My father called me "Sunshine" growing up. He passed last October. I heard this for the first time shortly after that. The line "Even when you're dead and gone, you can always reach me. All you have to do is call me, little Sunshine!" Gets me every time.

Ghost is addicting. Never ever have I loved a band so much. Saw them in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. I'm 54 and took my 14 year old daughter. She loves them so much she couldn't stop crying.
Dark brooding metal verses, then this almost cheesy 80's soft rock chorus with such a uplifting vibe , I heard this on the radio and had to find it -and instantly a huge Ghost fan. This song is a classic.

I love how this song subverts really supportive lines like "you can always reach me" and "you will never walk alone" to convey the utter omnipresence of Mephistopheles. You'll never be rid of him. Every doubt he sows is another chance to sell your soul.

I think people are missing the entire point of the band to begin with which was to allow Tobias to have a creative outlet that wasn't constrained to anything except the imagery of the band itself. The only ghoul who did any serious songwriting was Martin Persner, aka Omega, who's now with Magna Carta Cartel. He testified on Tobias' side during that debacle of a lawsuit, and they're still pals, so I think it's fair to say that Ghost has always been Tobias' project. It's like in the 90's, when every NIN album said in the notes "Nine Inch Nails is Trent Reznor". We've known for a long time that offstage, Ghost is Tobias Forge.

It’s not just studio effects…that’s arrangement, songcraft and effective production. The fact that his voice is quadrupled (I’d be willing to bet it’s even more…probably two or three voices per part) isn’t studio trickery…it’s the art of making a vocal section powerful and engaging.

6 months ago I watched my very first Ghost video. 3 concerts & countless hours of listening later I now have Ghost & I have everything.
I know I am not alone when I say this band saved my life. I'm not just talking "I had a bad and it picked me up."
I am in the fight of my life with cancer for the 2nd time in 6 years which my team of doctors said was impossible. IT COULD NEVER COME BACK. Yet here I am fighting not only the disease but all my mental, emotional, and spiritual things that come with it.
I have bed ridden for a couple months now and watching ANYTHING Ghost gets me through.
I'm near Chicago so there are opps to see them almost if not every cycle and I look forward to the day of being front row...
Tobias and Ghost family, please, please know you have so much more of an impact than being a band. You speak for those who can't and there is a special place in *hell* for each of you.

Tobias Forge is a great songwriter and performer. I'm an old Head, but new to Ghost. I thank the Algorithm for this one. Now I have Ghost, and I have everything.
Yeah he is a true music nerd that has listened to so much of the greats of the past.. He has said that he has a good memory for melodies and elements of songs and does not forget them easily once he has heard and appricated something in a song. Excellent job at making something sound like 70s 80s classics while also sounding fresh and new at the same time. Max Martin once said that metal musicians&songwriters are the most likely to be able to write quality pop tunes and that certainly was true for Tobias Forge that was an death metal musicians for many years. Omega described him as a pop genius recently and i totally agree. TF's fandom of ABBA is clear as day in many parts of the discography which is one of the reasons i really like Ghost.

I think one reason so many people take multiple listens before they end up “liking” Ghost songs is because of their wordplay and multiple connotations. The first listen, you may only interpret the surface. Then with each additional listen, you hear more/understand more/interpret more.
Nah, first time I wasn't totally into this song cause the only lyrics I could make out were "you will never walk alone / you can always reach me" (I heard the song before watching the video) and I was like "wtf this is strangely uplifting for Ghost, where's all the devil worship?"
It was only when I later watched the video that I realized the song was about Mephistopheles (presumably speaking to Faust)
This song is honestly one of their weakest, lyrically, but damn if it isn't a fantastic jam
Actually, it's because the damned riffs get stuck in your head and despite not being super impressed the first time you hear it, it.just.keeps.playing.in.your.head, you find yourself involuntarily whistling/humming it, and then you listen to it again...and again.

Also, most of Ghost’s songs are “uplifting,” considering the whole point is that they’re making fun of religion/ Satanists. Most of their albums are about trying to recruit people to their legion, so they make it sound poppy and fun while carrying the dark/sinister tones underneath. A lot of casual listeners don’t pick up on that stuff. Their cinematic shorts are almost completely humor/happy related.

It's interesting how the singles from the new album don't catch you from the first minutes as it was with the previous albums. It was only after listening to Hunter's Moon and this song a few times that I realized how great they are. I think this is another Tobias Forge's masterplan and i love it so far.

freeze frame at 1:45. that is the Chapeau that Papa Emeretus IV wears in the Watcher in the Sky live with cams on them in recent concerts.
It sounds like a perfect mix between Prequelle and Meliora. The music is actually so complex and put together so perfectly that it takes several listens to hear all the nuances. Probably be discovering new things for months to come. It's clear Tobias is a musical mastermind.
