2 litres of water per day.

      Can you share what you eat for break ... ad food thru out day?

    • @roxblue5
      @roxblue5 Місяць тому

      @@joanneclark8256 Basically, you have to eat foods that do not spike your blood sugar high, so, you need to eat no sugar. I cut out all sugar, and high carb fruits like bananas and also any honey. Instead, I do a smoothie in the morning of: 1 apple, handfull of spinach, tablespoon of chia seeds, handful of sunflower seeds, handful of pumpkin seeds, 3 brazil nuts, a few blueberries and a few raspberries. Add Almond milk and a bit of water, then mix into a smoothie. It's not sweet, but it is full of goodness and energy. Then, for lunch, I'll keep it low carb, eg chicken salad with loads of veggies or gluten free toast and poached eggs. If you just keep the sugar out of your meals and cut out white refined bread, pasta and rice, and make sure you eat loads of healthy unprocessed food, it will come off. The aim is to also get your gut Microbiome healthy. Watch 'hack your health' on netflix to understand this. Honestly, cut out all sugar and you will thank me. I've been trying for ages and this is the only thing that's worked. Let me know how you get on! xx

    • @roxblue5
      @roxblue5 Місяць тому

      @@joanneclark8256 I did respond but it's disappeared!
      Just remove all sugar. So no honey, agave, maple syrup, or bananas. The only fruit to have is apple and berries only as these are lower carbs than other fruits, none of the high carb fruits (like banana). No bread, no rice, no pasta, no cookies etc. Stick to whole foods that are natural, not processed.
      Breakfast smoothie: This is what I have.
      1 apple
      Handful of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries or a few of each.
      Handful of Spinach
      Half an Avocado
      Tablespoon of chia seeds
      Teaspoon of sunflower seeds
      Teaspoon of pumpkin seeds
      3 brazil nuts
      Few walnuts and almonds
      Organic Almond Milk
      Water
      Blend this in a Nutribullet or Blender until smooth. Enjoy.
      The key is to get your gut microbiome really healthy, then you don't crave sugar.
      See how you go with the smoothie. Then for lunch, the same, low carb and no sugar, salads, vegetables, I allow a little bit of cheddar cheese on my cooked vegetables. There are tons of healthy recipes. The trick and absolute key is no sugar, low carb and drink 2 litres of filtered (not bottled) water every day.
      Don't snack. If you do, handful of nuts.
      Get nut butter! I eat no sugar peanut butter as a snack.
      Also try intermittent fasting and stop eating at 6pm and just drink water after that. You will see the weight come off. BUT. If it's a week before your period, your body wants to hold on to weight, so don't do any fasting then, only after menstruation. Look up Dr Mindy Pelz for this info.
      Let me know how you get on.
      Roxy xx

      But fruits are not usually what you think about when talking about desert, it’s cakes & such (carbs/sugar). Fruits should be eaten as a snack.

    • @sarahpryka3960
      @sarahpryka3960 4 місяці тому +3

      This doesn't sound correct. The body simply absorbs sugar once it is broken down. What "ferments" are fibers that our body can't break down but that feed our microbiome. Of course, if You've got issues with your gut, recently had to take antibiotics or such things, you might have more problems digesting lots of fiber.
      Also, food in your intestines doesn't really stay in the order in which you eat it, it just gets mixed around and components that are broken down more easily (= foods with little fiber) go through faster.
      Of course, there is always a chance that certain foods make anyone in particular gassy, based on individual sensitivities and your microbiome.

If i eat sugar in the morning i get so low i wont have energy. But if i eat a savory meal with wholegrain bread i will feel much better and i will be full for longer.
    If because of my arfid i dont really feel like eatingany of the savory things that i usually eat because i get nausious i will not eat anything at all because thats sometimes better then the low after eating something sugary.

      Obesity is the biggest cause of those 2 things so for any in that category, consuming less calories and getting some exercise is more important than a specific diet.
      For those within a healthy weight range, the next steps are to reduce sodium, sugar, and saturated fats while increasing fiber and unsaturated fats.
      If the basics (not overweight. some exercise, decent eating habits) are already covered, you need to have a doctor take a closer look at your blood work and lifestyle to find the cause.

    • @mohammadss5173

      Spike it by how much ?
      Compared to all other fruit it would have the least impact on blood sugar effect.
      On healthy individuals, I don’t think it will raise the peak for more than 5mg/dl - 10 mg/dl which is very minimal.
      Unless if you talk about avocado juice with 2 or three fruits , that would be a different case

      From the Medical News Today: "Compared to other fruits, avocados contain very little sugar. Half an avocado, or 100 g, contains just 0.66 g of sugar, which includes glucose, fructose, sucrose, and galactose. The net digestible carbs are only 1.8 g for each 100 g of avocado"

You will lack too many micronutrients eating only meat.
