      @ragingtyga 4 роки тому +5

      The problem I have with a a lot of reviewers is they go off tangents. Dave, much respect, but he's NOTORIOUS for that. I usually have to click ahead because I'm waiting for him to get to the point, and he then leaves out stuff that's important. It's ok to give your impression and thoughts on a device, But I need to know ABOUT the device first, and she just does a better job of balancing that

      @@ValdezJu yeah I ALMOST considered this one too, it's frustrating that ASUS has exclusivity right now on the 4900HS, but still will only shoehorn midgrade graphics in the G14, and worse of all, they don't even bother to include a damn webcam. If the G14 had a cam and and a 2070, it would be THE laptop to buy. period.

      You're going for an RTX model? Just FYI, you don't use a laptop for gaming. Just because they say you can, doesnt mean you should. I went with the $899 model, and I use it for game dev and as a general work station. If you're wanting something to play games, you can make an RTX pc for around $500 to $800. Way less than that if you go with an ITX build. The RTX gpus are about $150 I think for the smaller ITX models.
      Never play games on a laptop. Regardless of how they're advertised, they cannot play games.

    Very nice review with one exception, you completely skipped over the main feature of the TUF series, which is its durability. The series is built to MIL-SPEC and lasts longer in rougher environments, special dust-filter fans, etc. That's the reason they have the bulkier chassis as well. For people who travel (or deploy) often, this is a huge consideration.

    Hey guys! So I own the 2060 variant, which at stock holds 95C/86C on the CPU/GPU. However, by disabling turbo boost on the CPU (or alternatively, capping its TDP using Ryzen Controller) and simultaneously undervolting/overclocking the GPU using MSI Afterburner, I have achieved GREAT temps, holding now 85C/80C (if not lower, depending on the game), all without ANY drop in framerates whatsoever.
    So while the machine does run hot at stock, there are certainly things that can be done to remedy that problem!

      I should note that my temps are based on having the "Performance" profile set in Armoury Crate (because my personal preference is to have higher temps with lower fan noise). This means though, that whoever wants to possibly see even better temps, they can certainly try the "Turbo" profile if they'd like!

    Fantastic review. I do photo and video editing, and though my desktop Ryzen works great for that, I plan on doing a lot of traveling this year so I just ordered this thing for video editing. I'm pairing it with a c-force c-air, which linus did a review of, it's a 12 inch insanely thin screen which apparently had 100% adobe color, and 1000:1 contrast. I guess I'll find out when they arrive in a week or so :)

    Great review, I must say. The not so good quality display can be forgiven considering the hardware it offers at the price point, considering that the TUF Line was never known for having that and mainly targeted for gaming only. Still this is a good step up from the previous TUF series, considering the top of the line CPU, plenty of ram, big capacity ssd, big battery, 144 hz display and Freesync support, Gsync support in external monitor. The build quality is pretty solid with MIL-STD Certification even with its plastic build. Also, while the gaming performance is similar to an Intel i7 9750H laptop with same GPU but the cpu performance is way higher than it, comparable to i9-9980H 8 core cpu which will be like $1000 more than this, with same gpu, storage and Ram.
    For the productivity, although the display is not suitable, for running cpu intensive tasks, number crunching, coding, software compilations etc. I guess display is the only section they cut the price to provide the rest of the spec at this price point.

    If you want good temps for Ryzen 4000 mobile series you could try adjusting the processor boost(that leaves it to 2900mhz- it goes over this target if the system can manage it). After that the CPU stays at 80 degrees and the fps almost the same(the bottleneck is the GPU in these laptops). Put this command in CMD(run as administrator): powercfg.exe -attributes sub_processor perfboostmode -attrib_hide . After that go in power plan->change plan settings->under processor power management->processor performance boost mode-> efficient agressive.

    A few days ago, I learned about the XMG Apex 15. Canceled my TUF A15 preorder because of it.
    It seems so much better for a similar price. Undervolting (in fact, plenty of power user features), can handle 64 GB RAM, has an aluminum lid and a bigger battery than at least the TUF available in Europe (no 90 Wh batteries here right now, only 48).
    And that's just at a comparable price. Price was never the problem for me, I just wanted the most efficient CPU (heat/noise versus performance), the most RAM and best GPU. And it looks like an undervolted 3900 in eco mode will be ideal for that. Also RTX 2070 instead of 2060. And all of that is still merely ~1670 EUR. Awesome.
    (AND one will be able to swap the CPU for a 4000 desktop series once they are released. Which is just insane for a laptop!! I wouldn't do that right now but after a few years, breathing a bit of life into it by upgrading to the best then-compatible CPU? Hell yeah!)
