- Hey guys, here's a review of the Heritage Kit Bag from GORUCK. I also show you the features of the regular Kit Bag, and some of the minor differences. A Kit Bag is a must-have in my opinion for just about any kind of travel, longer than a weekend. Why? It allows you to bring along your favorite EDC bag and keep all you stinky socks and underwear in the Kit Bag…but that's just me. As always, thanks for watching! -JB

FYI, the new Vietnam kit bag that I have have the same big pocket at the side that you showed on the heritage. Definitely a great pocket for some valuable or flat item like passport for instant.

Hey JB my regular Kit Bag black colour has the some inside pocket flapper style like the heritage Kit Bag. It is a perfect travel companion matched with my GR2 26L 500D. Heaven!

Got it in Field tan with my 21L GR1 also in field tan.... basically as a matching combo for travel. I just grabbed a black shoulder strap from some of my other gear for now if needed. Not an "abuse bag" so much as a bag for bulky items that don't weight much like running shoes, rain coat, one change of clothes, toiletries etc. I usually check a Pelican as well (although it is the small carry on size roller as well).

I saw that. I don't have one to compare and beyond the leather bottom I don't see any other differences to the standard Heritage ones.
Just received my black 32l kit bag, and have a 33l LR Rucker in the mail. Loving the kit bag so far, I definitely think I’ll get a lot of use out of it. Also, my black kit bag has the same zipper flap pocket as the heritage

I wish this thing was juust a bit closer to 40L…i LOVE the woodland camo bag and want one SO badly, I’m just concerned 32L might be a bit small for longer trips.
Perfect accessory bag to whatever the main bag is you're carrying. These are the overflow for me
I love my Heritage kit so far. Only regret is my GR1 is in Dark Oak. Fingers crossed for a future Heritage Bullet ruck in field tan so I have a matching travel pair.
That would be cool. Haven’t seen any talk of a heritage bullet but that would be cool

I have the standard black and love it as a gym bag but haven’t tried traveling with it. I have a trip coming up and im going to give it a try and see if i like it for travel

For strap keepers: I went the Goruck route and use a climbing carabiner on it. looks great and keeps the handles up and on top of the bag.
Love my 1000D kitbag too. It is so versatile and my business travel companion these days.
My black MIV kitbag has the large pocket like the heritage. Could you coyote kitbag be an older MIU version?

Absolutely loving mine.. fitting my change of clothes & shoes for after work rucks. And a great sidekick for my Huckberry heritage gr1. Wonder if scars would replace the bottom panel with leather to match the gr1?!

The Kit bags are great, I have the 84 litre and the 57 litre sizes. The Heritage is beautiful but I’m not that tempted.
But 32L is the "just right" size...😜

What packing cubes are you using here. I use my black kit bag for traveling to different fire stations and hate how it turns into a gypsy camp. But don’t feel I need crazy expensive cubes for uniforms.
I don't go crazy with packing cubes...Amazon Basics are what I use mostly but they seem to be discontinued. There's lots of inexpensive options. I also like the GORUCK Full cube...it's my go-to right now and I love how it folds.
Which color is the kit bag presented in the video?
Field tan.
How well does the heritage hold it's shape? One of my problems with the cordura kit bag is that it doesn't stand upright when not full.
When new it kinda stands up but as I use it more it's softening up and won't stand.
Which other brand’s shoulder strap would you recommend for the field tan kit ?
The GORUCK coyote one is the one I have. It’s padded and nice. My only complaint is it’s not very grippy
Hey JB, any chance you might have any suggestions for what I could use to bring some structure to the bottom of the bag to prevent it from sagging? I was thinking about an HDPE frame sheet of some sort and then line the sides with some adhesive loop to prevent it from rubbing on the inside.
I haven't tried anything just yet. If that's important to you I'd suggest playing around with different cardboard boxes to nail down the perfect size and then maybe find a semi-rigid material to make that same size.

@@jessicaho19 not really. They’re both pretty stiff originally but wear in over time.
Can you buy the heritage leather patch separate?
It doesn’t look like it’s currently available by itself. There’s a black leather version available right now.
Would this fit under an airline seat? This looks like a good option for personal item..which for me often just holds camera (in a canvas bag), electronics, and extra clothing that is not in carry-on (grab and go). I don’t really care about organized pockets.
It does mostly. If you’re stuffed it would depend on the seat.
What holds more, the kit bag or 34l gr2?
Depends on the kit bag. The common one is 32L.
But they pack differently with the compartments so it’s really about HOW you pack.
So... kit bag and bullet to travel, or just 34 gr2 ... hmmmm.... 2 bag system gets more Liters in and not bulky, but one bag is well.. one bag lol. Decisions decisions...
