YES! That was most beautiful version I've ever heard and so well performed by Bea. I have always regretted she never recorded this song on an album anywhere. But that scene, at least in my view, should have been an Emmy award winning moment. She knows how to convey such emotion and whimsy in her singing. Truly a wonderful moment.
dorothy singing what'll i do was a very much needed moment for her character. throughout this season the jokes about her looks and her inability to find men were absurdly higher than any other seasons, but this scene squashes over all of it and puts dorothy in a situation that takes her already established talent for singing and pumps it up ten fold; in this moment she is finally given a raw and earnest moment to show her elegance, her poise, and her beauty - this scene is hers, she is the main attraction of this scene; nullifying any jabs at her beauty from up until this point. it's gratifying when the character who is always picked on gets their time to truly glow. this scene BELONGED to dorothy, it was beauty, it was elegance, it was justice for her character.
Also what I really liked about that scene was the pianist was really kind & inviting, giving Dorothy the opportunity & encouraging her as she started to sing. The whole scene was just so well done. :)
Sometimes people forget that Rue wasn't really a slut, Betty wasn't really dumb, and Estelle wasn't really that old. But, the jabs at Dorothy's looks, it was really how Bea looked. I'd hope she never took any of it personal, but it did sadden me a bit that her looks were the butt of the joke when in reality she was so beautiful and so elegant and talented.
I've probably rewatched The Golden Girls series more than 3 times, but still every time I hear "Miami, You've Got Style", I can't help but smile and tear up a bit. These girls brought so much joy into the lives of me, my mom and aunt, and is one of the things that always brings us together.
People are allowed to dislike things, it's just not for them. Not everyone has to like everything you like to have a valid opinion. Frankly who cares if other people dislike this? I'm tired of these sorts of comments.
"What'll I do" always makes me tear up because my dad and I loved this song and we sang together everytime this show really was our favorite I miss you dad Rest In Peace ❤
Holy cow Rue did a phenomenal job on I Wanna Be Loved by You. It's very difficult to pull off that sort of comedic physicality whilst singing. Everyone one of these ladies earned their Emmys that's for sure.
I always remembered “Thanks For The Medicare” while dealing with my parents’ confusing medical stuff. Helped immensely. The way she can’t stay on key to save her life is a treasure.
Happy Birthday Betty. You and Allen can celebrate together. Thank you for the laughs and all your entertainment throughout the many years. We will miss you and we love you, your smiles, dimples and sparkling eyes. ❤💝💖🥰😘🤗
Rue McClanahan (Blanche) was Even More Amazing in "I wanna be loved by you" because ironically, it takes tremendous talent to actually get it wrong. She made it look flawless! If you haven't read her autobiography, get it today! It's a page turner for sure! I Love the Golden Girls ❤
I read in an interview with Rue, that her favorite scene was the one when she was singing at the Rusty Anchor. She said it took a choreographer and 3 days of rehearsal to nail the performance.
This is one of my favorite compilations. So good from beginning to end. I love Henny Penny soooooooo much! They did an amazing job. Non stop laugh there.

I still can't believe that they're all gone. And I'm not ashamed to admit that that fact hurts a lot. RIP Estelle Getty (July 25, 1923 - July 22, 2008), Bea Arthur (May 13, 1922 - April 25, 2009), Rue McClanahan (February 21, 1934 - June 3, 2010), and Betty White (January 17, 1922 - December 31, 2021). You will all be missed, a lot.
Dorothy singing "what'll I do" gives me a chill.... Amazing... 🤩🤗
Yes. My absolute favourite. There's a youtube clip on just that. I go watch it whenever I feel like it.

Bea and Betty are trained singers, I guess. They both have lovely voices.
Bea Arthur had her share of musicals in her hey day! No surprise there but unknown about Betty White!
Yes they were.
@@moonlightfalcon7038 Betty had a variety show, in the 50's, and sang, a lot.
@@moonlightfalcon7038 Betty was actually studying to be an opera singer before she got big on TV!
So where just gonna ignore Rue singing “I Wanna be Loved by You” and Estelle singing “Thanks for the Medicare”
Bea Arthur had this beautiful booming Alto. We miss you funny woman, 1922-2009. 🥺💔
Bea Arthur has an amazing voice!
Yes she did! A voice like gold!
Bea was the original Vera in Mame on B'dway with Angela Lansbury
She really does.
Dorothy’s “BABE…. I got you BABE” gets me everytime
One of the best comedy scenes on tv, ever
When Dorothy looks back at the men adoring her whilst singing WHAT'LL I DO? at the Rusty Anchor: it's hilarious!

I didn’t know anyone else cried at that!
The fact all four of them could sing..one of the best things about the show.
To the person who gave this a thumbs down, you evidently can’t appreciate good quality acting. These ladies are AWESOME
@Ameerah McSweeney UA-cam made it so we can no longer see the dislikes. I believe only the person who uploaded the video can see those now.
A dislike would mean No sense of comedy. Life isnt perfect and TGG played life like it is.
