I was one of those runners!! We stayed in Inverie so got to have more than 1 pint. The run back out was tough, self inflicted as well as meteorological
Many years I was the school dentist and my patch covered the Inner Hebrides and Inverie. Normally I would take a boat but I decided it would be more fun to walk in to inverie. So with dental equipment in the rucksack, I walked in on Sunday , camped and turned up at the school to everyone's' surprise. Not only did I see the kids but a number of adults turned up as well. Pulling teeth in someone's kitchen was a new experience. Job done and then a long walk out. No time to visit the pub but a very memorable couple of days.
In truth, there was no wind as they stumbled back from the pub. What they claimed to see was nothing more than the fanciful tricks of their minds, dulled by the excesses of drink. Fun idea! Well done! 👏
Great video! Interesting route in from the end of that road. My hiking partner and I opted to hike 3 days one way into Inverie from Glenfinnan. There was considerably more climbing - 800m Day 1, 370m Day 2, and 775m on Day 3 getting into Inverie. There's an old rail sleeper car in Glenfinnan that was very quaint where we stayed before heading out the following morning. Some local spots to check out (Jacobite Monument, Glenfinnan viaduct (though you would hike directly under this on route to Inverie) and he Glenfinnan House Hotel (wonderful meals). In the end we opted to take the ferry back to Mallaig, and rail back to Glasgow before flying home to Canada after a couple nights. The Old Forge was an unreal experience on our last night in Inverie. Friends we made at the Bunkhouse ended up getting engaged on the makeshift dancefloor in the pub, dancing to live music played by 9 musicians who sailed in on a tall ship. Definitely looking to make this hike at least once more.
5:45 Tom says the Scotish scenery is one of the best of the world. As a man who visited around 65 countries from Svalbard down to Patagonia I say yes he is right. All the best guys.
I went to a remote pub once. It was on zoom during Covid 🍻 very difficult hiking conditions from the sofa to the fridge. Also Harry is a storytelling master 🤝
What an epic adventure! 😍Hiking 50km through the Scottish Highlands just to reach Britain’s most remote pub is quite the journey. The Knoydart peninsula looks rugged and beautiful - definitely not an easy trek, but I’m sure that pint at the Old Forge was well-earned! Thanks for sharing this incredible experience. Cheers, Simon - Tales From Abroad
Appreciate that James and thank you for being a member. There are plans to begin work on a brand new video soon so it won’t be quite such a gap to the next release. All the best to you and JOG ON. H 🧡
Hiked already twice in the Scottish Highlands. This trip is on my bucket list as well. I like hiking, I like good Scottish Craft beer (beside Whisky)...so nice combo!
This is why we love JOG ON.Such a unique channel with amazing video quality.Keep it up Harry.Hopefully I can pass my driving test soon so I can get down to some meet ups in the future🤛🏻.❤️
Superb video. When i was younger (and fitter) i treked from Fort William to Skye in 14 days. Watching this reminded me of some of the amazing places i saw. I was surprised to see cars in the village with the pub - with no roads it does beg the question, how do you get a car to your house from the garage!
@@thisisjogon you have no idea how much you taking the time to reply to my comment has cheered me up! It’s been a rough week so has already intended a big push tomorrow at Parkrun
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Sitting at home off work with a terrible cold, it made me happy seeing you men hiking through Scotland to get to a pub. It brought back a fantastic hike I did many years ago with my wife and my sister, an expert mountaineer who has done most of the Munroes. We caught the train from Edinburg up to Kingussie in the Cairn Gorms. Then we just walked up into the mountains for 3 days, camping out in the wild. We didn't see another human being for the entire time. I miss the Highlands!
What an exceptional hike. I've gone deep into the backcountry of the American West, and there's nothing quite like those barely touched primaeval landscapes
How does harry not have over a million subscribers like he is amazing and great youtuber he is literally the best running youtuber he has taught me so so much this amazing guy is underrated he deserves more 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Glad you enjoyed your trip up to the Highlands. You experienced the typical summers day up here, all seasons in one day!!! Keep up the great work Harry.
I stayed for 3 nights in Inverie, (way back in 1995 of so) The Pierhouse B & B was owned then by Jan and Dave (I think) Marriot. I dined with Simon from the Outer Hebredes. He came from London were he worked. After the dinner (We drank a bottle of Rioja) he ordered his sweety which was an Isle of Jura (We drank maby more) And then we went of to the pub. I didn't know the name, but there was only one. Next day was horrible. I vomted several times. Stayed there until monday went for a long walk to see Sgurr Na Ciche and then back again to Mallaig. Great time !!
Bringing a carrot on a hike like this is an interesting choice :D I'd bring almond pulp in a tube, the type you use for baking. It's basically sugar and pulped almonds. Also now I want to live in a remote house in Scotland, it's got northern Sweden beat.
@@dcharles1973 I have done it and Kinloch Hourn is indeed the starting point, it's at the end of the longest cul de sac in the UK. We went the hard way though, camped at Barrisdale then ascended Ladhar Bheinn and went to Inverie via the peaks. Stayed overnight after a pint at the Old Forge then returned via the much easier pass that they used.
Grew up just south of Fort William, that wind you experienced is a typical summer's day. By adulthood you'll have thighs as thick as tree trunks standing up straight in that breeze.
Me and a few friends recently did the DOFE award in the mountains. The teachers told us.. Its 10km , other groups have easy concrete routes. Well we decided to climb the side of the mountain (to take a shortcut), bad idea; the footpath was destroyed. Midway down we ran into a lone house with a grandpa who told us the road didn't exist ahead. At this point we were running late. We ended up going back to the start and taking another route. All together it was 34km in a day including a close call when we accidentally wenrt onto a live runway. (that was scary, got us running for the taxiway as some plane was taking on ahead)
I half expected one of you to bitten by a werewolf on your way to the pub, but you managed to stay off the moors. Seriously though, what a beautiful area , cheers from Fresno California

To be fair that’s a normal weekend

Tuesday, if weather allows it :D
That's my answer even if I go to the local for a quick one, alas. Oops
I love how much rugged isolated land Scotland has, lonely for some perfect for others

So true.
To get to Kinlochhourn go to the back of beyond and then continue 25 miles further on the single track road.
