Wanna learn how to hang drywall on ceilings the easy way?
If the answer's YES, then you'll love our video tutorial. Steve White from SRW Contracting (www.srwcontract...) shows you how he hangs drywall by himself.
All you need are a few tools and some elbow grease, which always comes in handy :D
Steve remodels bathrooms every week and the first step, after demo, is to install the ceiling.
Often times he's by himself. So he uses a drywall lift to hang ceilings. This costs about $40 to rent, although Steve owns one.
Once the drywall is flush to the the ceiling joist you can screw it to the joist using an impact driver and drywall setter. The setter costs about $5 for a set of 4.
Make sure the drywall is square with the top plate. Then you can drill screws every 16 inches on the Xs that are on the drywall. If your joists are 24 on center you should apply a bead of liquid nail to them then attach the drywall.
For more tips on how to hang drywall on ceilings check out Steve's video

Hey I just wanted to thank you guys for this simple yet excellent and helpful tip. My mom just let me know her kitchen ceiling drywall had broken and fallen down Friday night. I work at a hardware store and have never done this so I’ll be helping her situate this and give her joy again. God bless you guys! Again, thank you for this it truly means the most. She sounded so down and out and now she’ll be happy and stress free ❤

I was told that you start by placing the edge of your sheetrock against the exterior wall side, they say it is straighter than interior wall sides. Also I was told that corners cannot meet, that they must be staggered, away from each other. Other considerations are protecting electric and plumbing so as not to drill a screw through them. And also for old work to insulate/reinsulate ceiling, if needed.

He said " he likes Coarse thread screws because they run better." Coarse thread drywall screws are meant for wood studs/floor joists and fine thread are for steel stud framing! It's not preference but function. Coarse thread drywall screws will barely bite a 22 gauge steel stud IF YOU'RE LUCKY!

I"m watching this to see how the ceiling studs look because I am installing a new dining room light fixture and I cannot find the studs!...I removed the old fixture and that leaves about a four or five inch whole in the drywall....sticking a long screwdriver up in there in all directions I cannot contact or feel a stud anywhere!...so frustrating! I tried to use magnets but the drywall is 3/4" thick and that did not work and my cheap stud finder is worthless.....the NEW fixture is a stained wooden box 6 inches wide by about 3 feet long and four or five inches deep with light bulbs hanging down under the box a bit.....
