Lyrics:
So swallow hard the serpent
Of many tags and faces hid in masks
Coiled ‘round this lung until the last
He’ll crack your boots young pagans
‘Cause like you I was hatched to traipse on cold
And 17’s a long drawn way from hope
And I’ve learned these lessons I was taught
Taut, so taught
And now I’m telling you
Return the faith
Return the faith
They’re smashing out the veils
Return the faith
And there’s no escape
So return the faith
With charging light brigades
Return the faith
You’ve gotta move
So as betrayed by rainbows
Here I convey I’ve sold out your dear cause
And the king has placed us in his jaws
It’s sure no place can hold us
But in this scene I’m December
And your June’s wretch
And my idyls lay gasping as if death
And I’ve learned these lessons I was taught
Taut, so taught
And now I’m telling you
And I’ve learned these lessons I was taught
Taut, so taught
And now I’m telling you
Return the faith
Return the faith
They’re smashing out the veils
Return the faith
And there’s no escape
So return the faith
With charging light brigades
Return the faith
You’ve gotta move
Return the faith
Return the faith

This guy runs a tea shop in my town. Really glad to see him branching out. He's pretty good!
He's an epic rockstar since the early 90's!
Lmao!!!
@@arabe66 yeah, it almost feels like a joke
Are you aware Billy (WPC) supports Trump, and continues to support Alex Jones after appearing on his show three times? Are you aware of Billy's transphobic and homophobic comments? Billy Corgan exacerbated the shooting that happen there. Your neighbor WPC is a dumb piece of $hit.
🤣🤣 all that tea makes him in a goth metalish mood.
Ive been a fan since 91 at 13 now Im 44 and still love this band.
Isn't it crazy! I'm 43, and I can't let go of the 90s and it's music!
Youre my people.
I'm 41 and love this band too. Best band in the world.
Anybody live in the north east? We could do a 90s podcast!
Me Too! 78 models rule!! Listening to the 33 podcast was fantastic as well!
That simple groove and driving rhythm quickly sinks into your bones. I can't get enough of this one; very very well done!

I was watching an interview with billy and he was saying that sometimes they record to a click-track, while other times they record completely off-the-cuff. He mentioned that in this song, Beguiled, recording to a click-track intensified the pounding rhythm of the song.
Billy enters the room like a Dark Souls boss.
Pontif Sullyvan !
Back in the day I took great music for granted and never thought it would be in short supply. Dang....this is why a casual fan like me holds on to bands of the past for gems like this.
I think this is my favorite pumpkins song now. Glad to see they stayed true to their art while still being able to experiment with different, amazing sounds. They have stood the test of time for sure.
So happy the smashing pumpkins are still making new music....
Likewise ❤️
Yeah but would be better if they made better music like the old days.

John 2:18-22
King James Version
18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
We have 46 chromosomes in our DNA the temple had been standing for 46 years this is definitive proof that the church is about to be raptured. We are in the third day waiting for the redemption of our DNA

2 Peter 3:8
King James Version
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day
Hosea 6:2
King James Version
2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight
Matthew 24:37-39
King James Version
37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
1 Thessalonians 5:3
King James Version
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape
Get saved while you can the tribulation is about to begin any moment I believe Christ died in 30AD that means tribulation is beginning this year! In the tribulation in order to be saved you must endure till the end you must believe in whom the father sent and you must build a testimony of faith.
Unless you get on the ark now you will have to face Gods wrath I suggest you get on the ark.
The good news is that Christ died for our sins was buried and rose again on the third day he became sin on the cross so that we may be justified to the holy father who is in heaven. He didn’t come to abolish Gods Holy law but he came to fulfill that law. We where born condemned with our sin nature it’s not God that condemns us.
John 3 16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:17

Very Rammsteinesque riff, simple and heavy, love it
it’s a metallica riff, eye of the beholder
Indeed.
Pumpkins back with an Awesome gritty sound .. great song looking forward to the whole album
Gives me zeitgeist vibes heavy
Heard them play this live this weekend and I have to say, it's going to become a favorite for me after hearing it in person. Been a fan since 94'!

this is so good but you must hear “The Wave” or “Whispering Wolf” by SLT 🤘
Yes!!! Reminds Me of The Smashing Pumpkins We All Went Crazy For Throughout The Early 90's.
That had to be a really fun video shoot.
The first time I heard this song, I was driving an old VW GTI on the highway.
Next thing I knew, I was doing 120 because the vibe of this song just inspired me to.
Well done.
Next time you'll feel like flying a spaceship. :)

Cool groove...I love they are still experimenting with sounds
That riff!
That's James kicking a$$ with the crunchy guitar riff, right? AWESOME
I doubt James showed to any recording sessions on this album. Sounds like all Billy and Jimmy with the background singers.
I dig it. It has all the trappings of what makes me love the pumpkins. All the grit and grandeur plus a dose of humor this time; his kids. Just chillin. I salute you, Billy and the boys.
He said he feels like playing guitar again and this is sort of a return to form. His last 4 albums via smashing pumpkins and his solo or severely underrated.
I don’t know who’s being paid to comment that this is amazing. I used to love this band. I want to remember them when they rocked and when their videos weren’t painful to watch.
Agreed. It's severely lacking everything that makes a Pumpkins song great. It's very stock.
I agree, although only in part. It is true that musically it seems childish compared to other great songs of the past, but I get the feeling that Corgan intends to convey a hidden message (apart of the explicitness of the lyrics, where the "return to faith" is a declaration of intentions), but in the staging of the video, where countless characters appear that seem straight out of a freak show (like real life nowadays, and that is the reason why this video is "painful to watch", as you wrote).
In my opinion, this video is Corgan's response to all this absurd woke conventionalism in which we live today that does nothing more than confront each other (you can see when the long-haired man without a shirt and the woman start arguing), and he proposes a return to the traditional values of faith and family as the only way to bring people together again.
Corgan is totally against today's society, which destroys our mind and, what is even more important, our spirit, and urges us to only take care of our physical appearance. I think that is evidenced in the video "Solara"; I believe that the line that Billy has taken in recent years has been the rejection of materialism and a return to spirituality, love, faith, understanding and solidarity. In my opinion, he proposes a return to human being.
However, I repeat that musically it seems to me to be light years away from some songs from the past.
So this is kind of return to more of a hard rock/Synthpop Digging this one it’s growing on me even more can’t wait for the new album.
He's fearless with his art. I love him for that. I love the band for continuing to subvert expectations and be freaky and genuinely original!
The risk taking always brings reward with this band. Legendary.
Right the fuck on. Just saw them in Tampa a few days ago and they were nothing more than amazing! The lighting that they designed was kind blowing. Their entrance reminded me of a Bowie show mid 80's. Just intense all the way around. People like them give me hope for humanity, be real, be you and fuck everyone else...
Exactly. He just keeps on making music regardles of what others think. He's not going to kowtow to others. He's got the ability to do all sorts of things musically, and he has the resources. He's already made enough money to live comfortably and he's not greedy just making money off of what he knows large crowds want to hear, so he does his own thing.
@@alukuhito I think it's that aspect of an artist like Billy that always resonates. When they really aren't doing it for money, but doing it for expression and art's sake. I know he's obviously rich enough now to not care, but even in the early days he just thought 'fuck it I'm doing what I want and I will make it regardless'. I love that attitude. It's hard to exist in a messed up industry, so watching how someone can use it to their advantage and create a whole new space for their art blows my mind.
A lot of artists 'make it' and that's that. They sell out or they quiet down, they get comfortable in the persona they built but he's still making brand new stuff. No gimmicks or repetition.
I was looking for "Hummer" with this verse on my mind "faith lies in..." And i found "Beguiled" with "return the faith..."
Feeling blessed 🙏 and listening to a great sound of The Smashing Pumpkins
This is the Pumpkins I remember...the past few albums really bummed me out. This is the first song since "Tarantula" that I really dug. Good to see Corgan remembered he can rock it out!
He never really forgot he just gets bored and wants to continue to try new things.
Ngl I agree with you. I liked some of the songs ZeitGeist. Couldn’t get into the other stuff after that album. However this song sounds pretty good. Not sure about the other ones, but maybe it’ll grow on me
This song deserves SO much more attention than it gets. Smashing Pumpkins have always been great. We need more of this music 💯

Was about to say the same thing
It will be "3" albuns
It’s got a hint of Orion by Metallica about it as well.
Everything off Zeitgeist was infinitely more interesting than having the same extremely boring ass palm muted riff for an entire song.
I love that it's both a great rock song in its own right and also shows a sense of fun - it's like serious and silly at the same time
This explains why I like it too! Thanks for putting it into simple words.

@@beanboy69420 You mean millennial energy. Boomers got no idea who SP are.
I’m in high school and anybody I know who listens to alternative music in any sense has listened to both Siamese dream and melon collie before, I can guarantee you this generation knows what “music” is, besides there’s plenty of great music from the 2000s-2020s and there was plenty of utter shit in the 80s-90s. It’s a matter of perspective.
@Manny King You realize that millions of millennials were teenagers in the 90s, right? Did the Pumpkins mostly appeal to people in their late 20s or to teenagers?
