I’m a 66 year old lady with little money and a lot of things I have to do myself. This was awesome. Thank you young man.
You're welcome. Glad it was helpful.
Doubt you did this to be honest. It’s still a huge strain.
@@SammyEddie why doubt when we can encourage and enable our fellow human
Not too much of a sexist comment. For the record, I have a 50-year-old woman who is doing better carpentry work than most men and she’s strong as an ox.. The 1950s have long passed us.
Well done. This is the blueprint for a DIY tutorial video. Walk through the problem, the materials, the solutions and a demonstration. No filler, annoying music or unnecessary filler. Liked and subscribed.
Thank you Joe
Awesome! I was shopping around to buy a drywall lift. Now I'll save that $200. I'm 67 years old and recently built my 24x24 workshop 100% by myself. Next I'll be getting a ceiling... all by myself. LOL. Thanks for the video. SUBSCRIBED!
Glad it was helpful
Way easier than what I was planning on doing in about a hour. Thanks for saving me from a head ache
Glad to help
my dads friend and basically my uncle when i was little i watched hang 12 footers on a ceiling by himself with a t made out of 2x4s. i dont remember exsactly how he did it but i remember being very impressed at how fast he did it. and how fast he was putting those screws in. he was a Vietnam vet but he was such a good drywaller. everyone called him david guitar larson cause he was always playing and singing blues songs and was just a great guy. RIP dave larson
I have put off installing the ceiling in my shop for longer than I care to admit. Now with your simple but so effective suggestions I feel I can now quit stalling. By myself. Thank you so much.
You're welcome
I am 65 and have to do this myself. Bless you dear your a lifesaver.
You're welcome
Remodeling our 1989 5th wheel skamper kitchen had horrible water damage so I had to replace all the studs partial of the flooring and now working on the ceiling only paid 2,000 for my camper so I think I gotta pretty good deal 🤝🏽 just a lot of work by myself thanks for helping
Glad it was helpful
@CountryLivingExperience I could totally hug you for this video! You just saved me a lot of frustration! Happy New year!
Glad it helped!
Thank You So Much For Making This Great Video! I am remodeling most of the main floor in my house mostly by myself. I am a 58 year old woman and do not have the strength I once had (though I hate like h&!/ admitting that LOL). I look for ideas and tips like this to help me. I really appreciate you taking the time to teach others!
You're very welcome.
genius, thanks! i only did ceiling drywall once, with an old Italian guy with a hernia. he was "teaching" me. he would lift and I would try to brace the center with a single 2x4, then we would both scream at each other until it was sort of tacked on. this method looks much more sensible haha
Glad it was helpful.
Was going to buy a drywall lift over $200, but after watching this video, I think using your method I can hang the drywall by myself tomorrow. Thanks for sharing this video!!
Glad it was helpful.
I’m a 472 year old wildabeast and I have to hang a bunch of drywall myself. This trick is going to save me so much time
I'm glad I came across this. I had a fairly similar way of installing ceilings. I like yours better and I look forward to giving it a try on my next remodel. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Very cool. You’re welcome
Love the video! If I might suggest show a picture of the pieces all together first then start with the induvial parts breakdown. It would give a better understanding for the first time through.
Thank You for this time saving information. I was considering buying a lift but this tutorial makes it look easier to install my drywall.
Whew.
Thank You.
Never committed on UA-cam. This is best info I've got. Ty so much
Glad it was helpful!
Nice trick. I've some sheets for a ceiling to place tomorrow. A ledger supporting the sheet will be fun.
Thanks for sharing your steps. I am not hanging sheet rock but plywood in a workshop ideas are basically same. The locking mechanism of 2x4,6 or 8 with 1/2” plywood is great idea!
You’re welcome. Glad it was helpful
Best video I've seen all week. Brilliant solution, short and to the point. Bravo!
Glad it was helpful
Brilliant! I'm going to do just that. I hope adding the center pieces won't be that bad. I wish you had a video for that, too!😢
This is brilliant! The last time I did a ceiling alone I rented a small lift. This video by Eric at CLE made the need for the lift go away. Thank you.
Thanks Brian
Very useful video. I’m about to start a project all by myself and was seriously thinking of renting a lift.
Thank you for showing me this trick! I was considering renting extra equipment as I am just a one man show here.
You’re welcome
That's absolutely ingenious! Where were you 2 years ago when I was hanging that nasty damned sheetrock! I broke about 3 sheets trying to get it on the ceiling by myself. My back will never be the same. This is such a neat way to do it. Many thanks!!!
Thank you
I agree lol putting sheetrock on my head and trying to hold it up and screw it in my neck has never been the same not to mention how many times I missed the stud!
That's awesome. As someone planning to be alone off grid this will help immensely. Thank you.
You're welcome. Glad it was helpful
This is very awesome! We just got done framing out a room in our garage and now we’re onto hanging the sheet rock and I was dreading doing the ceiling but not now after watching your video. Thank you for sharing this tip with the world!!
You’re welcome
Thanks, I have a ceiling to do tomorrow, but I'm furniture maker!
Great trick - simple and well explained. Nicely done! 👍🏼
Thank you
SO far the best hack for this I have found.
Thanks
Very helpful. I'm a 60 yr old woman on a farm. It costs me a lot for help and not much gets done because of that. Going to do the ceiling in my pantry . It a low ceiling and and small room. If goes good I will do the bathroom next
Glad it was helpful. You can do it!
😊that just made it easier for me ..thank you for the awesome easy video ,been watching videos on how to by yourself and they were so difficult ,i been bracing joists ,rafters and never thought of that simple trick ..so awesome 😊
You're welcome. Glad we could help.
Bad ass 🎉 I love it I’ve been remodeling my 100 year old house by myself and this is so far the only thing I’ve been struggling to do myself
Glad it was helpful
Nice! Thank you for showing me the most efficent to deal overhead drywall installing.
You’re welcome
Great tip, thanks! Congrats on the MSU win!
You're welcome and thank you.
I only made preparations for one side of the drywall. I staged my ladder about five feet from the wall, with the deadman leaning against it. Then I would insert the drywall into the support on the wall, lift the drywall, grab the deadman and wedge it under the side opposing the wall.
your video has been most useful for a DIYer hanging drywall by themselves!!
Glad it was helpful
Not a bad idea. You can also rent a self crank drywall lift that is very easy to use and there’s no need for blocks. The first few sheets will go a little slow, but as you get used to the lift you’ll move along at a faster speed.
My buddy just called and flaked on me for a game of golf....you just saved me. Thank you friend
Glad we could help
Excellent! Giving this a try today! Thanks.
You're welcome
Good Job! Two 4inch pieces are enough to hold it up so you can put in some screws.
If you can't tape and Mudd properly, the rest of the steps are still important. Just for his wife.
This is absolutely genius. I'm using this tomorrow.
Glad it was helpful
That's great for the edges. What about the center pieces?
I always used to use a boardclip for that and it worked well for me, a lot of people use to use deadmans too but I was always quicker with a clip.
overhead press, 3 sets of 2 to 6 reps
Same method, use a 2x with a 3/4" strip firmly attached (no swivel).place it over the first sheet you installed, one joist in from the end of the drywall (2× on top, 3/4" board toward the floor). Screw it through the drywall, a couple inches from the edge. That way the hole will be in the seam and not make more work for yourself. Do the same thing at the other end of the drywall. Then position a ladder about five feet out from the edge of the first piece of drywall and lean a dead man against it. Make sure the deadman won't fall over and break a window or damage drywall! Insert the second piece of drywall, raise the opposite edge, and wedge the deadman underneath.
I wish I knew your way to put up drywall on a ceiling when I was doing it for a living.
THANKS ALOT MATE.. I WILL DO IT TOMORROW
You’re welcome
What about the next row in? You don't have the advantage of the strip on the wall
My first thought
for the next row you screw in any piece of wood to the joist to slide the next piece in. and so on
Duh 🤣
Thank you so much, saved me so much time on my current job site✅✅✅
You’re welcome
Thanks for this brilliant and simple technique. Keep up the smart tutorials !’
You're welcome
Great info. Thank you for taking the time to make the video.
Thank you Mary.
Awesome. Very practical and will be a huge help. Thank you.
You're welcome
simple and effective, thanks for your video, i am definitely doing this this weekend!
You’re welcome
Brilliant, exactly what I needed. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Best video on this topic ever made!! Go Green!
Thank you. Go White!
This is a great idea but I’ve found a way to do more than the edges. I mounted a similar set up on a rolling painters scaffold so once the sheet is up I can move it anywhere I want it.
cool
Thank you, Sir, for your educational video. May God Bless you
You're welcome. God bless you as well.
best method I have ever seen for solo working
Thank you
Great idea I could use it for my house project . I have been scratching my head the whole day how to successfully hoist that damn dry wall… I failed today but will try your trick next time 😊!
Glad it was helpful
This tip just saved my life and probably marriage. Thanks.
You're welcome!
Thanks so much! Saved me from having to hire another person to replace one full sheet of ceiling sheetrock! Owner of the house stored a lot of electronic equipment balanced on the joists. Raccoons got in the attic and created havoc and damage to A/C and two holes in the ceiling. One hole was created when the electronic equipment was knocked off the joists crashing through the sheetrock. The other hole (3' in diameter) was created when damage to the A/C drip pan was damaged causing attic insulation to soak up water and eventually got the sheetrock wet which then fell through.
So, thank you for your vid!
You're very welcome. Glad you didn't have to hire someone.
At first I was like, "This man is doing too much." But when I saw how he used those scrap pieces . . . that's actually genius!
Thanks
Wow I knew I would find a solution to hanging Sheetrock by myself but this is genius…..so damn simple yet at the time harder that a Rubik’s cube. 😂 Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
We used to take 16 penny nails and nail a few of them 1/2 deep into the top plate 1” below the ceiling framing the length of the sheet. Hang the drywall and then pull the nails. Go to the next sheet. Much faster.
That sounds like a good trick too.
You mean like you busting the drywall thru the nails for it to hold? Sory if i misunderstand
@@Lawless187indika no busting through the board. The board just rests on top of the nails. They stick out of the wall an inch or so below the ceiling framing.
@@xltek1 ahhh, my bad. I jus reread where u said top plate,i was thinkning in the joist. Got it
Thanks bud
AMAZING you make it look so simple. Nice hack Thank you can't wait to see more!!!
Thank you.
Good tips. You get a pat on the back from me. Thanks for this advise.
Glad it was helpful!
Great tip and nice hat. Go Green!
Go White!
Thank you! I’ll be doing this trick this morning!
You're welcome.
Nice.... for the first piece against a wall. But what about the next piece that goes up 4 feet from the wall?
Funny he can't be bothered to answer your question but did just about everyone else's when they all told him his wonderful he was
Very clever. I could have used that 6 months ago when I did the ceiling of my 14x28 shop
Thanks. Sorry we didn’t get it out fast enough for y’all.
Absolutely brilliant tips. Thank you for sharing
You're welcome
That’s a good way of the to hang sheet rock. That beats the heck of a 2x4 with a brace on it.
Thanks
Amazing!!! Now I have to figure out how to do this in my attic that I’m converting into a room.
Glad it was helpful brother!
This was really helpful exactly what I needed appreciate it thanks
Glad it helped
It's helpful on new construction but I'm looking for replacing a ceiling with 3/8 material (my case - plywood). Really old house. May just find an extra hand
That only works against the wall and corners one but not in middle ones if you have a large room of course
Why would it not work ?
@@kevovernon If you're doing a piece in the middle of a room, you wouldn't be able to: 1) slide it up the wall like that, and 2) have the 2x2 to rest it on, because there would presumably already be a sheet of drywall where you'd need the 2x2 to go.
Great for the perimeter.
What about the middle sheets?
I use 3 inch screws on the end walls to hold it up.Butbyiur method works.Lifts get in the way
Cool. Thanks.
Thank you for his information.
You're welcome
I see a lot of video where folks put some type of caulking adhesive on the joists before screwing down the drywall. Any thoughts on whether this is necessary for ceilings/walls, pros/cons of it, and the type of adhesive? Thanks. Getting ready to completely gut and remodel my bathroom and laundry room with new gypsum.
Adding adhesive is good for rigidity and noise dampening but not 100% necessary. Some do it, some don’t.
Excellent tips and tricks, Thank you
My pleasure!
Thank you brother
God bless you
You’re welcome
Thanks brother!
Any time!
I am installing drywall myself in a mobile home. Will this technique work in a mobile home.
Sure
great video thanks for the tip
How do you lift the sheet when you are in the center of the room and do not have a wall to use for guiding the sheet up to the ceiling?
It’s mounted against the wall but what about the next sheet with out the wall?🤔
This is smart trick, thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome
Super helpful. Thanks.
You’re welcome
Great video! Thanks for the tips! 💚
You are so welcome!
You are frigg'n golden!

Man that is an awesome tip!!!! I really appreciate it.. I was wondering how I could do that without a helper…
Glad it was helpful!
Amazing innovation! Love it!
Thank you! Cheers!
You made my day a whole lot easier thanks for a great video
You're welcome
What about the next sheet in the middle of the room
Smooth, very impressive.
Thanks
Wow , neat!👍
Great video man! Thank you for the tips! Wow genius!
Thank you. Glad to help
What size are the drywall screws
Simplicity, super tip
Thanks
I started my drywalling in my basement wall, it suppose to dropp ceiling but we have extra drywall so we decided to use it on ceiling, is it still gonna be ok cause I've read that ceiling first before sidewall, thanks in advance
You should be fine. It is usually ceiling first but you should have space if the ceiling height is normal and you have a double top plate around the walls.
Thanks.... I'm starting now!
Cool
