    I agree with you 100%. We go through all of the hoops to follow the regulations and then these idiots who don't care and often don't get caught so there are no reprocussions. It's very annoying.

      I bring a back braking amount of camera gear to produce the best video possible. Took me like 2 weeks to get a permit to film then I see a ding dong 10 feet off the trail flying... I gave him a warning if he put it away I wouldn't have put him in the video.

      you prolly do 48 in a 50 zone too... learn to live a little, a drone being flown in a harmless was is... by definition, HARMLESS. if he were flying it like a racecopter, yeah then youd be reasonable but hes grabbing cool slow footy, what is your problem with that?

    This was presented and narrated brilliantly bud, drones can sometimes be annoying for other people, that's why I try to fly when I'm mostly alone on the trail.

      It's not just about being annoying to other people, it's about the fact that they harass the wildlife.

    Last time I was at Lake Louise was years ago with my 2 youngest kiddos. I don't remember having to pay for parking back then. That's crazy!! We were admiring the beautiful view when all of a sudden it began to pour rain! Like buckets!!! People were scrambling for cover! The kids and I just stood and got soaked! It was awesome!! One of those memories the kids still talk about all these years later. It sure is crowded. Sad, but understandable. People want to see Canada's beautiful places. I'm just glad there are still many places that haven't become tourist stops and we can still get back into the 'real' Canadian wilderness. I'm so glad you confronted the 'idiots'. I also invested in a 360 camera and use a 9 foot selfie stick to get drone like shots. People always ask about it when I use it in public spots and it gets some great shots. YT is hard and I agree, it's unfair when 'idiots' break rules. Enjoying your journey! Take care, drive safe and hoping your leg holds out!

      The further you get away from the lake the less people you see. From sunrise to sunset though that lake is slammed with people. I'm just tired of amateur flyers breaking rules which in turn get more strict.

    I also confronted someone in a National park in Utah, flying a drone. He claimed he didn't know it was illegal, but never put the drone away. I said our group hiked up here to enjoy the view and quietness, not to hear the drone, maybe that's why it's illegal...but he didn't care. Glad you confronted him. I just bought my first drone a week ago, but I've known about that rule for years before even owning one. Nice hikes! How long did it take you to hike up to the tea house? I was there a few years ago and it took us a while as we're slow hikers. LOVED the six glacier plain hike though. Very scenic.

      The drone laws in America are different than Canada. In Canada you need to be 100 feet horizontally away from people in America there is no rule about that only that you can't fly over people which allows drone flights to happen right next to people. Regardless they are banned in National Parks and i know the parks down there dish out the fines without hesitation. The age old discussion about drones being noisy, dogs barking, people using speakers... the only option is to do things off the beaten path or go at an unruly hour like 5am. In general I rarely fly near people if I need to I ask them first if they are cool with me flying for 5 minutes etc. A lot of amateur flyers don't care and break all the rules as usual. From lake louise to the agnes tea house was about an hour, from devils thumb to 6 plains tea house was also an hour. My entire day was 11+ hours which you'll see in part 2.

      @@IdRatherBeHiking Ah, ok, didn't know about those specific rules. This was in Arches National Park, and there were signs everywhere no drones...so the guy was just being an idiot. Wow long day of hiking. You must not stop that much to catch your breath. Love your videos.

      @@LiveLifeLori Ya flying in arches in a big no no, I'd love to fly around delicate arch but that isn't happening. Most of the amateur flyers know the basics like no flying in national parks yet just ignore the rules. If they are flying to post on social media then they need a part 107 license which is 10x harder of a test then the one in Canada. I had to study for 2 weeks to ace that test. Ya i don't stop all day pretty much, walk forward, backward pick up camera run run catch up. It was a rare situation you'll see in episode 2 where I take a 15 minute break and sit and eat as I start to bonk doing the 6 plains of glaciers.

    Banff and Lake Louise are some of my old stomping grounds from way back. As beautiful as it still is, it is sad to see how busy it is. The experience isn't he same when it's crawling with people, feels more like an amusement park than nature.

    It's true, a lot of people don't bother to learn the rules, and don't follow them! There are a lot of things around public and federal lands that people think don't apply to them, especially when it comes to being a business.

      not to mention drone must be operated at least 30 meters horizontally from bystanders unless they are visual observers within that party. Why he was flying 10 feet off the trail on a lower ledge where everyone can see it is beyond me?? These amateur flyers are the reason the rules are so strict now.

    People flying drones illegally drives me nuts but my biggest pet peeve , are people with dogs off leash. the rules are there for a reason l but most think the rules apply to everyone else not them. I have called people out many times for drone use, and have walked peoples dogs back down the trail when found roaming loose. only to be confronted by angry owners. to bad so sad I would rather do that than have yet another dead bear/conflict because of some careless dog owner. sadly this last weekend just shows what a dog/bear encounter can end up in. and we lost yet another grizzly and also 3 black bears one sow and 2 cubs over the weekend.

    • @davebloggs
      @davebloggs Рік тому

      @@IdRatherBeHiking I would be very surprised if they didnt as they seem to be quite experience back country campers, but they did have a dog with them and I would put a large bet on that that is what triggered the attack., a bear sees a dog as food claims it as food and wants it, the dog runs back to the owners hey presto a bad bear encounter , and even with bear spray a mad grizzly can easily take out this group and the dog, a normal relaxed bear is going to head out real fast with a face full of bear spray its about the best defence there is where both side get to live however if the bear is very hungry which they are this time of year and sees the people as getting in the way of its claimed food, that is never going to end well at all. very sad all round and we lost yet another bear., leave the dogs at home in spring and fall, and if people have to take them keep then on a leash at all times.
