For a few weeks of my life I can probably now bench more than the mountain, stay strong big guy, we're with you.
he can probably bench more with one arm lol
Probably still benches more than you tbf
@@ragingcomedy1835 lmao exactly my thought
He can probably bench near 300lbs with his right arm lol
@@Rostam. Nah, problem is that you need to use a standard bar, and even if Hafthor can press that weight, he probably can't do it while having to stabilize it since the weight would be several feet removed from his hand.
It was shocking to see it live. Best of luck for the surgery Thor!
With his shirt on it was hart to see much of what happened (at least on the YT stream). Soon as he yelled you knew it was a pec tear. Plenty of outlets calling it a gruesome sight during the live stream, but honestly, it was pretty much a nothing on stream.
@@Dan_the_gent The sound is horrific. Sounds like someone pulling apart velcro, and then just a pop as it pings off the bone. Crazy that he just thanked the crowd and walked away like it was nothing, I'd have spewed my guts up haha.
@@yewtewbstew547 Yea, it's absolutely crazy to see and hear it.
I wasn't shocked. He went too far too fast. That's what happens when you do that.
worst thing was the sound...
I had the exact same injury where most of my tear was the muscle as the tendon was still attached to the bone. Doctors will always give you the worst case senario so dont let it concern you. My pressing is now stronger than before the surgery . I'm 55 years old so if I can heal stronger I am absolutely certain you will also. BTW thank you for taking the time to allow my wife and I to have the nice photo with you at the SBD booth at the Arnolds. . They did the cut off before us and you had them bring me and my wife for a photo so again thank you and I know you will do awesome in rehab and recovery !
I wasn't so lucky. Mine wasn't off the tendon as well, but so many fibers are gone, there isn't much left. :( My bench is like 60% of what it was.
I honestly don't mind the lower weight on the bar, but the look is the thing I hate the most. It looks like gyno now (which it isn't) and totally unproportional to the rest of my body.
sorry but NO ONE is stronger after, because of the surgerie or the injurie wouldnt make much sense if only one side is operated on. its just the mind which is also incredible
Amazing how so many people even attempt their maximum lifts. Well, I'm not surprised by youngsters, because until mid-to-late 20's we all feel 'undestructible', and I also tried personal records multiple times when young. Also obviously I'm not surprised by competitive lifters, it's their job or at least passion. But why the hell thousands of middle aged dudes would even do that. What do they gain if they get a PR. Well I do understand their motivation.. but at the same time I can't fully comprehend why they decide to take the risks that go with it. My own strategy for not getting injured is not even attempting any weights that I can't do at least a few moves (5 or 6 minimum) in a controlled manner. So far works for me for the last ~15 years. Stay healthy everyone.
@@theplayerofus319 If a person was only doing intermediate lifts at the time of injury then recovering beyond pre-injury limits isn't hard.
@@eddieG667 shit man... how did that happen if you don't mind answering?? And how have you gotten over the asthetics?? I've struggled a lot with how I look and I know I need to overcome it, especially if I badly injure myself..
For a man who has done so many remarkable things in his life, your attitude towards this major injury is just incredible! Your humble and positive approach is so great to see!
And you're being open about it all and bringing us along on the journey too. Got me to ring the notification bell which I rarely ever do. Best wishes for a full recovery!
Prayers up for you big man. Hope surgery and recovery go well!
A wonderful Dr, explaining this. I hope everything goes well in L.A. Keep your positivity, optimism and great attitude! We will pray for your full recovery and minimal pain throughout the process!
Thank you for allowing us to follow along in your health/injury journey. It's important that we all understand this process. You are helping others by doing this. Your transparency is refreshing for all of us. Also, I am glad you are having the surgery done in the states. Especially in a large city like LA. You have a enormous support system in place and you got this. ~Peace, Health & Blessings to both you and your family~
Take the necessary time with this, Thor. Good recovery for you, champ! 🤝💪
Thanks for the update Hafthor. Great that you are doing the surgery in LA with a pec tear specialist. You will fully recover and that is 100% certain. *Tough times don't last, tough people do!* 💪🏻❤️
Right On !!!!! Thor takes "tough" to a whole new level.
Great expression
Tough people make tough times their bitch! And Thor will do just that.
You hit the nail on the head with your comment brother.
I don't know if he will ever come back as strong as he was but then again Zydrunas Savickas "Big Z" tore both patellar tendons in 2001 at the same time they said he would never be the same again then he went on to become the strongest man to ever walk the 🌎
I hope so much that you recovery fully from this injury, I feel for you Thor. I know that you know what's best for you and can only send my respect and love and wish you a speedy recovery. We're all rooting for you.
6-12 weeks, that was quicker than i guessed and the surgeon gave you good chance to fully recover, this was better news than i hoped for, stay strong and positive Thor🙂👍
Everyone iv known who have tears take longer than that to heal
@@imadrunk3576 I have had several tears myself competing 23 years in powerlifting and many years as a sprinter, thrower and jumper, the worst i had took 4 months to recover from(bench press with narrow grip) and then i took a few months more before i was back in full strength.
@@imadrunk3576 and hafthor has access to stuff that is too expensive for the average joe
@@CrazyChickenFarmer There's only so much that having money will do when you have torn a muscle/tendon, everyone heals differently I guess?
There’s no such thing as a full recovery from these injuries.
We love you soo much Legend !!! everything is gonna be alright !
Honestly. Your positive mindset helps me with my own problems. Appreciate that. All the best!
Sorry to see the injury. Stay positive. God bless and I hope for full recovery.
Thanks for sharing the process, that takes balls man! We all wish you the best recovery!
Speedy recovery man! With your positive attitude, you're already halfway there.
We're rooting for You!
Incredible positivity there Thor - it's incredible how you could reframe this as just a new chapter in your strength journey! Prayers for a full and speedy recovery
I mean having a big bench is cool but when if this knocks him down a little bit, he’ll bounce back with his squat and deadlift
I am very impressed with your willingness to share this entire story with us. You are helping hundreds and potentially thousands of injured athletes to understand what goes on with a tendon tear and repair. Your positive attitude is inspiring.
I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you. I hope that your surgery goes well. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Thanks for sharing your journey. ❤
Great respect for you and how you are handling this injury. Wishing you a full recovery!
Wish u all of the luck in your recovery Man!
Hope you have a speedy recovery and all goes well!
Thank you for keeping us in the loop. I’m sure the surgery goes well!
Wish you a swift recovery !! You're already a legend remember - take your time with WR goals it's not worth the sacrifice sometimes! We are with you
Love your attitude Hafthor! Wishing you a speedy recovery 💪
Speedy recovery, my guy! ❤
Thank you for sharing this with us. I with you a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.
Wishing you the best for your operation and recovery. Appreciate your willingness to share this difficult journey. ❤👍🙏
I was extremely painful to only see it, hope you get well soon. All the best for you and your family.
Patience giant man, you are going to come back stronger than ever, I have no doubts about that, it happened to me after all my injuries. It will also be a good opportunity to progress in squats. Greetings from Argentina.
Praying for you, hope you have a fast recovery. Thank you for inspiring me. God bless you!
Best of luck and good healing on this surgery..we'll be thinking of you
Never nice to see someone's goals get disrupted by injury but I'm sure you can bounce back wish you a fast recovery
Hope you recover well! You got this!
Good luck man! Recover well. Good luck with the surgery.
So much respect for the quick updates
Good luck Thor. It's almost shocking me to see how positive you are. It's making me think alot. Who knows this could have an even bigger impact on everyone watching. x
He is naturally a positive person and has a strong mind and a world champion in strength sports. You really think a pec tear is going to make him crawl up in a ball and cry? 😂 yeah I’m sure it sucks but this is no regular human.
Praying for a 100% recovery Hathfor
Prayers for the surgery and recovery journey. I hope you are able to make a full recovery and get back to it!
Safe travels to LA and with the surgery - sounds like you are in good hands! You and Brian Shaw both going through some stuff, and both coming out strong!
devastating, wish you a speedy recovery thor.
The bruising is impressive. Sending prayers for speedy healing!
I hope you heal up fast and get back at it! Much love and respect!!
Good luck with everything! Hopping for a full recovery
Dang, that's the same kind of pec tear I had around 15 years ago.. So sorry, Thor. I definitely know what it feels like. Just take it slow with the recovery, listen to your body and don't rush anything. Wishing you the best, Big Guy! 💪
I did a similar injury to my right pec as well. Does take a bit of recovery.
Bare in mind that pec is the size of most peoples thighs !!! lol
No way, get back on the horse and try for 260kg in a couple of weeks!! 😉
if thor knew how to listen to his body and take it slow, he wouldnt have torn it to begin with 😅😅😅
@@forget2bhuman993 His previous lift went up easily and he was feeling strong so his body was giving him the green light for more, he perhaps just overreached slightly but it was impossible to know that.
Come on thor, you will come back stronger!💪🏼
Great man, wish you a speedy recovery🙏🏻
All the best big man! looking forward to seeing you back at the top, also take it easy after surgery! Aw the best fae Scotland 🏴
Hope you heal fast and feel ok soon. your the reason i started working out again. Your videos are my motivation when im feeling lazy and not wanting to workout i watch your videos and gets me wanting to work on my goals
Stay strong thor! I said it before but i had and am having a rough time getting over a tendon injury in both my hands but its big on eating, letting your body repair and the step im struggling with is to build the strength back up. Stay strong man im here with you
Best of luck big guy. Praying for an excellent outcome 🙏
Mucha suerte thor te recuperaras y después de eso ya no llevar al límite tu cuerpo ya cuidate de otra forma saludos desde Paraguay hermano fuerza espero nos mantenga al tanto de todo tu tratamiento medico y recuperación.
A lot of people sending you good vibes, Big Thor. Stay positive and we'll be watching you lift the world again soon!
I was heartbroken when you experienced the injury, but I am encouraged by the current findings. Hoping for a full recovery.
Prayers for a quick recovery!!!
Prayers for Thor. Hoping the surgery went well. Speedy recovery big guy
just catching up this info, i had a right pec tear benching a max weight. i had my surgery done in LA as well, pec came out full and balanced, i’ve never even tried to go heavy anymore, not worth the risk to re-injure. i wish you all the success in recovery don’t rush it
Wishing you the best Thor, hopefully it heals fast and you come back stronger than ever! Much love from Spain
Get well soon! And all the best for your surgery
Gute Besserung!
The surgeons feedback is brilliant news. Consider this a 3 month delay on a long term plan. It’s a bummer to deal with, but you’ll come back stronger than ever! You probably pushed things too hard too fast imo. Best of luck big guy!
hope you can recover fast and well for your strongman come back. Good luck for your surgery and rehab
Praying for your full recovery champ!
Keep strong Hathor. You will be back stronger
Like rayan crowley
Imma say it again . Take care of your health. Your body is the vehicle that will allow you to travel though life . Do not risk it so much. You are maybe the strongest man that has ever walked on this planet when you were at your peak. Take care of yourself . I wish you soon recovery and good luck with the surgery
Thrilled to see your journey! Love that you stay positive, great guy
Praying for you brother 🙏.
Get well, quickly.
You handle this situation like a real Champ. We all know you will come back stronger, wish you all the best Hafthor. You will break the record and become a legend.
You are literally encouraging him to have more injuries or die dozens of years younger of a heart failure, you are awesome dude.
@@dragasinbrankovic longevity is overrated. Better a short life and achieve a lot than a long life and achieve nothing.
@@TwilightOperative Why tho?
Nikola Tesla imo was one of top 5 achievers of all time and in much more important field than lifting heavy things.
Does it matter to him now that he's dead? I would say absolutely no.
It's all ego trips, I am fine with that when it doesn't hurt the health.
And besides, shouldn't people change the fields after some time.
Thor did a lot and now he would have to go through a year or more of hell in order to add 10, 20, 30kilos at best to his record which will most likely be surpassed by some new 25 year old guy putting his life on the line for 1 kilo more the next day.
This is madness, especially for a father.
@@dragasinbrankovic I think it's a crappy mentality to reason that you have to live safely because you have kids. That's not the mentality that men should have imho, military, police officers, firefighters, mma fighters and top athletes in general you name it, all professions that involve many risks. If you're going to live with the idea I'll just sit on the couch and let go of my passion because then I'll get older for my kids I actually think that's very weak and I personally think you should live every day like it's your last day on this earth.
I had a similar injury few years back, i have problems with throwing action, it will take some time to recover but the good thing is once it gets healed the hand gets stronger than the once before the injury and you will be able to lift heavier 💪. I will pray for faster recovery, stay strong brother.
Did you have surgery?
I'll keep you in my prayers sir. Thanks for continuing to inspire.
I wish you good luck with surgery and a quick and complete recovery. I send you a lot of strenght from Spain.
Hey man, surgery is scary no matter how tough you are. I have to go talk to a surgeon about an upper abdominal hernia surgery, AND I dont have health insurance. Stay strong my friend. I wish you the best in your recovery. You've got this 👍 💪
I wish you the best in your surgery and recovery!
@@ourclarioncall Placebo and prayers can't heal such a physical injury like a protruding intestine.
I am biggest of believers but faith has it's limitations.
Spiritual stuff can definitely help or even completely heal psychological stuff like PTSD, depression, anxiety and physical symptoms that come from the mind, but torn tendon, hernia and the like forget it.
@@dragasinbrankovic greetings from Scotland 🏴 my friend . I’m not sure how to respond to your comment. It would probably take too long to discuss here. I don’t really know what you believe or believe in. I just feel it’s my duty as a follower of Jesus Christ to make known what is offered freely to sinners through the gospel. A testimony of physical healing is very powerful and hard to argue with. Of course it’s more powerful when it’s happened to someone you know very well and trust they speak the truth. I could not doubt God heals physically even if I wanted to. Jesus himself healed physically, taught his disciples to heal and commanded the church in what we call the great commission to go preach the gospel and heal etc etc. The church is to continue the work Jesus began in the New Testament. A friend of mine was due to get two knee replacements and God healed him the night before surgery. I was there when a woman with a golf ball sized lump was prayed for and doctors confirmed it gone. A man that he had mouth cancer as a child and his dad fasted and prayed for him for over 10 days and God healed him. My grandmother saw the name of a disease that was in her daughters body appear before her eyes in gold writing. A woman in a church about 20 miles from me who was either deaf or dumb (I forget now) who went to church for years was healed and can speak or hear. The list goes on and on. We live in a world full of doubt , fear and unbelief….these stories inspires faith and hope.
@@ourclarioncall I witnessed miracles for myself but none included healing of physical issues.
Mine miracles I have witnessed are seeing ghosts many times throughout my life, two times I saw them with another person(different guys and ghosts each time), having perception of the future exactly how it happened a few hours later, seeing who was coming to my house and what they where wearing and in how much time they will be there which was accurate to the last detail and second and being able to know a person to the last detail of their character and what they do in their daily life and what separates them from the love of God without ever seeing them before(it's like a glitch in a matrix i shouldn't know this information).
And biggest of all miracles was when I lost my sense of self and merged into light out of this world which is all loving, powerful and present along with all other attributes that are a common thread in all religions when describing God.
I can't say that miracles that you are describing are impossible because all of these and many more that happened to me but I have a strong skeptic tendencies and can only totally believe in something when I have undeniable proof(personal experience) of it, I was a devout atheist until I saw and merged with the all present light that holds this world in existence which I can only call God.
Now I am atheist no more but in that light there was no religious figures or even words, just pure ecstatic Oneness that is totally unexplainable with words it's beyond them and no "holy book" or organization can claim that they posses It(he she it, these are just human words and concepts) or are exclusive one "right path" to It.
As with everything in life when I see thise healings I will believe it but I totally don't rule it out as impossible.
I love religion much more than atheism but spirituality is my cup of tea, have a good one.
Slow and steady wins this one.
All the best Thor, hope the surgery goes well. Look forward to following you on the road to recovery.
wishing you a successful surgery, love your optimisim, very inspiring ❤
