Don't you love that government gives us tickets for not wearing our seatbelt, yet their vehicles they use to forcibly transport us, including school buses, many times do not have seatbelts?

This issue came up in Iowa regarding school busses and, while the research is not completely clear on the issue, the propensity of the evidence (so to speak) is that so long as certain conditions regarding the distance between the seats, etc, are met, school busses are safer for children without seatbelts. The thing is, though, the seats have to be set very close together so that the occupants are packed in like sardines. That police van left far too much room in that compartment, which allowed an unrestrained single occupant to be thrown around like a rag doll.
I am not an engineer or expert of any sort on safe transportation for humans but I imagine that if there had been 6 or 8 human detainees packed into that compartment, it would have been unpleasant but a lot safer than putting one person in it.
I find it very suspicious that the officers involved kept talking about giving Mr. Sanchez-Mayan "the ride." As if the ride were the point and not so much the destination. Reminds me unpleasantly of the old cliché "you might beat the rap but you won't beat the ride." It's hard to believe that nothing has happened to those two officers.

I'm from Saint Pete and I can't stand the SPPD. This was in June in Florida. High 80s, 75% and over humidity. Dude was trying to get some shade and wait out the heat of the day. It's the only way homeless survive down here in the summer. Shade to wait out the heat.
The cops don't let them sit in these parks and side lots. So what do they do? They hang out near the alleyways downtown. They poop behind all the businesses. Where else is there for them to go or use the bathroom? The way the cops and city hall handle this is despicable. There is no humanity there. No compassion. They spend all this money catering to Bill Edwards, a rich con-man who defrauded thousands of veterans, and other nonsense and have nothing but brutality for the people who are suffering.

The felony thing makes perfect sense sense once you realize that the cops could use it to upgrade you from a petty crime or misdemeanor to a felony just by stacking charges. Trespassing + failure to ID + interference with an investigation + disturbing the peace + resisting arrest without violence. To get a "ride" in the paddy wagon has been a tradition for a long time. When I was a truant kid in the late 70s and early 80's I had plenty of rides unsecured in the back of a wagon. The officer would take a drive through the local park which had steep hills and inclines at a good pace and hit the brakes while yelling " look out for that stray dog!". You would go flying. Of Course Challenging the Criminal Justice System on Anything Can Trigger an Immediate Cover-Up, and Generally Some Brutal Retaliation! And Objectively Speaking the Judicial Branch because of that, is Organized Crime! An Occupational Force! Look at the Boeing Whistle Blower! He was Murdered but Ruled a Suicide!
