People can really enjoy games at ultra settings 1080p for a very long time as companies are busy chasing 4k. This makes a mid range cpu + gpu an absolute win for everyone on a budget. I have a pc with i7 6800k cpu and a 1070 which at it's release was a good 1440p card. Fantastic review. I do photo and video editing, and though my desktop Ryzen works great for that, I plan on doing a lot of traveling this year so I just ordered this thing for video editing. I'm pairing it with a c-force c-air, which linus did a review of, it's a 12 inch insanely thin screen which apparently had 100% adobe color, and 1000:1 contrast. I guess I'll find out when they arrive in a week or so :)
@@tioan93 I'm super bummed about the AMD option because that would have been my pick. Limiting the RAM and GPU options was a bad move. I would have loved that new Ryzen, but Intel is the only real option for the Legions. Can't wait for those to go on pre-order so we'll know much much each configuration will cost.
Great review, I must say. The not so good quality display can be forgiven considering the hardware it offers at the price point, considering that the TUF Line was never known for having that and mainly targeted for gaming only. Still this is a good step up from the previous TUF series, considering the top of the line CPU, plenty of ram, big capacity ssd, big battery, 144 hz display and Freesync support, Gsync support in external monitor. The build quality is pretty solid with MIL-STD Certification even with its plastic build. Also, while the gaming performance is similar to an Intel i7 9750H laptop with same GPU but the cpu performance is way higher than it, comparable to i9-9980H 8 core cpu which will be like $1000 more than this, with same gpu, storage and Ram. For the productivity, although the display is not suitable, for running cpu intensive tasks, number crunching, coding, software compilations etc. I guess display is the only section they cut the price to provide the rest of the spec at this price point.

Hardware Unboxed just posted their review of this laptop, there is major intake and exhaust issues with this laptop and inadequate cooling. I recommend you return your laptop and get something like a Zephyrus G14 or other AMD alternative laptop.
I really like that you included benchmarks with games at both medium and ultra. I like to tweak things like shadows to get a better frame rate will still keeping as much eye candy as possible so I think this gives me a good idea of what I might be able to do.
I spotted both Asus TUF A15 and A17 with the lowest specs (Ryzen 5 4600H, 1650 Ti, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 48Wh battery) at about 960€ in a french website (fnac.com) (don't know for the others european countries, but consider that in France the laptops may be a little more expensive due to the taxes). At the moment it's not that interesting compared to the model reviewed here, however it'll be interestring to see how it evolves (especially about the new models and the price). Great video !
If you want good temps for Ryzen 4000 mobile series you could try adjusting the processor boost(that leaves it to 2900mhz- it goes over this target if the system can manage it). After that the CPU stays at 80 degrees and the fps almost the same(the bottleneck is the GPU in these laptops). Put this command in CMD(run as administrator): powercfg.exe -attributes sub_processor perfboostmode -attrib_hide . After that go in power plan->change plan settings->under processor power management->processor performance boost mode-> efficient agressive.

A few days ago, I learned about the XMG Apex 15. Canceled my TUF A15 preorder because of it. It seems so much better for a similar price. Undervolting (in fact, plenty of power user features), can handle 64 GB RAM, has an aluminum lid and a bigger battery than at least the TUF available in Europe (no 90 Wh batteries here right now, only 48). And that's just at a comparable price. Price was never the problem for me, I just wanted the most efficient CPU (heat/noise versus performance), the most RAM and best GPU. And it looks like an undervolted 3900 in eco mode will be ideal for that. Also RTX 2070 instead of 2060. And all of that is still merely ~1670 EUR. Awesome. (AND one will be able to swap the CPU for a 4000 desktop series once they are released. Which is just insane for a laptop!! I wouldn't do that right now but after a few years, breathing a bit of life into it by upgrading to the best then-compatible CPU? Hell yeah!)
Great future PC gaming and I do want to own one. Portable and convenient and powerful enough to run the games we love and more! Love the positive review!

Hey! That's not a tramp stamp! I have that same logo tattooed on my butt cheek. Nilay Patel does have it on his tailbone though.
If you SCREW in with CONFIDENCE, it won't matter what size the screw is. If it doesn't seem right, just use more confidence.
Solid advice friend.
Is that how you got that screw to go through the radiator on your build?
You also need to use those tweesers to secure things in place after screwing with confidence
You're pushing way out of your league man
But I don't have a swiss army knife with a screwdriver. Just a screwdriver.
After 4 years I get 60+ fps on all games at ultra at 1080p and I am pretty sure I can last a few more years on this system.
Great review. Subscribed :D
would you also review the MSI GS 66 sister? I'd appreciate it
I would have loved to see some actual game performance and benchmarks on this machine but overall a very informative review.
Thanks Poison Ivy :)
Shes cute as Poison Ivy.
probably best for money are 1660ti+ 4800h on 15,6inch for 999$
With probably more downside?
Nah, I think it's better to wait for its own specific review
@@ipungipung90 what downside?? wtf you bullshiting now?? so you think that 4800h are slower or worse then some shitty i5 9300h or 3750h ryzen and you already have reviews where 4800h/4900h beats in most tasks Intel i7 10875h
We need crossovers to happen in UA-cam reviews. I’m voting for a crossover that has you mam doing a tech review/discussion with ownordisown and jarrodstech. The three of you whom I follow for all gaming laptops related talk, keep up the great work you three!!
2019: 600 $ is affordable
2020 : 1000$ is affordable
2021 : 2000$ is affordable
2022 : 5000$ is affordable
gaming laptops were never 600 lmao
Fantastic review. I do photo and video editing, and though my desktop Ryzen works great for that, I plan on doing a lot of traveling this year so I just ordered this thing for video editing. I'm pairing it with a c-force c-air, which linus did a review of, it's a 12 inch insanely thin screen which apparently had 100% adobe color, and 1000:1 contrast. I guess I'll find out when they arrive in a week or so :)
Thank you! And if you use the proper calibrated screen for editting, why not? :) #hype? :)
Waiting to see what lenovo comes out with
They're taking so long to release the 5i and 7i. I don't know how long I can wait before pulling the trigger on this.
@@MarcusArtorius saw a presentation clip posted by OwnOrDisown....they battered the amd laptops with gtx 1650 gpu on them as top option
Thanks for these reviews, your channel is great!
Im still getting it despite the screen being meh. Definitely a big upgrade compared to my Acer Aspire 3 😭
I have a six year old laptop. I'm sure the screen is fine. 🤣
I'm getting this and it's alot better than my HP notebook that has an Intel i3 4th gen 6 gigs of RAM and integrated graphics
I guess display is the only section they cut the price to provide the rest of the spec at this price point.
thanks! and very accurate :)
@@TechTesters will the 1660ti model of a15 and 2060rtx would be of considerable difference in performance?... also, if i buy the @17 having the 120hz screen with 1660ti would the screen performance be noticibly less? than the @15's 144hz screen????
@@kingslayer5575 There is no review available for the 17" model but based on the spec, price point and initial impression, both A17 and A15 are having pretty similar display.
I HAVE THIS LAPTOP AND I PLAY GAMING THE TEMP GOING UP TO 96 C !!!! TOO HIGH !!!
96c is way too high, it's getting up into damage over long term high temperature. I'd really suggest checking the fans/internals for dust, and checking the cpu attachment points for proper contact and replace the thermal paste.
Just undervolt your GPU a bit. Will be fine. (75 deg. C max)
Whats your room temperature?
Hardware Unboxed just posted their review of this laptop, there is major intake and exhaust issues with this laptop and inadequate cooling. I recommend you return your laptop and get something like a Zephyrus G14 or other AMD alternative laptop.

I really like that you included benchmarks with games at both medium and ultra. I like to tweak things like shadows to get a better frame rate will still keeping as much eye candy as possible so I think this gives me a good idea of what I might be able to do.

999$ for a 1660 Ti with awesome CPU, 500Gig SSD and big battery? Hows that not great :D
@@TechTesters I want a review on that vs bravo
I usually don't put comments, but you are fantastic, best review ever!!
Hey asus, why on earth there is "\" next to the left shift key?
Fahdhi Nashatya EU
An extra key with superior placement? Yes please.
This is how to review tech. Very informative. Thank you so much!
Honestly I still prefer asus zephyrus g14, just for the looks 🤣
The meme machine
Very nice review and that wifi adapter replacement was something i didn't know and didn't saw in other reviews. That helped me. Thanks.
Happy I could help, thanks! :D
This laptop is trash. Do not buy. The laptop gets as hot as ur mother.
I am going to buy 1660ti and 4800H model, is this review any different? Great review by the way.
It's mostly the same really. Just make sure it's a 90Wh model if you can.
Oh and on another site (materiel.net) i just found the TUF A15 with Ryzen 7-4800H, RTX 2060, RAM 16 GB, SSD 1 TB, battery 48Wh at 1500€
So, wait & see
Thank you for the review just picked it up in my country and it meets all my needs and you can see the review is totally on par and unbiased.
Nice video! What would you estimate the GTX 1660 Ti A15 performance drop off compared to this?
I have the same doubt
I've been waiting for thos review. Thank you
Thanks for you point of view, will be my choice today. fits my budget
Thank you so much for this review I'm waiting from long time. Thank you so much
That pc tower massive in your studio
If you want good temps for Ryzen 4000 mobile series you could try adjusting the processor boost(that leaves it to 2900mhz- it goes over this target if the system can manage it). After that the CPU stays at 80 degrees and the fps almost the same(the bottleneck is the GPU in these laptops). Put this command in CMD(run as administrator): powercfg.exe -attributes sub_processor perfboostmode -attrib_hide . After that go in power plan->change plan settings->under processor power management->processor performance boost mode-> efficient agressive.
I'll be happy to take a look at that!
wow this channel is so underrated
THANK YOU !!!
My computer decided to die this weekend apparently, so I’m trying to look for a new laptop to buy in case my old one can’t be repaired. Honestly, this laptop is perfect for what I’m looking for and has everything I need for school and games. And to be fair, it’s really not a terrible price point for a pretty good laptop, at least in my opinion.
Thanks for the video and thanks for making my laptop search easier!
My pleasure! :)
This is highly recommended video for a gaming laptop! My son will definitely love this. :) Thank you!
Thank you!
I only just started watching your channel, 2 videos in and you really introduce these machines different. Very informative, straightforward, and encompassing. Will sub thanks.
Cant belive that a woman gave me the best laptop review than any other youtuber and acutally made me want to buy this bad boy
My aser gaming laptop broke a week ago, I’m looking forward to getting this when I get my paycheck ☺️
Thanks for the video, dropped a like.
Hope this comes to the UK at £999 or a fraction cheaper.
Will say tho, as someone who has the attention span of a puppy, it took me a few times skipping back the video to rewatch stuff I missed... Because i spent half the video thinking " 🤔 Hang on there succulent and other hardy plants, why do they need a key light and why has a case that size got handles, good luck carrying it comfortably when it's full of parts and water-cooling" 🤨😅
So much eye candy! XD Thx for another excellent review!
Great review, keep up the quality content 👍🏻
What do you think it in comparison with last year Helios 300 ??
Helios 300 is still much better than this over powered but low quality materials, keyboard and screen amd tuf.
Finally found what I have been searching for! Thank you!
U2...…. me 2 just ordered mine on amazon uk out of stock hopefully not along wait.
This is what i was looking for, thanks!
Hell yeah!)
This is an extremely extremely good review. Thumbs up.
Thank you! :)
I absolutely LOVE your videos❤️! You deserve more subcribers👍🏻👍🏻! Greetings from Austria :-)
Whats not to love lol.
I always win smart phones and laptops on line and I always have to wait on the list.
Great future PC gaming and I do want to own one. Portable and convenient and powerful enough to run the games we love and more! Love the positive review!
Cheers!
Just discover the channel and just with this review you win a new sub. great review
Awesome studio setup.
I'm glad you like it :D
What do you think about this one for photo editing??
Am I first again? God, I must really love your videos...
ooorrrr... orr.. ur a simp
Great review , just wanted to ask something about the device, does it have G Sync?
Yes.
No
Roland Strauss it has adaptive sync not gsync
Over 4200 Cinebench R20 Score?! Holy crap that's 100 points more than my overclocked Ryzen 2700X DESKTOP CPU!!
The only bad thing is that terrible color reproduction though. I would much prefer 60Hz and 100% sRGB.
Thanks very much for the review!
