The 3rd cake shows the decorator’s impressive techniques. However, the 2nd came definitely fits the theme perfectly.

The third cake is AMAZING IN EVERY WAY!!!!!! however, the second one really nailed the "icecream day" theme much harder. Theyre both awesome in their own ways :)
The second cake is beautiful for me. The fact that it looks busy simply shows a lot of techniques in putting it together. I like its extravagance and variety of color!!!😊 😊 😊 😊 The third one was beautiful and the first one was not on the same level as the other two, especially since it fell apart despite its simple structure.

Maybe for a next video idea, you could pay each bakery $500 for example, and then, you also have the same budget and time frame to create your own cake, so then you could compare your cake and the bakeries
The cakes from bakery are not really worth 500$ in ingredients, you have to take in count the time passed on regarding the salary of the baker, the rent for the place, some more money for living,...

The last cake seems to been worth more than $500.. they went all out.. the 2nd cake was worth the $500 & the 1st one seemed to be worth $250…. Still would like to see you vs the bakery(íes) making same cake.. that would be awesome

Ok so i actually really loved the first cake, maybe not for $500 but i thought it was a fun and fresh idea. It was an elegant and sophisticated take on ice cream. Also that bakery has a strong identity. I would know what to expect when i went to them (based on this and the stag cake). If its not your style then go somewhere else, lol.
The other 2 were very impressive! That third one though, that bakery needs to charge more!

Has to be said that the 3rd cake, while impressive, was still just a round cake with an awesome topper. The 2nd cake was way more creative and exciting.

I would say based upon the visuals and the description that the second cake was the winner for me. It had the taste, smell, and theme down perfectly. The third cake would is a perfect unicorn themed cake and comes in second.

2 was my favorite. The unicorn on cake 3 didn't really make sense to me. It'd be a great cake if you wanted a unicorn holding ice cream, but for just the theme of "ice cream?", cake 2 won
The first one was pretty and well done, but I feel like they basically took your money. If they can't make a $500 cake for ANY reason then they should just say so and discuss with the customer what can be done with the time given and then price out that cake. The reveal of the second one made me gasp and the reveal of the third made "Holy shit!" pop out of my mouth.

Maybe they just aren't creative in coming up with ideas. Perhaps she should give more directions. I know she asked for a 3D cake, but even though it was disappointing, they gave her a 3D cake.
Garden-themed but only minimal flowers allowed! I'd love to see the elements each bakery puts together to give it a garden feel without relying on the flowers. I think they could use things like little fences, gnomes, benches, trellises, etc.
The second cake was by far my favorite. It genuinely looked WAYY more appetizing to me.

Yeah I worked at the most popular patisery in my city and we had extreamly tallented cake decorators. for a two tired simple fondant cake with toppers that would at most be $150-$200. The first one although cute was a compleate rip off.

I saw the first cake and I was like “Wow, that’s so pretty!”
Then I saw the second and third cake.
I wish you had deconstructed them just to see how they did all of it. As a fellow cake decorator it’s a constant curiosity with the more interesting cakes you judge.

I’m in the minority here as I actually *love* the first cake, it’s neat and tidy, obviously ice cream themed, the colours are pretty and the little details with the gold leaf and sprinkles finish it off nicely. The second cake looks like it would taste the best, but it’s also a little messy and looks like the cheapest to me. The third cake looks like soooo much sickly icing and doesn’t really strike me as having anything much to do with ice cream, it’s more of a child’s unicorn themed cake. All very impressive cakes though ☺️❤️
Yeah I think personal taste needs to be accounted for! And it kind of can’t be when bakeries are given vague blanket instructions but of course that’s the point of these videos. Still super cool cakes across the board.

The first one is aesthetically the most professional looking. Its definitely "less" fun though than the 2nd. I think the 2nd wins overall even though I think it does look cluttered because its reminiscent of those crazy sundaes I use to get as a kid. Also her saying it literally smells like strawberries... That is part of a cakes experience and shouldnt be discounted.
I completely agree. I also loved the first cake. It was simple, elegant & the small details were done to perfection. Plus, I think it was the most polished of the three. The second was fun but it looked a little gaudy & messy to me. The last, though impressive, looked more suitable for a child.
The design of the first is definitely more to my taste but to others the second or third is; therefore, whether someone likes or dislikes the design is obviously dependent on personal aesthetic preference - that’s why it’s so important that customers make it explicitly clear to bakers what style of design it is that they’re looking for.
I was hoping to see the cakes deconstructed - especially the last two as the first one deconstructed itself 🤣

It sounds like a good thing, but I think doing that might get the bakery’s overcrowded with orders, and not have enough time to get them done

Absolutely stunning. Those last two cakes were phenomenal. I am in awe of that incredible talent and they were both worth more than $500! That first cake was nice enough, but a bit basic and maybe worth $250, not $500.

Wow, the 2nd and 3rd cakes were just outstanding! The two cake artists that worked on them clearly had fun with the creative freedom they were given. The first one was pretty but underwhelming and it fell over; I'd expect more for a $500 cake with creative freedom.
I think the first bakery go for simplicity, cleanliness and well exercuted. I like that tbh. That's their style and I respect that.

I 100% cast my vote for the 2nd cake. It screams ice cream extravaganza! The unicorn ballerina didn't really have an ice cream theme. It's like they stuck a cone in there as an afterthought.
The 2nd one had soooo much detail, & the effort that had to go behind it, especially how it was structured! Just talent! The 3rd was was sooo WOW🤩 simple & cute!! Love it.

I really feel like the first cake was incredible and worth the cash! Talented artists should be paid well for their time. It's not just the cake, but the hours they spent perfecting it.
As someone who made cakes for years, I could see it leaning before she said anything, they didn't use proper techniques and as a customer if it fell like that I would be devastated and ask for some sort of reimbursement. She also said the flavors weren't great which at that price point all of that should have been top notch and perfect.
The fact that it fell the next day means not worth $500. It had the most basic structure

Man some of these bakeries make me feel like they scammed you a little bit...if they can't do a cake worth $500 then they should say that and partly refund you at least. Not just take $500 from someone.

The first one had the most polish. There wasn't as much decoration, but everything they did do was perfect. The others had places where the fondant wasn't laying flat or had very visible seams.

@@rainbeau9148 It wasn't over-the-top like the others, but I wouldn't call 3-D icecream cone sculptures basic. The level of polish on that cake takes a lot of time and expertise to do properly, and it is absolutely not easy to get it right.
Idk, I really love the first one and I immediately was reminded of the stag cake before you revealed it was the same bakery. IMO they’re both simple and clean in a sophisticated kind of way while still being whimsical, and have a lot of artistic talent behind them

I think the first cake missed the mark by several miles. The second cake was definitely a perfect ice cream cake. The third cake, while over the top, did not scream ice cream to me. 🤷

Yeah, I think that aspect is pretty subjective. For me, the 2nd cake was WAY too overboard on the ice cream theme and was very busy... still awesome though. The third one dialed it back but still stayed on theme and had a HUGE wow factor. That said, I agree that it could have used a bit more of the theme. Like maybe the unicorn standing on one HUGE scoop of melting ice cream or something else simple that wouldn't have made it too busy. Some people though like busy... like I said, kind of subjective.

The 3rd cake took the elements that I liked about the first two and created the perfect cake that literally "fit the bill" imo. The first cake was beautiful and refined but maybe not worth $500, and the 2nd cake was worth the $500 but you would have to really be into wild and creative cakes to love it and the third cake I think would be great in any setting and you got what you paid for.

I was curious about the 2nd and 3rd cakes too. I was hoping she'd cut into the unicorn and some of the toppings of the 2nd cake so that could see what was used, how it was created, how you could realistically cut and serve these cakes, etc.

Also a little more closeup time on the cake itself so we can read the bubbles. 😁 Like closeups of pushing the fork into the cake, so we can have a better understanding of the cake’s density, moistness and such.

I love the first cake I just think if you'd asked for 3D SCULPTED you'd have gotten something other than round cakes. That third cake is EXACTLY what id expect when asking for a 500$, sculpted, 3D, ice cream , cake. 🥰

We call the second dessert “The Kitchen Sink” here in Orlando FL, partly because they literally put everything in it but the kitchen sink, and partly because it’s served in an oversized bowl shaped like a kitchen sink.

The third cake is awesome, but still a round cake with a topper - an amazing, incredible topper though! Loads and loads better than the first one. For the theme I like the second cake the best. The first one was cute, but not worth $500.

I felt the same. 3rd cake had a wow factor, but like it was just a regular cake with some fondant unicorn. sure, it takes lots of skill to make it, keep it straight etc, but how cake-y it actually was? lol
I feel like the second cake fit the ice cream theme better. The last cake was the most worth it because that takes a great amount of skill, considering fondant dries up really quickly. If the theme was unicorn or pastel then definitely the last cake would have won, in my book, at least.
I prefer simpler, neater cakes like the first one, but wow, the third cake is a stunner. It delivered in creativity.

I favourite the unicorn cake. It is a lot of struggle just to ice a cake perfectly but to make a structured unicorn out of edible foods?! Incredible cakes! I just want to eat them through the screen 😲

for the third cake, when everything looks amazing, the smallest mistake, no matter how minor it is, will stick out even more.. first cake look dated, but still classy. 2nd cake looked amazing. I was thinking no way would it be topped. The 3rd bakery said "hold my beer".

I really think you should give a shout-out to the bakery that made the top cake each time. Not all three, just the top one. Shoot some business their way! That might urge all the bakeries to do their best too because they’d want to be the best in order to get the shout-out. Healthy competition!
I would like to see each Bakery‘s breakdown of costs - like what was the cost for their materials versus their labor etc. then Laurie could compare what she makes - seeing if her costs are higher if she doesn’t have access to a quantity baking supplies, and what should be her “labor cost per hour”
The second cake really hit the ice cream team with the look and taste of the cake, the first one was ridiculous it’s cute but not worth that much and the unicorn one was so pretty and worth the money, I would get that for my daughter. Great video 👏🥰
Every last cake was so beautiful I really enjoyed watching but my favorite cake was the one with the unicorn on top that was something I've never seen before. Amazing video I can't wait to see what's next.
