As someone who can’t really mentally justify a 50k post tax price on a Civic Type R, a 38.5k post tax Elantra N really is an unbeatable deal. Especially with the 3 years of free maintenance and 10 year warranty.
Not to mention its a lot more fun to drive with that rowdy exhaust note.
I would not recommend changing it every 8k (3 free oil changes.)
@@TheSilentJackYTYou might void your warranty otherwise
And very poor reliability. The Elantra N its well known for its poor quality transmission. Just google it. Poor service , mostly denied warranty claims . You can't enter this vehicle to a car wash because it will damage a sensor that will make the vehicle enters n limp mode. Believe me , hyundai's new vehicles are no longer reliable, same with the sonata N line, poor performance. Transmission issues. They claimed the Sonata N line its an sport car. However the vehicle was never intented for performance . Dont ever get a new hyundai.
@@HaiRune bruh. You’re not gonan void ur warranty doing ur own maintenance, I have one of these cars lol. I do all my own maintenance. Still have sent it in for warranty work. They legally can’t. Magnus-moss act.
I have this exact car picked it up this past weekend. Love it so far. Can't beat it at that price.
niiiccceeeee, enjoy it
I had a Mustang GT 19" and a BMW 740i 19" three months ago I bought a new Elantra N 2024, and I claim that it has a much better sport than both! EN is the successor of EVO X 💪
I miss my 4g63 and 4b11
Definitely i would consider it the FWD successor to the EVO. Fun fact...its has a EVO related motor(same family of engines)

Generally misconceived as a jointly developed engine, the Chrysler World engine and the Mitsubishi 4B11 is actually engines based off of Hyundai's Theta engine, which its development starting 2001 and took 46 months to get it done. It was sold through GEMA which lead to public misconception of the engine, though already from its development timeline it is quite apparent its a Hyundai's own engine.
Now that the engine can handle more stress, they've added a twin-scroll turbo resulting in a ultimate Theta engine, the 4B11T. Even so, it was still essentially a Theta engine.

"80s cyberpunk vibe", is a good way to put that. I can see it - and yes, I am old enough to remember it! The LSD is great in this car. The torque steer may seem like a flaw, but it actually gives feedback so you know what the car is doing and can connect with it well. The car is amazing and I don't feel any heatsoak with it until the third 20 minute track session of the day. Still, it will take four sessions and no problems. I would not have bought the car if it wasn't so good. It is amazing for a FWD and for under 40k, good luck finding something better. Find me a better steering wheel, infotainment, and seats. Pretty damn good.
I just got my 2024 Hyundai Elantra N with the DCT in Cyber Grey last month (the 26th) and I'm LOVIN IT!
I drive mine to work 60 miles one way. On the highway in ECO mode I EASILY get high 30s mpg. 36-38 is VERY possible in this car cruising at 70-75mph.
When you put it in N mode it's a completely different car. It becomes very snappy, taught and a blast to drive
nice! enjoy!
@@dwnshft Thanks! I am.
How many miles do you get per tank and have you hand calculated the overall mpg for any tank yet?
@Defy_Convention great question. Yes, that was one of the 1st things I checked as I drove it fairly easy as I did the break-in.
Like I mentioned
The car in eco mode EASILY gets mid to high 30s (35-38) mpg on the highway without even trying. For that, keep it around 70-75mph.
I drive 60 miles one way to work every day on the highway. I do that miles per gallon every day. (Mid to high 30s)
In regular mode, it averages 27-30 mph.
In N mode, I'm not sure. I never looked, but probably 25ish on the highway. In N Mode, it only goes to 6th gear, keeping the car always in it's power band.
Sport mode goes to 7th gear.
Regular mode eventually shifts into 8th gear after being 7th for a bit.
Eco mode gets to 8th gear asap and holds it.
I usually fill it at before it gets to a quarter tank. I can get over 300 miles per tank for sure, but I'm not sure how much over.
Probably 330miles per tank is doable, maybe more as long an you are in eco mode on the highway.
It does far better than it says on the window sticker, and far better than I expected.
@@johnnyturbo8460 thanks for the detailed response. It's a nice bonus when a car can beat the rated mpg especially when it's a performance car. Hope it treats you well for many years.
Complaining about things that are creature comfort. You get what pay for. Think about the price and out of the box readiness for track, daily commute, grocery shopping
Performance blue draws a lot of attention, while other colours blend into the background. Neighbours will know every time you leave and come back from a trip, even in normal mode. 18' tires required for daily, especially with garbage roads from downtown Toronto living. Fuel economy can be surprisingly good for 6MT, but revert to average on its own (that octane learning is highly unpredictable). Drivers seat squeaks when you're wide and heavy. Petro Canada 94 octane is best fuel for this car. When driving aggressively, think of it as a AWD car and try pulling out of the turns early, especially when lift-off causes the nose to tuck in. N mode button becomes your best friend for daily, tap it for instant drama and other N button to go back to normal. Happens so quickly, you can go in and out of N-mode, in a second, while execute some very aggressive maneuver in the city. Observations after 65000 KM of daily with my 2023 6MT Elantra N... I wonder if they'll warranty my squeaky driver seat..it's like having sex on a squeaky mattress.
Top car for the money. Really good size for family.. the value proposition makes it a standout.. type R might be the better overall car but can also buy other cars at $45k… this is a $35k car what else can you get at that price? WRX is ok but not as focused.. wrx is a nice car with turbo and AWD but not as focused, more the all rounder
Perfectly said said
As a normal driver, who uses all modes, my average mpg is above 30 (23 elantra N)
very nice! great all-around car!
This car is stupid fun, I love how you can simply do things like get the exhaust to crackle by shifting it to sports plus. I know all these folks talking about a pure rwd sports car... But can you make my drab 20 mile per hour, straight line, signal to signal city commute fun? I can enjoy those cannon roads in the weekend.
Absolutely fantastic
fire
Hope to see them bring back the Kona N
The car looks so mean in the front, that’s why I like it too!
the new facelift is a great change
So what’s better the auto or manual?
I would get the DCT version! I like it in that gray color. It’s like a battleship gray or something.
The N is very good value, but I feel like the Honda Civic Type R shouldn't even be compared because it costs way over MSRP in most provinces. $70,000 CAD is the price right now.
hope you test the interga type s
hope honda/acura returns my emails this year *crying softly*
Funny thing i think its a US thing to not have the sunroof on the manual, i have a 2024 manual same color everything and i have a sunroof (i live in canada)
so weird, Hyundai! WHY??
Is this more fun than the Kona N? I feel like a used KN might be an interesting choice, too.
this is a little more refined and comfortable from a ride/damping perspective..plus a lower center of gravity helps the car corner more confidently
As a Kona N owner you can go wrong with either. A good middle ground is the Veloster N but I would get a turbo swapped with the EN or KN. The KN has the fastest lap time surprisingly
Plus they only made around 3000 in the US. So it’s way more rare to see the Kona. Everytime I take it to car meets or cars and coffee everyone is so excited to see one in person
I dont understand why the US is the only place they do not get a sunroof on the manual, we have it in Canada
Canada W
I have a Manual with sunroof! I'm from Puerto Rico By The Way ❤
I owned this car for 2.5 yrs. You were really digging hard for cons. Haha. All of the things you mention are trivial at best especially considering the price point compared to the competition.
It’s a brilliant car no douvt
Why did you sell it?
@@MeltingRubberZ28 got a $30k trade in and got into a car I have wanted for a long time. 24 Lexus is350 f sport. Still loved that car but was excited about the luxury vs the fun. I had my fun.
@thetorquedork5857 understood. I like the EN and may own one someday. I have no reason to replace my current car though.
i want this car so bad but i could probably spend my money a bit more wisely haha
life is short, drive fun cars! But yeah, also be responsible lol
mustang ecoboost,Elantra N, jetta gli and Subaru wrx, which is better as a first car 🤔
I hate that I can't carry my many MAPS that I use because the car doesn't have pouches behind the driver and passenger seat... not buying
True renaissance men, are we 🤝
Someone should make video comparison Elantra N vs BMW M3 e92
iinnnnnteresting
I have a 24 elantra N in a 6spd manual and I have a sunroof
Are you in the states?
@@dwnshft no I'm in Canada. But I got a colour that wasn't available in Canada either the ecotronic grey as a mistake
@@TidePodEater138 oh interesting 🤔 but yeah weirdly in the states they do the sunroof exclusivity thing 🤷♂️
@@dwnshft ya that is a weird option combo in the states. Exclusive paints for different countries I get but the sunroof makes no sense just be cost effective to have all sunroof cars I would imagine. Btw love the videos and keep it up guys
It’s not NGB it’s NGS for N grin shift
O
That actually beat an M340i around the track 😳🤯
a very small and tight autocross track, but yeah
Doesn’t need AWD, adds weight, sucks extra power from the engine and the FWD nature of the car adds character. It’s got some torque steering, you gotta drive the car instead of sitting back and mindlessly go forward. Feeling the front wheels load up and grip a corner at the same time is so much fun. AWD ruins that fun. Keep it FWD
AWD is so boring
Wow, cope much? FWD is an economy, handicapped concept for a sporty car. AWD is better in every way, plus you can slide the car. That's fun
@@1Solace This car is more tail happy than all of it's awd competitors. So many videos of the elantra N drifting. The wrx and gr corolla come stock as very understeer NPC pedestrian cars.
The awd cars at the same price range manage to all be less performant. Yes, a very good awd system's limits are higher, but it's competitors are an open diff awd system in the wrx and a poorly designed/capable awd system in the GR that overheats when you push it. Yes, an awd system with lsd's on both axles is the best. But an open diff awd system is litterally the most economy npc setup possible.
It's a fwd setup with a clutch pack e-lsd. That's miles more performance focused than open diff awd cars. Open diff awd is the epitome of understeer and attracting noob car guys like you.
If AWD is better in every way, why are the gr corolla and wrx consistently slower on every track? You realize the wrx comes with a drive train ripped straight out of an SUV LMAO. The N gets a specially motorsports derived drive train that has won the last 2 years of TCR and is on a unique N platform. The RnD budgets for the two cars are miles apart
@@1Solace lmfao the EN and Type R both will throw their backends out and slide around turns all day. Way to comment on what you don't know, though 😆
@@vjdfl5 im not talking about a cute little oversteer moment, im talking drifting. You're saying you can kick the back end out on demand?
prefer WRX VB
This or the Miata mx5 nd3 ?
vastly different cars for differnt purposes (that said, this)
If you don't need the space, the Miata hands down.
Comparing the interior to type r😂 Who's got money yo burn these days anyways?
The civic type R doesn’t have rear vents or seat back pockets for well over $50k so can’t really bash the Elantra N for that
It’s not well over 50k. It’s 45k. Don’t bother using the markup as an argument, because markup prices have nothing to do with the build quality or features of a car.
@@SIIKAP1 good luck finding one for 45k!
@@orangejuice-xi3gt I already did half a year ago!
@@SIIKAP1 right and I’m Jay Leno. I can lie on the internet too
@@orangejuice-xi3gt no reason or desire to lie. These can be found for MSRP fairly easily nowadays. I was a repeat, local buyer at the dealership, and it was an end of month deal.
If you can't afford a Type R, you really can't beat this package
Type R is ugly too
I had an FK8 Type R, traded it for one of these. It's just better to live with daily, and that DCT is quite nice.
@@KillDevilXOType R looks way better than this
@@SIIKAP1 Agreed the R looks better. Although ive seen a few reviewers say the N is more fun. While the R is a bit sharper.
@@KillDevilXOLol you think THIS looks better??
It just looks Wrong just a weird shape
That’s what I love about it. It doesn’t look boring like most cars.
My lil sis can make better food than that but love the Elantra n and want one so bad
lol wut
These Hyundais are completely ignored and irrelevant by the enthusiast community’s. Don’t matter how good it is for money… they’re terribly unreliable and that extended warranty ain’t from the goodness of their hearts.
What makes these unreliable if you don’t mind me asking.
@@bellabashfoolHe’s not going to give you an answer because that statement made came right out of his ass.
@@bellabashfool I had a 2023. These reviewers never address the issues that are forth coming with this car. Go to any N forum and you will see DCT failure, HPFP recall, fuel injector failure, trunk separation due to heat because Hyundai used double sided tape, red paint peel on trim and calipers, bad exhaust valve springs, horn failure, and obviously the paint on these cars are cheap. It chips easy and the interior is just hard plastic that scratches easy. Hyundai America ranks last in Customer Service Satisfaction and for good reason. Worst manufacturer to try to get them to honor something. They don't call it America's Most Used Warranty for nothing. Back in 2006 to 2010 a Hyundai was a solid reliable car. Things have gone downhill since. Hyundai cares more about features, styling then they do reliability.
@@jeffarmstrong6867 Thanks for saving me the pain. I have a 2023 mazda cx5 and am satisfied with the car. The brakes could use some work but the entire thing is amazing. Beautiful red, can't believe I got it for 33k lol legit leather seats
Great car BUT the new GTI mk8.5 has 265hp now and is about 6k less money then this.
would be a good head-to-head test
The GTI is only 2k less and although capable, it's ultimately a much more sedated car.
One bad thing is the bad aesthetics of a giant crease down the side and light blue with red. Second con is a 4 door econobox granny’s grocery getter that nobody notices.
You want everyone to notice you driving? What are you 12 years old? You sound like a clown and I bet you cant even afford a 2010 Civic
Man the whole class has gone to shit...50k for a civic with a wing or 60k for a rebadged civic with no wing, 50k for a shitty NPC gta render hatchback golf R or 35k gti, NPC forester-mini impreza with extra plastic + a turbo, 65k for a AWD 3 cyl corolla with a rear sear delete or a base model corolla with a 3 cyl for 40k🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ they are selling a 200hp civic Si 30+k dollars with mark up!!!! Helll nah
I feel like your first con contradicts the second con… The giant crease and clashing colors make it stand out. This car doesn’t blend in at all. I get compliments on mine a few times a week in public. And I love the crease. But my car is black so it hides it more and matches the red trim better.
The aesthetics are subjective. But to say no one notices is the biggest lie ever. I get a lot of attention in my car doing absolutely nothing. 100% confirms you're just a hater and don't like that people enjoy the car.
I haven't stopped receiving comments on my 24 EN since I got in back in February. The design and colour, people love it.
Is everyone taking crazy pills? This facelift looks like a mess. It’s a disaster. Looks like an Audi from Wish.
If you think everyone is taking crazy pills, it’s probably just you who is crazy and actually needs some pills. - Psychology 101
Fr tho, it is not a mess. I get compliments on mine several times a week. NONE of my previous cars got this much positive attention
Yes most everyone is on crazy pills. I'm amazed that I keep seeing people say how they fixed the looks of this car with the facelift. I bought a 2023 after seeing the 2024's because the new front is boring, less aggressive, and doesn't match the rest of the car. The new rear end........ nothing can save it.
I agree. I own the 22 N intense blue and though I’m not a fan of the overall looks, I love my mean looking front grill. I don’t know if any other cars that have that look on the front grill. The reviewer said that this car looks more elegant, lol. I didn’t get this car for elegance.
Agree the PFL is way better looking. More character
@@boogiedownkid5465exactly. The front end on the original was the reason I bought the car. Looks mean as hell. The new one looks don’t match the type of car it is. It’s the KISS of cars. That band does not sound like they look at all.
