    I have this in the brush brown. So versatile. Currently using it EDC to carry my tech and gym kit to and from work and the gym.
    The leather used smells gorgeous.

      @@dannypacks I’ve just seen your review of the Evergoods CTB 26L Phoenix. Was wondering if it was worth getting as I am able to source a new one for retail pricing. How does it compete with this GR2? Would you say it’s on par build quality-wise and out of the two which do you prefer?
      I know it fits a very similar use case, but I’m thinking to rotate them in my collection.

    Great review Danny but for me I can't justify the price point that GoRuck sells their bags at for my budget. If they had something that looked like this (doesn't have to be a GR2) in a sub-$200 or even a sub-$150 range I'd buy it no question but this is just way too rich

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Рік тому

      Thank you for watching and for the support! I definitely understand the higher price point is not for everyone especially with some really solid bags in the 150-250 range, I was excited to see that the bullet ruck laptop is under 200 so maybe there will be a few more that make it to that price point

    Such a sharp & classy-looking bag! I'd like to put this on my someday buy list. That said, I run pretty hot even in cooler weather, & one of the reasons I always enjoy your reviews is you tend to highlight bags with back harness that will reduce the back getting sweaty. For this price, I would need some better back panel channels, mesh, etc. Think that's something the SCARS program would cover?
    Also, if possible could you please review the new Osprey Parsec 26? Thanks for the awesome reviews as always!

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for watching and for the suggestion on the Osprey bag! Definitely a tough one for hotter weather, I don’t know if SCARS does that modification, that would be pretty awesome tho!

    Hi Danny, thank you for reviewing this bag 👍🏻. I’ve been eyeing the Heritage collection 👀 for a while now 🗓️. Olive and Slate were the colors that piqued my interest the most. Just couldn’t make up my mind 🤔 which rucksack 🎒 in the 26L capacity to get. Watching your take on both Heritage GR 1 and 2 helped me decide to get the latter 🍾.
    Hopefully 🤞🏻Goruck will re release the Bullet Heritage, this time with a laptop compartment. While adding Olive and Slate hues to the selection mix. Thanks again 🤗

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Рік тому +2

    great videos!

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Рік тому

      Thank you for watching! Definitely some good options there, I would say the aer and tortuga are more comfortable overall and might have more rugged materials but the knack would be better if you are looking for something that can work a little better as a daily bag since it can compress down

    Ughhh I can’t decide between oak or field tan for a GR1. I was leaning oak, but that field tan looks pretty damn good. Which one do you prefer after having both side by side?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Рік тому +2

      Thank you for watching and I definitely understand the struggle! I really like both quite a bit (was surprised how much I liked the tan), I might still lean a bit more towards the dark oak as I just prefer darker bags but both will offer a ton of versatility with what you can wear them with

    Gorgeous.
    My biggest concern is lack of shoulder molle to clip on a sternum strap esp for 32L if it gets packed out I assume it's quite heavy.
    Are the shoulder straps that good to make heavy weights comfortable?

    • @ghas4151
      @ghas4151 Рік тому

      I have this bag and the crazy thing is that it feels more comfortable the more you pack it out. The harness system is excellent - you really feel locked in when the straps are tightened.
      Though you do have the option to modify the bag using Goruck’s SCARS service if you want to add molle or extra handles. Check it out.

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Рік тому

      Thank you for watching and I agree with the other comment, the straps still feel great and goruck somehow seem to work better with more weight and the scars option may be worth considering if you really want to add a sternum strap but I haven’t needed yet

    Do you still own this bag? I've heard the field tan's front pocket is quite transluscent. Has this been the case for you or does it turn opaque over time? It's currently on sale and I just want to make sure I cover all points as there's no returns!

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Рік тому

      @dannypacks  Рік тому

      Thank you for watching and that’s a good idea for a video! I haven’t found anything that will keep you dry after a few hours but tortuga and aer bags have been helpful as far as providing a little additional breathability (evergoods updated back panel has also been pretty good)

I wonder if they changed the dyed canvas to a darker true black within thr last year.. hmm I'll let you know what I think of the color when it gets here fingers crossed its true black

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Рік тому

      Thank you for watching and definitely a tough choice! If you have a chance to get a CTB26 it really is one of my all time favorites as it checks off almost all the boxes on an ideal bag for me. Some of the others that I really like and I switch between them quite a bit are the aer travel pack 3 small, the gr2 26l, the Fjallraven raven 28, and the Patagonia Mini MLC. Another one that’s great but may be getting discontinued is the tortuga outbreaker laptop backpack (might be one of the closest to the CTB26 featurewise)

      @ghas4151 Рік тому

      @@zgilly2157 The CTB26 is an awesome bag and hits nearly everything I want in a backpack - I really hope they come out with a standard edition. One thing that it has over the GR2 for me is the external water bottle pockets. One of the best implementation of external water bottle pockets out of any brand.
      Still, I don’t think I would personally get it over the GR2 26L heritage if I had to choose one. It would be an extremely hard decision, but I love the layout of the GR2 with that extra compartment in the front with the attached field pocket. It just works so well!
      And my God, the waxed canvas with the Redwing leather feels all kinds of premium. The brilliant thing is that it looks better with age as it develops it’s own patina.
      Saying that, if Evergoods ever decide to release a standard CTB26 (not a fan of X-Pac) I don’t think I’d be able to resist. I’d get it in addition to the GR2, not to replace it.
