Wow! Happy birthday! And congratulations on such an epic accomplishment! My wife and I were blown away by your video that showcased the beautiful scenery and terrain of your hike. Thanks for posting and inspiring others. Your perseverance will undoubtably give many that extra nudge to move forward with attaining such goals too.
David, I appreciate your honest approach. I feel as if I can relate with the desire to push yourself physically and mentally, pushing past your fears and self doubt. We live in the same town, and I grew up here, but it was your videos that inspired me to get out and climb several of the same peaks. So thank you for what you do. I look forward to your videos and happy (belated) birthday!
Cheers Jon, so many great mountains around here (van island) I'll be filming more new stuff around here soon. Stay tuned I break my fear limits multiple times in the summer here.
What a great video! Awesome job getting it all done. You should be proud. I came across your channel as I was looking to see what ha ling was like and yours was by far the best footage. Hope to see you on the trails one time. Look forward to the next video
Cheers friend. Ya that's how I started out with this I made a promise if I was going to give it a go at making adventure videos I had to produce equal to or better footage they anyone else on youtube. Whether I succeed every time is probably unlikely as there's some good stuff out there but that's what I strive to do for each video.
Happy 40th Birthday! I think doing a huge personal accomplishment like this for a birthday is awesome. I did the same thing last year when I turned 50yrs, I decided to do the Peru Salkantay Trek hike. Such a gift to give yourself. Hike looks amazing, and brought back memories when I did the six glacier hike 2 yrs ago. That was the hike that made me fall in love with mountains. The Devil's thumb looked soo scary though.
Hey enjoyed talking with you in person at Healy Creek campground on your way out to Sunshine Parking lot. Hope rest of your trip on the Icefields Parkway worked out (Parker Ridge or Wilcox Pass??) Enjoying your videos . Belated Happy B day. Thanks for sharing. Cheers😃
Oh hey, likewise. I did parker ridge that is going to be a good video in itself there's an oldtimers photo taken around that area so I did a lot of climbing around there in gale force winds to get that shot. How was your trip up Healy?
STRAVA,, LOL. Congratulations on that amazing hike/ trail run, you killed it. Thanks for the amazing pictures, that was amazing to see the difference of a hundred plus years of glacial melt. Most importantly , Happy Birthday.
What you said on Devils Thumb really hit me. I feel the same, always wanting to accomplish something and feeling disappointed but when we hike we find our own accomplishment and our own pride in ourselves. Thanks for this lovely video. I will have to go back to lake louise and try these trails 👣 😀
Now that is some seriously gorgeous scenery. Well done👍 when I do hikes like that, I typically wear gloves sometimes with uncovered fingertips. Very helpful on those steep scrambly sections
That is an insane hike! 😮 Congrats on completing that... especially in grizzly country, alone with a fear of heights! One of my goals is to complete wild hikes like that, but I also have a fear of heights and am working to get rid of it through gradual exposure to it. Congrats again!
@@IdRatherBeHiking We didn't do Temple, Ha Ling was enough for us. We did this hike here also, but modified with just Big Bee Hive and the two tea houses with the mom. Had a great time!
you have every right to do what you want to do and over come your fears. and you did it. with what you did you did it and i am proud of you moose on the loose you did awesome you can do anything you set your mind on to for. full love ya and keep going.
Happy belated birthday!! What a splendid ( and scary!) way to celebrate! I celebrated my 60th last year and went on my first car camping trip for it! I've been hooked ever since!
Happy birthday my friend! What a fantastic video! I am a Nigerian |Brit over here in the UK! We have the Lake District, but it does not compare to Canadian wonders!!!!!! I have visited your wonderful country 8 times, mainly British Columbia and i love hiking!!!! I will be coming over to Canada again this Christmas and i will be hiking all over B.C. next summer Keep up the good work bro, love & respect, from your Nigerian brother, over ere in the UK! P.S. Sorry about my late reply to your birthday, i only came across your channel as of today!
Just did Big Beehive and Devils Thumb in one day. The thumb trek was insanely hard going up. Thank god I had a pole w me so going down was much easier. No one should be throwing shade. It’s legit difficult w the pseudo-bouldering and scrambles w no definite trail markers outside of small orange string since it’s not an official trail.
Devils thumb is the scariest? 😂😂😂. I know 75 year old hiker-only people who had not problem gojng up the WIDE trail and then about 5 minute dirt hill. Only your fish eye lens makes it look narrow. Lol…. Never seen anyone hanging on it the side either. By the way, for people that haven’t been there - the slope isn’t sheer on the drop either!! It’s a steep grass slope and if you managed to “fall” off (walk right off), you’d slide about 2-6 feet and … well that’s about it. Talk about drama-queen stuff. On any busy day you’ll find little kids, dogs, seniors, and your aunt Gertrude on devils thumb. On behalf of locals here - go away.
In case anyone doesn’t believe me, here’s s non-drama version that came up first on a search. Lol… bunch of seniors out for a nice walk. Anyone who finds this scary and nerve-wracking should not be giving advice or posting vids. This is steep class 1 hiking. ua-cam.com/video/QX0_S3lA4BI/v-deo.htmlsi=VrQgPITJKsBk3RKX
haha crazy, naa I'm not dead but you might think I would be with the new few hikes coming up. I was looking to challenge myself but wow.. ya you'll see spicy stuff.
As for me my mother got the floors done; a lot of my things are outside and a hurricane is approaching… well they say it will be a tropical storm I looked outside and every half a second there was lightning two miles off.
Yeah it turned out to be a tropical storm my stuff is fine and we’re getting the flooring done today so I can bring it back soon; it was so frightening at the time though.
These hikes provide epiphany moments, terrified of heights and bears but still hike daily, bravo to you for also overcoming your fears!
Happy belated Birthday, David. 😊
Cheers thanks Kriss!

Excellent video David, happy belated birthday. Devils thumb definitely looked sketchy.
thanks Chris! It was sketchy.. stay tuned I've got more.. WAY more sketchy stuff coming
Now that is some seriously gorgeous scenery. Well done👍 when I do hikes like that, I typically wear gloves sometimes with uncovered fingertips. Very helpful on those steep scrambly sections
Agreed, I do have a pair I forgot to pack them that day. They would have really helped up that scramble for sure.
@@IdRatherBeHiking a pair of gloves👍
Wow! Happy birthday and congratulations for making it to the top. There were some terrifying spots for sure. So beautiful!
Ya that edge wall must have lasted at least 1/2 km... 1/2 km of terror haha. Never done anything like that before
Amazing hike. It looked a bit scary! Thanks for sharing your adventure. Happy Birthday 🎉

I’m going to Banff next week. Going to try to hike Mount Temple. We see you!
I'd love to try that one, I think its on the edge for me a definitely maybe maybe not in my wheelhouse. Good luck!

What a fantastic adventure, great work on that end sprint. Happy 40th!
Cheers friend, ya I definitely trying to find a way to film and run so I can cover more distance. This was the start of that.
Well done and Cheers for your birthday! Every day is a blessing as is every adventure. Celebrate your birthday every day of the year.

Did Crib Goch at 15 in Chucks. Sorry but i cannot take this serious.
Still nice to see you doing something outdoors.
I have no idea what you are saying. Is that some sort of climbing route? I've just completed 253rd mountain in the past 6 years.
Happy Birthday! Yes that was scary but so worth it.
It really was so worth it
