Greetings Vince, I have the xdt20 1 week ago and it is very comfortable to use, I buy it on Amazon since the home depot does not yet have it, I already had the Japanese version the td173d in olive color, highly recommended.
I have a theory that Makita is coming out with a tabless 1865, because they are only putting 4AH in starter kits instead of the ubiquitous 5AH. I think that the delay is because 18650s are the only thing that fits on the 18x2 tools.
I bought one of these starter kits. Guess what the manufactured date was on the two 4.0 and the 5.0 battery I chose to buy with it. 2021, The batteries are three years old when you buy them. This is pure bullshit.
Makita can use 21700 in line with the tool, on two rows, and 3x21=63 so even less then 65mm. But with only 5 cells on two rows the size is bigger then with 10 x 1865, the weight is not much better - Bosch 4Ah pro core weights 550 grams since last year vs 631g for a normal 5Ah Makita. 4Ah pro core was 535g before and 515g spect...And with only 5x 2170 it also needs to be tabless, otherwise the normal 5Ah with 10x1865 is better... And with 10 cells on 4 rows it would be huge...
Yo Vince! How ya *dern* ? I'm super excited Makita is still investing into their LXT platform. Last I checked, the LXT batteries use Sony battery cells vs their 40v XGT battery cells being made by Makita, themselves. I've heard complaints about the 40v batteries lasting half as long as LXT. 🤷♂️ I'm definitely a firm believer in Makita power tools and the LXT batteries. Only to be rivaled by m18 batteries with Samsung cells. I've had both brands with their 18v batteries for years and years and all is well with every single one of them. Peace and God be with you, my friend. 😁👍✌️
nice!!! My Makita impact I got scruffy-used (30 quid/bucks lol) with a kinda messed up chuck/bitholder, but I still like the blighter ;) This would be a great upgrade
Eh. Let's see if they get down to earth with their pricing. I love my Makita's but they have been long in the tooth for a long time. I just entered the M-12 Fuel realm and I'll be needing to start replacing my aging 18v LXT tools soon but I don't see what Makita has to offer over the other brands that make them demand their prices. When a brushless 12v out works a 3 year old 18v LXT I feel kind of silly investing in new LXT tools for my 18v -20 v tools.
We have xdt 14s at work and…they still work lol. They get dropped and abused every day. We even have really old batteries with no battery bars…that still work lol
And I have a message for Makita. I'M DONE WITH YOU. I can buy two Milwaukee Forge batteries using the latest technology a 12 A-h and 8 A-hr for $249. To buy two 6 A-hr old school Makita batteries still using 18650 cells I've got to pay $267. I bought two DeWalt 5.0 Powerstack batteries for $150. Makita is nuts if they think people are going to allow them to rape them on batteries and stay with the brand. Their Christmas specials were particularly lame this year as well featuring 4.0 A-hr batteries which Milwaukee doesn't even make anymore.
Best bags of any of the major players…unfortunately they just don’t have the presence in the big box stores. That bolt removal mode is NUTS!
Love my Makita 40v!!
Love xps screw bits a lottt and makita hammers and grinders are beastsss
I have the Japanese version that came out a couple of years ago and it's sweet! Auto mode 1 is great for lags and 3 is great for pocket hole framing.

I’ve heard it is coming , probably be 3-4 years before we see it here in the states.

Makita just set the bar in current uses in home and work platforms
I have td173dz 18v , My favorite impact. 😊

Pretty cool! 👍

I think once makita makes larger Lxt batteries everyone will take them seriously again with the Lxt
That is not a new tool. It’s been in Japan for 2 years.
The nailer is a sign though….
Makita usually drops new stuff similar to Sonys PlayStation systems 😅
Are they ever gonna do anything with the batteries lol.
🎄☃️🍺🎸🤘

Look at the batteries prices in the UK . Around 60$ dollars for a 5 amh here 160 . Not sure why they are so high here.
